Description

Operating part for different types of household appliances
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an operating portion for a household appliance. The invention relates in particular to an operating part which can be used in a flexible manner in different types of domestic appliances.
Background
Household appliances, such as washing machines, dishwashers, dryers and/or ovens, typically have a long service life of, for example, 10 years or more than 10 years. Derivative developments during the time of use, which mostly cannot be provided in already delivered domestic appliances, may occur as a result of technological advances. In particular, a derivative development can be carried out with regard to the interaction possibilities between the user and the household appliance and/or with regard to the operating program of the household appliance.
Furthermore, different types of household appliances often have similar requirements concerning the possibility of interaction between the user and the respective household appliance. The provision of a user interface for a household appliance is typically associated with high development and/or material and/or logistics costs.
Disclosure of Invention
The technical task underlying the present document is to provide a cost-effective and flexibly adaptable user interface for household appliances, in particular for different types of household appliances.
This object is achieved by the subject matter of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments are defined in particular in the dependent claims, are described in the following description or are shown in the drawings.
According to one aspect of the invention, an operating portion for a household appliance is described. The operating part is designed for being fastened (in particular detachably and/or replaceably) to a base part of the household appliance, wherein the base part comprises one or more mechanical and/or electrical components for providing the function of the household appliance. The operating part can thus be designed for fastening to a base part of the household appliance in order to form the household appliance by the combination of the base part and the operating part. Here, the user interface may be provided for the home appliance through the operation part. If necessary, the household appliance can be designed such that a household appliance without an operating part does not have a user interface. The operating part can therefore be the only component of the (assembled) household appliance, by means of which the user interface is provided.
The operating part typically comprises a (if necessary waterproof and/or dustproof) housing. The housing of the operating part can be designed to be received by a recess of the housing of the base part, in particular a drawer structure, in order to fix the operating part at the base part. It is thus possible for the user to fix the operating portion at the base portion in a comfortable manner and to remove it again from the base portion when required (for example in order to fix further operating portions at the base portion). The operating part can thus be configured such that it can be fixed (without tools) at the base part and/or replaced by a (final) user of the household appliance (typically without servicing ability). The removal member can here be facilitated by simply pulling the operating part out of the holder of the base part (for example from the drawer structure) (without having to e.g. loosen screws or other fixing elements, and/or without using tools for this purpose).
The operating part typically comprises an interface configured to interact with a complementary interface of the base part, so that the operating part can be supplied with electrical energy by the base part via the interface, and so that the operating part can exchange data with the base part via the interface when the operating part is fixed at the base part. The interface is in a preferred example a wireless interface in order to be able to fix the operating part as comfortably and reliably as possible at the base part. By providing a data and/or energy interface, an efficient interaction between the operating part and the base part can be achieved in order to provide a domestic appliance.
The operating section comprises a control unit which is designed to determine one household appliance type of the household appliances from a plurality of different household appliance types. In other words, the operating part can be configured to (in particular automatically, for example directly after the operating part is fixed at the base part and/or directly after the operating part has started operating) identify in which household appliance type the operating part should be used and/or for which household appliance type a user interface should be provided by the operating part. The type of domestic appliance is typically determined here by a base part, at which the operating part is fixed. The operating part can thus be configured to (in particular automatically, for example directly after the operating part is fixed at the base part and/or directly after the operating part has started to operate), identify at which type of base part the operating part is fixed and thus which type of household appliance should be formed by the combination of the base part and the operating part.
Exemplary types of household appliances are: at least one type of washing machine; at least one type of dishwasher; at least one type of dryer; at least one type of furnace; at least one type of cooktop; at least one type of range hood; at least one type of refrigerator and/or freezer; at least one type of automatic beverage machine; and/or at least one type of chef machine.
