Abstract

The invention discloses an electric connector assembly and an electric connector socket thereof, wherein the electric connector socket comprises an insulating seat, a plurality of first terminals, a plurality of second terminals, a grounding terminal and a metal shell. The insulating base comprises a body and a tongue plate extending from one side of the body, wherein the tongue plate is provided with a front surface and a back surface opposite to the front surface. The first terminal and the second terminal are arranged in the body, the grounding terminal penetrates through the tongue plate to be configured, and the metal shell is sleeved on the body and is arranged at an interval with the tongue plate; the electrical connector assembly includes the electrical connector receptacle, an electrical connector plug, and a housing. The electric connector assembly and the electric connector socket thereof of the invention are used for detecting butt joint by the grounding terminal and the metal shell without adding an additional detecting terminal, and simultaneously can reduce the number of welding points, reduce the cost and improve the process yield.

Electric connector assembly and electric connector socket thereof
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an electrical connector, and more particularly, to an electrical connector assembly and an electrical connector socket thereof capable of detecting mating with a ground terminal.
Background
The existing USB 3.1A electric connector has double layers of conducting points, one layer is in USB 2.0 specification, and the other layer is in USB 3.0 specification. In order to prevent the electrical connector from being damaged by the electrically conductive contacts that are not properly mated, a detection terminal is usually added to the female electrical connector to detect the insertion status of the male connector. However, the addition of the detecting terminals not only increases the manufacturing cost, but also requires the addition of corresponding solder joints on the circuit board, thereby increasing the space available on the circuit board.
In view of the above, the present inventors have made extensive studies and studies to solve the above problems in combination with the above prior art, and as a result, the present inventors have improved the present invention.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention provides an electric connector assembly capable of detecting butt joint by a grounding terminal and an electric connector socket thereof.
The invention provides an electric connector socket, which comprises an insulating seat, a plurality of first terminals, a plurality of second terminals, a grounding terminal and a metal shell. The insulating base comprises a body and a tongue plate extending from one side of the body, wherein the tongue plate is provided with a front surface and a back surface opposite to the front surface. The first terminals are arranged in the body, one end of each first terminal is a first lap joint end, each first lap joint end extends to be exposed out of the front face of the tongue plate, and the other end of each first terminal extends out of the body respectively. The second terminals are arranged in the body, one end of each second terminal is a second overlapping end, each second overlapping end extends to the front surface protruding out of the tongue plate, and the other end of each second terminal extends out of the body. The grounding terminal penetrates through the tongue plate, one end of the grounding terminal is a grounding overlapping end, the grounding overlapping end is exposed out of the front face of the tongue plate, the other end of the grounding terminal protrudes out of the back face of the tongue plate, the first overlapping ends and the grounding overlapping ends are arranged in a row on the front face of the tongue plate, the grounding overlapping ends are located in the center of the row, and the second overlapping ends are arranged in another parallel row on the front face of the tongue plate. The metal shell is sleeved on the body and is arranged at intervals with the tongue plate.
In the electric connector socket, each first terminal penetrates out of the body and then extends parallel to the tongue plate. Each second terminal penetrates out of the body and extends in parallel to the tongue plate. The metal shell protrudes outwards to form a plurality of welding feet extending vertically to the tongue plate. The solder leg is provided with a through hole, or the solder leg is provided with a plurality of concave points, or the solder leg is provided with a through hole and a plurality of concave points surrounding the through hole.
In the electrical connector socket of the invention, the grounding terminal forms a terminal elastic arm, and the terminal elastic arm is protruded on the back of the tongue plate. The metal shell is formed with a grounding elastic arm protruding inwards, and the grounding elastic arm and the terminal elastic arm are arranged oppositely and at a certain interval.
The invention further provides an electrical connector assembly, which comprises the electrical connector socket and an electrical connector plug. The electric connector plug comprises an insulating plate body and a housing, wherein the insulating plate body is arranged in the housing in a penetrating mode, one surface of the insulating plate body is attached to the inner wall of the housing, the other surface of the insulating plate body forms an exposed surface which is separated from the housing, and a plug elastic arm is embedded in the insulating plate body and protrudes out of the exposed surface. When the electric connector plug is butted with the electric connector socket, the exposed surface is attached to and contacted with the front surface of the tongue plate, the cover shell is sleeved with the tongue plate, the outer wall of the cover shell is attached to and contacted with the inner wall of the metal shell, and the grounding terminal is abutted to the inner wall of the cover shell.
In the electrical connector assembly of the present invention, the ground terminal forms a terminal elastic arm, and the terminal elastic arm protrudes out of the back surface of the tongue plate and presses against the inner wall of the housing. The metal shell is projected inwards to form a grounding elastic arm, and the grounding elastic arm and the terminal elastic arm are arranged oppositely at intervals and are pressed against the outer wall of the housing.
The electric connector assembly and the electric connector socket thereof of the invention use the grounding terminal penetrating through the tongue plate and the metal shell for detecting butt joint, so that additional detection terminals are not required to be added.

