Description

Method for executing payment transaction
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of electronic commerce, and more particularly, to a method of performing payment transactions.
Background
The prior art discloses a method of conducting payment transactions using a payment system (e-wallet) owned by a seller, according to which an account of a buyer is used both to pay for purchased products and to participate in a loyalty programme of the seller. These solutions have been used by many companies (e.g., starbucks) and operate according to the following: the customer deposits money into his account with the company, which he can then use to purchase the company's goods and services, and the sales company can use this account for loyalty programs. However, if the buyer's funds are transferred to the seller by another payment system (a different payment system than the seller), the buyer will be identified as another operation in the loyalty program.
Closest to the patented invention is a method of performing payment transactions, comprising forming a QR code containing information that enables a buyer to transfer money via a payment system (a payment system different from the seller), enabling the buyer to pay the seller, and outputting the specified QR code onto the screen of the buyer's mobile electronic device for recognition and payment completion by the seller's payment terminal (see patent GB2512944, G06Q20/32 class, published 2014, 10 months and 15 days). However, the well-known solutions do not allow buyers to combine payments simultaneously with offers in other (independent) payment systems and seller loyalty programs. At this time, the buyer identifier is different in loyalty programs of different sellers. Currently, this problem is solved in such a way: the buyer sends the identifier in his loyalty program to the seller when the cash register (POS terminal) checks out, presents the discount card of the seller and then identifies himself as a customer of the payment system using the QR code described above, or presents a bank card (e.g., VISA card, mastercard, world card, etc.).
Under the prior art, the device can also be used to create a graphical code that can generate a QR code containing information that makes it possible to identify a buyer in a seller's loyalty programme (see patent RU139520, class G06F 17/40, published 4/20 2014). A major drawback of the known device is that it is not possible to use it for payment transactions.
The technical challenge is to eliminate these drawbacks and create a payment scheme that allows you to combine benefits in payment and loyalty programs in one action (step) to deliver information to the seller instead of splitting into two steps, as described above. Technical results include expediting and simplifying the buyer's payment process in view of loyalty programs.
Disclosure of Invention
To solve the above technical problem, the object of the present invention is to propose a method for performing a payment transaction that eliminates the disadvantages of devices that cannot be used for payment transactions and allows to combine the benefits of payment and loyalty programs in one action to transfer information to the seller instead of dividing it into two steps, speeding up and simplifying the payment procedure of the buyer.

Specifically, the buyer finds and authenticates the seller through the actual location provided by his mobile electronic device.
Fig. 1 clearly demonstrates the algorithm that implements the proposed method, which is common to most of the proposed methods.
The proposed method can be implemented by near field communication, i.e. using NFC (near field communication) technology, while using a smartphone equipped with an NFC chip as the buyer's mobile electronic device. Currently, this technology has been used for contactless payments by VISA and mastercard payment systems when the bank card is equipped with an NFC chip. Apple Pay and Samsung Pay also use this contactless technology to equip their own brands of smart phones with NFC chips.
Using NFC technology, the customer downloads a mobile application to which a payment card can be bound, as well as any electronic wallets. Also in the same application, the buyer enters data for each merchant's discount cards, points and other loyalty program cards.
When a buyer makes a purchase at a seller's store, an application is launched that generates a data package that also contains information that enables the payment system to debit the buyer's funds and provides the possibility of identifying the buyer in the seller's loyalty program.
Next, the buyer brings the NFC chip equipped smartphone to the seller's NFC receiver equipped payment terminal, close to the distance to let the technology work (less than 10 cm), and the application generated data packet is transmitted to the seller's payment terminal device by Near Field Communication (NFC).
The seller's information system will then use all of the discounts due to the house and use the points in all of the corresponding loyalty programs and communicate with the payment system to obtain payment authorization in accordance with the purchase amount, adjusted after the loyalty program is applied. The payment amount is then deducted from the buyer's account and credited to the seller's account.
Fig. 2, 3, 4, 5 clearly demonstrate the implementation method using graphical codes and an integration system.
