Abstract
The invention discloses an electric connector which comprises an insulating body and terminals arranged on the insulating body, wherein the insulating body is provided with a butt joint cavity and two longitudinal butt joint parts protruding into the butt joint cavity, the two butt joint parts are parallel to each other and transversely arranged at intervals, the terminals are transversely arranged into four rows, and each butt joint part is provided with two rows of terminals. According to the arrangement, the electric connector is expanded into the electric connector with four rows of terminals, and the signal transmission channels are added to the four channels, so that the signal transmission speed of the electric connector is obviously improved.

As shown in fig. 1 to 8, the electrical connector of the present invention is a board-to-board (board) electrical connector, which may be a socket electrical connector 100 or a plug electrical connector 200 mated with the socket electrical connector 100.

Referring to fig. 3 to 8, the four sidewalls 2 of the receptacle electrical connector 100 are a first sidewall 21, a second sidewall 22, a third sidewall 23 and a fourth sidewall 24 in sequence. The first sidewall 21 and the third sidewall 23 are respectively provided with a notch, i.e., a first notch 211 and a second notch 231, the first notch 211 and the second notch 231 respectively transversely penetrate through the inner and outer sides of the corresponding first sidewall 21 and third sidewall 23, the length of the first notch 211 in the longitudinal direction is less than that of the second notch 231, in other embodiments, the length of the first notch 211 in the longitudinal direction may be greater than that of the second notch 231, as long as the sizes of the first notch 211 and the second notch 231 in the longitudinal direction are different. Meanwhile, it is not limited that the first and third sidewalls 21 and 23 are provided with notches, and the second and fourth sidewalls 22 and 24 may be provided with notches. A boss 25 is disposed at the adjacent position of two adjacent side walls 2, the boss 25 extends to protrude into the mating cavity 3 along the inner side surface of the side wall 2, and the receptacle electrical connector 100 may also have a plurality of bosses, not limited to one boss.
Referring to fig. 5 and 6, the bottom wall 1 of the receptacle electrical connector 100 is provided with a first opening 11 and two second openings 12 penetrating vertically, the first opening 11 is located between two abutting portions 4, the second openings 12 are respectively located between the first side wall 21 and the abutting portion 4 adjacent thereto, and between the third side wall 23 and the abutting portion 4 adjacent thereto, and a size of the first opening 11 along a transverse direction is larger than a size of the second opening 12. In other embodiments, the second opening 12 may be disposed between the second sidewall 22 and the abutting portion 4 adjacent to the fourth sidewall 24.
Referring to fig. 3 and 5, the two mating portions 4 of the receptacle electrical connector 100 are parallel to each other and laterally spaced apart from each other. The abutting portion 4 includes a central wall portion 41 rising upward along the bottom wall 1, protruding wall portions 42 located on both sides of the central wall portion 41 and parallel to the central wall portion 41, and an abutting groove 43 located between the central wall portion 41 and the protruding wall portions 42. The docking slots 43 are formed by being depressed downward from the upper surface of the docking portion 4, and the docking slots 43 are parallel and adjacent to each other. Each of the mating grooves 43 receives a row of receptacle terminals 102. The two abutting portions 4 are separated by a first distance 4a, the abutting portions 4 are separated from the corresponding adjacent side walls 2 by a second distance 4b, and the first distance 4a is larger than the second distance 4 b. The first distance 4a is equal to the size of the first opening 11 in the transverse direction, and the second distance 4b is equal to the size of the second opening 12 in the transverse direction.
The socket terminals 102 are arranged in four rows along the transverse direction and are accommodated in the mating grooves 43, and each socket terminal 102 has an elastic contact portion 1021 extending into the mating groove 43 and pins 1022 accommodated in the corresponding first and second openings 11 and 12.
In the present embodiment, the socket insulating body 101 of the socket electrical connector 100 is integrally formed, and the socket terminals 102 are inserted into the mating grooves 43 in a pin-inserting manner.
Referring to fig. 3 to 8, the plug electrical connector 200 includes a plug insulating body 201 and a plug terminal 202 disposed on the plug insulating body 201, wherein the plug insulating body 201 includes four sidewalls 5 connected to each other, a mating cavity 6 enclosed by the four sidewalls 5, and two longitudinal mating portions 7 protruding into the mating cavity 6.
