In this embodiment of the present application, after the compression end device determines the start position of the first portion in the ethernet frame, the first portion and the second portion in the ethernet frame may be distinguished based on the start position of the first portion, so as to implement compression of the first portion and/or the second portion, respectively. Accordingly, the decompressing-side device may distinguish and obtain the first part and/or the second part in the ethernet frame based on the starting position of the first part in the ethernet frame before or after decompressing the ethernet frame.
It should be understood that the specific contents of the first portion and the second portion are not additionally limited in the embodiments of the present application. For example, in other alternative embodiments, the starting position of the first portion is before the starting position of the second portion, whereby the first device may compress and decompress the first portion and/or the second portion, respectively, based on the starting position of the second portion.
For ease of understanding, the following describes exemplary formats of ethernet frames that can be used in embodiments of the present application with reference to the drawings.
In one embodiment of the present application, the Ethernet frame may be an Ethernet II frame type. For example, as shown in fig. 3, the ethernet frame may include a header of the ethernet frame and a data part of the ethernet frame, wherein the header of the ethernet frame may include a destination address, a source address, and a type, and the data part of the ethernet frame may include data. There are two more parts, preamble and Frame Check Sequence (FCS), that are not transmitted in a 5G network.
Further, in the frame format shown in fig. 3, the embodiment of the present application does not limit the specific position of the header of the data portion.
For example, in one embodiment of the present application, the header of the ethernet frame may include the header of the data portion.
For another example, in another embodiment of the present application, the data portion may include a header of the data portion.
For another example, in another embodiment of the present application, the header of the data section may be located between the header of the ethernet frame and the data section.
In another embodiment of the present application, the ethernet frame may be an IEEE 802.3 SNAP frame type. For example, as shown in fig. 4, the ethernet frame may include a header of the ethernet frame, which may include a destination address, a source address, and a length, and a data part of the ethernet frame, which may include data. There may additionally be two parts, namely preamble and FCS, that are not transmitted in a 5G network.
Similarly, in the frame format shown in fig. 4, the specific position of the header of the data portion is not limited in the embodiment of the present application.
It should be understood that the frame format of the ethernet frame shown in fig. 3 and 4 is only an example, and should not be construed as limiting the embodiments of the present application. For example, as shown in fig. 5, in other alternative embodiments, a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) field may be added to the frame format shown in fig. 4, and the VLAN field is used to indicate information about a VLAN.
It should also be understood that various implementations of the embodiments of the present application may also be applied to other types of frames besides ethernet frames, and for brevity, the embodiments of the present application are not described herein again.
A specific implementation of S210 will be described below.
In S210, the first device may compress the first part and/or the second part based on a sub-protocol (profile) Identifier (Identifier, ID), may compress the first part and/or the second part and/or the data part based on a sub-protocol (profile) Identifier (Identifier, ID), and may compress the first part and/or the second part and/or the data part together based on a sub-protocol (profile) Identifier (Identifier, ID). This is not particularly limited in the embodiments of the present application.
It should be understood that the first partially based sub-protocol ID and the second partially based sub-protocol ID may be the same, and that the first partially based sub-protocol ID and the second partially based sub-protocol ID may not be the same. This is not particularly limited in the embodiments of the present application.
It should also be understood that the sub-protocol IDs mentioned in the embodiments of the present application may indicate compression objects and compression policies.
Wherein the compression object may correspond to a protocol employed by the data portion and/or to an ethernet frame type employed by the header (second portion) and/or whether the header (second portion) includes a VLAN field. The compression policy may indicate how compression is to be achieved.
Optionally, in this embodiment of the present application, the protocol used by the data portion may include, but is not limited to:
encapsulating Security Payload (ESP), Internet Protocol (IP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) Protocol, etc., and the compression policy may include RFC 5225, RFC 6846, RFC 3095, RFC 4815, etc.
Optionally, in this embodiment of the present application, the types of the ethernet frame may include, but are not limited to:
the frame types of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) IEEE 802.3 Service Access Point (SAP) and Ethernet II may include other frame types, and the embodiment of the present invention is not particularly limited thereto. Alternatively, the ethernet frame differentiation may be made by whether or not the VLAN field is included.
The sub-protocol IDs of the embodiments of the present application are exemplarily described below with reference to table 1.
