Description

Leveler for ceramic tiles
Technical Field
The invention relates to a leveler for ceramic tiles. In particular, the present invention relates to a wedge-shaped trimming member which allows to arrange the respective upper surfaces of two adjacent tiles in the same plane in a simple and convenient manner.
Background
Wedge-shaped finishers are known on the market, which comprise a disposable element and a wedge with a knurled ramp. The disposable element comprises a flat base from which two arms project vertically, are spaced apart laterally and are connected at the top with a lamina so as to create an opening.
The disposable element is arranged between two tiles so as to have its flat base locked under the tiles.
Subsequently, the wedge is inserted over the two tiles, between the two arms of the disposable element, under the sheet, inside the opening.
The same wedge is then pushed so that its lower base makes the respective faces of the two tiles coplanar.
Once such coplanarity is obtained, the wedge remains in the position reached and is blocked there by a tongue projecting from the sheet towards the bottom, which interferes with the knurling present on the inclined surface of the wedge.
While the cooperation between the knurls and the projecting tabs locks the wedge in the selected position, it also makes it difficult to push the wedge into the opening.
Thus, a problem with wedge-shaped finishers according to the known art is that the finishers cannot be used without the aid of additional tools.
In practice, a clamp is necessary to push the wedge into the opening of the disposable element. The clamp forms a lever on the tab of the disposable element to push the vertical face of the wedge.
This operation is therefore not so simple, with the risk of damaging the wedges and/or the disposable element when the clamp is not used correctly.
Disclosure of Invention
It is an object of the present invention to create a tile smoother that addresses these and other problems of known systems.
Another purpose of the present invention is to obtain a smoother for ceramic tiles that can be used in a simple and unhappy way.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a wedge trimming device that can be used without the aid of additional tools.
These and other objects are achieved according to the present invention by an ecreteur for ceramic tiles, suitable for use by a user to make the faces of two adjacent tiles coplanar, comprising a disposable element and a wedge.
The disposable element for being arranged between two tiles comprises a base from which a first arm and a second arm are vertically raised and are connected at the top with the lamina so as to form an opening between the base, the first arm, the second arm and the lamina.
The wedge comprises a ramp body having a flat lower surface and an inclined upper face and is intended to be inserted into the opening above the tile P, so as to abut the lower edge of the sheet by inclining the upper face and push the two tiles downwards by the flat lower surface.
In particular, the trimming device according to the invention is characterized in that the tongue projects downwards from the foil and has a free end with a lower face on one side and is fixed to the foil on the other side so as to be flexible and tiltable.
In addition, the trimming member is characterized in that a saw-tooth portion is formed on the inclined upper face and has a tooth with which a free end of the tongue piece can be brought into contact.
In this way, when the wedge is pushed inside the opening, the tongues slide on the saw-tooth portions, the teeth of which have an inclined face coinciding with the inclination reached by the tongues.
At the same time, when the wedge tries to come out, the free end of the tongue abuts against a tooth, in particular on its vertical face, and prevents the wedge from leaving the opening.
Thanks to this configuration, the user can push the wedge into the opening without using pliers or other means, since there is no knurling on the wedge which tends to prevent the movement of the same wedge with respect to the disposable element at the inlet and at the outlet.
Preferably, the teeth may include: a first face perpendicular to the inclined upper face; and a second face that is inclined like (or relative to) the inclined upper face. These inclinations ensure the function of the tongue to be locked by the teeth in the direction of the wedge coming out of the opening.
In addition, the tongue piece is fixed to the sheet by a thinned portion so as to be easily bent.
Preferably, the arcuate member may be connected to the end of the ramp body having the greatest height. The arcuate member enables an operator to comfortably push the wedge with one finger.
A first cylindrical body may project downwards from the sheet in the opening, the main axis of the cylindrical body being parallel to the surface of the tile P, and a first smooth lateral portion may be formed on the inclined upper face, on which the first cylindrical body can slide.
In this way, movement of the wedge into the opening of the disposable element will be facilitated.
Preferably, the first cylindrical body and the second cylindrical body can project downwards from the sheet in the opening, with the main axes of both cylindrical bodies parallel to the plane of the tiles P and the tongues arranged between said cylindrical bodies.
In addition, first and second smooth side portions are formed on the inclined upper face, the saw-tooth portions are arranged between the smooth side portions, and the first and second cylindrical bodies are respectively slidable on the smooth side portions.
In order to strengthen the disposable element, the first cylindrical body and the second cylindrical body may be interconnected by an arcuate body.
The lamina may comprise a frame extending around the lamina, the lamina having a thickness less than the thickness of the frame itself. In this way, in the pushing phase, the user can push more comfortably on the sheet, for example so that his fingers are housed inside or rest on the frame, in order to push the sheet.
Preferably, at least one recess may be formed in the base of the disposable element so that the same base is immersed in the adhesive under the tile.
In addition, the first and second arms may be connected to the base by a portion having a reduced thickness to facilitate disengagement from the base when the upper portion of the disposable element must be removed.

Detailed Description
Referring to the drawings and in particular to figures 1 and 9, 10 there is shown an ecreteur comprising a disposable element 12 and a wedge 14 which cooperate with one another.
In particular, the disposable element 12 is arranged between two tiles P, the wedge 14 being inserted into the disposable element 12 in order to push the faces of the two tiles P and make them coplanar.
