一种通信方法、终端设备和网络设备，该方法包括：终端设备获取指示信息，该指示信息是核心网设备发送给该终端设备的，或该指示信息是预配置在该终端设备上的，该指示信息用于指示该终端设备通过第一无线接入技术RAT对应的接入网设备与网络侧进行通信，其中，该核心网设备与至少两种RAT对应的接入网设备连接，该终端设备支持该至少两种RAT，该至少两种RAT包括该第一RAT；该终端设备利用该第一RAT对应的接入网设备，与网络侧进行通信。本申请实施例提供的通信方法、终端设备和网络设备，当终端设备通过多种RAT对应的接入网设备接入到同一核心网设备时，可以实现终端设备与网络侧之间的通信，并且可以提高终端设备与网络侧之间通信的灵活性。