Fig. 3 demonstrates an implementation with minimal data transfer steps in transferring the buyer's identifier to the seller in all loyalty programs during the payment process. Furthermore, the implementation is described without limiting the consistency of the invention.
On the buyer's smartphone, they download a mobile application bound to a payment card (VISA, MasterCard), and any electronic wallet (WebMoney, PayPal). Also in the same application, the buyer enters data for each merchant's discount cards, points and other loyalty program cards. For merchants with loyalty programs, the integration system retains its unique identifier (serial number). Thus, a list of loyalty programs is included in each client application and a correspondence between the loyalty program's identifier (serial number) and the client identifier is established in the loyalty program.
The buyer makes a purchase at a seller's shop (physically located in the shop), starts an application which generates a data package in the form of a unique QR code for this transaction, together with an identifier of the transaction data, from a digital token containing encrypted data of a bank card or the buyer's electronic wallet. In addition, the QR code contains a complete list of all customer identifiers in the various loyalty programs that the customer registers. The QR code is displayed on the screen of the smart phone.
The seller reads this QR code using a payment terminal in the form of a smartphone, QR code scanner, or the like, which is part of the standard transaction equipment of a checkout counter (POS terminal). The seller's own information system may confirm the buyer's identifier in the seller's loyalty program because his own identifier (serial number) is recorded in the integrated system. The seller's information system will then use the discount due to all of the buyers and use the points in all of the corresponding loyalty programs. Thereafter, the payment terminal communicates with a payment system (bank card processing center or electronic wallet) through the internet, obtains payment authorization in accordance with the purchase amount, and makes adjustments after applying the loyalty program. The payment is then deducted from the buyer's account and credited to the seller's account. Additional steps may be required (but are not required) to obtain buyer-authorized payment. For example, the customer may enter a PIN code on a payment terminal or in an application on his smartphone.
According to one embodiment of the present invention shown in fig. 2, the generated QR code does not include the buyer identifier in the seller loyalty program, but only the customer identifier (fixed or variable) and the payment data in the payment integration network and loyalty program. Upon receiving the QR code, the seller's payment terminal communicates with the integrated system's server from which the customer identifier in the seller's loyalty program is obtained.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the generated QR code does not contain buyer's payment information, but only contains a customer identifier (permanent or variable) in the integrated payment and loyalty program system. After receiving the QR code, the seller's payment terminal communicates with the server of the integrated system and receives from the server not only the customer's identifier in the seller's loyalty program, but also the payment data of the customer required to complete the payment.
According to one embodiment of the invention (see fig. 4), the customer selects the loyalty program he wants to apply for the purchase in the application before making the payment. Before making the payment, the customer autonomously selects in the application the loyalty program that is intended to be used in the purchase. Thus, the QR code does not provide the seller with a list of customer identifiers for the buyer in various loyalty programs, but only identifiers in loyalty programs selected by the buyer in the application. If the customer is not registered in the loyalty program of the seller, the mobile application may provide the customer with a suggestion to register in the corresponding loyalty program. Thus, after registration, the buyer will be able to make payment using the discounts and points in the loyalty program at the same time.
Alternatively, the buyer may register with his own mobile application and enter the seller's store (service provider). The seller's information system then recommends personalized offers and discounts to the buyer through the buyer-installed application.
In another implementation, after a buyer enters a seller's store (service provider) by registering with his/her mobile application, the buyer can communicate with other clients registered in the store through the application. Customer registration may be done by any known method-NFC, bluetooth, QR code, etc. The seller's information system then recommends personalized offers and discounts to the buyer through the buyer-installed application.
In another implementation, after the application is opened to open a certain store, the GPS system of the buyer's smartphone will perform positioning. The seller's information system then recommends personalized offers and discounts to the buyer through the buyer-installed application. The application then provides the customer with the nearby merchant and their loyalty program.
While the foregoing is directed to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the scope of the present invention is not limited thereto, and it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the principles and spirit of the invention, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents, and that such changes and modifications are to be considered as within the scope of the invention.
