First, referring to fig. 1, a schematic diagram of a simple structure of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the invention is shown. As shown in the drawings, the present embodiment provides an electronic device 1 capable of being used with an input pen 9, and the electronic device 1 may include a processing unit 101, a storage unit 102 and a writable display 110. The processing unit 101 and the storage unit 102 are disposed in the electronic device casing 20 of the electronic device 1, and the writable display 110 is disposed on the electronic device casing 20 of the electronic device 1. The processing unit 101 and the storage unit 102 are electrically connected to each other, and the writable display 110 includes a display layer 111 and a digitizing layer 112 stacked on each other, wherein the digitizing layer 112 is electrically connected to the processing unit 101. When the input pen 9 is close to the display layer 111 of the writable display 110 or is separated from the display layer 111 by a specific distance, the display layer 111 can generate a corresponding pattern according to the track of the input pen 9. Meanwhile, the digitizing layer 112 can generate digital information according to the track of the input pen 9, so that the processing unit 101 can process the digital information and transmit the processed digital information to the storage unit 102 for storage. The aforementioned "track" of the input pen 9 may include, but is not limited to, a state that the input pen 9 is relatively close to the display layer 111 and/or the digitizing layer 112 within a specific distance but has not yet slipped relative to the display layer 111 and/or the digitizing layer 112, or a state that the input pen 9 is relatively close to the display layer 111 and/or the digitizing layer 112 within a specific distance and has slipped relative to the display layer 111 and/or the digitizing layer 112. It is understood that the digital information generated by the digitizing layer 112 according to the activity of the input pen 9 substantially corresponds to the pattern generated by the display layer 111 according to the activity of the input pen 9. Accordingly, the user can write when approaching the electronic device 1 through the input pen 9, and in the process, the electronic device 1 can display corresponding patterns corresponding to the writing action of the user, so that the user can simultaneously view and confirm the written content, and meanwhile, the electronic device 1 can also digitally process and record or store the written content for later use, thereby realizing the operation of instant note taking and recording.
In the following, further details of the electronic device 1 will be described. Referring to fig. 2 to 4, fig. 2 is a schematic perspective view of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the invention, fig. 3 is a side view of the electronic device of fig. 2, and fig. 4 is a partially enlarged schematic view of a stacked structure in the electronic device of fig. 2. In the embodiment, the electronic device 1 is, for example, a notebook computer, but it is to be noted that the invention is not limited to the type of the electronic device 1, and the notebook computer shown herein is only used for the purpose of implementing the spirit of the instant note and record of the invention and illustrating possible application products. Specifically, in the present embodiment, the electronic device 1 may include a laminated structure 11, a display screen 21 and a keyboard 22. The stack 11 comprises the writable display 110 described above. The electronic device housing 20 may include a display screen housing 210 and a host housing 220 connected to each other, the display screen 21 and the stack-up structure 11 are disposed on the display screen housing 210, and the keyboard 22 is disposed on the host housing 220.
Further, in the present embodiment, the writable display 110 and the display screen 21 of the stacked structure 11 are respectively located at two opposite sides of the display screen housing 210, as seen from a perspective of fig. 3, the display screen 21 is disposed at a side of the display screen housing 210 facing the host housing 220, and the stacked structure 11 is disposed at a side of the display screen housing 210 facing away from the host housing 220. That is, the user can write on the side of the display screen housing 210 facing away from the display screen 21 by means of the stylus 9.
It is noted that, in this embodiment or other embodiments, a power supply unit (not shown) may be selectively disposed in the electronic device 1 to provide power to the digitizing layer 112, the processing unit 101 and the storage unit 102 when the electronic device 1 enters a sleep or power-off state. Therefore, when the display screen housing 210 of the electronic device 1 is closed to make the electronic device 1 enter a sleep or shutdown state, the user can wake up the digitizing layer 112 by directly using the stylus pen 9 to approach the digitizing layer 112 of the writable display 110 of the stack 11, specifically, when the stylus pen 9 and the digitizing layer 112 are separated by a specific distance, the digitizing layer 112 generates a sense and starts the digitizing layer 112, so that the digitizing layer 112 can perform the functions of generating digital information and the like without additionally opening or powering on the electronic device 1.
Next, the stacked structure 11 will be described in detail. In this embodiment, the stack structure 11 may further include a substrate layer 113, a protective layer 114, a first adhesive layer 115a, a second adhesive layer 115b, a third adhesive layer 115c, and an ink layer 116 in addition to the writable display 110. In terms of stacking order, the view angles shown in fig. 4 are, in order from bottom to top: substrate layer 113, first adhesive layer 115a, digitizing layer 112, second adhesive layer 115b, display layer 111, third adhesive layer 115c, ink layer 116, and protective layer 114.
