Hereinafter, an embodiment of the electrical connector 100 of the present invention will be described with reference to fig. 1 to 7. The electrical connector is adapted to be connected to a mating connector having a mating tongue (not shown). The electrical connector 100 includes an insulative housing 1, two rows of conductive terminals 2 fixed to the insulative housing 1, a metal ground 3 fixed to the insulative housing 1, an insulative film 4 attached to the insulative housing 1, and a housing 5 for accommodating the insulative housing 1. The housing 5 is here preferably a metal housing, but may of course also be a plastic housing.
Referring to fig. 2 to 4, the insulating housing 1 includes a rear end portion for holding the conductive terminal 2 and a front end portion 13 having a receiving cavity 130. The rear end portion refers to a first insulating body 11 and a second insulating body 12 mutually buckled with the first insulating body 11. The first insulating body 11 includes a first assembling surface 115, a first sinking groove 116 concavely disposed behind the first assembling surface 115, a first cylindrical buckling column 111 located in the first sinking groove 116, a first square buckling block 112 located beside the first buckling column 111, a first buckling hole 113 located between the first buckling column 111 and the first buckling block 112, and a first buckling hole 114 located on the other side of the first buckling column 111. The first locking hole 113 is circular. The first holding hole 114 has a square shape. The second insulating body 12 includes a second assembling surface 125 mutually matched with the first assembling surface 115, a second sinking groove 126 concavely disposed behind the second assembling surface 125, a second fastening hole 123 for holding the first fastening column 111, a second fastening hole 124 for holding the first fastening block 112, a second fastening column 121 sleeved on the first fastening hole 113, and a second fastening block 122 sleeved on the first fastening hole 114. As shown in fig. 2 to fig. 7, the front end portion 13 is disposed in a cylindrical shape and includes the accommodating cavity 130. The front end portion 13 includes a hollow portion 131 hollowed out on the upper surface and the lower surface, a clamping groove 132 disposed on both sides of the front end portion 13 and penetrating the rear end, two rows of terminal grooves 134 disposed in the accommodating cavity 130 and having through holes 133 disposed at the front end of the hollow portion 32, and a spacing rib 135 disposed between the adjacent terminal grooves 134 and forming the terminal grooves 134. The inner wall of the receiving cavity 130 protrudes towards the receiving cavity 130 to form a protrusion 1351 for tightly holding the tongue butt plate in the receiving cavity 130. The protrusion 1351 protrudes from at least one of the upper inner wall and the lower inner wall of the receiving cavity 130 into the receiving cavity 130. The protrusions 1351 may be formed only on the upper inner wall of the receiving chamber, only on the lower inner wall of the receiving chamber, or on both the upper inner wall and the lower inner wall of the receiving chamber, and the number of the protrusions is limited only by the spacing ribs 135. Of course, the protrusions 1351 may be disposed on both lateral sides of the receiving cavity 130. In this embodiment, a pair of the protrusions 1351 are laterally spaced apart from each other on the upper inner wall and the lower inner wall of the receiving cavity. The number of the protrusions 1351 is four, and the protrusions are arranged symmetrically up and down and left and right. The vertical distance or the transverse distance of the accommodating cavity 130 where the protrusions 1351 are arranged is smaller than the vertical thickness or the transverse width of the butt tongue plate. The protrusions 1351 protrude from the surface of the partition rib 135 into the receiving cavity 130. In this embodiment, the protrusion is disposed at the rear end of the accommodating cavity 130. Wherein the rear end refers to a root portion inside the receiving cavity 130 near the rear end. In other embodiments, the protrusion may be disposed at the front portion of the receiving cavity 130, and when the protrusion 1351 is disposed at the front portion of the receiving cavity, the butt-joint tongue plate contacts with the protrusion 1351 first, and then is inserted into the receiving cavity 130 and contacts with the conductive terminal, which not only requires a greater force for use, but also easily damages the butt-joint tongue plate, so the protrusion 1351 is disposed at the rear portion of the receiving cavity 130, which is the most preferable solution. The front end of the protrusion 1351 is provided with a guiding inclined surface 1352 for guiding the tongue butt plate to be inserted into the accommodating cavity 130.
