Abstract
A vacuum cleaner nozzle (N) for cleaning a surface. The nozzle (N) has a First Brush (FB) along a first side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle (N), the First Brush (FB) having a First Brush Holder (FBH), and a Second Brush (SB) along a second side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle (N), the Second Brush (SB) having a Second Brush Holder (SBH). The second side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle (N) is adjacent to the first side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle (N). According to one aspect of the invention, the distance between the Second Brush Holder (SBH) and the surface is greater than the distance between the First Brush Holder (FBH) and the surface. Preferably, the Second Brush (SB) is at an angle of less than 30 ° to the vertical. The invention also provides a vacuum cleaner having such a vacuum cleaner nozzle (N).
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a vacuum cleaner nozzle, and to a vacuum cleaner provided with a vacuum cleaner nozzle.
Background
The design of a vacuum cleaner is affected by two conflicting boundary conditions. Clearly, the vacuum cleaner should ensure that the floor is well cleaned so that no dirt remains on the floor. On the other hand, the energy consumed by the vacuum cleaner to clean the floor should be gradually reduced, so that the high-wattage vacuum cleaner of the prior art cannot be sold anymore.
One way to ensure that the vacuum cleaner optimally meets conflicting boundary requirements is to reconsider the design of the vacuum cleaner nozzle.
US3069186 discloses a nozzle which avoids the disadvantages of the prior art constructions and prevents air leakage at its swivel joint and ensures a more efficient air flow into its suction inlet. The inlet side of the nozzle is provided with a continuous base having side walls and a top wall at right angles to each other. The base mounts a pair of brushes or bristle bars, each having a U-shaped metal bar that holds bristles that are clamped around a rigid core member. One straight bristle strip extends the entire length of the front edge of the nozzle inlet, while the other is bent into a generally U-shaped configuration and dimensioned to nest closely against a similarly shaped portion of the base that extends along the rear edge and across the end of the nozzle inlet. The adjacent ends of the brush or bristle bar are spaced slightly to provide narrow openings at the opposite front corners of the nozzle, the size of these openings being slightly reduced by the tendency of the bristles to spread outwardly toward one another across the openings under operating conditions. However, this outward expansion is not sufficient to close the openings, and in the case of a nozzle connected to a suction source, a high velocity jet of air flows inwardly through each opening.
Disclosure of Invention
It is, inter alia, an object of the invention to provide an improved vacuum cleaner nozzle. The present disclosure is defined by the independent claims. Preferred embodiments are defined in the dependent claims.
One aspect of the present invention provides a vacuum cleaner nozzle for cleaning a surface. The nozzle has a first brush along a first side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle, the first brush having a first brush holder, and a second brush along a second side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle, the second brush having a second brush holder. The second side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle is adjacent to the first side of the vacuum cleaner nozzle. According to one aspect of the invention, the distance between the second brush holder and the surface is greater than the distance between the first brush holder and the surface. Preferably, the second brush is angled less than 30 ° relative to vertical. The invention also provides a vacuum cleaner having such a vacuum cleaner nozzle.
The invention is based on the recognition that: to cope with the need for reduced power, the leakage openings should be reduced as much as possible, so that the openings at the corners where two different bristles meet should be minimized. Since the bristle holders occupy some space, even if the bristle holders are brought as close to each other as possible, openings are left between the bristles. However, if one bristle holder is disposed higher than the other bristle holder, the bristles themselves can be made to closely abut each other without leaving gaps between the bristles.
These and other aspects of the invention are apparent from and will be elucidated with reference to the embodiments described hereinafter.

Detailed Description
Figures 1 and 2 show different views of a brush for use at a vacuum cleaner nozzle N according to an embodiment of the present invention. The vacuum cleaner nozzle N has a first brush FB and a second brush SB. In the embodiment shown in figure 1 the first brush FB is located in front of the vacuum cleaner nozzle N and the second brush SB is located to one side of the nozzle, but in another embodiment it could be arranged in the opposite way. The first brush FB has a first brush holder FBH, and the second brush SB has a second brush holder SBH. If the first and second brush holders FBH and SBH are positioned at the same height, a gap is generated between the first and second brushes FB and SB because the brush holders are larger than their respective corresponding brushes. In order to ensure that the first and second brushes FB, SB are placed tightly against each other without a gap in between, the present invention provides a solution in which the distance between one brush holder SBH and the surface to be cleaned is greater than the distance between the other brush holder FBH and the surface to be cleaned. In the embodiment shown in fig. 1 and 2, one brush holder SBH is located on top of the other brush holder FBH.
Preferably, the second brushes SB are at an angle of less than 30 ° to the vertical, as best shown in the embodiment of fig. 2. The reason for this is that without this measure the nozzle housing surrounding the brush holders FBH and SBH would lead to a gap at the surface level between the second brush SB and the wall bottom of the chamber. By mounting the second brush SB at a small angle with respect to the vertical direction, the second brush SB can contact the wall even if the second brush holder SBH creates a certain distance between the top of the second brush SB and the wall. Thereby improving the performance of a vacuum cleaner provided with such a vacuum cleaner nozzle.
It should be noted that the above-mentioned embodiments illustrate rather than limit the disclosure, and that those skilled in the art will be able to design many alternative embodiments without departing from the scope of the appended claims. For example, the feature that the distance between the second brush holder SBH and the surface is larger than the distance between the first brush holder FBH and the surface may be realized by molding the first brush holder and the second brush holder as separate members and then mounting them such that the distance between the second brush holder SBH and the surface is larger than the distance between the first brush holder FBH and the surface, or by molding the first brush holder and the second brush holder as one member in which the distance between the second brush holder SBH and the surface is larger than the distance between the first brush holder FBH and the surface. In the claims, any reference signs placed between parentheses shall not be construed as limiting the claim. The word "comprising" does not exclude the presence of other elements or steps than those listed in a claim. The word "a" or "an" preceding an element does not exclude the presence of a plurality of such elements. In the device claim enumerating several means, several of these means may be embodied by one and the same item of hardware. The mere fact that certain measures are recited in mutually different dependent claims does not indicate that a combination of these measures cannot be used to advantage.
