The invention can adaptively and correctly display the multi-device topology according to the actual situation, and improves the convenience and the universality of the BMC work.

Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of servers, and in particular, to a method and an apparatus for displaying device topology.
Background
The PCIE (high speed serial computer extended bus standard extension) asset information function is a function of collecting relevant information of the PCIE device through a BIOS (basic input output system), sending the relevant information to a BMC (baseboard management controller), and then displaying the relevant information to a web UI (user graphical interface). One important item of information in the function is the position information of the equipment, and a user can correspond the specific equipment to the silk screen on the machine through the position information so as to correspond to the specific position on the machine, thereby facilitating the machine maintenance, the fault part positioning, the accessory replacement and the like. In the server products used in the prior art, one project often includes a plurality of machine types, and one machine type has more than one topology, but a set of firmware codes only includes information related to one topology or machine type, that is, only the location information of the topology or machine type can be correctly displayed. Once the machine topology or the machine type is replaced, the related information changes, the display is inaccurate, and the correct display function of the position information of the machine which processes multiple topologies and multiple configurations cannot be met.
Aiming at the problem that the topology of multiple devices is difficult to display in the prior art, no effective solution is available at present.
Disclosure of Invention
In view of this, an object of the embodiments of the present invention is to provide a device topology display method and apparatus, which can adaptively and correctly display a multi-device topology according to an actual situation, and improve convenience and universality of BMC operation.

And for each topology or model, the BIOS collects a group of data related to the asset information position information and backfills the data into the BIOS, and each type or topology is processed to the group of data related to the topology or the model according to the definition or the processing of different topologies or models respectively.
Then compiling the BIOS and refreshing the BIOS on a server, wherein the BIOS can be executed to adaptively distinguish each topology or model, and data accurately used for the topology or model is transmitted to the BMC, so that the webpage end UI of the BMC can accurately display the device position information of each topology or model. The device position information can inform the slot where the PCIE device is located (namely, the position where the PCIE device is connected to the mainboard) and the silk screen on the mainboard, so that the PCIE device can be corresponded to the specific position on the server, and the manual operations of machine maintenance, fault part positioning, accessory replacement and the like are facilitated.
It can be seen from the foregoing embodiments that, in the device topology display method provided in the embodiments of the present invention, identification identifiers of multiple device topologies and corresponding asset location information are obtained, and the identification identifiers and the asset location information are written into the BIOS; compiling a BIOS and refreshing the BIOS on a server, acquiring a current identification of the server, and determining current asset position information according to the current identification by using the BIOS; the technical scheme that the server transmits the current asset position information to the baseboard management controller of the server and displays the current asset position information on the baseboard management controller can display the multi-device topology correctly according to the actual situation in a self-adaptive mode, and the convenience and the universality of the BMC work are improved.
It should be particularly noted that, the steps in the embodiments of the device topology displaying method described above can be mutually intersected, replaced, added, or deleted, and therefore, the device topology displaying method based on these reasonable permutation and combination transformations shall also belong to the scope of the present invention, and shall not limit the scope of the present invention to the described embodiments.

the current asset location information is transmitted by the server to a baseboard management controller of the server and displayed on the baseboard management controller.

The method of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a PCIE device directly connected to the server motherboard through a PCIE slot or indirectly connected to the server motherboard through an intermediate device; the device topology includes hardware configuration features and connection modes of the device.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the server has a plurality of models; each model has only one topology; the identification of the device topology comprises an identification of a model of the device.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein the server has a plurality of models; each model has multiple topologies; the identification mark of the device topology comprises a mark of a model of the device and a mark of the topology of the device.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the device comprises a PCIE device directly connected to a server motherboard via a PCIE slot or indirectly connected to an intermediate device; the device topology includes hardware configuration features and connection modes of the device.
8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the server has a plurality of models; each model has only one topology; the identification of the device topology comprises an identification of a model of the device.
