Description

Printing device and consumable
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a printing apparatus to which a consumable can be detachably attached, and a consumable.
Background
In the printing apparatus, consumables such as an ink cartridge, a toner cartridge, a photosensitive drum, and stencil paper are mounted according to the printing method.
For example, an ink jet printing apparatus is provided with a plurality of ink cartridges that store ink for each color as a consumable product and are detachably mounted. In an inkjet printing apparatus, ink is supplied from an ink cartridge to an inkjet head, and the ink is ejected from a nozzle of the inkjet head toward printing paper, thereby printing images, characters, and the like.
Conventionally, in a printing apparatus to which consumables can be detachably attached, there has been proposed a method of: the settings of the printing apparatus are changed according to the consumable supplies (see, for example, patent document 1).

Disclosure of Invention
Problems to be solved by the invention
In addition, in a printing apparatus capable of setting a printing apparatus such as ink ejection control based on attribute information stored in a consumable part such as a setting value of the printing apparatus, it is possible to change the setting of the printing apparatus according to the consumable part without requiring a user to take time. On the other hand, the following is conceivable: when the attribute information is not stored in the consumable part, or when the consumable part is authenticated to be unsuitable for the printing apparatus based on the attribute information, the user manually changes the setting of the printing apparatus.
Further, there are the following cases: the stored information of the consumable is read and authenticated not only at the time of mounting the consumable in the printing apparatus but also, for example, when the power supply of the printing apparatus is turned ON (ON) or when the power saving mode is returned.
Therefore, there are the following cases: when the consumable is mounted on the printing apparatus, the consumable is authenticated as unsuitable for the printing apparatus based on the attribute information, and thereafter, the authentication of whether the consumable is suitable for the printing apparatus based on the attribute information stored in the consumable is repeated.
The invention aims to provide a printing device and a consumable product, which can simplify the authentication control of the consumable product.
Means for solving the problems
In one aspect, a printing apparatus to which a consumable can be detachably attached includes: a wireless communication unit that reads and writes information from and into a storage unit included in the consumable; an authentication unit that performs authentication of whether or not the consumable is suitable for the printing apparatus based on the attribute information of the consumable read out from the storage unit by the wireless communication unit; and an input unit that receives an input of a setting value of the printing apparatus by a user, wherein the wireless communication unit deletes at least a part of the attribute information stored in the storage unit when the authentication unit authenticates that the consumable part is not suitable for the printing apparatus, and the input unit receives an input of a setting value of the printing apparatus by a user when the authentication unit authenticates that the consumable part is not suitable for the printing apparatus.
ADVANTAGEOUS EFFECTS OF INVENTION
According to the above aspect, authentication control of the consumable can be simplified.

Detailed Description
A printing apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
In the present embodiment, the ink cartridges 100K, 100C, 100M, and 100Y corresponding to inks K (black), C (cyan), M (magenta), and Y (yellow) are examples of consumables that can be detachably attached to the printing apparatus 1. Further, each of the ink cartridges 100K, 100C, 100M, 100Y has the same configuration except for the color of the ink stored therein. Therefore, the ink cartridge 100K will be described as an example. The ink cartridges 100K, 100C, 100M, and 100Y are appropriately referred to as ink cartridges 100.
Fig. 1 is an explanatory view for explaining a printing apparatus 1 and an ink cartridge 100.
As shown in fig. 1, the printing apparatus 1 includes a control unit 10, a storage unit 20, a communication module 30, a display unit 40, an interface unit 50, an input unit 60, and a printing unit 70.
The control Unit 10 includes, for example, a processor (e.g., a Central Processing Unit (CPU)) that functions as an arithmetic Processing device that controls the operation of the entire printing apparatus 1. The processor functions as the authentication unit 11 and the display control unit 12 by reading a predetermined program from the storage unit 20 or a storage medium that is detachable from the printing apparatus 1, and executing the program. Here, the program executed by the processor includes a program that causes a computer (for example, the control section 10 of the printing apparatus 1) to execute the following functions: performing authentication as to whether or not the ink cartridge 100 is suitable for the printing apparatus 1 based on the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100 stored in the non-contact IC 120 (memory 121) as an example of the storage unit included in the ink cartridge 100; deleting at least a part of the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100 stored in the non-contact IC 120 in a case where the ink cartridge 100 is authenticated not to be suitable for the printing apparatus 1; and accepting an input of a setting value of the printing apparatus 1 by the user when the cartridge 100 is not suitable for the printing apparatus 1 by the authentication. In addition, the program may cause the computer to further execute the following functions: authentication of the kind of the non-contact IC 120 is performed.