Detailed Description
Referring to fig. 1 and 6, the preferred embodiment of the present invention provides an electrical connector assembly comprising an electrical connector receptacle 10 and an electrical connector plug 20 mated with the electrical connector receptacle 10.
Referring to fig. 1 to 6, the electrical connector socket 10 includes an insulating base 100, a plurality of first terminals 210, a plurality of second terminals 220, a ground terminal 230, and a metal shell 300. In the present embodiment, the number of the first terminals 210 and the number of the second terminals 220 are four.
In the present embodiment, the insulating base 100 is preferably a base made of plastic. The insulating base 100 includes a body 110, the body 110 is preferably a rectangular block, a tongue plate 120 extends from one side of the body 110, and two sides of the tongue plate 120 are a front side 121 and a back side 122 opposite to the front side 121. The tongue plate 120 may preferably be formed with at least one actuation slot 101, and in the embodiment, four actuation slots 101 are preferably disposed corresponding to the second terminals 220.
Each of the first terminals 210 is a long metal sheet, and the first terminals 210 are disposed in the body 110. Two ends of each first terminal 210 are respectively a first overlapping end 211 and a first welding end 212, and the first overlapping end 211 of each first terminal 210 extends to be exposed on the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120. The first welding end 212 of each first terminal 210 extends out of the body 110, and the first welding end 212 of each first terminal 210 extends out of the body 110 and then parallel to the tongue plate 120.
The second terminals 220 are respectively long metal sheets, and the second terminals 220 are disposed in the body 110. Two ends of each second terminal 220 are respectively a second overlapping end 221 and a second welding end 222, the second overlapping end 221 of each second terminal 220 extends into each corresponding actuation slot 101, each overlapping end is in a spring arm shape and protrudes out of the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120, and each second overlapping end 221 can be actuated in each corresponding actuation slot 101 to retract into each actuation slot 101 to be below the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120. The second soldering terminal 222 of each second terminal 220 extends out of the body 110, and each second terminal 220 extends out of the body 110 and then extends parallel to the tongue plate 120.
The ground terminal 230 is an elongated metal sheet, the ground terminal 230 is disposed in the body 110, and the ground terminal 230 penetrates the tongue plate 120. Two ends of the grounding terminal 230 are respectively a grounding overlapping end 231 and a terminal elastic arm 232, the grounding overlapping end 231 of the grounding terminal 230 is exposed out of the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120, the terminal elastic arm 232 of the grounding terminal 230 extends through the tongue plate 120 and then protrudes out of the back surface 122 of the tongue plate 120, and the terminal elastic arm 232 can extend through one of the actuating slots 101, and the terminal elastic arm 232 can move in the actuating slot 101 where it is located and retract into the actuating slot 101 to be below the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120.
The metal shell 300 is cylindrical, one end of the metal shell 300 is sleeved on the body 110, and the other end of the metal shell 300 is spaced from the tongue plate 120 to form an opening 301 for inserting the connector plug 20. The metal shell 300 protrudes outward to form a plurality of solder tails 320 extending perpendicular to the tongue plate 120. A grounding spring arm 310 is formed on the metal shell 300 at a position corresponding to the terminal spring arm 232 and protrudes inwards, and the grounding spring arm 310 and the terminal spring arm 232 are disposed at an interval opposite to each other.
The first contacts 211 and the ground contacts 231 are arranged in a row on the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120 with the ground contact 231 located at the center of the row, and the second contacts 221 are arranged in another row parallel to the row on the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120.
Referring to fig. 5, the electrical connector socket 10 is soldered to a circuit board 400 and electrically connected to the circuit board 400. A plurality of solder joints 410 corresponding to the first solder joints 212 and the second solder joints 222 are printed on the surface of the circuit board 400, and a plurality of solder holes 420 corresponding to the solder tails 320 are formed through the circuit board 400. When the electrical connector socket 10 is disposed on the circuit board 400, each of the first soldering terminals 212 and each of the second soldering terminals 222 are respectively attached to and soldered to a corresponding one of the soldering points 410, and each of the solder tails 320 is inserted into a corresponding one of the soldering holes 420 for soldering. Therefore, the number of the second solder terminals 222 can be reduced, so that the utilization efficiency of the circuit board 400 is improved, and the process yield can be improved.
Referring to fig. 6, the electrical connector plug 20 includes an insulating plate 21 and a housing 22, the insulating plate 21 is inserted into the housing 22, one surface of the insulating plate 21 is attached to an inner wall of the housing 22, an exposed surface 21a separated from the housing 22 is formed on the other surface of the insulating plate 21, a plug elastic arm 23 is embedded in the insulating plate 21, and the plug elastic arm 23 protrudes from the exposed surface 21 a.
Referring to fig. 7, when the electrical connector plug 20 is mated with the electrical connector receptacle 10, the exposed surface 21a is attached to and contacted with the front surface 121 of the tongue plate 120, the cover 22 is sleeved on the tongue plate 120, the outer wall of the cover 22 is attached to and contacted with the inner wall of the metal shell 300, and the ground terminal 230 is abutted to the inner wall of the cover 22. Specifically, the terminal elastic arm 232 protrudes from the back surface 122 of the tongue plate 120 and presses against the inner wall of the housing 22, and the grounding elastic arm 310 and the terminal elastic arm 232 are disposed opposite to each other at a distance and press against the outer wall of the housing 22. Accordingly, the ground terminal 230 can be conducted to the circuit board 400 through the housing 22 of the electrical connector plug 20 and the metal shell 300 of the electrical connector receptacle 10. Moreover, when the housing 22 of the electrical connector plug 20 is not inserted between the terminal elastic arm 232 of the ground terminal 230 and the metal shell 300, the ground terminal 230 is not conducted, so that the corresponding second terminals 220 cannot be conducted. Once the ground terminals 230 are conductive, it is indicated that the electrical connector plug 20 has been inserted into the electrical connector receptacle 10 and the plug spring arms 23 have been mated into place. Therefore, the structure can achieve the insertion detection effect.
In summary, the electrical connector assembly and the electrical connector socket 10 of the present invention use the grounding terminal 230 penetrating the tongue plate 120 and the metal shell 300 for detecting the butt joint, so that it is not necessary to add an additional detecting terminal, and the number of the soldering points 410 can be reduced, which reduces the cost and improves the process yield.
Referring to fig. 8, the solder leg 320 may further include a through hole 321 or a concave point 322 to improve the solder gripping force. In the present embodiment, the solder leg 320 is provided with a through hole 321, and a plurality of concave points 322 are surrounded by the through hole 321.