The control unit of the operating part is also provided for adjusting the user interface provided by the operating part (automatically, for example directly after the operating part is fixed at the base part, and/or directly after the operating part has started to operate) in accordance with the determined type of household appliance. For this purpose, in particular, the Software (SW) for the user interface used by the operating section can be adapted to the determined type of household appliance. It is thus possible to provide a single, uniform operating part for a plurality of different types of household appliances, which is designed to be adapted (automatically, that is to say without user intervention) to the type of household appliance used with the operating part. In other words, an operating part can be provided which can be fixed in a flexible manner at different base parts for different household appliance types and which is designed to be automatically adapted to the respective household appliance type in order to provide a type-specific user interface. The operating section can thus be designed to automatically adapt, in particular the respectively used software of the operating section, to each individual household appliance type of the plurality of different household appliance types in order to provide a type-specific user interface for each individual household appliance type of the plurality of different household appliance types.
With the described operating section, a user interface can be provided for different types of household appliances (with a single operating section) in a comfortable, flexible and cost-effective manner. In other words, it is enabled to use identically constructed operating parts in different types of household appliances in order to provide type-specific user interfaces, respectively.
The operating section may comprise one or more operating elements (e.g. keys (virtual and/or mechanical, if appropriate), switches, buttons, slide actuators, etc.) and/or one or more output elements of a user interface of the household appliance (e.g. a screen, LEDs, light-emitting elements, speakers, etc.). The control unit can be provided for adjusting one or more functions of the household appliance, which can be triggered by the one or more operating elements, and/or one or more outputs, which can be output by the one or more output elements, depending on the determined type of household appliance. In other words, the assignment of the functions of one or more operating elements can be adapted to the respective household appliance type. Furthermore, one or more optical and/or acoustic outputs caused by the operating section can be adapted to the respective household appliance type. A comfortable user interface can thus also be provided for different household appliance types by the described operating element.
The operating section can be designed to establish a data connection to an external unit arranged outside the domestic appliance, thus providing a user interface of the domestic appliance via the external unit. The external unit may for example comprise or be an electronic user device (e.g. a smartphone) and/or other household appliance. The operating section can then be configured as a slave operating section, which enables user input and/or user output of the household appliance by means of a unit configured outside the master operating section. The operating section can thus enable access of the household appliance formed (by the operating section and the base section) to a superordinate user interface via which, for example, a plurality of different household appliances can be operated. The comfort of the user can be further improved.
According to a further aspect of the invention, a household appliance, in particular a household appliance, is described. The household appliance may be a washing machine, a dishwasher, a range, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, a fully automatic coffee maker and/or a dryer. The household appliance can alternatively or additionally be designed for placement below a work counter of a kitchen and/or for installation in a mounting cabinet of the kitchen. The household appliance may for example have a front face with a width of 45 cm or 60 cm (which corresponds to typical household appliance mounting dimensions in europe).
The household appliance may comprise a base portion and an operating portion. The household appliance can be assembled in particular from a base part and an operating part. The base part may here comprise one or more mechanical and/or electrical components for providing the function of the household appliance. The one or more mechanical and/or electrical components may, for example, comprise an electric motor and/or an electric pump and/or an electrically controllable valve. The base part may for example comprise a washing drum and a motor of the washing drum, or a rinsing chamber and a pump of the dishwasher. The base portion may form a majority (e.g. 80% or more than 80%, or 90% or more than 90%) of the volume of the household appliance.
The base part of the household appliance, in particular of the household appliance, can be designed to receive water from an external source (for example from a water connection of the base part), to treat the water in the interior (for example in the drum or in the rinsing chamber) and/or to convey the water from the interior to a sink outside the household appliance (for example into a drain).
The operating portion may be configured as described in this document. The operating section may comprise, inter alia, one or more operating elements (e.g. keys) and/or output elements of a user interface of the household appliance (e.g. a screen and/or a light-emitting element and/or a loudspeaker).
The household appliance can thus be divided into a base part and an operating part, wherein the base part has the necessary mechanical and/or electrical components in order to provide the own functions of the household appliance (for example washing, drying or rinsing), and wherein the operating part provides a user interface and, if necessary, controls of the household appliance.