TABLE 1
Sub-protocol ID | Compression object (Usage) | Compression strategy (Reference) |
0x0000 | Without compression | RFC 5795 |
0x0001 | RTP/UDP/IP | RFC 3095,RFC 4815 |
0x0002 | UDP/IP | RFC 3095,RFC 4815 |
0x0003 | ESP/IP | RFC 3095,RFC 4815 |
0x0004 | IP | RFC 3843,RFC 4815 |

0x0102 | UDP/IP | RFC 5225 |
0x0103 | ESP/IP | RFC 5225 |
0x0104 | IP | RFC 5225 |
As shown in table 1, the compression object of one sub-protocol ID may correspond to one or more protocols, and the corresponding compression policy may be one or more. For example, the protocol corresponding to the compression object of 0x0004 is IP, and the compression policy of 0x0004 may include RFC 3843 and RFC 4815.
It should be understood that table 1 is only one example of the present application and should not be construed as limiting the embodiments of the present application. For example, in other alternative embodiments, one sub-protocol ID may correspond to either an included or an excluded VLAN field, or both.
It should also be understood that the compression operation of the first device may be performed by a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer or entity of the first device, or may be performed by a new layer, or a PDU layer. The method is used for supporting different Data Radio Bearer (DRB), QOS flow and PDU session, and different compression objects and compression strategies are used according to the configured sub-protocol ID.
A specific implementation manner of determining the start position of the first portion in the ethernet frame by the first device according to the embodiment of the present application is described below.
The first embodiment is as follows:
and the first equipment determines the starting position of the first part according to the frame format information of the Ethernet frame.
For example, the first device may determine the start position of the first portion according to format information of an ethernet frame specified by a protocol. For another example, the first device may determine the starting position of the first portion according to format information of an ethernet frame configured by the network. For another example, the first device may determine the starting position of the first portion according to format information of an ethernet frame negotiated by the first device and the second device.
Example two:
the first device determines the length of the second portion, and then the first device determines the starting position of the first portion according to the length of the second portion.
An implementation of the first device determining the length of the second portion in this embodiment is described below.
As an embodiment, the first device may determine the length of the second portion according to frame format information of the ethernet frame.
For example, the first device may determine the length of the second portion according to format information of an ethernet frame specified by a protocol. For another example, the first device may determine the length of the second portion according to format information of an ethernet frame configured by the network. For another example, the first device may determine the length of the second portion according to format information of an ethernet frame negotiated by the first device and the second device.
As another embodiment, the first device generates and transmits first indication information indicating a length of the second portion. Specifically, after the first device generates the first indication information, the first device sends the first indication information to a second device.
For example, the first indication information is specifically used to indicate the length of the second portion in the ethernet frame, and/or the first indication information is specifically used to indicate the length of the second portion in the compressed ethernet frame, and/or the first indication information is specifically used to indicate the length of the compressed second portion in the compressed ethernet frame.
Optionally, the compressed ethernet frame includes the first indication information.
In this embodiment of the application, the first device is a compression end, that is, after the compression end determines and generates first indication information for indicating the length of the second portion, the first indication information is sent to a decompression end, and the decompression end may determine the length of the second portion according to the first indication information. In other words, the first device may generate the first indication information before compressing the ethernet frame, or may generate the first indication information after compressing the ethernet frame, which is not specifically limited in this embodiment of the application.
Since the first indication information is information generated by the compression end and sent to the decompression end, the first device in this embodiment may be a network device or a terminal device, that is, the specific type of the first device is not limited in this embodiment.
As another embodiment, the first device determines the length of the second portion based on second indication information.
For example, the second indication information is specifically used for indicating the fixed length of the second part in the ethernet frame, and/or the second indication information is specifically used for indicating the fixed length of the second part in the compressed ethernet frame, and/or the second indication information is specifically used for indicating the fixed length of the compressed second part in the compressed ethernet frame.
Optionally, the second indication information may be preconfigured information.
For example, the compression end and the decompression end both determine the length of the second part through the second indication information.
Optionally, the second indication information is configured through radio resource control, RRC, signaling.
For example, assuming that the first device is a terminal device, the terminal device may determine the length of the second portion according to second indication information sent by a network device.
For another example, assuming that the first device is a network device, the network device may generate the second indication information and send the second indication information to a terminal device, so that the terminal device compresses or decompresses an ethernet frame according to the second indication information after receiving the second indication information. Meanwhile, the network device may compress or decompress the ethernet frame directly according to the second indication information.
Since the second indication information may be transmitted in a semi-static configuration or dynamic configuration manner, in this embodiment of the application, the second indication information may be further associated with at least one of the following information:
quality of service (QoS) flows, Protocol Data Unit (PDU) sessions, and Data Radio Bearers (DRBs).
