Technical Field
The present invention relates to a fitting set for a stringed instrument, and more particularly to a fitting set having a sound purifier for a stringed instrument.
Background
Stringed instruments, such as violins, cellos, and bass, have sound quality that has a significant impact on the sound of these stringed instruments. As players are striving for better stringed instruments, there are many related studies on secrets behind stringed instruments made by the string makers in the seminar (e.g., stradinvarius and Guarneri del Gesu). However, each accessory affects the sound quality of the string instrument in many ways, for example, in many cases players use a chin rest on their string instrument to ensure that their chin and neck can be correctly placed on the string instrument, while the use of fine trimmers can precisely adjust the frequency of the strings, and furthermore, the strings, tailpieces (strings) and string shafts (pegs) must be updated from time to maintain the best sound quality of the string instrument, since they all together produce vibrations when playing the string instrument, in fact, the sound of the string instrument is a combination of these vibrations.

Detailed Description
Before the present invention is described in detail, it should be noted that in the following description, like elements are denoted by the same reference numerals.
Referring to fig. 1 to 3, according to an embodiment of the present invention, the fitting set for a stringed musical instrument 100 includes a fitting, and a plurality of sound purifiers (3), which in the embodiment of fig. 1 to 3 are fine-tuning machines 1.
For descriptive purposes, the stringed musical instrument 100 is illustrated with the violin shown in fig. 1 as an example. However, in other embodiments, the stringed musical instrument 100 may be a violin, cello, bass, or the like. In detail, the stringed musical instrument 100 includes a body 101. The body 101 includes a front plate 101a, a back plate 101b, and a side wall 101c connected between the front plate 101a and the back plate 101b to form a sound box. The body 101 further includes a neck 104 having one end connected to the front plate 101a and the side wall 101c, a peg box 105 connected to the other end of the neck 104, a plurality of pegs 106 (i.e., four pegs 106) mounted on the peg box 105, and a plurality of strings 102 (i.e., four strings 102) respectively corresponding to the pegs 106.
In this embodiment, the body 101 further includes a tailpiece 21 mounted to the front plate 101 a. The tailpiece 21 has four hole portions 22 corresponding to the strings 102, respectively, and each of the hole portions 22 has a groove 220 for holding a corresponding one of the strings 102. The fine tuning device 1 is mounted to one hole 22 (usually, the hole 22 corresponding to the E-string) of the tailpiece 21, and it is noted that the number of fine tuning devices 1 mounted to the tailpiece 21 may be adjusted to be plural according to the use requirement of the player.
The strings 102 are wound around the pins 106, respectively, each string 102 having an end 103 in the form of a hoop around a spherical body 103a, the spherical body 103a having a width larger than the width of the groove 220 of the tailpiece 21. In another embodiment, the end 103 may not have the spherical body 103a, but may be provided in a knot-like or loop-like form. In the case where the trimmer 1 is mounted on the hole portion 22, the end 103 of the string 102 is fixed to the trimmer 1, whereas in the case where the trimmer 1 is not present, the end 103 of the string 102 is directly fixed to the tailpiece 21.
In the present embodiment, the fine tuning machine 1 has, but is not limited to, a base 11 disposed below the tailpiece 21, a bolt 12, a nut 13, a tuning screw 14, and a tailpiece 15. The bolt 12 is formed with a threaded axial hole 120, and the bolt 12 is attached to the base 11 and passes through the tailpiece 21. The nut 13 is disposed above the tailpiece 21 and locked down on the bolt 12 to fix the base 11 below the tailpiece 21. The tuning screw 14 is threadably engaged to the threaded axial bore 120 of the bolt 12. The string pulling seat 15 is pivotally connected to the base 11, and has a carrying portion 151 and a pulling portion 152 connected to the carrying portion 151 to form an L-shaped integral structure. The pulling portion 152 has a groove for pulling the end 103 of the string 102. To adjust the string 102, the tuning screw 14 is turned to push the bearing 151, causing the distance between the pulling portion 152 and the tuning pin 106 to change, which also relatively changes the tension of the string 102. It is particularly noted that the fine-tuning device 1 may be of different forms and have different detail elements.
In general, the fine adjuster 1 is made of metal or Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) having a Young's modulus of greater than 35GPa, and the tailpiece 21 is made of FRP or wood having a Young's modulus of greater than 17 GPa.
In this embodiment, the set of accessories comprises three sound purifiers 3. The first one 3 of the sound purifiers 3 is sandwiched between the nut 13 of the fine adjuster 1 and the tailpiece 21 (hereinafter referred to as set point a), the second one 3 of the sound purifiers 3 is sandwiched between the base 11 of the fine adjuster 1 and the tailpiece 21 (hereinafter referred to as set point B), and the third one 3 of the sound purifiers 3 is sandwiched between the holding portion 152 of the tailpiece 15 of the fine adjuster 1 and the end 103 of one of the strings 102 (hereinafter referred to as set point C).
Each of the sound purifiers 3 is made of a material having a young's modulus of approximately 3.5GPa or less, and in this embodiment, each of the sound purifiers 3 is made of a material selected from the group consisting of sponge, rubber, foam, silica gel, latex, and combinations of the foregoing, while having a young's modulus of approximately 1GPa or less, and may be designed in the form of, but not limited to, a disk, ring, block, or sphere.