The base part may have (at a housing of the base part) a bracket for detachably fixing the operating part at the base part. The holder can be designed such that the operating part can be fixed, for example mounted, for example, on the base part by a user of the household appliance without using tools and/or can be received by the base part. The holder can thus be designed to allow a comfortable replacement of the operating part (without having to open, for example unscrew, a housing of, for example, a household appliance here). In particular, the household appliance can be designed such that the housing of the operating part can be fixed to the housing of the base part (for example, if appropriate solely by a magnetic connection and/or by a form-fitting connection).
The base part and the operating part may each have an interface, via which electrical energy can be supplied from the base part to the operating part and via which the operating part and the base part can be exchanged when the operating part is fixed at the base part. The power connector of the home appliance may be disposed at the base portion. The interface of the base part and of the operating part can be designed to transmit electrical energy for the supply from the power supply connection to the operating part. Furthermore, the interface can enable data exchange between the base part and the operating part, in particular for transmitting user operating inputs made at the operating part to the base part and/or for controlling one or more mechanical and/or electrical components of the base part by means of a control unit of the operating part.
It is thus possible to provide a household appliance having a base part, at which different types of operating parts can be fixed, in order to be able to adjust the interaction possibilities of the household appliance and/or the functional range of the household appliance (with respect to the control functions or operating programs of the household appliance) in a flexible manner.
The interface of the base part and of the operating part is preferably formed by wireless energy transmission and/or data communication. The interface of the base part and of the actuating part can be designed in particular for inductively and/or galvanically separately (for example, using at least one resonant circuit) for transmitting electrical energy for supplying the actuating part from the base part to the actuating part.
The base part can be provided for generating an electrical and/or magnetic, in particular electromagnetic, alternating field for the transmission of energy. Furthermore, the operating part and/or the base part are provided for modulating the alternating field for exchanging data between the operating part and the base part. The data transmission can thus coincide with the energy transmission in a particularly efficient manner. The interfaces of the base part and of the operating part can alternatively or additionally be designed to transmit data via bluetooth and/or via a WLAN communication link and/or via a (further) wireless communication link or by means of a (further) communication standard.
By using a wireless interface between the base part and the operating part, a household appliance with an exchangeable operating part can be provided in a particularly safe manner. Furthermore, it is thus possible in a particularly effective manner to provide an operating part with a watertight housing, as a result of which the reliability of the domestic appliance can be further increased.
As already stated above, the base part and the operating part typically each comprise a housing. Here, each housing may be self-closing. Each individual housing can be designed in particular to shield access to components of the base part or of the operating part. In particular, the housing of the base part and the housing of the operating part can be designed in such a way that they can also ensure the required contact security of the household appliance separately from one another and/or protect the respective parts from soiling and/or environmental influences.
The housing of the base part can have a recess (for example in the form of a groove) which is designed to receive the housing of the operating part and/or is designed to be complementary to the housing of the operating part. The housing of the base part and the housing of the operating part can be shaped in a complementary manner, in particular such that the base part and the operating part together form a cuboid-shaped domestic appliance. The housing of the actuating part can be, for example, cuboid and the recess can be cuboid in a corresponding manner, so that the recess is filled by the actuating part. The recess can be formed, for example, by a housing of the base part, which is shaped to correspond to the shape of the housing of the operating part. A particularly simple and safe replacement of the operating part of the domestic appliance can thus be achieved.
The interface of the base part may be arranged at a recess of the housing of the base part. Furthermore, the interface of the operating part can be arranged at the side of the operating part facing the recess of the base part (in particular at the rear side), so that the interfaces of the base part and of the operating part can directly adjoin one another when the operating part is fixed at the base part. A particularly efficient and reliable energy transmission and/or data transmission can thus be achieved.
The base portion may comprise one or more fastening elements (e.g. slots and/or keys) configured to interact with one or more complementary fastening elements (e.g. slots and/or keys) of the operating portion in order to (detachably) secure the operating portion at the base portion. The housing of the base part and the housing of the operating part may in particular each comprise one or more fastening elements which are configured to detachably fix the operating part at the base part. The one or more fastening elements of the base part and of the operating part can, for example, be configured to form one or more form-fitting connections in pairs. A comfortable and easily detachable fastening of the operating part at the base part can thus be achieved.