The authentication unit 11 authenticates the ink cartridge 100. For example, the authentication unit 11 performs authentication as to whether or not the ink cartridge 100 is suitable for the printing apparatus 1 and authentication as to the type of the non-contact IC 120 (memory 121).
The authentication unit 11 may generate a first password (an example of first registration information) based on an ID (an example of consumable storage information) stored in the ink cartridge 100K (the memory 121 of the non-contact IC 120) by using a first algorithm stored in the storage unit 20, and may compare the first password with a second password (an example of second registration information) generated based on the ID stored in the memory 121 of the ink cartridge 100K.
The authentication unit 11 authenticates whether or not the ink cartridge 100 is suitable for the printing apparatus 1 based on attribute information (for example, ink solvent type information, concentration information, manufacturing date and year information, setting information of the printing apparatus 1, and the like) of the ink cartridge 100 (ink) read from a non-contact IC 120 (memory 121) as an example of storage means of the ink cartridge 100 by wireless communication units 31K, 31C, 31M, and 31Y described later. When the ink cartridge 100 is authenticated as being suitable for the printing apparatus 1, the authentication unit 11 may perform setting of the printing apparatus 1 (for example, ink ejection control) based on the setting information of the printing apparatus 1 stored in the memory 121 or the setting information corresponding to the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100K stored in the storage unit 20.
The authentication unit 11 authenticates the type (function) of the non-contact IC 120 such as the model number of the memory 121 (non-contact IC 120) based on, for example, the ID of the non-contact IC 120 (memory 121), the storage capacity of the memory 121, or the like, or the status of the response of the command transmitted to the non-contact IC 120 by the communication module 30 (for example, a command related to a function such as a password setting function that the non-contact IC 120 of the type corresponding to the printing apparatus 1 should have).
The display control unit 12 controls the display of the display unit 40. For example, the display control unit 12 may cause the display unit 40 to display an abnormality when the authentication unit 11 determines that the type of the memory 121 does not correspond to the printing apparatus 1.
The storage unit 20 is, for example, a memory, and stores destination information indicating a region where the printing apparatus 1 is used, a first algorithm as a program for generating a first password, and the like.
The communication module 30 includes 4 wireless communication units 31K, 31C, 31M, and 31Y. Each of the wireless communication units 31K, 31C, 31M, and 31Y is disposed so as to face the non-contact IC 120 of the ink cartridges 100K, 100C, 100M, and 100Y in a state of being mounted on the printing apparatus 1. The wireless communication units 31K, 31C, 31M, and 31Y have the same configuration. Therefore, the wireless communication unit 31K will be described as an example. The wireless communication units 31K, 31C, 31M, and 31Y are appropriately described as the wireless communication unit 31.
The wireless communication unit 31K is disposed opposite to the non-contact IC 120 attached to the ink cartridge 100K, establishes wireless communication with the non-contact IC 120, reads various information from the memory 121 of the non-contact IC 120, and writes information into the memory 121. The wireless communication unit 31K supplies the read information to the control unit 10 of the printing apparatus 1. In this way, the wireless communication unit 31K reads and writes information of the non-contact IC 120 (memory 121) included in the ink cartridge 100. When the wireless communication unit 31K performs wireless communication with the non-contact IC 120, the transmitting side adds a random number and transmits the random number, and the receiving side deletes the added random number to extract information. This prevents interception of information to be communicated. For example, the non-contact IC 120 functions as an RFID tag, and the communication module 30 functions as an RFID reader/writer.
The display unit 40 is a display whose display content is controlled by the display control unit 12 as described above. A touch panel that functions as the input unit 60 may be disposed on the display unit 40.
The interface unit 50 transmits and receives various information to and from other devices such as a user terminal.
The input unit 60 has input buttons such as the touch panel and the numeric keypad described above, and receives input of various operation information by the user. For example, the input unit 60 receives an input of a setting value of the printing apparatus 1 by a user.
The printing method of the printing portion 70 is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include an inkjet printing method, a stencil printing method, and an electrophotographic method.
The ink cartridge 100K has an ink bottle 110 and the above-described noncontact IC 120.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the ink cartridge 100K.
As shown in fig. 2, the ink cartridge 100K is, for example, a rectangular parallelepiped shape and is detachably attached to the printing apparatus 1 as an ink jet printing apparatus. The consumable may be, for example, an ink cartridge having a cylindrical shape and detachably mountable to the stencil printing apparatus. The consumable product may be removably attached to the printing apparatus 1, and may be, for example, a stencil sheet, a toner cartridge, a photosensitive drum, or the like.
