An embodiment of the present invention provides a backlight brightness adjusting method, and referring to fig. 2, fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a first embodiment of a backlight brightness adjusting method according to the present invention.
In this embodiment, the backlight brightness adjusting method includes the following steps:
step S10: when the display panel performs image backlight display, a dimming signal is acquired.
It should be noted that the main body of the backlight brightness adjusting method may be a backlight brightness adjusting device, the backlight brightness adjusting device may be disposed in the display apparatus, and the backlight brightness adjusting device may be composed of a system integrated chip, a logic control chip, a single chip, a driving chip, and other units.
It should be understood that, when the display panel performs the image backlight display, in order to satisfy the condition that the gray scale and the brightness change accord with the optimal visual effect of human eyes, a time sequence signal which changes according to the period can be generated according to the relationship between the optimal gray scale and the brightness, thereby realizing the smooth change of the image backlight brightness curve and improving the visual effect. In a specific implementation, the dimming signal may be obtained according to the display image, and the dimming signal may include a plurality of frame synchronization signals, and the dimming signal may specifically include information such as start position information and interval period time information of the control timing.
Step S20: and generating a time sequence signal which changes according to the period according to the dimming signal.
It can be understood that the micro control chip for backlight brightness adjustment, i.e. the single chip microcomputer, stores the optimal gray scale and brightness relation curve, and the dimming signal may further include clock period duty relation information obtained according to the optimal gray scale and brightness relation, and generates a time sequence signal varying according to a period according to the dimming signal, thereby realizing smooth variation of the image backlight brightness curve and improving the visual effect.
Step S30: and generating a brightness adjusting signal according to the time sequence signal, and adjusting the backlight brightness of the display panel according to the brightness adjusting signal.
It is easy to understand that, because the time sequence signal has the characteristic of periodic variation, and the dimming signal is obtained according to the display image and the relation between the optimal gray scale and the brightness, after the brightness adjusting signal is generated according to the time sequence signal, the brightness of the backlight is adjusted by the brightness adjusting signal, so that the gray scale and the brightness change can be satisfied to achieve the optimal visual effect of human eyes, that is, the backlight brightness of the display panel is adjusted according to the brightness adjusting signal, so that the smooth change of the image backlight brightness curve can be realized, and the image backlight display is closest to the optimal visual effect of human eyes.
In this embodiment, when the display panel performs backlight display of an image, a dimming signal is obtained, a timing signal that changes periodically is generated according to the dimming signal, a brightness adjustment signal is generated according to the timing signal, and the backlight brightness of the display panel is adjusted according to the brightness adjustment signal. In this embodiment, when the image is displayed in the backlight mode through the display panel, the luminance adjusting signal is generated according to the time sequence signal varying according to the period, and the backlight luminance of the display panel is adjusted according to the luminance adjusting signal, so that the smooth variation of the image backlight luminance curve is realized, and the visual effect is improved.
Referring to fig. 3, fig. 3 is a flowchart illustrating a backlight brightness adjusting method according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
Based on the first embodiment, in the step S10, the method for adjusting backlight brightness of this embodiment includes:
step S101: when the display panel performs image backlight display, acquiring an image signal; and carrying out image display analysis according to the image signal to generate a digital signal.
It should be understood that, when the display panel performs backlight display of an image, the front-end logic control chip or the system integrated chip may receive original input data to obtain an image signal, where the image signal may include image display parameter information and SPI data, and the image signal may be generated by performing internal operation on the chip and performing display analysis on the image by using an image processing algorithm, where the digital signal may include a frame synchronization signal, an RGB data signal, and the like.
Step S102: extracting signals according to the digital signals to generate frame synchronization signals of display drive; and carrying out signal acquisition on the frame synchronization signal to generate a dimming signal.
It can be understood that the timing control chip for backlight brightness adjustment may extract a digital signal to extract a frame synchronization signal, the signal extraction process may be implemented by a filtering unit of hardware or signal analysis of software, the frame synchronization signal may correctly separate each channel of time slot signal, and the frame synchronization signal may be acquired according to a starting position of the frame synchronization signal or timing control, the dimming signal may include a plurality of frame synchronization signals, and the dimming signal may specifically include information such as starting position information and interval period time information of the control timing.
