Detailed Description
The present invention will be described in further detail with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples. It is to be understood that the specific embodiments described herein are merely illustrative of the invention and are not limiting of the invention. It should be further noted that, for the convenience of description, only some of the structures related to the present invention are shown in the drawings, not all of the structures.
As mentioned in the background art, the conventional display panel has display unevenness, and the inventors have found through research that the reason why such a problem occurs is that: the existing technology can not completely solve the problem of display uniformity of the panel, so a compensation algorithm of a driving IC of a control module is generally used for improving the display uniformity of the panel, however, due to the capacity limitation of a storage module in the display panel, the existing brightness compensation method can only store display compensation data with higher compression rate in the storage module of the display panel, but the compensation precision of the display compensation data with higher compression rate is lower, and the display compensation data is adopted for compensation during display, so that the display pictures with certain display frequencies can not be compensated well.
Based on the above technical problem, the present embodiment proposes the following solutions:
fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a display device according to an embodiment of the present invention, and referring to fig. 1, the display device includes:
a display panel 10 and a main control panel 20;
the display panel 10 includes a driving module 12 and a plurality of sub-pixel units 11;
the driving module 12 is configured to call the fine compensation data from the main control board 20 to compensate the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 when the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 display a picture.
The display panel 10 includes a display area and a non-display area, the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 are located in the display area, the driving module 12 is located in the non-display area, and the driving module 12 is configured to drive the sub-pixel units 11 to display a picture. Each sub-pixel unit 11 may include a pixel driving circuit and a light emitting structure, and the driving module 12 is configured to send a driving signal to the driving circuit to enable the driving circuit to drive the light emitting structure to emit light. The driving module 12 may be a driving IC. The display device can be an electronic device such as a mobile phone, a tablet or a smart watch. The sub-pixel unit 11 is compensated by calling the fine compensation data from the main control board 20 during display, and the main control board 20 of the display device has a larger storage space, so that the display compensation data with higher precision and larger data volume and a plurality of display compensation data corresponding to different picture refreshing frequencies can be stored, and the display compensation precision of the display device is improved.
The display device of this embodiment compensates the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 by calling the fine compensation data from the main control board 20 when displaying, because the main control board 20 of the display device has a large storage space, the display compensation data with higher storage precision and larger data volume and a plurality of display compensation data corresponding to a plurality of different picture refresh frequencies can be stored, the display compensation precision of the display panel is improved, and the capacity expansion of the storage module in the display panel 10 is not required, thereby ensuring that the display device has a lower cost.
It should be noted that the fine compensation data may be stored in the main control board 20 of the display device in advance when the display device is manufactured, or the fine compensation data may be stored in the server in advance, and the main control board 20 downloads the fine compensation data from the server when the display device is networked for the first time.
Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of another display device provided in an embodiment of the present invention, and optionally, referring to fig. 2, the main control board 20 includes a control module 21 and a first storage module 22;
the control module 21 is used for downloading the fine compensation data from the server when the network is connected for the first time, and storing the fine compensation data in the first storage module 22;
the display panel 10 further includes a second storage module 13;
the second storage module 13 is used for storing coarse compensation data of a plurality of sub-pixel units 11;
the driving module 12 is configured to compensate the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 by using the coarse compensation data when the control module 21 does not download the fine compensation data, and compensate the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 by using the coarse compensation data and/or the fine compensation data after the control module 21 downloads the fine compensation data; wherein, the data volume of the coarse compensation data is smaller than that of the fine compensation data.
The first storage module 22 may include a fixed storage device and an external storage device of the display device. For example, the first memory module is a memory card carried by the body of the mobile phone, or an externally-inserted memory card. The second memory module 13 may be a flash IC of the display panel 10. The data amount of the coarse compensation data is smaller than that of the fine compensation data, and the compensation accuracy of the display compensation performed on the display panel 10 by using the coarse compensation data is smaller than that of the fine compensation data. The memory space occupied by the coarse compensation data is small, so that the display panel 10 does not need to be provided with a large first memory module 22, and the cost of the display panel 10 is reduced.
Optionally, the coarse compensation data includes first refresh frequency compensation data, and the fine compensation data includes second refresh frequency compensation data, … …, and nth refresh frequency compensation data, where n is an integer greater than or equal to 2;
the driving module 12 is configured to, after the control module 21 downloads the fine compensation data, compensate the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 by using corresponding compensation data in the coarse compensation data and the fine compensation data according to the picture refresh frequency.