In other words, the first device needs to determine the second indication information before determining the length of the second portion. Specifically, the first device determines first information in a plurality of information, wherein the plurality of information corresponds to at least one indication information; and the first equipment determines the indication information corresponding to the first information as the second indication information. Then, the first device determines the length of the second portion according to the second indication information.
For example, taking the first information as the QoS flow as an example, the first device determines the first QoS flow among a plurality of QoS flows, where the plurality of QoS flows correspond to at least one indication information, and the first device determines the indication information corresponding to the first QoS flow as the second indication information.
For another example, taking the first information as the PDU session as an example, the first device determines the first PDU session in a plurality of PDU sessions, where the plurality of PDU sessions correspond to at least one piece of indication information, and the first device determines the indication information corresponding to the first PDU session as the second indication information.
For another example, taking the first information as the DRB, the first device determines a first DRB among a plurality of DRBs, where the plurality of DRBs correspond to at least one piece of indication information, and the first device determines the indication information corresponding to the first DRB as the second indication information.
It should be understood that, in the embodiments of the present application, different information in the plurality of information corresponds to the same or different indication information.
For example, different ones of the plurality of QoS flows may correspond to the same or different indication information.
For another example, different ones of the plurality of PDU sessions correspond to the same or different indication information.
For another example, different DRBs in the plurality of DRBs correspond to the same or different indication information.
Optionally, in some embodiments of the present application, the compressed ethernet frame includes identification information of the first information.
Therefore, after the first device sends the compressed ethernet frame to the second device, the second device may determine the first information from the plurality of information according to that the compressed ethernet frame includes the identification information of the first information, and further determine the second indication information corresponding to the first information according to the first information.
It should be understood that, in the embodiment of the present application, a specific implementation manner of determining, by the first terminal device, the starting position of the first portion according to the starting position of the second portion and the length of the second portion is not limited.
For example, the start position of the second portion is the start position of the ethernet frame.
Thus, the first device may determine a position after the start position of the ethernet frame by a distance of the length of the second portion as the start position of the first portion directly.
It should be understood that the above-mentioned embodiment is only an example of the present application, and should not be construed as limiting the embodiments of the present application.
For example, in other alternative embodiments, the start position of the second portion and the start position of the ethernet frame are spaced apart by a fixed length. Thus, the first device may determine the length of the second portion and the position of the fixed length after the start position of the ethernet frame as the start position of the first portion.
It should also be understood that the embodiment of the present application does not limit the specific embodiment of the length of the second portion.
For example, the length of the second portion may be the number of bits occupied by the second portion in the ethernet frame, that is, the first device may directly determine or indicate the length of the second portion by the number of bits occupied by the second portion in the ethernet frame.
For another example, the length of the second portion may be a percentage of the ethernet frame occupied by the second portion, i.e. the first device may directly determine or represent the length of the second portion by the percentage of the ethernet frame occupied by the second portion.
The preferred embodiments of the present application have been described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, however, the present application is not limited to the details of the above embodiments, and various simple modifications may be made to the technical solution of the present application within the technical concept of the present application, and these simple modifications are all within the protection scope of the present application.
For example, the various features described in the foregoing detailed description may be combined in any suitable manner without contradiction, and various combinations that may be possible are not described in this application in order to avoid unnecessary repetition.
For example, various embodiments of the present application may be arbitrarily combined with each other, and the same should be considered as the disclosure of the present application as long as the concept of the present application is not violated.
It should be understood that, in the various method embodiments of the present application, the sequence numbers of the above-mentioned processes do not mean the execution sequence, and the execution sequence of each process should be determined by its function and inherent logic, and should not constitute any limitation to the implementation process of the embodiments of the present application.
The method of compressing ethernet frames according to an embodiment of the present application is described in detail above from the perspective of the first device compressing the first section and the second section in conjunction with fig. 2 to 5, and the method of decompressing ethernet frames according to an embodiment of the present application is described below from the perspective of the second device in conjunction with fig. 6.
Fig. 6 shows a schematic flow diagram of a method 300 of decompressing ethernet frames according to an embodiment of the present application.
The method 200 may be performed by a decompression device as shown in fig. 1. As shown in fig. 6, the method 300 includes:

s330, the second device acquires the first part and the second part in the Ethernet frame according to the initial position of the first part; wherein a starting position of the first portion is located after a starting position of the second portion.
Optionally, in some embodiments of the present application, the second device determines a start position of the first portion according to frame format information of the ethernet frame.
Optionally, in some embodiments of the present application, the second device determines a length of the second portion; the second device determines a starting position of the first portion based on a length of the second portion.