Step S201: obtaining a change parameter of a relation curve of gray scale and brightness; and performing curve fitting according to the change parameters to obtain target change parameters of a fitting curve.
It is easy to understand that the micro control chip for backlight brightness adjustment, i.e. the single chip, can obtain an optimal gray scale and brightness relation curve, refer to fig. 4, fig. 4 is a graph of the optimal gray scale and brightness relation curve of an embodiment of the backlight brightness adjustment method of the present invention, where the ordinate is brightness, the abscissa is gray scale, and the optimal gray scale and brightness relation curve can satisfy the optimal visual effect of human eyes, and the gray scale and brightness curve most suitable for the human eye effect can be changed according to a change parameter, i.e. index 2.2.
Step S202: and generating a plurality of clock signals according to the target change parameter and the dimming signal, wherein the cycle time corresponding to the plurality of clock signals increases in a linear mode within a preset time period.
It can be understood that, as shown in fig. 5, fig. 5 is a graph of the cycle duty ratio relationship of the clock signal according to an embodiment of the backlight brightness adjusting method of the present invention, in which the curve is a linear curve, and the ordinate is brightness, the abscissa is a gray value, the variation parameter of the cycle duty ratio curve is a target variation parameter, and the target variation parameter can reflect the variation rule of the clock cycle.
It is easy to understand that the dimming signal may provide the start position information of the control timing and the cycle time of each time signal interval for the generated clock signals, and the cycle times corresponding to the clock signals within the preset time period may increase in a linear manner according to the target variation parameter.
In a specific implementation, the preset time period may be one frame time, and the cycle time corresponding to a plurality of clock signals increases in a linear manner in each frame time.
Step S203: and generating a time sequence signal which changes according to the period according to the plurality of clock signals.
It can be understood that the driving chip for adjusting the backlight brightness can collect clock signals in a plurality of frame times and sequence the clock signals according to the image change or time change sequence, thereby generating a time sequence signal, because the period time corresponding to a plurality of clock signals is increased in a linear mode, the combination of the clock signals has a period change rule, therefore, the time sequence signal has the characteristic of period change, and because the clock signals are obtained according to target change parameters, after the brightness adjusting signal is generated according to the time sequence signal, the backlight brightness of the display panel is automatically adjusted according to the brightness adjusting signal, thereby realizing the smooth change of the image backlight brightness curve, and enabling the image backlight display to be the best effect which is closest to the vision of human eyes.
It is easy to understand that, as shown in fig. 6, fig. 6 is a schematic diagram illustrating a periodic variation rule of a timing signal according to an embodiment of the backlight brightness adjusting method of the present invention, a first row of the timing signal may represent a start variation of a clock signal for each frame time controlled by a frame synchronization signal, and accordingly, a second row represents a periodic variation rule of the clock signal in a plurality of frame time periods, a period time corresponding to the clock signal increases in a linear manner, N × GCLK represents that each frame time includes N clock signals, the number of the clock signals may be set according to actual requirements, a third row represents a plurality of frame time periods according to an image variation or time variation sequence, A, B and C are variation sequences, for example, a × GCLK represents the clock signal in an a-th frame time.
In the embodiment, when the display panel performs image backlight display, an image signal is acquired; performing display analysis according to the image signal and an image processing algorithm to generate a digital signal, and performing operation analysis according to the digital signal to generate a frame synchronization signal; acquiring a signal of the frame synchronization signal, generating a dimming signal, and acquiring a change parameter of a relationship curve of gray scale and brightness; performing curve fitting according to the change parameters to obtain target change parameters, generating a plurality of clock signals according to the target change parameters and the dimming signals, wherein the period time corresponding to the plurality of clock signals is increased in a linear mode within a preset time period, generating a time sequence signal which changes according to the period according to the plurality of clock signals, generating a brightness adjusting signal according to the time sequence signal, automatically adjusting the backlight brightness of the display panel according to the brightness adjusting signal, realizing the smooth change of the image backlight brightness curve, and further improving the visual effect.
Referring to fig. 7, fig. 7 is a flowchart illustrating a backlight brightness adjusting method according to a third embodiment of the present invention.
Based on the first embodiment and the second embodiment, in the step S101, the method for adjusting backlight brightness further includes:
step S101': performing image display analysis according to the image signal to generate a local dimming signal; and acquiring a backlight regulation and control table.