Specifically, the first refresh frequency compensation data is display compensation data of each sub-pixel unit 11 when the display panel 10 displays the picture by using the first picture refresh frequency, the second refresh frequency compensation data is display compensation data of each sub-pixel unit 11 when the display panel 10 displays the picture by using the second picture refresh frequency, and the nth refresh frequency compensation data is display compensation data of each sub-pixel unit 11 when the display panel 10 displays the picture by using the nth picture refresh frequency. The first refresh frequency compensation data may be compensation data corresponding to a most frequently used screen refresh frequency of the display device.
The first refresh frequency compensation data, the second refresh frequency compensation data, … …, and the nth refresh frequency compensation data may be determined using the following process:
1. selecting a first picture refresh rate code, lighting the display panel 10 in a darkroom, and acquiring brightness data of the display panel 10 under different gray scales by using a Demura device, wherein the acquired data parameters of the Demura device use parameters suitable for the first picture refresh rate. The brightness under a plurality of different gray scales can be collected, and the gray scale can adopt the following gray scales: 32. 64, 96, 128, 192, etc., respectively, for the R, G, B monochrome picture at each gray level.
2. After the first frame refresh rate data is acquired, the second frame refresh rate code and the second set of Demura device parameters are switched, and the luminance data of the display panel 10 is acquired in the same manner, wherein the acquired gray scale can be the same as the gray scale of the first frame refresh rate or the gray scale most suitable for the second set of refresh rate is selected, and the luminance data of R, G, B monochrome frames under each gray scale is acquired.
3. After the second frame refresh rate data is acquired, the third frame refresh rate code and the third set of Demura device parameters are switched, and the brightness data of the display panel 10 is acquired in the same manner, wherein the gray scale can be the same as the second set or the best suitable gray scale for the third frame refresh rate. And by analogy, collecting all picture refreshing frequency data.
4. And generating a compensation data file by using the Demura algorithm and using each group of refresh rate data, wherein the data file can be a binary file.
5. And storing the compensation data file generated by the Demrua algorithm and transmitting the compensation data file to a quality judgment site, selecting a corresponding compensation file by a quality judgment person according to the refresh rate, writing the compensation data file into a Demrua RAM of the DDIC (drive module 12), judging the effect, and reserving and storing the file which reaches the display standard. And (4) acquiring data again by virtue of the Demura equipment for the effect files which do not reach the standard, and judging.
6. And performing centralized processing on the compensation data passing the verification in the last step, classifying the compensation data according to the ID of the display panel 10, burning the compensation data file corresponding to one screen refreshing frequency of each display panel into a Flash IC (a second storage module 13) of the display panel 10 after the judgment of the compensation data file is completed, and transmitting other compensation data files to a network storage pool (a server) according to the ID classification. For example, the first refresh frequency compensation data may be stored in the second storage module 13 of the display panel 10, so as to ensure that the display device can compensate the display frames with the respective refresh frequencies to a certain extent when not networked, and ensure that the display panel 10 has a better display effect.
After the display device is sold, when the display device is networked for the first time, the control module 21 downloads corresponding fine compensation data from the server according to the ID of the display panel 10, stores the fine compensation data in the first storage module 22, and when the picture refresh frequency is switched, the driving module 12 calls the compensation data with the corresponding frequency according to the picture refresh frequency to compensate the sub-pixel unit 11, so that the display device is ensured to have a better display effect. The first storage module 22 then permanently stores the fine compensation data, and can use the fine compensation data to compensate whether or not the network is connected. For example, when a picture is displayed at a first picture refresh frequency, the driving module 12 calls the first picture refresh frequency from the second storage module 13 to perform compensation, and when a picture is displayed at a second picture refresh frequency, … … or an nth picture refresh frequency, the driving module 12 calls corresponding compensation data from the first storage module 22 to perform compensation.
Optionally, the coarse compensation data includes at least one coarse compensation sub-data with a refresh frequency, and the fine compensation data includes a first refresh frequency compensation data, a second refresh frequency compensation data, … …, and an nth refresh frequency compensation data, where n is an integer greater than or equal to 2; the data quantity of the coarse compensation subdata of each refreshing frequency is smaller than the fine compensation data of the corresponding refreshing frequency;
the driving module 12 is configured to, after the control module 21 downloads the fine compensation data, compensate the plurality of sub-pixel units 11 by using corresponding compensation data in the fine compensation data according to the picture refresh frequency.
