Description

Door hinge assembly in washing machine
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a door hinge assembly for a washing machine and to a washing machine having the same.
Background
Washing machines are known which comprise a support and packaging structure, inside which a washing tub is packaged, provided with an opening which can be closed by a door hinged to the support and packaging structure. A basket for receiving laundry to be washed is rotatably provided inside the washing tub.
These washing machines comprise a hydraulic system for feeding tap water to the washing drum and a detergent dosing system with one or more detergent tanks containing detergent or other treatment substances (liquid or powder) for a single washing cycle (single-dose container) or for multiple washing cycles (multi-dose container).
The hydraulic system and the detergent dosing system may comprise one or more pumps and conduits for delivering water and for metering and dosing detergent.
In order to make the best use of the space available in a washing machine, it is known and desirable to place some components of the detergent delivery system (e.g., the detergent container and/or the metering pump) inside the door of the washing machine.
This means that hydraulic conduits and/or electrical lines (for operating the metering pump or the selector valve) need to be run from the housing to the door or vice versa.
The hydraulic conduits and/or electrical lines between the housing and the door are difficult to implement and subject to unintended stresses due to the door being hinged to the housing and its frequent switching movements. For example, it has been proposed to extend hydraulic conduits and/or electrical wiring proximate to the door hinge where the distance and relative movement between the door and the housing is reduced.
The conduit and wiring scheme near the hinge known to the inventors requires collapsible, bulky conduits and wiring to accommodate the relative motion and provide the necessary protection. These solutions, known to the inventors, are expensive, unreliable in the long run and structurally complex.
Disclosure of Invention
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a door hinge assembly for a washing machine having features such as improved fluid conduction between the housing and the door of the washing machine and/or improved electrical wiring between the housing and the door of the washing machine.
A particular object of the present invention is to provide a door hinge assembly for a washing machine having features such as to allow reliable and protected fluid conduction.
Another specific object of the present invention is to provide a door hinge assembly for a washing machine having features such as to allow reliable and protected electrical wiring.
Another particular object of the present invention is to provide a door hinge assembly for washing machines which also allows hydraulic delivery means or channels for electrical wiring, which is simple, compact and robust.
These and other objects are achieved by a door hinge assembly for a washing machine according to claim 1 and by a washing machine unit having said door hinge assembly.
The dependent claims relate to advantageous and preferred embodiments.
According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a door hinge assembly in a washing machine having a case forming a laundry loading opening, wherein the door hinge assembly includes:
-a door configured to close the laundry loading opening,
a hinge portion comprising one or more first hinge bodies fixedly connected with the housing and one or more second hinge bodies connected with the door,
wherein the one or more first hinge bodies are pivotably connected to the one or more second hinge bodies about a hinge axis, thereby obtaining a pivotal connection between the door and the housing about the hinge axis,
characterized in that, the door hinge subassembly includes:
-one or more first channels formed inside the one or more first hinge bodies, and
-one or more second channels formed inside said one or more second hinge bodies and connected to said one or more first channels in one or more respective pivot coupling interfaces around said hinge axis, so as to obtain one or more continuous conduits extending from said housing through said hinge to said door.
The continuous conduit thus created provides a hydraulic connection for the delivery of the laundry liquid and/or washing water and/or a passage for the passage of the electric wires, which is not subject to unforeseeable deformations, is protected from the external environment, is compact and does not encroach on the space of other components of the laundry washing machine.
According to another aspect of the invention, the one or more swivelling coupling interfaces isolate the interior of the first and second channels from the external environment in a fluid-tight manner (for example by means of an elastic sealing ring between the respective first and second channels).
This allows to directly use the first and second hinge bodies as hydraulic conduits and, in case of electrical wiring, it protects the electric wires extending along the first and second channels from moisture or water drops frequently present at the laundry loading opening.

Detailed Description
With reference to the figures, a door hinge assembly for/in a laundry washing machine 2 is indicated as a whole by the reference numeral 1, such a laundry washing machine 2 having a casing 3 forming a laundry loading opening 4.
The door hinge assembly 1 comprises a door 5 and a hinge portion 6, the door 5 being configured to close the laundry loading opening 4.
The hinge portion 6 comprises one or more first hinge bodies 7 fixedly connected or connectable to the housing 3 and one or more second hinge bodies 8 connected to the door 5.
The one or more first hinge bodies 7 are pivotably connected to said one or more second hinge bodies 8 about a single hinge axis 9, so that a pivotal connection between the door 5 and the one or more first hinge bodies 7 (and thus the housing 3) about the hinge axis 9 is (can be) obtained.
The door hinge assembly 1 comprises one or more first channels 10 formed inside the one or more first hinge bodies 7 and one or more second channels 11 formed inside the one or more second hinge bodies 8.
One or more second channels 11 are connected to said one or more first channels 10 in one or more respective pivotal coupling interfaces 12 around the hinge axis 9, so as to obtain one or more continuous conduits 13 extending from one or more first hinge bodies 7 or housings 3 through the hinge 6 to the door 5.
