Abstract
The present invention relates to a handrail belt cleaning device for an escalator, which is used for cleaning a handrail belt of the escalator, and a protection device and a handrail belt cleaning device, the protection device comprising a cover assembly which is movable between a release position, in which the cover assembly exposes a gap between a housing of the handrail belt cleaning device and a front plate of the escalator, and a cover position, in which the cover assembly covers the gap between the housing of the handrail belt cleaning device and the front plate of the escalator.
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a protection device for a handrail belt cleaning apparatus for an escalator and a handrail belt cleaning apparatus including such a protection device.
Background
A handrail cleaning apparatus is generally installed to an escalator to clean a handrail of the escalator. However, between the handrail cleaning device and the front plate and the guard rail of the escalator, there are often gaps in which passengers may get caught when using the escalator, and thus be injured.
Disclosure of Invention
Therefore, a protection device is needed to protect passengers from getting stuck in these gaps. The invention provides a protection device for a handrail cleaning device of an escalator, the handrail cleaning device being used for cleaning a handrail of the escalator, the protection device comprising a cover assembly, the cover assembly being movable between a release position, in which the cover assembly exposes a gap between a housing of the handrail cleaning device and a front plate of the escalator, and a cover position, in which the cover assembly covers the gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the front plate of the escalator.
Advantageously, the protective device further comprises a fixing member for fixing the covering assembly in the covering position.
Advantageously, the fixing means is an adhesive provided at the end of the covering assembly abutting the front panel.
Advantageously, said fixing means are screws for screwing the covering assembly to the front plate after it has been abutted against the front plate.
Advantageously, the protection device further comprises a flexible member mounted to the housing of the handrail cleaning device, the flexible member being located on both sides of and adjacent to the guard rail of the escalator in a case where the handrail cleaning device is mounted to the escalator, covering a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the guard rail such that the gap is below a predetermined value.
Advantageously, said predetermined value is 4 mm.
Advantageously, the flexible member contacts the guard rail completely covering the gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the guard rail.
Advantageously, the cover assembly is linearly movable between a release position and a cover position between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the front panel of the escalator to fill a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the front panel of the escalator.
Advantageously, the protection device comprises an elastic member mounted to the handrail belt cleaning apparatus, which is connected with the cover assembly to elastically move the cover assembly into abutment with the front plate.
Advantageously, the cover assembly comprises a plurality of plate members, each plate member being independently linearly movable between the housing of the handrail belt cleaning device and the front plate of the escalator to fill the gap in conformity with the shape of the gap.
Advantageously, the protection means comprise a stop for each plate to prevent each plate from sliding out of the housing of the handrail belt cleaning apparatus when it moves linearly.
Advantageously, the frame is provided with screw holes, and the plurality of plate members are fixed at the covering position by tightening the screws and the screw holes after the plurality of plate members are linearly moved to the covering position.
Advantageously, each plate member has an oblong hole, a plurality of plate members are stacked together such that the oblong holes together form a slot, and the guard comprises a frame surrounding the cover assembly, the frame having an insert inserted into the slot formed by the oblong holes to prevent each plate member from sliding out of the housing of the handrail belt cleaning apparatus when moved.
Advantageously, the cover assembly is rotatably movable between a release position and a cover position between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the front panel of the escalator to cover a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the front panel of the escalator.
The invention also provides a handrail belt cleaning device for the escalator, which comprises the protection device.