It should be noted that, when the backlight brightness adjusting method implements smooth change of the image backlight brightness curve, the backlight power consumption of the display panel may also be adjusted, thereby further implementing energy-saving backlight brightness adjustment.
It should be understood that, because the display is usually in the highest brightness display state when displaying images, especially when displaying darker pictures, that is, when the display picture is in a low gray scale, the backlight display brightness is still in the highest brightness display state, and the driving current in this display state is relatively large and the duty ratio is relatively small, the power consumption of the display is relatively high, which results in relatively large energy consumption. Therefore, when the display panel performs low-gray-scale backlight display of images, in order to reduce display power consumption in the embodiment, the duty ratio can be improved by reducing the driving current, so that energy-saving backlight brightness adjustment is realized.
In a specific implementation, the local dimming signal may be obtained according to a display image in the image signal, the local dimming signal may be a maximum area brightness required when the image is subjected to backlight display, and the backlight brightness adjustment is performed according to the maximum area brightness, so that the brightness of each backlight area is smaller than the maximum area brightness, thereby achieving an effect of reducing display power consumption.
It is easy to understand that the backlight brightness control adopts a table look-up method to determine the target driving current, the backlight control table can be generated according to the reference current of the light-emitting element and the display gray scale of the display panel, and the light-emitting element can be an element with a light-emitting function, such as a light-emitting diode.
Step S102': and searching in the backlight regulation and control table according to the local dimming signal to obtain the target driving current meeting the maximum local brightness.
It can be understood that, the target driving current satisfying the backlight display can be obtained by searching in the backlight control table according to the local dimming signal, the target driving current satisfying the maximum local brightness can be the minimum driving current for realizing the backlight display under the condition of satisfying the maximum local brightness, and the maximum local brightness can be the highest display brightness of the backlight area according with the best visual effect of human eyes.
Step S103': and adjusting the backlight brightness of the display panel according to the target driving current.
It is easy to understand that the target driving current is smaller than the driving current of the display panel in the state of keeping the highest brightness display, and the backlight brightness of the display panel is automatically adjusted according to the target driving current so as to reduce the driving current and improve the duty ratio, thereby realizing the energy-saving backlight brightness adjustment and reducing the backlight power consumption.
In this embodiment, when the display panel realizes smooth change of an image backlight luminance curve, a local dimming signal is further generated according to the image signal, a backlight control table is obtained, the local dimming signal is searched in the backlight control table according to the local dimming signal, a target driving current meeting backlight display is obtained, and the backlight luminance of the display panel is adjusted according to the target driving current. In the embodiment, when the display panel performs low-gray-scale backlight display of images, the target driving current meeting the backlight display is searched in the backlight regulation and control table according to the local dimming signal, and the backlight brightness of the display panel is automatically adjusted according to the target driving current, so that the backlight power consumption is reduced.
Referring to fig. 8, fig. 7 is a flowchart illustrating a backlight brightness adjusting method according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention.
Based on the third embodiment, the step S101' in the backlight brightness adjusting method of the present embodiment includes:
step S1011': and counting the brightness of the image area according to the image signal to generate an image area brightness signal.
It should be understood that, when the display panel performs backlight display of an image, the original input data may be received by the front-end logic control chip or the system integrated chip, an image signal is obtained, and after internal operation of the chip, the brightness of the image area is counted by using an image processing algorithm to obtain a statistical result.
In a specific implementation, the display image may be divided into a plurality of backlight regions according to image processing, the region brightness of each backlight region is detected respectively, so as to obtain a statistical result, the statistical result may include the display brightness of each backlight region, and an image region brightness signal may be generated according to the statistical result, and the image region brightness signal may include the display brightness information of each backlight region.
Step S1012': and detecting the maximum area brightness in the image area corresponding to the image area brightness signal, and generating an area dimming signal according to the maximum area brightness.
It can be understood that the maximum area brightness can be detected by comparing the display brightness of each backlight area, the area dimming signal can be the maximum area brightness required when the image is displayed in a backlight mode, and the backlight brightness adjustment is performed according to the maximum area brightness, so that the brightness of each backlight area is smaller than the maximum area brightness, and the effect of reducing the display power consumption is achieved.
