Detailed Description
The present invention will be described in further detail with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples. It is to be understood that the specific embodiments described herein are merely illustrative of the invention and are not limiting of the invention. It should be further noted that, for the convenience of description, only some of the structures related to the present invention are shown in the drawings, not all of the structures.
As mentioned in the background art, the conventional display panel is prone to brightness deviation, and the inventor finds out through research that the reason why such a problem occurs is that the OLED display panel changes the characteristics of the thin film transistor when the display duration of the same gray scale is longer, and when the display duration is switched to the next display gray scale, the brightness deviation exists, and when the display duration is switched from different gray scales to the same display gray scale, the characteristics of the thin film transistor are changed differently, so that the display effect of the display panel is poor.
Based on the above problem, the present embodiment provides a compensation method for a display panel, and fig. 1 is a flowchart of the compensation method for a display panel provided in the present embodiment, and with reference to fig. 1, the method includes:
s110, obtaining the display duration and the pre-display gray scale of the current display gray scale.
The display device comprises a display panel, a display control unit and a pre-display unit, wherein the current display gray scale is the gray scale being displayed by the display panel, the display duration time is the accumulated display time from the beginning to the end of the display of the current display gray scale, and the pre-display gray scale is the gray scale to be displayed after the current display gray scale.
And S120, determining a residual image area and a residual image attenuation curve according to the current display gray scale, the display duration and the pre-display gray scale.
And the ghost attenuation curve is a change curve of the difference value between the display brightness and the target display brightness when the current display gray scale is directly switched to the pre-display gray scale after the display duration is continuously displayed. The method can be used for testing multiple groups of residual shadow attenuation curves when the gray scales are switched to different gray scales after being displayed for different time in advance, storing the residual shadow attenuation curves obtained through testing in the display panel, and directly calling the corresponding residual shadow attenuation curves according to the current display gray scale, the display duration and the pre-display gray scale of the display panel.
In addition, because the display duration is different and the residual shadow degree is different, the residual shadows can be distinguished according to the length of the display duration, the residual shadows appearing when the display duration is longer are short-term residual shadows, and the residual shadows appearing when the display duration is slightly shorter are instant residual shadows. The afterimage attenuation curve may include two types, namely a short-term afterimage attenuation curve and a transient afterimage attenuation curve. In addition, the area in which the display duration is greater than the set time threshold and the absolute value of the difference between the current display gray scale and the pre-display gray scale is greater than the set gray scale threshold may be determined as the ghost area.
S130, determining at least one residual image compensation picture of a residual image area according to a residual image attenuation curve, wherein the residual image compensation picture comprises a plurality of first repeating units, each first repeating unit comprises n display units, the display gray scale of a display unit in each first repeating unit is a pre-display gray scale, the display gray scale of n-a display units is a first set gray scale, and the first set gray scale is not equal to the pre-display gray scale; the first set gray scales of different ghost compensation pictures are different and/or the values of a are different, n is a positive integer greater than or equal to 2, and a is an integer not equal to 0.
The residual image compensation picture is used for compensating the residual image so as to offset the characteristic deviation of the thin film transistor caused by the fact that the display panel is in the current display gray scale for a long time. Illustratively, when the display brightness is slightly bright relative to the target brightness when the pre-display gray scale is directly switched to, namely the residual shadow is a slightly bright residual shadow, the residual shadow compensation picture is used for reducing the brightness of the display picture so as to enable the display brightness to be close to the target brightness; when the display brightness is dark relative to the target brightness when the pre-display gray scale is directly switched to, namely the residual shadow is a dark residual shadow, the residual shadow compensation picture is used for improving the brightness of the display picture so that the display brightness is close to the target brightness.
In addition, because the residual shadow is not constant, when the current display gray scale is directly switched to the pre-display gray scale, the residual shadow degree can be changed along with the change of the display time, so that one or more residual shadow compensation pictures can be set according to the residual shadow attenuation curve to compensate the residual shadows with different degrees. The brightness deviation corresponding to the maximum ghost can be determined according to the ghost attenuation curve, and a ghost compensation picture can be determined according to the maximum brightness deviation so as to quickly compensate the ghost and enable the display brightness to be quickly close to the target brightness.