Referring to fig. 3 to 7, the conductive terminals 2 include an upper row of conductive terminals 21 integrally formed with the first insulating body 11 and a lower row of conductive terminals 22 integrally formed with the second insulating body 12. Each of the conductive terminals 2 includes a fixing portion 24 fixed to the insulating housing 1, a contact portion extending forward from the fixing portion 24 and protruding into the receiving cavity 130, and a soldering portion 25 extending backward from the fixing portion 24. Each row of conductive terminals 2 includes a pair of ground terminals 2g located on the outermost side, a pair of power terminals 2p located inside the ground terminals 2g and spaced from the ground terminals by two terminal positions, a signal terminal located between the pair of power terminals 2p, and a signal terminal located between the power terminal 2p and the ground terminal 2g on the same side. In other embodiments, the protrusions 1351 may be positioned on the spacer ribs 135. In the present embodiment, the bumps 1351 are provided on the spacer ribs 135 between the power terminal 2p and the adjacent outer signal terminal. The bump 1351 is located behind the contact portion 23 of the conductive terminal 2. The arrangement can ensure that the butt tongue plate is firstly contacted with the conductive terminal and then contacted with the bump 1351, and the electric connector cannot be damaged because the butt tongue plate is damaged and then contacted with the conductive terminal after being clamped and contacted with the bump 1351.
Referring to fig. 3 to 4, the metal ground element 3 is clamped between the first insulating body 11 and the second insulating body 12. The metal grounding member 3 includes a base 31 laterally disposed between the first insulating body 11 and the second insulating body 12, and a pair of hooks 32 extending forward from two lateral sides of the base 31. The base 31 is provided with a pair of holding holes 311 for holding the first and second locking posts 111 and 121, and a pair of holding notches 312 located at two sides of the pair of holding holes 311 for holding the first and second locking blocks 112 and 122. The hook 32 includes a fastening portion 321 at the front end and a solder leg 322 at the rear end. The welding feet 23 are arranged in two rows.
Referring to fig. 3 to 4, the insulating film 4 is attached to the hollow portion 131. The metal shell 5 is cylindrical and has a receiving space 50 for covering the insulating body 1.
When the electrical connector 100 is assembled, the first insulating body 11 and the upper row of conductive terminals 21 are integrally formed, and the second insulating body 12 and the lower row of conductive terminals 22 are integrally formed. Then, the molded first insulating body 11 is molded with the upper row of conductive terminals 21, the metal grounding member 3, and the molded second insulating body 12 is molded with the lower row of conductive terminals 22. The first mounting surface 115 is mounted on the second mounting surface 125, and the base 31 is held between the first sinking groove 116 and the second sinking groove 126. Meanwhile, the first locking post 111 and the second locking hole 123 are locked together, and the first locking block 112 and the second locking hole 124 are locked together. Meanwhile, the second locking post 121 and the first locking hole 113 are locked to each other. The second fastening block 122 is fastened to the first fastening hole 114. The solder tails 322 are located at two sides of the soldering portion 25 of the conductive terminal 2. The assembled module is then inserted into the receiving cavity 130 formed by the front end 13 from the rear to the front, so that the hook 22 is located in the clamping groove 132. The first insulating body 11 and the second insulating body 12 are exposed to the hollow portion 131. The insulating film 4 is attached to the insulating body 1 to realize water resistance. Finally, the assembled semi-finished product is loaded into the metal shell 5 from back to front.
When the electric connector is butted with the butting connector, the butting tongue plate extends into the accommodating cavity 130 and is butted with the conductive terminal 2 of the electric connector, and at the moment, the protrusions 1351 are arranged on the upper wall surface and the lower wall surface of the insulating body 1 to fix the front end of the butting tongue plate in an interference manner, so that the electric connector and the butting connector are butted stably without shaking easily.
The above description is only a part of the embodiments of the present invention, and not all embodiments, and any equivalent variations of the technical solutions of the present invention, which are made by those skilled in the art through reading the present specification, are covered by the claims of the present invention.