The continuous conduit 13 thus created provides a hydraulic connection for the delivery of the laundry liquid and/or washing water and/or a passage for the passage of an electric wire. The resulting hydraulic connections or electrical conduits are not subject to unplanned deformations, are protected from the external environment, are compact and do not encroach on the space of other components of the washing machine 2.
According to an embodiment, the one or more swivelling coupling interfaces 12 isolate the interior of the first and second channels 10, 11 from the external environment in a fluid-tight manner (for example by means of an elastic sealing ring 14 between the respective first and second channels 10, 11).
This allows to directly use the first and second hinge bodies 7, 8 as hydraulic conduits and, in case of electrical wiring, to protect the electrical wires extending along the first and second channels 10, 11 from moisture or water drops that frequently occur at the laundry loading opening 4.
Description of the geometry of the hinge bodies 7, 8
According to an embodiment of the invention, the first passage 10 of the first hinge body 7 extends from the first inlet end 16 to the first outlet end 15. Similarly, the second passage 11 of the second hinge body 8 extends from the second inlet end 18 to the second outlet end 17. The first outlet end 15 is integrally and rigidly connected or connectable to the housing 3. Second inlet end 18 is integrally and rigidly connected or connectable to door 5. The first inlet end 16 is pivotably connected to the second outlet end 17 at the pivot coupling interface 12.
According to an embodiment, at least one of the first hinge bodies 7 forms a first base 28, which first base 28 extends transversely with respect to the hinge axis 9 and is connected or connectable to the housing 3 and forms the first outlet end 15 of the first channel 10, and a plurality of first branches 29, which first branches 29 extend or branch from the first base 28 (at the first branch zone 30 of the first hinge body 7) in a direction substantially parallel or coaxial with respect to the hinge axis 9 and are connected to one or more second hinge bodies 8 and form the first inlet end 16 of the first channel 10.
According to an embodiment, the two first branch portions 29 extend from the first base portion 28 in mutually opposite directions, respectively.
According to another embodiment, the first base 28 is bent, for example at an angle of 60 ° to 120 ° (preferably about 90 °) around a bending axis 31 parallel to the pivot axis 9, so as to form a first leg 35 and a second leg 36 (fig. 6 and 7).
This facilitates the use of hinge 6 with thicker doors 5 and reconciles the structural requirements of hinge 6 with the requirements of fluid conduction or wire protection.
According to an embodiment, the one or more second hinge bodies 8 form a second base portion 32, which second base portion 32 extends substantially parallel to the hinge axis 9 and forms the second outlet end 17 of the second channel 11 and is connected to the first hinge body 7, and a second branch portion 33, which second branch portion 33 extends from the second base portion 32 (at a second branch region 34 of the second hinge body 8) in the transverse direction of the hinge axis 9 and is connected to the door 5 and forms the second inlet end 18 of the second channel 11.
According to an embodiment, the first hinge body 7 and the second hinge body 8 are configured (shaped and positioned) such that, with the door 5 in the closed position:
a first branch 29 of the first hinge body 7, and
second base 32 and second branch 33 of second hinge body 8, and
-articulated shaft 9
Lying on the same plane, which is preferably parallel to the plane of the door 5,
while the first base 28 of the first hinge body 7 extends at least partially transversely with respect to the hinge axis 9.
This configuration is very compact and allows to create an outer surface parallel to the front face of the housing 3 in the position where the door 5 is visible.
According to one embodiment, the second inlet end 18 of the second channel 11 forms an externally tapered frustum-conical connector 37, which connector 37 has a circumferential undercut or circumferential step, which is suitable for hydraulic connection with a pipe inside the door 5, for example by means of a snap or interference fit (interference).
According to another embodiment, hinge 6 also comprises one or more third hinge bodies 21, which third hinge body(s) 21 are pivotably connected to first hinge body(s) 7 about hinge axis 9 (for example by interposing bearings 49 or bushings, fig. 12 and 16) and permanently connected to door 5, so as to create an auxiliary rotary connection between door 5 and first hinge body(s) 7 (and therefore housing 3) about hinge axis 9, for example for the purpose of structurally reinforcing hinge 6. This allows, for example, to optimize the second articulation body 8 for sizing and positioning the continuous conduit 13 independently of the structural function of the articulation 6, and to optimize the third articulation body 21 for sizing and structural positioning, regardless of whether the articulation 6 functions as a hydraulic conduit or as a passage for electrical wiring.
According to an embodiment, the third hinge body or bodies 21 comprise a box-like profile (fig. 3, 4, 10, 11), for example open or closed and for example metal or plastic, which forms:
a hinge seat 40, which hinge seat 40 pivotally accommodates a respective hinge portion (for example branch 29 described above) of the first hinge body 7, and
a cavity 41, which cavity 41 at least partially houses and encloses (the first base 28 of) the first hinge body 7.
This reconciles the need for compactness, protection and robustness of the hinge 6.