Specifically, the luminance deviation may be determined according to a residual image attenuation curve, the residual image equivalent picture may be determined according to the luminance deviation, the residual image equivalent picture may include a plurality of second repeating units, each of the second repeating units includes a plurality of display units that display a pre-display gray scale, the plurality of display units display a second set gray scale, the display gray scale of the display unit that displays the second set gray scale in the second repeating unit is replaced with the first set gray scale, and the first repeating unit is determined. Or calculating an equivalent picture with a luminance deviation of-L from the target luminance according to the luminance deviation L, and determining the equivalent picture as a residual image compensation picture. And calculating a compensation superposition picture with the display brightness equal to the brightness deviation L, wherein the compensation superposition picture comprises a plurality of third superposition units, the third superposition units comprise a display units with the display gray scale of 0 and n-a display units with the display gray scale of a third set gray scale, and the pre-display picture with the display gray scale of the pre-display gray scale and the compensation superposition picture are superposed to obtain the ghost compensation picture.
Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of a first repeating unit provided in this embodiment, and referring to fig. 2, the first repeating unit may include 25 display units, for example, the first repeating unit is a 5 × 5 display unit array. The first repeating unit may include 14 display units having a display gray scale of 127 and 11 display units having a display gray scale of 128.
And S140, after the current display gray scale is displayed, controlling a display panel to display the residual image compensation picture, wherein each display unit corresponds to one pixel unit of the display panel.
Specifically, the ghost is compensated by displaying at least one ghost compensation picture, so that the display brightness is close to the target display brightness, and the display effect of the display panel is improved.
The method includes the steps of determining a residual image area and a residual image attenuation curve according to a current display gray scale, a display duration and a pre-display gray scale, and determining at least one residual image compensation picture of the residual image area according to the residual image attenuation curve, wherein the residual image compensation picture comprises a plurality of first repeating units, each first repeating unit comprises n display units, the display gray scale of a display unit in each first repeating unit is equal to the pre-display gray scale, the display gray scale of n-a display units is a set gray scale, the set gray scale is not equal to the pre-display gray scale, and the residual image compensation picture is sequentially displayed after the current display gray scale is displayed. Because the ghost compensation picture is composed of a plurality of first repeating units, the calculation of the ghost compensation picture can be simplified into the direct calculation of the first repeating units, and the calculation of the first repeating units only needs to determine the number of the display units displaying the pre-display gray scale and the number of the display units displaying the first set gray scale associated with the pre-display gray scale, thereby greatly reducing the calculation data amount of the IC, ensuring the ghost improvement effect and reducing the cost of the IC.
Optionally, determining at least one residual image compensation picture of the residual image area according to the residual image attenuation curve includes:
determining at least one residual image equivalent picture according to a residual image attenuation curve, wherein the residual image equivalent picture comprises a plurality of second repeating units, each second repeating unit comprises n display units, the display gray scales of a display units in the second repeating units are pre-display gray scales, the display gray scales of n-a display units are second set gray scales, and the second set gray scales are not equal to the pre-display gray scales;
replacing the display gray scale of the display unit with the second set gray scale in each second repeating unit in the residual image equivalent picture with the first set gray scale to obtain a residual image compensation picture; the difference values of the first set gray scale, the second set gray scale and the pre-display gray scale are opposite numbers.
Specifically, the difference values of the first set gray scale and the second set gray scale and the pre-display gray scale are opposite numbers, and when the difference value of the first set gray scale and the pre-display gray scale is p, the difference value of the second set gray scale and the pre-display gray scale is-p. The second repeating unit is determined according to the pre-display gray scale and a second set gray scale which is different from the pre-display gray scale by a certain gray scale. When the residual image equivalent picture is slightly bright relative to the target brightness, the second set gray scale is larger than the pre-display gray scale, and the partial bright residual image can be reduced by replacing the second set gray scale with the first set gray scale which is smaller than the pre-display gray scale. When the residual image equivalent picture is darker relative to the target brightness, the second set gray scale is smaller than the display gray scale in advance, and the dark residual image can be reduced by replacing the second set gray scale with the first set gray scale which is larger than the pre-display gray scale.