The operating portion may comprise a control unit of the household appliance. In other words, the operating portion may be configured as an operating and control portion of the household appliance. The control unit of the operating part can be designed to control one or more mechanical and/or electrical components of the base part via the interface of the operating part and the base part in order to provide the function of the domestic appliance. The control of the household appliance may thus be provided (at least partially or completely) by the operating part. A flexible and effective adjustment of the functional range of the domestic appliance can thus be achieved by exchanging the operating part.
The base part can be designed to accommodate in the holder (in particular at a recess of the housing of the base part) in each case one operating part from a large number of different types of operating parts. A large number of different types of operating sections may here at least partly comprise different operating elements and/or output elements. A large number of different types of operating parts may alternatively or additionally at least partially enable different operational interactions between a user of the household appliance and the household appliance. A large number of different types of operating parts may alternatively or additionally at least partly comprise different operating programs to control one or more mechanical and/or electrical components of the base part.
The base part can thus be configured to accommodate different types of operating parts. The different types of operating sections may differ, for example, when one or more operating elements and/or one or more output elements of a user interface provided at the respective type of operating section for the household appliance are involved. The different types of operating sections may alternatively or additionally differ with regard to the scope of the functions and/or with regard to the interaction possibilities of the user interface of the domestic appliance, which are provided by the respective type of operating section.
In other words, the base part of the household appliance can be designed such that it can be operated together with different operating parts, wherein the different operating parts can differ, in particular, with regard to the interaction possibilities and/or with regard to the control possibilities of one or more mechanical and/or electrical components of the base part. An adjustment of the functional range of the household appliance can thus be achieved by simply replacing the operating part.
The base portion may be configured such that a real function of the home appliance (e.g., washing, drying, or rinsing) cannot be provided when the operating portion is not fixed at the base portion. The base part may in particular not provide a user interface and/or not provide one or more mechanical and/or electrical component controls of the base part, if necessary. The operating part is alternatively or additionally designed to be supplied with electrical energy only via the base part. Furthermore, the operating part preferably has no mechanical and/or electrical components for providing the actual function of the domestic appliance. The base part and the operating part therefore preferably have a defined separation of the partial functions of the household appliance. In this case, the base part can be responsible for the energy supply and provision of the actual functions of the household appliance and the operating part can be responsible for the user interface and, if necessary, for the control of the household appliance. By thus clearly separating the partial functions, a cost-effective domestic appliance with an exchangeable operating part can be provided.
It is to be noted that each aspect of the operation section and/or the home appliance described in this document can be combined with each other in various ways. The features of the claims can in particular be combined with one another in a multiplicity of ways.
The invention is further explained in more detail with the aid of embodiments shown in the drawings.

Detailed Description
As stated at the outset, the present document relates to a flexible and cost-effective provision of a user interface for a household appliance. In this relationship, fig. 1 shows an exemplary household appliance 100, in particular a washing machine, in a front view. The household appliance 100 comprises at least one actuator 101, for example an electric motor, which is provided to provide the functionality of the household appliance 100. In the example shown, the actuator 101 is configured for driving a washing drum 102 of a washing machine.
Furthermore, the household appliance 100 comprises a control unit 111, which is provided to control one or more actuators 101 of the household appliance 100 in order to provide the functions of the household appliance 100. The control unit 111 can be provided, for example, to provide different operating programs for the household appliance 100. The one or more actuators 101 can then be driven by the control unit 111 differently depending on the operating program.
Furthermore, the household appliance 100 comprises a user interface enabling a user to interact with the household appliance 100. The user interface may comprise one or more operating elements 112 which enable a user to manipulate inputs (e.g. select an operating program of the household appliance 100 and/or activate or deactivate the household appliance 100). Furthermore, the user interface may comprise one or more output elements 113 (e.g. a screen, a light element and/or a speaker) which are provided for outputting feedback of the household appliance 100 to the user (e.g. for displaying the status of the running program).