According to an embodiment, the one or more third hinging bodies 21 comprise a first half-shell 43 and a second half-shell 43 ', the first and second half-shells 43 and 43' jointly defining the hinging body 40 and, possibly, the cavity 41, being connected to each other so as to enclose the first hinging body 7. Advantageously, the first half-shell 43 forms part of a first portion 45 of the frame 44 of the door 5 and the second half-shell 43 ' forms part of a second portion 45 ' of the frame 44, which second portion 45 ' can be connected to the first portion 45 to form the frame 44 of the door 5 (fig. 1, 2, 3, 11 and, in sequence, fig. 13 to 17).
According to an embodiment (fig. 5, 6), the hinge portion 6 further comprises a single mounting plate 19, which mounting plate 19 is integrated or formed in one piece with all the first hinge bodies 7 and is provided with two mounting holes 20 for mounting the door hinge assembly 1 to the housing 3.
This facilitates pre-assembly of the door hinge assembly 1 and assembly of the washing machine 2 and reduces the number of connecting parts.
According to another embodiment (fig. 5, 6), the hinge 6 or the washing machine 2 further comprises an auxiliary plate 46, which auxiliary plate 46 can be connected to the single mounting plate 19 and supports a plurality of hydraulic connectors 47 (for example hydraulic elbow connectors), each hydraulic connector 47 having a first end connectable (for example by male-female insertion) to one of the first channels 10 and a second end connectable to a duct arranged outside the door 5.
The auxiliary plates 46 are grouped together and support a plurality or all of the hydraulic connections (washing machine side) in the desired positions for connection to the door hinge assembly 1, facilitating pre-assembly of the hydraulic system 42 and/or detergent delivery system 22 of the washing machine 2.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the hydraulic connectors 47 are supported in the auxiliary plate 46 with the possibility of position adjustment, for example by means of a guide housing formed inside one or more adjustment grooves 48 in the auxiliary plate 46.
This allows the same type of auxiliary plate 46 to be used universally for different door hinge assemblies having different center distances between the first channels 10.
Description of the geometry of the channels 10, 11
According to an embodiment, the first channel 10 comprises at least one channel without branches or all without branches (fig. 8).
For example, the first base 28 of the first hinge body 7 may form two or more first outlet ends 15 of two or more respective first channels 10, and the first branch portions 29 may each form only one of the first inlet ends 16, respectively. Two or more first channels 10 may thus each extend individually in one of the first branch portions 29 and together in parallel in the first base portion 28.
According to an alternative embodiment, the first channel 10 may comprise at least one channel with a Y-shaped branch (fig. 9). In this case, the first passage 10 may have only one first inlet end 16 and a plurality of first outlet ends 15, or only one first outlet end 15 and a plurality of first inlet ends 16.
This allows, for example, a single inlet stream to be distributed to a plurality of different uses, such as a plurality of valves or metering pumps or detergent compartments. This also allows a greater number of portions of the hinge 6 to be used to define a greater number of different conduits 13.
According to a preferred embodiment, the hinge 6 comprises two hinge units, wherein each hinge unit comprises:
a single first articulation body 7, which single first articulation body 7 forms two first channels 10 therein,
two second articulation bodies 8, the two second articulation bodies 8 each forming a single second channel 11 therein,
and wherein the two first channels 10 are respectively connected with only one second channel 11 of the two second channels 11, so as to create two continuous channels 13, which two continuous channels 13 are distinct and extend from the housing 3 through the hinge 6 to the door 5.
Advantageously, the two successive conduits 13 are separate and independent from each other. Thus, each successive conduit 13 can be used to deliver a different treatment substance without the risk of undesired mixing. Furthermore, the separate continuous conduits 13 may be used for different purposes, for example, the first continuous conduit 13 may be used as a hydraulic conduit for detergent and/or rinsing water, and the second continuous conduit 13 may be used as a passage for the passage of electrical wires.
Detailed description of the washing machine 2
According to one embodiment, the washing machine 2 comprises a casing 3 defining a laundry loading opening 4 and a door hinge assembly 1 connected to the casing 3.
The washing machine 2 further includes:
a washing drum 38, the washing drum 38 being arranged in the housing 3 and forming a drum opening at the loading opening 4,
a laundry basket 39, which laundry basket 39 is pivotally arranged inside the washing tub 38 and has a laundry basket opening formed at the loading opening (fig. 1).
The washing machine 2 further comprises a hydraulic system 42 for feeding tap water to the washing drum 38 and a detergent dispensing system 22 for metering and/or delivering detergent into the washing drum 38, wherein at least one of the hydraulic system 42 and the detergent dispensing system 22 is connected (e.g. in flow communication or by passage of an electrical cable) to the one or more first and second channels 10, 11 of the door hinge assembly 1.
According to an embodiment, the detergent dosing system 22 comprises one or more metering pumps 23 located in the housing 3, outside the door 5, and one or more detergent tanks or compartments 24 located inside the door 5, or vice versa, wherein the metering pumps 23 and the detergent tanks or compartments 24 are connected in fluid communication (conduit 25, conduit 26, conduit 27) by means of one or more first channels 10 and second channels 11 of the door hinge assembly 1.
It is clear that a person skilled in the art may apply further variants and modifications to the door hinge assembly 1 and to the washing machine 2 described herein, without departing from the scope of protection of the present invention, as defined by the annexed claims.