In particular, the sound purifier 3 provided at the set point a or set point B may be formed with a hole (not shown in the drawings) for passing the tuning screw 14 therethrough. With the sound purifier 3 set at the set point C, since the holding portion 152 usually has a slot (not shown), the sound purifier 3 should also be formed with a slot (not shown) for the string 102 to slide in so that the spherical body 103a is pressed against the holding portion 152. In other embodiments without the bulb 103a, instead of designing a slot in the sound purifier 3, the looped end 103 may simply surround the pull-grip 152.
Referring to fig. 4, in another embodiment of the present invention, the sound purifier 3 sandwiched between the tailpiece 15 and the end 103 of one of the strings 102 may be designed as a cap covering the end of the tailpiece 15.
Regarding the function of the sound purifier 3, a conventional trimmer mounted on the tailpiece 21 always vibrates together with the strings 102 at the time of playing, and the metallic nature of the conventional trimmer very efficiently conducts vibration energy from the strings 102 to the tailpiece 21, resulting in unnecessary energy loss. In the present embodiment, the sound purifier 3 can functionally reduce the vibration of the fine adjuster 1. Furthermore, the sound purifier 3 can effectively produce a sound insulating effect between the tailpiece 21 and the trimmer 1 and/or between the string 102 and the trimmer 1. Thus, vibration from the tailpiece 21 and unnecessary sound from the fine adjuster 1 can be suppressed. Thus, the sound purifier 3 can not only enhance the volume from the strings 102, but also purify the sound profile so that the sound profile is focused only on the strings 102.
The effect achieved by the mounting of the fine tuning device 1 and the sound purifying device 3 of the accessory set to the tailpiece 21 has been carefully examined by two professional string makers, and after the accessory set is mounted to a violin and a cello and tested, the bare ear can clearly hear the louder and better sound quality generated by the combination of the string instrument and the accessory set. And according to personal evaluation and judgment, the string musical instrument can have higher value along with the tone quality improvement result brought by the combination of the arrangement of the accessory group.
Referring to fig. 5, there is shown an embodiment of a fitting group for the stringed musical instrument 100 according to the present invention, in which the fitting group includes a fitting exemplified by the tailpiece 21, and a plurality of sound purifiers 3. It is particularly noted that in the present embodiment, the tailpiece 21 is defined as a fitting, not as a part of the body 101 of the stringed musical instrument 100.
In the present embodiment, the end 103 of the string 102 is fixed to the tailpiece 21 directly, not through the fine tuning device 1, and each sound purifier 3 is sandwiched between the tailpiece 21 and the spherical body 103a of a corresponding one of the strings 102.
Each of the sound purifiers 3 is designed in the form of a disc, a block, or a sphere having a fine hole or slot (not shown) so that the string 102 can pass therethrough, so that the spherical body 103a of the string 102 is pressed against the surface of the sound purifier 3.
In another embodiment, the accessory for the set of accessories of the stringed musical instrument 100 is the string 102. It is to be particularly noted that, in the present embodiment, the strings 102 are defined as fittings, not as a part of the body 101 of the stringed musical instrument 100, whereas, in the present embodiment, the tailpiece 21 is defined as a part of the body 101 of the stringed musical instrument 100.
The conventional tailpiece is in direct contact with the string 102, whereby when the string 102 is plucked, the conventional tailpiece will vibrate together with the string 102, and the vibration energy of the string 102 is transferred to the conventional tailpiece, which will result in unavoidable sound energy losses of the string 102, and thus also a weakening of the volume. In addition, acoustic interference is also generated due to vibration of the conventional tailpiece. In the present embodiment, the sound purifier 3 acoustically isolates the end 103 of the string 102 from the tailpiece 21, and the sound insulating action of the sound purifier 3 can reduce the loss of sound energy of the string 102 and reduce the sound disturbance from the tailpiece 21, while the volume of the string 102 is also relatively increased.
Referring to fig. 6 and 7, there is shown an embodiment of a fitting set for the stringed musical instrument 100 according to the present invention, in which the fitting set includes a chin-rest apparatus 4 as a fitting, and a sound purifier 3, and the stringed musical instrument 100 may be a violin or a violin.
The chin rest apparatus 4 includes a chin rest 41, two support legs 42 (holding feet), and two turnbuckle jaws 43 (turnbuckle clamp). The chin rest 41 is provided on the front plate 101a of the body 101 through, but not limited to, two contact points. Each of the support legs 42 is provided below the back plate 101b of the body 101. The two turnbuckle jaws 43 are respectively connected to the two support legs 42 and are fastened to the chin-rest 41 such that the chin-rest 41 and the support legs 42 are mounted to the body 101 of the stringed musical instrument 100.
Each sound purifier 3 may be sandwiched between the chin rest 41 and the front plate 101a and/or between the support legs 42 and the back plate 101 b. Specifically, in the present embodiment, two sound purifiers 3 (in the former) are provided below the chin rest 41, and two sound purifiers 3 (in the latter) are provided on the support foot 42, each of the front sound purifiers 3 being sandwiched between the contact point of the chin rest 41 and the front plate 101a of the body 101, and each of the rear sound purifiers 3 being sandwiched between the support foot 42 and the back plate 101b of the body 101.
For example, the chin rest 41 is made of wood having a young's modulus of more than 17GPa or FRP having a young's modulus of more than 35GPa, and the support leg 42 is made of metal.
It is particularly noted that the conventional chin-rest apparatus reduces vibrations of the body 101 of the stringed musical instrument 100. In the present embodiment, the sound purifier 3 provides the body 101 with better sound insulation with the chin-rest apparatus 4, so that the vibration attenuation of the body 101 can be further reduced. In other words, since the body 101 restores the original vibration, the sound quality is improved.
