9. An article of furniture, comprising:
a body (2);
a cover (4) that opens upward or downward; and
the holding element (5) according to claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the first fitting (6) of the holding element (5) is fixed to the body (2) and the second fitting (7) of the holding element (5) is fixed to the cover (4).
10. Furniture as claimed in claim 9,
the adjustment contour (12) is designed to exert a torque on the second fitting (7) in a range between an intermediate position of the first fitting (6) and the second fitting (7) relative to each other and the open position and to hold the cover (4) in each position or to move automatically in the direction of the open position.