The interaction possibilities which can be provided by the user interface and/or the functionalities which can be provided by the household appliance 100 are continuously expanding by technological advances. The household appliance 100 described in this document comprises a removable and/or exchangeable operating part 110, which comprises a user interface, in particular one or more operating elements 112 and/or output elements 113 of the household appliance 100. The operating part 110 can be designed such that the operating part 110 can be removed by a user, in particular without tools, from the household appliance 100, in particular from the base part 120 of the household appliance 100, and can be replaced by another operating part 110 if necessary. For this purpose, the household appliance 100 can be divided into a base part 120 and a removable operating part 110, wherein the operating part 110 can be fixed at the base part 120 in order to provide the complete household appliance 100, and wherein the operating part 110 can be removed from the base part 120, for example in order to replace the operating part 110 with another type of operating part 110 (for example for extending the functional range of the household appliance 100).
The household appliance 100 may be provided with N different types of operating parts 110 (N = 2, 3, 4 or more than 4), for example. Exemplary types of the operation portion 110 are:
a basic type, for example with one or more mechanical operating elements 112 and/or LED or LCD based output elements 113 (e.g. with a smaller number of segments);
a standard type having, for example, a TFT screen as the output element 113 with a separate operating element 112;
advanced types, which for example (if necessary only) comprise a screen that is sensitive to touch; and/or
Passive or dependent types, which for example do not enable direct user interaction, but which provide a data interface with an external user interface (for example on the user device of the user or on the operating part 110 of the other household appliance 100).
It is thus possible for the user to combine different types of operating parts 110 with the base part 120 in a flexible manner in order to provide the household appliance 100 with a user interface.
The operating part 110 comprises a (data and/or provisioning) interface 115 which is configured complementarily to the (data and/or provisioning) interface 105 of the base part 120 and enables data communication between the base part 120 and the operating part 110 and/or power supply of the operating part 110 by the base part 120.
In an example, the control unit 111 of the household appliance 100 is (at least partially) arranged in the operating portion 110. Adjustment of the computing and/or memory resources of the household appliance can thus be achieved by simply replacing the operating section 110. The control unit 111 may be arranged for communicating from the operating part 110 with the base part 120 via the interfaces 105, 115, for example in order to control one or more actuators 101 of the household appliance 100.
The household appliance 100 may thus be divided into a base part 120 and an operating part 110 which are configured to be separable from each other. The base part 120 may comprise mechanical and/or electrical components 101, 102 of the household appliance 100, by means of which one or more functions of the household appliance 100 are provided. In the shown example of a laundry washing machine, the base part 120 comprises, for example, a washing drum 102 and a drive motor 101 for driving the washing drum 102. Further, the base portion 120 includes one or more heating elements, for example, to heat water.
The operating portion 120 may comprise a user interface 112, 113 and, if necessary (at least partially), a control unit 111 of the household appliance 100. In other words, the operating section 120 may comprise one or more (electronic) components of the household appliance 100, which enable user interaction and, if necessary, control of the household appliance 100. By such tasks and/or component division, the interaction possibilities and/or the functional range of the household appliance 100 can be effectively adjusted by exchanging the operating part 110.
In a perspective view, fig. 2a shows an exemplary base part 120 and fig. 2b and 2c show an exemplary operating part 110 of the household appliance 100. The base part 120 includes a housing 203 with a hollow 201 for accommodating the operating part 110. The household appliance 100 may be cuboid-shaped in the assembled state. The recess 201 can be complementary to the shape of the housing 210 of the operating element 110 in such a way that the base part 120 and the operating element 110 used together form a cuboid-shaped domestic appliance 100. In the example shown, the housing 210 of the operating part 110 is cuboid and the housing 203 of the base part 120 has a corresponding cuboid cutout 201.
Furthermore, the housing 203 of the base part 120 has one or more fastening elements 202 which, together with one or more corresponding or complementary fastening elements 212 of the operating part 110, effect a (detachable) fixing of the operating part 110 at the base part 120. The fastening elements 202, 212 of the base part 120 and of the operating part 110 may, for example, each form a form-fitting connection in pairs. The fastening elements 202, 212 may form, for example, a dovetail connection in pairs. The base part 120 may alternatively or additionally have a frame as the fastening element 202, into which the base part 120 can be moved. Thus enabling the user to fasten the operating part 110 at the base part 120 in a comfortable and reliable manner, for example to move onto the base part 120 and/or to detach from the base part 120.
