The notebook computer is a commonly used portable electronic device, mainly seeking to be light, thin, short, small and easy to carry, so in many notebook computers with small size (for example, below 13 inches), the keyboard only has a basic key zone, but does not have independent extended function key zones, such as a numeric keypad, a game key zone and the like, the function keys are often integrated on the basic key, that is, the keys with the same positions as the basic keys are used, if a user wants to use the function keys, the user often needs to find the function keys with the same positions as the basic keys on the keyboard, and the extended function keys can be used only after pressing a specific switching key, for the user, the user needs to find the positions of the extended function keys on the keyboard, and can use the extended function keys after pressing the specific switching key, undoubtedly causing inconvenience in use.

Referring to fig. 1 and fig. 2, the method for controlling a touch pad of the present invention, in an embodiment, refers to a touch pad 20 applied to a notebook computer 10, and a screen 30 and the touch pad 20 of the notebook computer 10 are respectively disposed on two opposite sides of a keyboard 40, but not limited thereto. The touch pad 20 has a touch operation surface 21.
Referring to fig. 3, in an embodiment, the touch panel 20 includes a cover plate 200, a touch layer 201, a light guide layer 22, a pattern layer 23, and a light emitting element 24, the cover plate 200 is made of a transparent or semi-transparent plate, the touch operation surface 21 is disposed on the cover plate 200, the touch layer 201 is disposed below the cover plate 200, when an object is in contact with or close to the cover plate 200, touch information of the object is obtained by sensing of the touch layer 201, the light guide layer 22 is disposed below the cover plate 200, the pattern layer 23 is disposed between the light guide layer 22 and the cover plate 200 (in an embodiment, the pattern layer 23 and the light guide layer 22 are integrated into a whole, as shown in TW No. I399681), and the light emitting element 24 is disposed at a side of the light guide layer 22 for emitting light toward a side of the light guide layer 22. In the following, a number of different embodiments are described to further illustrate possible touch gestures respectively allowable in the first region 211 and the second region 212, but not limited thereto.
In one embodiment, when in the second mode, the touch gesture allowed by the operation of the corresponding object in the first region 211 is a press (Click), and the touch gesture allowed by the operation of the corresponding object in the second region 212 is a single-finger Tap (Tap), so that the press and the single-finger Tap are different touch gestures allowed in the two regions respectively.