As shown in fig. 2, 3, 4, the disposable element 12 includes a base 16 having an irregular octagonal perimeter, and two notches 18 are provided in the base 16 and positioned symmetrically with respect to each other.
A projection 20 with a triangular cross-section projects from the base 16 in correspondence with a line of symmetry with respect to which the two notches 18 are arranged.
A first arm 22 and a second arm 24 rise from opposite side ends of the projection 20 to which they are connected by a reduced thickness portion 26.
The first arm 22 and the second arm 24 are connected at the top with a sheet 28, which sheet 28 comprises a peripheral frame 30, which peripheral frame 30 is closed at the bottom by a cross beam 32.
Thus, the first arm 22, the second arm 24, the tab 28 and the base 16 define an opening 33.
The frame 30 and the cross-beam 32 enclose a sheet 34 of reduced thickness.
The cross-beam 32 comprises a first cylindrical body 36 adjacent the first arm 22 and a second cylindrical body 38 adjacent the second arm 24.
The tongue 40 is arranged between the first cylindrical body 36 and the second cylindrical body 38; the tongue projects downwards into the opening 33.
The first and second cylindrical bodies 36, 38 are connected together by an arcuate body 42, and the tongue 40 is fixed to the arcuate body 42 by a thinner portion 44.
As shown in fig. 5-8, the wedge 14 includes a ramp body 46, the ramp body 46 terminating in an arcuate member 48, the arcuate member 48 having an arcuate profile about a vertical axis relative to the support surface of the wedge 14.
The ramp body 46 has a planar lower face 47 and an inclined upper face 50, the inclined upper face 50 being divided into a first side portion 52, a second side portion 54, and a serrated portion 56 disposed between the first side portion 52 and the second side portion 54.
The first side portion 52 and the second side portion 54 are smooth.
The serrated portion 56 comprises a plurality of teeth 58 (only one shown in figure 8), each having a first face 60 perpendicular to the inclined upper face 50 and a second face 62 having an inclination which is coordinated with (in particular greater than) the inclination of the inclined upper face 50 itself.
As shown in fig. 1 and 9 to 12, when the operator has to lay the tiles, use glue to fix them on the mortar bed and arrange them coplanar, he/she arranges the disposable elements 12 between each pair of adjacent tiles P.
The base 16 is arranged under two tiles P (between which the disposable element 12 is arranged) and is immersed in the adhesive thanks to the presence of the recess 18.
The upper portions of the tab 28, the first arm 22 and the second arm 24 project from the gap between the two tiles.
The wedge 14 is inserted into the opening 33, the opening 33 being raised above the tile P and the wedge being pushed into the same opening 33 as far as possible.
Insertion of the wedge 14 into the opening 33 of the disposable element 12 is considerably facilitated, since the operator can act simply by bringing his thumb and forefinger closer together, pushing the sheet 28 of the disposable element 12 on one side and the arcuate elements 48 of the wedge 14 on the other side.
During insertion and pushing, the movement of the wedge 14 is not in any way impeded by the configuration of the disposable element 12; in fact, the first and second cylindrical bodies 36, 38 slide on the first and second side portions 52, 54, respectively, without obstructing such movement of the wedge 14.
Similarly, as can be seen in fig. 11 and 12, the tongue 40 does not prevent the insertion of the wedge 14 into the opening 33 of the disposable element 12, since it is bent by the presence of the thinner portion 44, so as to be inclined in correspondence with the inclination of the inclined upper face 50 of the wedge 14.
In addition, due to the shape of the teeth 58, and in particular to the inclination of the second face 62, the tongue 40 also slides on the serrated portion 56, the inclination of the second face 62 coinciding with the inclination of the tongue 40 when the tongue 40 is in contact with the same inclined upper face 50.
In addition, the tongue 40 can be tilted at a variable angle depending on the distance of the upper inclined surface 50 from the sheet 28.
In contrast, when the wedge 14 has pushed the tiles P sufficiently downwards to make them coplanar, it can and must remain fixed in position with respect to the disposable element 12 as long as the adhesive is dry and the tiles P are fixed in their final position.
Such a position is always obtained due to the configuration of the teeth 58, and in particular the configuration of the first face 60 of each tooth, which first face 60 is perpendicular to the inclined upper face 50 of the wedge 14.
In fact, in the event that the wedge 14 is intended to move in a direction opposite to the insertion direction, the lower face 64 of the tongue 40 strikes the first face of one tooth 58, blocking the same wedge 14 in this position.
When the adhesive dries and the tiles P fixed to the mortar bed are coplanar with each other, the operator can disengage the upper part of the disposable element 12 (i.e. the sheet 28, the first arm 22 and the second arm 24) from the base 16, so that the reduced thickness portion 26 of the arms 22, 24 connected to the same base 16 allows said breakage.
Finally, the operator can retrieve all the used wedges so that they can be used again.
Thus, unlike the trimming member according to the known art, the insertion of the wedge into the disposable element is easy and does not require the use of additional tools such as pliers or the like.
Those skilled in the art may provide modifications or variations that are considered to be within the scope of the invention.
For example, an ecreteur according to the invention may comprise a disposable element having a plurality of tabs, and an ecreteur according to the invention comprises a wedge having a plurality of serrated or enlarged serrated portions.