One or more operating elements 112 and/or one or more display elements 113 can be arranged on the front side of the operating part 110, wherein the front side of the operating part 110 is arranged on the front side of the domestic appliance 100 in the installed state of the operating part 110 (as shown in fig. 2 b). The (data and/or provisioning) interface 115 of the operating portion 110 may be arranged at the back side of the operating portion 110 (as shown in fig. 2 c).
In a preferred example, the interfaces 105, 115 enable contactless and/or wireless data and/or energy transfer between the base part 120 and the operating part 110. Inductive energy transfer from the base part 120 to the operating part 110 can be realized, for example, via the interfaces 105, 115. In the context of inductive energy transfer, data communication between the base part 120 and the operating part 110 can then also be carried out if necessary (for example by modulation of an alternating field for energy transfer). Alternatively or additionally, a wireless communication interface (e.g. bluetooth, WLAN, RFID) may be implemented. The use of the interfaces 105, 115 for contactless and/or wireless data and/or energy transmission enables a particularly safe and comfortable separation between the operating part 110 and the base part 120 (in particular in a domestic appliance 100 which is operated with water and/or in a humid environment).
A household appliance 100 is thus described which has a wireless power and data interface 105, 115 to a detachable operating part 110, if necessary, so that the operating part 110 of the household appliance 100 can be replaced by a user without touching an (electrical) plug connection or any cable there. The operating part 110 can be exchanged, for example, in order to equip the household appliance 100 with new functions, in order to repair the household appliance 100, in order to change the design of the household appliance 100, and/or in order to change, in particular to expand, the interaction possibilities with the household appliance 100. The energy transfer between the base part 120 and the operating part 110 of the household appliance 100 can be accomplished by inductive energy transfer. Data transmission may be accomplished by modulation of the energy transmission and/or through a separate data channel (e.g., bluetooth, RFID, radio connection, etc.).
By providing the household appliance 100 with the base part 120 and the exchangeable operating part 110, different variants of the household appliance 100 can be provided in an efficient and flexible manner. Furthermore, an efficient and flexible personalization of the household appliance 100 may be achieved. Furthermore, the interaction possibilities of the household appliance 100 can be adjusted quickly and flexibly (for example by exchanging the operating panel). Further, the functional range can be effectively and flexibly expanded by replacing the control hardware and/or control software in the operation portion 110. The functional safety of the exchangeable operating part 110 is ensured here by providing the interfaces 105, 115 with electrical insulation.
The operating portion 110 may be configured such that the operating portion 110 can be used with different types of home appliances 100. The different types of household appliances 100 may differ, in particular, in the function of the household appliance 100 in a household and/or in one or more objects processed by the household appliance 100. Exemplary different types of household appliances 100 are: a washing machine; a dryer; a dishwasher; a furnace; a refrigerator; a range hood; coffee machines, automatic beverage machines, and/or chef machines.
Fig. 3 shows an exemplary operating part 110 of fig. 1, which, as an alternative to a base part 120 for a washing machine, is also combined with a base part 120 for a dishwasher. The control unit 111 of the base part 110 can be configured to determine with which type of household appliance 100 the base part 110 is used at a particular point in time. The software of the operating portion 110 may then be adjusted according to the determined type of the home appliance. In particular, the software of the operating section 110 can be adapted such that a user interaction with the household appliance 100 is enabled via one or more operating elements 112 of the operating section 110 and/or via one or more output elements 113, which user interaction matches the determined household appliance type. The operating section 110 can thus be designed to be adapted to the respective household appliance type by means of a "plug and play" mechanism. Different types of user interfaces for the household appliance 100 can thus be provided in a particularly cost-effective and flexible manner. In particular, the unique operating portion 110 can be developed and maintained in an efficient manner, which can then be used in a flexible manner for different types of household appliances 100. In other words, it is enabled to use the same configuration of the operating portions 110 in different types of different household appliances 100, respectively.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown. It is to be noted in particular that the description and the drawings shall only clarify the principle of the proposed operating part and/or household appliance.