As shown in fig. 1, the noncontact IC 120 has a memory 121 and a processing section 122.
The memory 121 stores an ID for uniquely determining the ink cartridge 100K, attribute information of the ink cartridge 100 (e.g., ink stored in the ink bottle 110), ink remaining amount information, ink color information, a second password generated based on the ID, and the like. The attribute information may include ink solvent type information, density information, manufacturing date and year information, setting information of the printing apparatus 1, and the like. Further, other information such as destination information indicating a region where the ink cartridge 100K is used may be stored in the memory 121.
The processing unit 122 has a processor (e.g., CPU) functioning as an arithmetic processing device. The processing unit 122 reads and writes information stored in the memory 121. For example, when at least a part of the attribute information stored in the non-contact IC 120 (memory 121) has been deleted by the printing apparatus 1 (wireless communication unit 31K), the processing unit 122 may write information related to deletion of at least a part of the attribute information, for example, information such as the content of deletion, the date and time of deletion, and the ID of the printing apparatus 1 that has been deleted, into the memory 121. The processing unit 122 acquires information on the amount of ink ejected from the printing apparatus 1, calculates the remaining amount of ink in the ink bottle 110 of the ink cartridge 100 based on the amount of ink ejected, and stores the calculated remaining amount of ink in the memory 121 as remaining ink amount information. Alternatively, the control section 10 of the printing apparatus 1 controls the communication module 30 as follows: the amount obtained by subtracting the ink ejection amount from the remaining amount information of the ink in the ink bottle 110 acquired from the memory 121 via the communication module 30 is written into the memory 121 at an arbitrary timing as an actual remaining amount. In addition to the remaining amount information, information indicating what type of printing apparatus 1 the ink cartridge 100K is used in (for example, an ID, a model name, and the like of the printing apparatus 1) may be written into the memory 121.
Fig. 3 is a flowchart for explaining the authentication process.
For example, the control unit 10 (the authentication unit 11 and the display control unit 12) reads a predetermined program from the storage unit 20 and executes the program, thereby performing the respective processes shown in fig. 3. As described above, the ink cartridge 100K is described as an example of the consumable part, but the control unit 10 performs the processes shown in fig. 3 for each of, for example, 4 ink cartridges 100 mounted in the printing apparatus 1.
First, the control unit 10 determines whether or not the ink cartridge 100K is mounted in the printing apparatus 1, for example, based on the detection result of the sensor, power-on, return from the power saving mode, and the like, until the ink cartridge 100K is mounted in the printing apparatus 1 (step S1).
When the control unit 10 determines that the ink cartridge 100K is mounted to the printing apparatus 1 (step S1: YES), the ID, attribute information, ink color information, etc. of the ink cartridge 100K are read from the memory 121 of the non-contact IC 120 of the ink cartridge 100K (step S2). Further, the control unit 10 may control the communication module 30 to transmit a command to the contactless IC 120 to authenticate the type of the contactless IC 120 as described above.
Here, when the authentication unit 11 determines that the ink cartridges 100C, 100M, and 100Y of the other colors are mounted in the printing apparatus 1, instead of the black ink cartridge 100K, based on the ink color information stored in the memory 121, the display control unit 12 may cause the display unit 40 to display: the user is notified that the ink cartridges 100C, 100M, and 100Y of the other colors are mounted in the printing apparatus 1.
The authentication unit 11 determines whether or not the ink cartridge 100K is suitable for the printing apparatus 1 based on the attribute information (for example, the ink solvent type information, the setting information of the printing apparatus 1, and the like) stored in the memory 121 (step S3).
When the authentication unit 11 determines that the ink cartridge 100K is suitable for the printing apparatus 1 (step S3: yes), it determines whether the type of the non-contact IC 120 as the RFID tag corresponds to the printing apparatus 1 (type OK) (step S4).
When the authentication unit 11 determines that the type of the non-contact IC 120 corresponds to the printing apparatus 1 (yes in step S4), the control unit 10 sets the printing apparatus 1 (for example, ink ejection control or the like) based on the setting information of the printing apparatus 1 stored in the memory 121 (step S5), and the processing shown in fig. 3 is ended. The control unit 10 may set the printing apparatus 1 in accordance with the setting information of the printing apparatus 1 corresponding to the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100K stored in the storage unit 20, based on the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100K stored in the memory 121.