Referring to fig. 4, the four sidewalls 5 of the plug electrical connector 200 are a first sidewall 51, a second sidewall 52, a third sidewall 53 and a fourth sidewall 54 in sequence. The first side wall 51 and the third side wall 53 are respectively provided with a first lug 511 and a second lug 531 which protrude and extend outwards along the outer side surface of the side wall 5, and the length of the first lug 511 in the lengthwise direction is smaller than that of the second lug 531. In other embodiments, the length of the first bump 511 along the longitudinal direction may be greater than that of the second bump 531, as long as the first bump 511 and the second bump 531 have different sizes along the longitudinal direction. Meanwhile, it is not limited that the first and third sidewalls 51 and 53 are provided with the protrusions, and the second and fourth sidewalls 52 and 54 may be provided with the protrusions. The first and second protrusions 511 and 531 are respectively matched with the first and second recesses 211 and 231. A chamfer 55 is provided at the abutment of two adjacent sidewalls 5, the chamfer 55 matching with the boss 25 of the receptacle electrical connector 100, in other embodiments, a plurality of chamfers 55 matching with a plurality of bosses 25 of the receptacle electrical connector 100 may be provided as desired.
Referring to fig. 5 and 6, a first opening 7a penetrating up and down is disposed between the two abutting portions 7, and a second opening 7b penetrating up and down is disposed between the abutting portion 7 and the adjacent first side wall 51 and third side wall 53, where the lengths of the first opening 7a and the second opening 7b along the transverse direction are the first distance and the second distance of the plug electrical connector 200, respectively. The first opening 7a and the second opening 7b of the plug electrical connector 200 are respectively penetrated through the first opening 11 and the second opening 12 of the socket electrical connector 100.
Each of the mating portions 7 of the plug electrical connector 200 includes a mating groove 71 recessed downward from an upper surface of the mating portion 7 and two protrusions 72 protruding from two sides of the mating groove 71, each of the mating grooves 71 is provided with two rows of plug terminals 202, and the two protrusions 72 are parallel to each other. The central wall 41 of the receptacle electrical connector 100 mates with the mating groove 71 of the header electrical connector 200, and the protrusion 72 of the header electrical connector 200 mates with the mating groove 43 of the receptacle electrical connector 100. The abutting portion 7 has a connecting portion (not shown) at both ends thereof for being integrally formed with the side wall 5.
Each plug terminal 202 has a flat contact portion 2021 extending into the mating groove 71 and attached to the inner wall surface of the mating groove 71, a bent portion 2022 bent along one end of the flat contact portion 2021, and a pin 2023 bent and extending along the other end of the flat contact portion 2021. The bent portion 2022 is fixed to the top of the protrusion 72, and the pin 2023 is received in the corresponding first and second openings 7a and 7 b.
In the present embodiment, the plug terminal 202 of the plug electrical connector 200 and the mating portion 7 are integrally molded, and then the side wall 5 and the mating portion 7 are integrally molded.
Referring to fig. 8, when the receptacle electrical connector 100 and the plug electrical connector 200 are mated with each other, the four sidewalls 5 of the plug electrical connector 200 are received in the mating cavity 3 of the receptacle electrical connector 100. The first and second protrusions 511 and 531 of the header electrical connector 200 are respectively received and held in the first and second recesses 211 and 231 of the receptacle electrical connector 100, the protrusion 72 of the header electrical connector 200 is inserted into the mating groove 43 of the receptacle electrical connector 100, and the central wall 41 of the receptacle electrical connector 100 is inserted into the mating groove 71 of the header electrical connector 200, so that the elastic contact portion 1021 of the receptacle terminal 102 contacts with the flat contact portion 2021 of the header terminal 202, thereby realizing signal transmission.
The electric connector has the beneficial effects that: the socket electric connector 100 and the plug electric connector 200 are respectively provided with four rows of socket terminals 102 and plug terminals 202, so that signal transmission channels of the electric connectors are increased to four channels, and the signal transmission speed is improved. Meanwhile, the socket insulator 101 is provided with first and second recesses 211 and 231 and a boss 25, and the plug insulator 201 is provided with first and second protrusions 511 and 531 respectively matched with the first and second recesses 211 and 231 and a chamfer 55 matched with the boss 25, so that reverse insertion when the socket electrical connector 100 is inserted into the plug electrical connector 200 is avoided.

Claims (9)
1. The electrical connector of claim 1, wherein: the butt joint part extends from the bottom wall, each butt joint part is concavely provided with two butt joint grooves which are parallel and adjacent to each other, each butt joint groove accommodates a row of terminals, and each terminal is provided with an elastic contact part extending into the butt joint groove.
4. The electrical connector of claim 3, wherein: the bottom wall of the socket electric connector is also provided with a first opening which penetrates through the socket electric connector from top to bottom, and the first opening is positioned between the two butting parts.
5. The electrical connector of claim 3, wherein: bosses are arranged at the adjacent positions of the two side walls and extend in a protruding mode towards the butt joint cavity along the inner side faces of the side walls.