In detail, the substrate layer 113 may be a part of the display screen housing 210, and may be, but is not limited to, made of aluminum or other metal, and may be a bottom layer structure of the stacked structure 11; the passivation layer 114 is an outermost layer of the stacked structure 11 and may be, but is not limited to, made of a light-permeable material, such as glass. Therefore, the writable display 110 is disposed between the protection layer 114 and the substrate layer 113, in other words, the writable display 110 is disposed between the protection layer 114 and the electronic device housing 20; the first adhesive layer 115a, the second adhesive layer 115b, and the third adhesive layer 115c may be, but not limited to, made of a material that is transparent and adhesive, such as an optical adhesive, and may be optional, but the invention is not limited thereto; the ink layer 116, which may have opaque or low light transmittance characteristics, can be used to shield the devices thereunder.
However, it should be noted that the invention is not limited to the substrate layer 113, the protective layer 114, the first adhesive layer 115a, the second adhesive layer 115b, the third adhesive layer 115c, the ink layer 116, and the composition or thickness thereof, and the layer structures may be selectively arranged or increased or decreased according to actual requirements. In addition, the overall thickness of the stacked structure 11 can be kept relatively thin, for example, the protection layer 114 can be about 0.55 mm, the display layer 111 can be about 0.2 mm, the digitizing layer 112 can be about 0.05 mm, the first to third adhesive layers 115a, 115b, and 115c can be about 0.1 mm, and the ink layer 116 can be about 0.1 mm, except that the thickness of the substrate layer 113 varies according to the design of the electronic device housing 20.
Next, description will be made with respect to the display layer 111. Please refer to fig. 5, which is a partially enlarged view of the display layer 111 of fig. 4, wherein, for convenience of illustration, fig. 4 and fig. 5 also illustrate a portion of the input pen 9. In the embodiment, the display layer 111 may include a first electrode layer 1111, a second electrode layer 1112, and a capsule layer 1113, and the capsule layer 1113 is disposed between the first electrode layer 1111 and the second electrode layer 1112. The capsule layer 1113 may include a plurality of capsules (capsules) 11131, and thus the capsules 11131 are also said to be interposed between the first electrode layer 1111 and the second electrode layer 1112. Further, the capsules 11131 may each include a plurality of first pigment particles (pigment particles)11131a, a plurality of second pigment particles 11131b, and a transparent liquid (transparent liquid) filling the inside of the capsule layer 1113
liquid)11131 c. The transparent liquid may be, but not limited to, a gel substance having no fluidity in a stable state, so that the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b are maintained at current positions and arrangements in the stable state.
In the embodiment, the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b have a small volume, such as a size of the order of micrometers (μm), but the invention is not limited thereto. In addition, the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b have different colors, the first pigment particles 11131a may be, but not limited to, black, and the second pigment particles 11131b may be, but not limited to, white; for example, in other embodiments, the first pigment particles 11131a may be other colors other than black or white, and the second pigment particles 11131b may be another color different from the first pigment particles 11131 a.
In the present embodiment, the first electrode layer 1111 and the second electrode layer 1112 may generate an electric field (electric field) to change the relative arrangement of the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b, for example, one of the capsules 11131 which is not pointed by the pen tip 91 of the input pen 9 on the left side in fig. 5 is taken as an example, one of the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b in the capsule 11131 may be charged with a first charge, and the other of the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b may be charged with a second charge, wherein the first charge is opposite to the second charge, the first charge may be one of positive and negative charges, and the second charge may be the other of positive and negative charges. When the first electrode layer 1111 and the second electrode layer 1112 generate an electric field through the capsule layer 1113, the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b are driven to approach to two opposite sides of the capsule layer 1113, respectively, so as to form two layers of particles with distinct colors.
On the other hand, in the embodiment, one of the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b has a magnetic property, and may be magnetic or non-magnetic, and the invention is not limited thereto, so that the sensing can be generated according to the approach and movement of the input pen 9. In this embodiment, the first pigment particles 11131a are magnetic conductive, and when the distance between the stylus 9 and the first pigment particles 11131a is within a specific range, the stylus 9 can change the arrangement state of the first pigment particles 11131a in the capsule 11131. Here, taking one of the capsules 11131 pointed by the pen point 91 of the input pen 9 in fig. 5 as an example, in this embodiment, a magnet may be disposed in the pen point 91 of the input pen 9, so that a magnetic field (magnetic field) may be generated at the pen point 91 of the input pen 9, and the magnetic field intensity generated by the input pen 9 at the pen point 91 is sufficient to change the arrangement state of the first pigment particles 11131a within the specific distance. It can be understood that when the pen point 91 of the input pen 9 slides continuously over a plurality of capsules 11131, the arrangement of the first pigment particles 11131a in the capsules 11131 can be changed accordingly, so as to form a pattern (such as the pattern on the display screen housing 210 shown in fig. 2) by changing the color distribution of the capsules 11131. It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the specific distance, and in one embodiment, the specific distance may be about 20 mm.
It can be seen that the writable display 110 of the present invention generates an image by changing the arrangement of pigment particles having magnetic permeability through a magnetic field, so that the image is generated very instantly without generating additional power consumption during the recording of data or images through the writable display 110. That is, even if the electronic device 1 is in a sleep state or a power-off state, the writable display 110 enables the user to start recording when picking up the input pen 9, and has the advantages of power saving, intuitive operability, high immediacy and convenience, and the like.
