Background
With the continuous development of electronic products, consumer electronic products such as mobile phones, notebook computers, digital cameras and the like are increasingly widely used in daily life of people, and the most common connection mode among the electronic products is a USB connection mode.
At present, a female connector 10 of a USB is accommodated in a fixed-position docking tongue plate of a housing, and a terminal is fixedly arranged on a single plate surface of the docking tongue plate, so that a male connector 20 can only be inserted in a single direction when being inserted, as shown in fig. 1 and 2; when a user is not inserting the female connector 10 in the correct direction, the mating terminal of the male connector 20 interferes with the mating terminal of the female connector 10, resulting in a non-insertion, as shown in fig. 3, where a hard insertion not only fails to transmit data, but also causes connector damage.

Referring to fig. 4 to 6, an embodiment of the invention provides a female connector 10, including: a housing 11, terminals 12 and a mating tongue 13.
The housing 11 has a receiving cavity formed therein, and a socket is opened at one end of the receiving cavity for the male connector 20 to be inserted into.
And the terminal 12 is fixedly arranged in the accommodating cavity, and the accommodating cavity is divided into a first inserting space and a second inserting space which are communicated with the socket. The first inserting space and the second inserting space are the same in height and are basically consistent in thickness with the butt joint end of the matched male connector 20, so that the male connector 20 can ensure that the size of the inserting space meets the actual requirement regardless of being inserted in the forward direction or the reverse direction.
The butt tongue plate 13 is movably mounted in the accommodating cavity along a direction perpendicular to the plate surface, is provided with a first plate surface and a second plate surface which are opposite, and is provided with a hollow area which penetrates through the first plate surface and the second plate surface, and the shape and the size of the hollow area are consistent with those of the terminal 12, so that the terminal 12 can penetrate through the butt tongue plate 13 in the moving process of the butt tongue plate 13 along the direction perpendicular to the plate surface, and interference on the movement of the butt tongue plate 13 can be avoided.

Because the height position of the terminal 12 is fixed, the height position of the tongue plate 13 is adjustable, and a hollowed area corresponding to the terminal 12 is formed on the tongue plate 13, when the tongue plate 13 moves up and down, the terminal 12 can pass through the hollowed area of the tongue plate 13 and move up and down relative to the tongue plate 13. When the terminal of the male connector 20 is inserted into the first insertion space, the mating tongue 13 moves to the first position, and at this time, the terminal 12 of the female connector 10 is located on the first plate surface of the mating tongue 13 and is in contact connection with the terminal of the male connector 20; when the terminals of the male connector 20 are inserted into the second insertion space, the mating tongue 13 moves to the second position, and the terminals of the female connector 10 are located on the second plate surface of the mating tongue 13 and are in contact connection with the terminals of the male connector 20.
Since the terminals of the male connector 20 can be successfully inserted into the first and second inserting spaces, respectively, the female connector 10 of the present embodiment is suitable for both forward and reverse insertion of the male connector 20 in the longitudinal direction.
The movable mounting of the tongue plate 13 can be realized by using an elastic element 14 as shown in fig. 4, for example: at the end of the tongue 13 remote from the socket, at least one elastic element 14 is movably mounted in the housing. The elastic element 14 may be a spring or any other elastic substance having a natural state and a compressed state.
For convenience of application, the state of the elastic element 14 in the forward insertion state can be designed to be a natural state, and the butt tongue plate 13 is at an initial position (such as a first position) and can perform its basic function without moving; at the same time, the state of the elastic element 14 in the reverse insertion state is designed to be a compressed state, in which case upon reverse insertion of the male connector 20, the user needs to overcome the small elastic force to move the docking tongue 13 to a new position (e.g., the second position) in order to enable successful insertion of the male connector 20, as shown in fig. 5 and 6.
Of course, the articulation can be achieved in any conventional manner other than by the use of the elastic element 14, and the invention is not limited thereto.
As shown in fig. 5, the end of the mating tongue 13 of the female connector 10 near the socket and the head of the insertion section of the male connector 20 are formed with guiding chamfers, which effectively guide the mating tongue 13 downward during the reverse insertion.

As shown in fig. 7 to 9, the present embodiment provides another female connector 10 including: a housing 11, terminals 12 'and a mating tongue 13'.
The housing 11 is formed with a receiving cavity therein, and a socket is formed at one end of the receiving cavity for the male connector 20 to be inserted into.
The butt tongue plate 13' is movably arranged in the accommodating cavity along the direction vertical to the plate surface of the butt tongue plate, so that the accommodating cavity is divided into a first inserting space and a second inserting space which are respectively communicated with the inserting ports; the tongue butt plate 13' has a first plate surface and a second plate surface opposite to each other. The relative height of the first inserting space and the second inserting space is adjustable, so that the size of the inserting space into which the male connector 20 is inserted can be ensured to meet the actual requirement regardless of the forward insertion or the reverse insertion of the male connector 20.
The terminals 12' include a first row of terminals and a second row of terminals, the first row of terminals is fixed on the first board, and the second row of terminals is fixed on the second board.
The difference from the first embodiment is that in the second embodiment, a row of terminals is respectively disposed on the upper and lower plate surfaces of the tongue plate 13' to connect with the terminals of the male connector 20 inserted into the insertion space.
The movable mounting of the tongue abutment plate 13' can be realized by using an elastic element 14 as shown in fig. 7, for example: at the end of the tongue 13' remote from the socket, at least one elastic element 14 is movably mounted in the receiving chamber. The resilient member 14 may be a spring having a natural state and a compressed state.