In the embodiment, the ghost equivalent picture comprises a plurality of second repeating units, each second repeating unit comprises n-a display units for displaying pre-display gray scales and a display units for displaying set gray scales, only the value a in the second repeating unit needs to be calculated when the ghost equivalent picture is calculated, the calculation process is simplified, the calculation amount of an IC is reduced, and the first repeating unit can be determined only by replacing the display gray scale of the second set gray scale display unit in the second repeating unit with the first set gray scale, so that the ghost compensation picture is determined, and the calculation process of the ghost compensation picture is simplified. And the difference values of the first set gray scale and the second set gray scale and the pre-display gray scale are opposite numbers, and the ghost can be well compensated by replacing the second set gray scale with the first set gray scale.
The following is an exemplary description of the determination process of the ghost compensation picture with reference to a specific formula:
firstly, the IC identifies a ghost area in which ghosting easily occurs, judges a JND value of the ghost of the next frame according to a ghost attenuation curve, and calculates a ghost equivalent picture according to the JND value:
Figure BDA0002796737890000091
Figure BDA0002796737890000101
wherein La is the luminance of the second repeating unit in the afterimage equivalent picture, Lb is the target luminance, and x is the JND value.
Assuming that the gamma value of the display panel is set to 2.2, then
Figure BDA0002796737890000102
Wherein Lg is the brightness corresponding to the pre-display gray scale g. If the second repeating unit comprises a display units displaying the pre-display gray scale g and n-a display units displaying the set gray scale g + s, then:
Figure BDA0002796737890000103
Figure BDA0002796737890000104
and according to the formula, determining the number n of the display units in the second repeating unit, the pre-display gray scale g, the set gray scale g + s and the ghost image level to obtain the number of the display units corresponding to each gray scale in the second repeating unit. If the image sticking level is 1.2JND, the repeated display unit is 5 × 5, the pre-display gray scale is 127 gray scales, the number a of the inserted 127+ 1-128 gray scales is 11.54 according to the above formula, and the whole number is 12, that is, 12 pixels with 128 gray scales and 13 pixels with 127 gray scales are arranged in the 5 × 5 repeated display unit. The first repeating unit of the ghost compensation frame may include 12 grayscales 126 and 13 grayscales 127.
Optionally, determining at least one residual image compensation picture of the residual image area according to the residual image attenuation curve includes:
determining the brightness deviation L of the residual image brightness and the target brightness corresponding to the pre-display gray scale according to the residual image attenuation curve;
and determining the display picture with the brightness deviation of-L from the target brightness as the ghost compensation picture.
By the arrangement, when the residual image brightness is slightly bright relative to the target brightness, the residual image compensation picture is slightly dark relative to the target brightness, and when the residual image brightness is slightly dark relative to the target brightness, the residual image compensation picture is slightly bright relative to the target brightness, so that the residual image can be compensated well. In addition, the calculation of the residual image compensation picture may refer to the calculation process of the residual image equivalent picture, and this embodiment is not described again.
Optionally, determining at least one residual image compensation picture of the residual image area according to the residual image attenuation curve includes:
determining the brightness deviation L of the residual image brightness and the target brightness corresponding to the pre-display gray scale according to the residual image attenuation curve;
determining a compensation superposition picture according to the brightness deviation L, wherein the display brightness of the compensation superposition picture is the absolute value of L, the compensation superposition picture comprises a plurality of third repetition units, each third repetition unit comprises n display units, the display gray scale of a display unit in the n display units is 0 gray scale, the display gray scale of n-a display units is a third set gray scale, and the third set gray scale is an integer not equal to 0;
and superposing a pre-display picture consisting of a plurality of pre-display gray scales and the compensation superposition picture to obtain the ghost compensation picture.