It should be noted that, the electronic device 1 may be correspondingly provided with a reset button (reset button) for a user to press and drive the first electrode layer 1111 and the second electrode layer 1112 to generate an electric field to make the first pigment particles 11131a and the second pigment particles 11131b in all the capsules 11131 lean against opposite sides of the capsule layer 1113, so as to achieve the effect of erasing the previously written data or images.
The digitizing layer 112 stacked on the display layer 111 is electrically connected to the processing unit 101 in the electronic device 1, and can generate a response to the movement of the input pen 9 within a specific distance, so as to transmit the information related to the movement of the input pen 9 to the processing unit 101, and then the information is processed by the processing unit 101 and stored in the storage unit 102, that is, the digitizing layer 112 can generate digital information corresponding to the pattern on the display layer 111, and the processing unit 101 can process the digital information and transmit the digital information to the storage unit 102 for storage, so as to be imported into an application program for recording, or printed or converted into an image at a later time and displayed on the display screen 21. In operation, the present invention is not limited to the processing unit 101 automatically executing the operation of storing information in the storage unit 102, or the processing unit 101 and the storage unit 102 execute the operation of storing information after the user manually presses the special key. In addition, the invention is not limited to the file format stored in the storage unit 102 and the application programs compatible with the file format. It should be noted that the present invention also does not limit the specific distance that the stylus 9 can induce the digitizer layer 112, and in one embodiment, the specific distance may be about 20 mm.
Moreover, as mentioned above, since the digitizing layer 112 can be woken up by the stylus 9, when the electronic apparatus 1 is in a sleep state or in a power-off state for performing the handwriting recording operation, the digitizing layer 112 can perform the function of recording the writing content without additionally powering on the electronic apparatus 1.
The user can also write directly on the display screen 21 by using the input pen 9. Specifically, please refer to fig. 6 in conjunction with the aforementioned fig. 4, and fig. 6 is a schematic diagram of another usage scenario of the electronic device 1 shown in fig. 2. As shown in the figure, at this time, the display screen casing 210 of the electronic device 1 is opened and is in a general use state, and since the digitizing layer 112 can sense the track of the input pen 9 within a specific distance, when the input pen 9 moves on the display screen 21, the input pen 9 can also sense the digitizing layer 112, at this time, the digitizing layer 112 can transmit the digital information generated by sensing of the input pen 9 to the processing unit 101, and the processing unit 101 can display the digital information on the display screen 21 according to the digital information, thereby implementing functions such as writing and recording on the display screen 21.
It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the overlapping order between the display layer 111 and the digitizing layer 112 in the writable display 110. For example, referring to fig. 7, which is a partially enlarged schematic view of a stacked structure 11 'according to another embodiment of the present invention, a main difference between the stacked structure 11' of the present embodiment and the stacked structure 11 of the previous embodiment is that the positions of the display layer 111 and the digitizing layer 112 of the writable display 110 'in the stacked structure 11' are reversed, and the second adhesive layer 115b between the display layer 111 and the digitizing layer 112 can be omitted. Such a configuration still does not affect the aforementioned functions of the display layer 111 to display images and the digitizing layer 112 to digitize images. Moreover, the writable display 110' of the present embodiment is also suitable for use in the scenario of FIG. 6.
In addition, the present invention is not limited to the position where the aforementioned stacked structure 11 is disposed on the electronic device 1. For example, please refer to fig. 8, which is a schematic perspective view of an electronic device 1' according to another embodiment of the invention. The main difference between the electronic device 1 'of the present embodiment and the electronic device 1 of the previous embodiment is that the stacked structure 11 is disposed on the main housing 220 of the electronic device 1', and in this embodiment, the stacked structure 11 and the keyboard 22 are located on the same side of the main housing 220. In addition, the main housing 220 may still be provided with a touch pad for controlling the mouse under the stacked structure 11, but the invention is not limited thereto. In this case, the user can select to turn off the function of the stacked structure 11 so that the finger can interact with the touch pad for controlling the mouse when touching the area, and can also select to turn on the stacked structure 11 to execute the aforementioned notepad function.
In the electronic device according to the foregoing embodiment of the present invention, since the input pen can directly change the arrangement state of the pigment particles on the writable display to generate the pattern, when the writable display is applied to the housing of the electronic device such as a notebook computer, the user can directly use the input pen to draw the pattern on the housing of the electronic device, that is, the user can record the information or the image by writing on the housing of the notebook computer without the cumbersome process of starting the computer system and the related application programs. Meanwhile, the electronic device can generate corresponding digital information according to the writing of a user through the digital layer, so that the processing unit and the storage unit can process and store the digital information for later use. Therefore, the electronic device of the invention can provide the user with a quick and real-time information recording experience.
Although the present invention has been described with reference to the above embodiments, it is not intended to limit the invention. Variations and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims. With regard to the scope of protection defined by the present invention, reference should be made to the appended claims.