Step S1021': and acquiring the display brightness of the display panel and the reference current value of the light-emitting element.
Step S1022': and sequencing the reference current values according to a preset current value sequencing rule to obtain a reference current sequence.
It is easy to understand that, at the beginning of the design of the display panel or the backlight brightness adjusting device, reference current values may be obtained according to characteristics of the adopted light emitting elements, different reference current values are compared, and a preset current value sorting rule is sorted according to the comparison result to obtain a reference current sequence, where the preset current value sorting rule may be arranged in a sequence from small to large or in a sequence from large to small, in a specific implementation, the preset current value sorting rule is arranged in a sequence from small to small, and assuming that 8 reference current values of A, B and c.
Step S1023': dividing the display gray scale corresponding to the display brightness into a plurality of gray scale ranges according to a preset division rule, and generating a backlight regulation gray scale according to the gray scale ranges.
It can be understood that, at the beginning of the design of the display panel or the backlight brightness adjusting device, the display brightness of the display panel can be further obtained, the display brightness is analyzed, and the display gray scale corresponding to the display brightness is obtained, in a specific implementation, the display gray scale can be divided into 8 gray scale ranges of 0 to 30, 31 to 62, 63 to 95, 96 to 126, 127 to 159, 160 to 191, 192 to 223, and 224 to 255, the preset division rule can include 31 gray scale values for each gray scale range, the backlight regulation gray scale can be obtained according to the gray scale ranges, and accordingly, the backlight regulation gray scale can include 0, 31, 63, 96, 127, 160, 192, 224, and 255.
Step S1024': and sequencing the reference current sequence and the backlight regulation gray scale according to a preset regulation table sequencing rule to generate a backlight regulation table.
It is easy to understand that the reference current sequence can be used as the first row setting of the backlight control table, i.e. the currents a to H, the backlight control gray scale can be used as the first row setting of the backlight control table, i.e. the input data 0, 31, 63, 96, 127, 160, 192, 224 and 255, the output data can be the combination of the current and the backlight control gray scale, for example, a0 can represent the 0 gray scale under the current a, B96 can represent the 96 gray scale under the current B, and the backlight control table is shown in the following table 1.
TABLE 1
Figure 334083DEST_PATH_IMAGE001
Further, acquiring area brightness signals after each backlight area in the display panel is adjusted; and finely adjusting the backlight brightness of the display panel according to the region brightness signal.
It is easy to understand that, after the backlight brightness of the display panel is adjusted according to the brightness adjustment signal or the backlight brightness of the display panel is adjusted according to the target driving current, the backlight brightness of the display panel can be finely adjusted, in a specific implementation, the display area of the display panel can be divided into a plurality of backlight areas, the display brightness of each backlight area can be influenced mutually, the brightness relationship of each backlight area can be a calculation formula corresponding to the display brightness of each backlight area, a fine adjustment parameter of each backlight area can be calculated according to the area brightness signal and the brightness relationship of each backlight area, and the brightness of each backlight area is finely adjusted according to the fine adjustment parameter, so that the driving current of each backlight area can be further reduced, the backlight brightness of the display panel is more uniform, and the display efficiency is improved while the power consumption is further reduced.
The embodiment obtains an image signal when the display panel performs backlight display of an image, counts the brightness of an image area according to the image signal, generates a brightness signal of the image area, detects the maximum area brightness in the brightness signal of the image area, generates a local dimming signal, obtains a reference current value of a light-emitting element, and sorts the reference current value according to a preset current value sorting rule to obtain a reference current sequence, obtains the display brightness of the display panel, divides the display gray scale corresponding to the display brightness into a plurality of gray scale ranges according to a preset division rule to generate a backlight regulation gray scale, sorts the reference current sequence and the backlight regulation gray scale according to a preset regulation table sorting rule to generate a backlight regulation table, thereby obtaining a target driving current meeting the backlight display by looking up a table, regulating the backlight brightness of the display panel according to the target driving current, and obtaining the area brightness signal after each backlight area in the display panel is regulated after the brightness is regulated, and finely adjusting the backlight brightness of the display panel according to the area brightness signal and the brightness relation of each backlight area so as to ensure that the backlight brightness of the display panel is uniform, reduce the backlight power consumption and improve the display effect of the backlight picture.