Specifically, when the luminance deviation L is a positive number, that is, the residual image luminance is slightly higher than the target luminance, the luminance of the compensation superimposed picture is a positive number, and the difference between the pre-displayed picture and the compensation superimposed picture can be made to obtain a residual image compensation picture, so as to compensate for the slightly higher residual image. When the brightness deviation L is a negative number, that is, the residual image brightness is dark relative to the target brightness, the brightness of the compensation superimposed picture is a positive number, and the pre-displayed picture and the compensation superimposed picture can be summed to obtain a residual image compensation picture so as to compensate the dark residual image. The third repeating unit is composed of a 0 gray scale and a third set gray scale, so that the calculation of the third repeating unit is simpler, the calculation of the compensation superposition picture is simpler, and the ghost compensation picture is obtained by performing sum or difference on the pre-display picture and the compensation superposition picture, so that the calculation process of the ghost compensation picture is greatly reduced, the calculation data quantity of the IC is further reduced, and the cost of the IC is reduced.
It should be noted that the third set gray level can be set to 1, 2, or 3 gray levels as required, and this embodiment is not limited in particular.
Optionally, the display units in the first repeating unit, in which the display gray scale is the pre-display gray scale, are uniformly distributed.
By the arrangement, the gray scale distribution of the first repeating units is uniform, the display brightness of the first repeating units is more uniform, and the display brightness of the ghost compensation picture formed by the plurality of first repeating units is more uniform.
Optionally, determining at least one residual image compensation picture of the residual image area according to the residual image attenuation curve includes:
determining a first residual image compensation picture, a second residual image compensation picture … … and an m residual image compensation picture of a residual image area according to the residual image attenuation curve, wherein the first residual image compensation picture corresponds to the residual image brightness at the 1 st moment on the residual image attenuation curve, and the second residual image compensation picture corresponds to the residual image brightness … … at the 2 nd moment on the residual image attenuation curve and the m residual image compensation picture corresponds to the residual image brightness at the m th moment on the residual image attenuation curve;
correspondingly, after the current display gray scale is displayed, the ghost compensation picture is sequentially displayed, including:
displaying the first residual image compensation picture after the current display gray scale is displayed, displaying the second residual image compensation picture after the first residual image compensation picture is displayed for the first time, … …, and displaying the m residual image compensation picture after the m-1 th residual image compensation picture is displayed for the m-1 th time;
the first time is equal to the difference between the second time and the first time, the m-1 time is equal to the difference between the m time and the m-1 time, and m is a positive integer greater than or equal to 2.
Specifically, since the image sticking varies with time, an exemplary first time image sticking luminance and target luminance deviation a1, a second time deviation a2 … …, and an mth time deviation Am, the first image sticking compensation picture may compensate the luminance deviation a1, the second image sticking compensation picture may compensate … … the mth image sticking compensation picture for the luminance deviation a2, and the m image sticking compensation picture may compensate the luminance deviation Am.
For example, after the display of the current display gray scale is completed, the first afterimage compensation picture is displayed from 0 th to 5 th, and the second afterimage compensation picture … … is displayed from 5 th to 10 th.
Optionally, the display time of each afterimage compensation picture is equal.
By the arrangement, the driving difficulty of the display panel is reduced, and the IC cost is further reduced.
Optionally, determining a ghost area and a ghost attenuation curve according to the current display gray scale, the display duration and the pre-display gray scale includes:
and determining the ghost attenuation curve according to a plurality of prestored initial ghost attenuation curves.
Specifically, a plurality of groups of initial ghost attenuation curves when different gray scales are switched to different gray scales after a plurality of groups of different gray scales are displayed for different time can be tested in advance, and the initial ghost attenuation curves obtained through testing are stored in the display panel. And searching whether a corresponding initial afterimage attenuation curve exists according to the current display gray scale, the display duration and the pre-display gray scale of the display panel, and when the corresponding initial afterimage attenuation curve exists, directly taking the initial afterimage attenuation curve as the afterimage attenuation curve corresponding to the current display gray scale, the display duration and the pre-display gray scale. When the corresponding initial ghost attenuation curve does not exist, interpolation operation or fitting operation can be carried out through the initial ghost attenuation curve to determine the ghost attenuation curve corresponding to the current display gray scale, the display duration and the pre-display gray scale. Illustratively, linear interpolation, nonlinear interpolation, or the like may be performed.