Detailed Description
Various embodiments according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Here, it is to be noted that, in the drawings, the same reference numerals are given to constituent parts having substantially the same or similar structures and functions, and repeated description thereof will be omitted. The term "sequentially comprising A, B, C, etc" merely indicates the order of the included elements A, B, C, etc. and does not exclude the possibility of including other elements between a and B and/or between B and C.
The drawings in the present specification are schematic views to assist in explaining the concept of the present invention, and schematically show the shapes of respective portions and their mutual relationships.
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to fig. 1 to 6.
Fig. 1 and 2 show schematic views of a handrail cleaning apparatus mounted to an escalator. After the handrail cleaning device is mounted to the escalator, a gap G is formed between the housing 1 of the handrail cleaning device and the front plate 2 of the escalator, and thus a protection device is required to fill or cover the gap, as shown in fig. 1. Thus, the protection device comprises a cover assembly 3 which is movable between a release position, in which the cover assembly exposes the gap G, and a cover position, in which the cover assembly covers the gap G, between the housing of the handrail belt cleaning apparatus and the front plate of the escalator. The protective device further comprises a fixing member which fixes the covering assembly in the covering position, for example, an adhesive provided at an end of the covering assembly abutting the front plate or a screw assembly which screws the covering assembly to the front plate. Advantageously, the cover assembly is flexible.
In an embodiment, as shown in fig. 2, the cover assembly 3 is linearly movable between the housing 1 of the handrail cleaning device and the front panel 2 of the escalator between a release position and a cover position, i.e. can be extended from the housing 1 towards the front panel 2 and can be retracted from the front panel 2 towards the housing 1. The covering assembly 3 comprises a plurality of plates 31, the plates 31 being stacked to form the covering assembly, each plate 31 being independently movable between the housing and the front plate, as shown in figure 3, showing the uppermost plate moving in a forward direction relative to the other plates. In the case where the gap between the housing and the front plate is irregular (for example, in the case where the front plate shown in fig. 1 is irregular), the gap can be filled.
As shown in fig. 3, 4 and 5, each plate member 31 has oblong holes 311, and the oblong holes of the plate members 31 are aligned to form a slot that passes through from top to bottom. The cover assembly 3 is surrounded by a frame 4, which frame 4 is mounted to the housing of the handrail belt cleaning apparatus, with inserts 41, which inserts 41 can be inserted into the slots such that each plate member is prevented from sliding completely out of the housing when it is moved between the housing and the front plate. It should be understood that instead of an insert to prevent each plate from sliding out, any other form of stop may be used to prevent each plate from sliding out. An end of each plate member facing the front plate is formed in a handle shape so as to pull or push the cover assembly in response to manipulation of the plate member, and is provided with an adhesive so as to be adhered to the front plate when each plate member is brought into contact with the front plate. Advantageously, each plate has flexibility. In this embodiment, the frame 4 has screw holes 42 into which screws are screwed and tightened after the plurality of plate members are linearly moved to the covering position, thereby fixing the plurality of plate members at the covering position.
In the above embodiments, the cover assembly may be pushed or pulled manually or electrically. As shown in fig. 7, in another embodiment, the protection device includes an elastic member (e.g., a spring) mounted to the handrail cleaning apparatus, which is connected with the cover assembly to elastically move the cover assembly into abutment with the front plate so as to cover a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the front plate of the escalator.
As shown in fig. 8, in another embodiment, the cover assembly is rotatably movable between a release position and a cover position between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the front plate of the escalator to cover a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the front plate of the escalator.
As shown in fig. 5, the protection device further includes a flexible member 5 mounted to the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus, the flexible member being located at both sides of and adjacent to the guard rail of the escalator in the case where the handrail cleaning apparatus is mounted to the escalator, and covering a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the guard rail such that the gap is less than a predetermined value, for example, 4 mm. Advantageously, the flexible member is in close contact with the guard rail 6 so as to completely cover the gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning device and the guard rail. Advantageously, the flexible member is a flexible strip, for example made of rubber. .
By the cover assembly and the flexible member of the protection device, it is possible to fill or cover the gaps between the handrail cleaning apparatus and the escalator when it is mounted to the escalator, thereby preventing passengers from being injured by being caught by the gaps.

Claims (14)
1. A protection device for a handrail belt cleaning apparatus of an escalator for cleaning a handrail belt of the escalator, characterized in that the protection device comprises a cover assembly which is movable between a release position, in which the cover assembly exposes a gap between a housing of the handrail belt cleaning apparatus and a front plate of the escalator, and a cover position, in which the cover assembly covers the gap between the housing of the handrail belt cleaning apparatus and the front plate of the escalator.
2. The protective apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a securing member for securing the cover assembly in the covering position.
3. The protective apparatus of claim 2 wherein the fastener is a screw.
4. The protection device of claim 1, further comprising a flexible member mounted to a housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus, the flexible member being located at both sides of and adjacent to a guard rail of the escalator in a state where the handrail cleaning apparatus is mounted to the escalator, and covering a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the guard rail such that the gap is below a predetermined value.
5. A protection device according to claim 4, characterized in that said predetermined value is 4 mm.
6. The protective device of claim 4, wherein the flexible member contacts the guardrail completely covering a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the guardrail.

The protective device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the cover assembly is linearly movable between a release position and a cover position between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the front panel of the escalator to fill a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the front panel of the escalator.
8. The protective device of claim 7, wherein the protective device comprises a resilient member mounted to the handrail cleaning apparatus and connected to the cover assembly to resiliently move the cover assembly into abutment with the front plate.
9. The protective device of claim 7, wherein the cover assembly comprises a plurality of plate members, each plate member being independently linearly movable between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the front plate of the escalator to fit the shape of the gap to fill the gap.
10. The protective device of claim 9, wherein the protective device comprises a stop for each plate to prevent each plate from sliding out of the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus when the plate moves linearly.
11. The protective device of claim 10, wherein each plate member has an oblong hole, a plurality of the plate members are stacked together such that the oblong holes together form a slot, and the protective device comprises a frame surrounding the cover assembly, the frame having an insert inserted into the slot formed by the oblong holes to prevent each plate member from sliding out of the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus when moved.
12. The protector as claimed in claim 11, wherein the frame is provided with screw holes, and the plurality of plate members are fixed in the covering position by being screwed with the screw holes after the plurality of plate members are linearly moved to the covering position.
13. The protection device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the cover assembly is rotatably movable between a release position and a cover position between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the front plate of the escalator to cover a gap between the housing of the handrail cleaning apparatus and the front plate of the escalator.
14. A handrail cleaning device for an escalator, characterized in that it comprises a protection device according to any one of claims 1 to 13.
