A card edge connector comprises a lengthwise insulating shell, a terminal module fixed on the insulating shell and a grounding piece fixed on the terminal module, wherein the insulating shell comprises two side walls extending along the lengthwise direction and a card insertion slot formed between the two side walls, the terminal module comprises an insulating body and two rows of conductive terminals fixed on the insulating body, each row of conductive terminals comprises grounding terminals arranged on the corresponding side wall, each grounding piece comprises a first grounding piece surrounding the terminal module and a second grounding piece fixed between the two rows of conductive terminals, and the first grounding piece and the second grounding piece are respectively and electrically connected with the corresponding grounding terminals in each row of conductive terminals. Referring to fig. 1 to 9, the present invention discloses a card edge connector 100, which includes an elongated insulative housing 1, a terminal module 2 held in the insulative housing 1, and a grounding piece 3 held in the terminal module 2. The insulative housing 1 includes two side walls 10 extending in a longitudinal direction and a card insertion slot 11 formed between the two side walls 10 and opened forward. The terminal module 2 includes an insulative housing 4 and two rows of conductive terminals 5 fixed to the insulative housing 4. Each row of conductive terminals 5 includes a ground terminal 51 and a signal terminal 52 disposed on the corresponding side wall 10. The grounding piece 3 includes a first grounding piece 31 surrounding the terminal module 2 and a second grounding piece 32 held between two rows of conductive terminals 5. The first and second grounding members 31 and 32 are electrically connected to the corresponding grounding terminal 51 of each row of conductive terminals 5. With such an arrangement, the first grounding piece 31 surrounding the terminal module 2 and the second grounding piece 32 held between the two rows of conductive terminals 5 improve the overall high-frequency effect of the card edge connector 100.
Referring to fig. 5 and 6, each of the first and second grounding members 31 and 32 includes a flat plate portion 33 extending along the longitudinal direction and an elastic arm 34 extending outward from the longitudinal edge of the flat plate portion 33. The elastic arm 34 abuts against the ground terminal 51.
Referring to fig. 8 and 9, each conductive terminal 5 includes a vertical segment 551 extending in a vertical direction perpendicular to the sidewall 10, and the elastic arm 34 of the second ground element 32 abuts against the vertical segment 551 of the ground terminal 51. Each conductive terminal 5 further includes a horizontal section 552 extending in a horizontal direction parallel to the sidewall 10, and the elastic arm 34 of the first grounding member 31 abuts against the horizontal section 552 of the grounding terminal 51.
Referring to fig. 5 and 6, the card edge connector 100 further includes a partition 6 integrally injection-molded with the second ground piece 32. The flat plate portion 33 of the second ground member 32 is embedded in the spacer 6, and the elastic arm 34 of the second ground member 32 is exposed to the spacer 6. Further, the elastic arm 34 of the second grounding member 32 includes a bent portion 341 bent upward from the longitudinal side edge of the flat plate portion 33 and a contact portion 342 extending upward from the bent portion 341. The contact portion 342 is exposed to the separator 6 by abutting against the vertical segment 551, and the bent portion 341 is embedded in the separator 6. In the present embodiment, the position of the second grounding member 32 in the partition 6 is as shown in fig. 8, but the position of the second grounding member 32 in the partition 6 can be adjusted up and down according to the height of the vertical segment 551 in the direction perpendicular to the side wall 10 to achieve the best grounding effect of the card edge connector 100 in the high frequency state.
The separator 6 includes a separation island 61 extending in the longitudinal direction. The separating island 61 has two opposite surfaces, respectively a first mounting surface 611 and a second mounting surface 612, for positioning two rows of conductive terminals 5, respectively. The separating island 61 is provided with positioning blocks 613 protruding outward from the bottoms of the first and second mounting surfaces 611 and 612, respectively. The conductive terminal 5 is held between two adjacent positioning blocks 613. The separating island 61 is provided with ribs 614 at both sides of the ground terminal 51 positioned to the second mounting surface 612, and each rib 614 is connected to one positioning block 613 positioned at the second mounting surface 612.
Referring to fig. 4, the rear end surface of the insulating housing 1 is provided with two fixing portions 12 protruding outward. The two fixing parts 12 are suspended on the rear end face of the insulating housing 1 and the top faces of the fixing parts 12 are flush with the top face of the insulating housing 1. Two opposite side surfaces of the two fixing portions 12 are respectively provided with a concave groove 121. The partition 6 is provided at both ends with protrusions 62 protruding outward, and the protrusions 62 are interference-fixed to the grooves 121.
Referring to fig. 5 and 6, the first grounding member 31 includes a third grounding member 35 and a fourth grounding member 36 which are oppositely disposed. The third and fourth grounding members 35 and 36 include end plate portions 37 bent and extended from both ends of the flat plate portion 33. The third and fourth grounding pieces 35 and 36 are joined to each other by the respective end plate portions 37 to surround the terminal module 2. The end plate portions 37 formed by bending both ends of the flat plate portion 33 are defined as a first end plate portion 371 and a second end plate portion 372, respectively. The length of the first end plate portion 371 in the direction perpendicular to the side wall 10 is larger than the length of the second end plate portion 372 in the direction perpendicular to the side wall 10.
The insulating body 4 includes a first insulating body 41 and a second insulating body 42 fixed to each other. The first and second insulating bodies 41 and 42 are formed with bosses 43 projecting in the longitudinal direction at a distance from each other in the longitudinal direction. The first end plate portion 371 of the third grounding member 35 is attached to the boss 43 and partially overlaps the second end plate portion 372 of the fourth grounding member 36. The end plate portions 37 of the third and fourth ground members 35, 36 are fixed to each other by welding. In the present embodiment, the welding is preferably spot welding, but the two end plate portions 37 may be mechanically fixed to surround the terminal module 2.
Referring to fig. 7 to 9, each of the conductive terminals 5 includes a contact portion 53 extending into the card insertion slot 11, a pin 54 fixed to an external circuit board, and a connection portion 55 connected between the contact portion 53 and the pin 54. The connection portion 55 is composed of a vertical section 551 and a horizontal section 552. The pins 54 of each row of conductive terminals 5 are bent from the ends of the vertical sections 551, and the bending directions of the pins 51 of the two rows of conductive terminals 5 are opposite. The center lines of the contact portion 53, the connection portion 55, and the pin 54 of the ground terminal 51 are aligned on the same straight line X. The center lines of the contact portion 53, the connecting portion 55 and the pin 54 of the signal terminal 52 are not on the same straight line Y.