Specifically, the compensation data of a certain refresh frequency can be compressed at a higher compression rate to obtain coarse compensation subdata corresponding to the picture refresh frequency, and the coarse compensation subdata is stored in the second storage module 13, so that the data amount of the coarse compensation data is further reduced, the storage capacity of the second storage module 13 is reduced, and the cost is reduced. The compensation data of the lower compression rate of the refresh frequency and the compensation data of the other picture refresh frequency are stored in the preset position of the server, and the control module 21 downloads the first refresh frequency compensation data, the second refresh frequency compensation data, … … and the nth refresh frequency compensation data to the first storage module 22. Before the fine compensation data is not downloaded, the driving module 12 may use the coarse compensation sub-data to compensate the sub-pixel unit 11, so as to ensure that the display panel 10 has a certain compensation effect, and after the fine compensation data is downloaded, the driving module 12 invokes the compensation data with a frequency corresponding to the picture refresh frequency in the fine compensation data to compensate, so as to ensure that the display panel 10 has a better compensation effect.
The compensation data of each refreshing frequency can be compressed at a higher compression ratio to obtain coarse compensation subdata corresponding to each refreshing frequency, the coarse compensation subdata corresponding to each picture refreshing frequency is stored in the second coarse storage module, and the compensation data with the lower compression ratio of each picture refreshing frequency is combined into fine compensation data to be stored in the server. Before the fine compensation data is not downloaded, the driving module 12 may use the coarse compensation sub-data corresponding to each frame refresh frequency to compensate the sub-pixel unit 11, so as to ensure that the display panel 10 has a certain compensation effect.
For example, two compensation files may be generated for 60Hz compensation data, the file names are bin1_1 and bin1_2, wherein the compression rate of the bin1_1 file is relatively high, which may ensure a general display effect, and the compression rate of the bin1_2 file is relatively low, which may ensure a better display effect of the display panel 10. The bin1_2 file is uploaded to the network resource pool, and the bin1_1 file is burned into the Flash IC of the display panel 10 for permanent curing. For other refresh frequencies, the compensation files bin2 and bin3 are generated by using parameters with low compression rate, and finally the bin1_2, bin2 and bin3 data are uploaded to a network resource pool and are subsequently downloaded and called by the display device. When the display device does not download the fine compensation data, each picture refreshing frequency is compensated by using bin1_1 only, and after the fine compensation data is downloaded, the fine compensation data of the corresponding frequency is selected according to the picture refreshing frequency for compensation.
Optionally, the coarse compensation data includes first frequency coarse compensation sub-data, second frequency coarse compensation sub-data, … …, and mth frequency coarse compensation sub-data, where m is an integer less than n;
the driving module 12 is configured to, when the fine compensation data is not downloaded by the control module 21, compensate the sub-pixel unit 11 with the ith frequency coarse compensation sub-data when the ith picture refresh frequency is used to display a picture, and compensate the sub-pixel unit 11 with the jth frequency coarse compensation sub-data corresponding to the sth picture refresh frequency closest to the jth picture refresh frequency when the jth picture refresh frequency is used to display a picture; wherein i and s are integers greater than 0 and less than or equal to m; j is an integer greater than m and less than or equal to n.
Specifically, in order to reduce the storage capacity of the second storage module 13 and reduce the cost of the display panel 10, the coarse compensation data may include m coarse compensation sub-data corresponding to the picture refresh frequency, where m is smaller than n. For example, two compensation files may be generated for 60Hz compensation data, the file names are bin1_1 and bin1_2, wherein the compression rate of the bin1_1 file is relatively high, which can ensure a general display effect, the compression rate of the bin1_2 file is relatively low, and the display effect of the display panel 10 is ensured to be better when writing into the Demura RAM. Two compensation files are generated for 90Hz compensation data, the file names are bin2_1 and bin2_2 respectively, wherein the compression ratio of the bin2_1 file is relatively high, so that the general display effect can be ensured, the compression ratio of the bin2_2 file is relatively small, and the display effect of the display panel 10 is ensured to be better when the file is written into a Demura RAM. The bin1_2 and bin2_2 files are uploaded to a network resource pool, and the bin1_1 and bin2_1 files are burned into a Flash IC of the display panel 10 to be permanently solidified. For other refresh frequencies, such as 140Hz, etc., the bin3 is generated by using parameters with small compression rate, and the bin3 data is uploaded to the network resource pool and then downloaded and called by the display device. When the fine compensation data is not downloaded, if a 60Hz display picture is adopted, the bin1_1 is directly adopted for compensation, when a 90Hz display picture is adopted, the bin2_1 is directly adopted for compensation, and when a 140Hz display picture is adopted, the compensation file bin2_1 corresponding to the 90Hz closest to the 140Hz can be adopted for compensation.
Optionally, the driver module 12 calls the fine compensation data from the main control board 20 through the MIPI interface.
Specifically, the main control board 20 writes the compensation data into the RAM of the driving module 12 through the MIPI interface, so as to implement the display compensation on the sub-pixel unit 11.
The embodiment also provides a compensation method of a display panel, wherein the display panel comprises a driving module and a plurality of sub-pixel units.