When the authentication unit 11 determines in step S3 that the ink cartridge 100K is not suitable for the printing apparatus 1 based on the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100K (step S3: no), the control unit 10 causes the wireless communication unit 31K to delete at least a part of the attribute information stored in the memory 121 (step S6). Thereby, the memory 121 becomes to store the attribute information which is not deleted.
The control unit 10 controls the display unit 40 to display, via the display control unit 12, the setting information (setting value) of the printing apparatus 1 to be manually input by the user, receives the input of the user at the input unit 60 (step S7), and ends the processing shown in fig. 3. In addition, the setting information of the printing apparatus 1 input by the user may be attribute information of the ink cartridge 100K (for example, ink solvent type information, density information, manufacturing date information, and the like), and in this case, the control unit 10 may set the printing apparatus 1 based on the setting information of the printing apparatus 1 corresponding to the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100K stored in the storage unit 20, as described above.
When the authentication unit 11 determines in step S4 that the type of the non-contact IC 120 does not correspond to the printing apparatus 1 (no in step S4), the control unit 10 causes the display unit 40 to display an abnormality (abnormal display) (step S8), and the process shown in fig. 3 is terminated.
In the example shown in fig. 3, the authentication unit 11 performs authentication in the order of whether or not the ink cartridge 100K based on the attribute information is suitable for authentication of the printing apparatus 1 (step S3) and authentication of the type of the non-contact IC 120 (memory 121) (step S4), but the order of the authentication may be reversed.
In the present embodiment described above, the printing apparatus 1 is configured to detachably mount the ink cartridge 100, which is an example of a consumable, and the printing apparatus 1 includes: a wireless communication unit 31 that reads and writes information from and into a non-contact IC 120 (memory 121) as an example of a storage unit included in the ink cartridge 100; an authentication unit 11 that authenticates whether or not the ink cartridge 100 is suitable for the printing apparatus 1 based on the attribute information of the ink cartridge 100 read from the non-contact IC 120 by the wireless communication unit 31; and an input unit 60 that receives an input of a setting value of the printing apparatus 1 by a user. The wireless communication unit 31 deletes at least a part of the attribute information stored in the non-contact IC 120 when the authentication unit 11 authenticates that the ink cartridge 100 is not suitable for the printing apparatus 1, and the input unit 60 receives an input of a setting value of the printing apparatus 1 by a user when the authentication unit 11 authenticates that the ink cartridge 100 is not suitable for the printing apparatus 1. The ink cartridge 100 includes a non-contact IC 120 as an example of the storage means, and the non-contact IC 120 stores attribute information of the ink cartridge 100 for performing authentication as to whether the ink cartridge 100 is suitable for the printing apparatus 1. When the authentication is not appropriate for the printing apparatus 1, at least a part of the attribute information stored in the non-contact IC 120 is deleted by the printing apparatus 1, and the non-contact IC 120 stores the attribute information that is not deleted by the printing apparatus 1.
In this way, when the authentication unit 11 authenticates that the ink cartridge 100 is not suitable for the printing apparatus 1, the wireless communication unit 31 deletes at least a part of the attribute information stored in the non-contact IC 120, and the user manually changes the setting of the printing apparatus 1. Thus, even if the information of the non-contact IC 120 is read and authenticated later, for example, when the power supply of the printing apparatus is turned on or when the printing apparatus is returned from the power saving mode, it is possible to omit the authentication of the printing apparatus 1 as to whether or not the ink cartridge 100 is suitable based on the attribute information stored in the non-contact IC 120. Therefore, according to the present embodiment, the authentication control of the ink cartridge 100 (consumable) can be simplified.
In the present embodiment, the authentication unit 11 performs authentication of the type of the non-contact IC 120. Therefore, it can be determined that the non-contact IC 120 does not have the function to be provided by performing the authentication of the type of the non-contact IC 120. Thus, the authentication accuracy of the ink cartridge 100 can be improved. This enables, for example, communication of the remaining amount information and the like between the communication module 30 and the non-contact IC 120 to be stably performed, and the user can stably use the printing apparatus 1.
The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and the components can be modified and embodied in the implementation stage without departing from the spirit and scope thereof. In addition, various inventions can be formed by appropriate combinations of a plurality of constituent elements disclosed in the above embodiments. For example, all the components described in the embodiments may be combined as appropriate. It is needless to say that various modifications and applications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Hereinafter, the invention described in the claims at the time of filing of the present application will be described.
