Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to the field of drilling and machining, in particular to a preparation method of a cobalt powder coated diamond ball, a cobalt powder coated diamond and application thereof.
Background
Hard and ultra-hard materials are commonly used in abrasive environments, many of which have important industrial applications, particularly in the fields of rock drilling, mining, oil and gas exploration and mining, and metal working and cutting applications. However, such applications require not only high stiffness, but often also a range of other important properties, such as: acceptable fracture toughness, corrosion resistance and high thermal conductivity. Composite structures provide some of the best and most widely used material solutions for these requirements. Over the past 60 to 70 years, it has been common to combine ultra-hard, wear resistant materials with a tough matrix, the most successful of these being cemented carbides in which the harder, more brittle phase is tungsten carbide and the tough matrix is cobalt.
With the ever expanding range of applications for diamond containing composite materials and diamond coating materials, particularly in high wear environments, diamond-tungsten metal (DTM) based drill bits have also become a subject of research for such materials, which may be applied in rock drilling for oil, gas and mineral extraction, etc. These DTM materials are composed of silicon carbide, tungsten carbide, cobalt and other metallic or ceramic components.
With the increasing world demand for fossil fuels, one major trend in oil drilling is toward deeper wellbores, as more recent surface reservoirs have been depleted. However, we will face two main problems: high downhole temperature and high formation compressive strength. The deeper the wellbore, the higher the well pressure, the higher the temperature and the higher the load the drill bit is subjected to. To some extent, hard formations are more often encountered. PDC serrations are too brittle for drilling hard rock. Impregnated diamond bits (impregbits) thus enter the drilling industry.
The diamond impregnated cutting element is mainly formed by embedding diamond particles into the diamond impregnated cutting surface, is prepared by mixing tungsten carbide, cobalt powder and artificial diamond, and the diamond uniformly distributed in a metal matrix is beneficial to improving the retention and abrasion life of the diamond. If the diamond particles are unevenly distributed, diamond clusters and areas without diamond grit may appear in the matrix. The lack of base member can appear in the abundant region of diamond granule content, lead to the reduction of diamond granule retention rate, and the regional wearability performance that diamond granule content is few or does not contain diamond granule is relatively poor, lead to diamond impregnated bit performance distribution inequality, can lead to the PDC sawtooth finally in the use when compound piece in one side receives the harm, the opposite side is because the performance receives the influence, lead to the drill bit to become invalid, thereby influence drill bit life, also can promote cost of manufacture or use simultaneously.

Further, the acrylic resin: isopropyl alcohol: cobalt powder: the weight ratio of the diamond particles is 8: 25-30: 10: 10. the proportion of isopropanol in the acrylic resin (BR 118) is determined by the solubility at a particular temperature. In the proportion, the acrylic resin is used as the binder, and for the cobalt powder dispersing agent, poor flowability caused by too high viscosity of the cobalt powder dispersing liquid or poor affinity of the dispersing liquid for diamond when coating diamond particles caused by insufficient binder or poor coating quality caused by too much binder or too little binder, and the cobalt coating layer is easy to fall off after drying. The weight ratio used in the present invention was tested several times to confirm it as the optimum solution.
