9. A hand sander as set forth in claim 8, wherein said support blocks are load bearing wheels rotatably connected to outwardly extending shafts on either side of said shield (4).

10. A hand sander as set forth in claim 9, wherein the load bearing wheel is a cylindrical roller bearing (3).