Claims (12)

1. An electrical connector receptacle, comprising:
the insulating seat comprises a body and a tongue plate extending from one side of the body, wherein the tongue plate is provided with a front surface and a back surface opposite to the front surface;
a plurality of first terminals arranged in the body, wherein one end of each first terminal is a first lap joint end, each first lap joint end extends to the front surface exposed out of the tongue plate, and the other end of each first terminal extends out of the body;
a plurality of second terminals arranged in the body, wherein one end of each second terminal is a second lap joint end, each second lap joint end extends to the front surface protruding out of the tongue plate, and the other end of each second terminal extends out of the body;
a grounding terminal, which is configured through the tongue plate, wherein one end of the grounding terminal is a grounding overlapping end and the grounding overlapping end is exposed out of the front surface of the tongue plate, the other end of the grounding terminal is protruded out of the back surface of the tongue plate, the first overlapping ends and the grounding overlapping end are arranged in a row on the front surface of the tongue plate and the grounding overlapping end is positioned in the center of the row, and the second overlapping ends are arranged in another parallel row on the front surface of the tongue plate; and
a metal shell, which is sleeved on the body and is arranged at an interval with the tongue plate.
2. An electrical connector receptacle according to claim 1, wherein each of the first terminals extends out of the body parallel to the tongue.
3. An electrical connector receptacle according to claim 1, wherein each of the second terminals extends out of the body parallel to the tongue portion.
4. An electrical connector receptacle according to claim 1, wherein the metal shell is formed with a plurality of solder tails extending perpendicular to the tongue plate.
5. An electrical connector receptacle according to claim 4, wherein the solder tail has a through hole.
6. An electrical connector receptacle according to claim 4, wherein the solder tail has a plurality of dimples disposed thereon.
7. The electrical connector receptacle of claim 4, wherein the solder tail has a through hole and a plurality of concave points surrounding the through hole.
8. An electrical connector receptacle according to claim 1, wherein the ground terminal defines a terminal spring arm projecting from the rear surface of the tongue.
9. The electrical connector jack of claim 8 wherein the metal shell has a grounding spring arm projecting inwardly therefrom and spaced from the terminal spring arm.
10. An electrical connector assembly, comprising:
an electrical connector receptacle as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 7; and
an electric connector plug, the electric connector plug comprises an insulating plate body and a housing, the insulating plate body is arranged in the housing in a penetrating way, one surface of the insulating plate body is attached to the inner wall of the housing, the other surface of the insulating plate body forms an exposed surface which is arranged separately from the housing, a plug elastic arm is embedded in the insulating plate body and protrudes out of the exposed surface,
when the electric connector plug is butted with the electric connector socket, the exposed surface is attached and contacted with the front surface of the tongue plate, the housing is sleeved with the tongue plate, the outer wall of the housing is attached and contacted with the inner wall of the metal shell, and the grounding terminal is abutted against the inner wall of the housing.
11. The electrical connector assembly of claim 10, wherein the ground terminal defines a terminal spring arm that projects beyond the rear surface of the tongue and presses against an inner wall of the housing.
