a display device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
as shown in fig. 1, a display device provided in an embodiment of the present invention includes: the backlight module 100, the first liquid crystal display panel 200 located at the light-emitting side of the backlight module 100, and the second liquid crystal display panel 300 located at the side of the first liquid crystal display panel 200 departing from the backlight module 100; the first liquid crystal display panel 200 is used for modulating light incident to the second liquid crystal display panel 300; the backlight module 100 includes a brightness enhancement film 40, the brightness enhancement film 40 is used as a polarizer on a side of the first liquid crystal display panel 200 facing the backlight module 100, and the brightness enhancement film 40 is a reflective polarizer.
the display device provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises two layers of liquid crystal display panels, the backlight module 100 and the first liquid crystal display panel 200 positioned on the light-emitting side of the backlight module 100 form a liquid crystal display device, the liquid crystal display device is used as the backlight of the second liquid crystal display panel 300, and the liquid crystal display device is used as the backlight, so that the pixel-level light control can be achieved. Under the black field display, the double-layer liquid crystal display panel is turned off at the same time, so that the black field brightness is greatly reduced to 0.004 nits.
In the display device provided in the embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 1, the backlight module 100 includes a brightness enhancement film 40, and the brightness enhancement film used in the backlight module can be a transmissive brightness enhancement film, such as BEF, which can process the surface of a film and change the emergent angle of light by using the refraction principle of light, so as to achieve the brightness enhancement effect; the brightness enhancement film in the embodiment of the present invention is a reflective polarizer, the operation principle of the reflective polarizer 40 is shown in fig. 2, the reflective polarizer includes a multi-layer reflective polarizing film, which can transmit P light with a polarization direction parallel to the incident plane and reflect S light with a polarization direction perpendicular to the incident plane. The light emitted from the backlight module 100 is natural light, i.e. P light and S light; when the outgoing light of the backlight module 100 is incident on the reflective polarizer 40, P light is transmitted, S light is reflected to one side of the backlight module 100, the part of the light reflected to the backlight module 100 is reflected by the reflective element in the backlight module 100, the polarization direction is changed, the part of the light can be decomposed into P light and S light, and the P light and the S light are incident on the reflective polarizer 40 again, and similarly, the P light is transmitted, and the S light is reflected to one side of the backlight module 100. Meanwhile, the light transmitted by the reflective polarizer 40 is polarized light, so that the polarizer on the side of the first liquid crystal display panel 200 facing the backlight module 100 can be omitted, and the production cost can be reduced.
in practical implementation, as shown in fig. 3, the liquid crystal display device further includes, between the first liquid crystal display panel 200 and the second liquid crystal display panel 300: a first polarizing plate 50; the side of the second liquid crystal display panel 300 facing away from the first polarizer 50 further includes: a second polarizer 60; the polarization directions of the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 and the first polarizer 50 are perpendicular to each other, and the polarization directions of the first polarizer 50 and the second polarizer 60 are perpendicular to each other. In the display device provided by the embodiment of the invention, the first liquid crystal display panel 200 and the second liquid crystal display panel 300 share the first polarizer 50, and the polarizer on the side of the first liquid crystal display panel 200 facing the backlight module 100 is omitted, so that the number of used polarizers is reduced, and the production cost is reduced. In order to realize normal display of the liquid crystal display panel, the polarization directions of the polarizers located at two sides of the liquid crystal display panel need to be perpendicular to each other, so in the embodiment of the present invention, the polarization direction of the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) is set to be perpendicular to the polarization direction of the first polarizer, and the polarization direction of the second polarizer is set to be perpendicular to the polarization direction of the first polarizer.
the position of the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 between the backlight module 100 and the first liquid crystal display panel 200 can be flexibly set according to the actual manufacturing process. In one implementation, as shown in fig. 3, a brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 may be disposed at the outermost side of the backlight module 100 facing the first liquid crystal display panel 200. As described above, the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 has a brightness enhancement function, so as to improve the light-emitting efficiency of the backlight module, and in order to ensure the polarization effect of the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 on the emitted light, the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 may be disposed at the outermost side of the backlight module 100, so that the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 serves as both the brightness enhancement film of the backlight module 100 and the lower polarizer of the first liquid crystal display panel 200. The brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 is disposed in the backlight module 100, so that the position of the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 can be set according to the light exit path of the backlight module, thereby improving the brightness enhancement effect of the reflective polarizer.
In another implementation manner, as shown in fig. 4, a brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 may be disposed on a surface of the first liquid crystal display panel 200 facing the backlight module 100. By disposing the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 on the first liquid crystal display panel 200, the brightness enhancement component in the backlight module 100 can be omitted, and the overall thickness of the backlight module can be reduced. Meanwhile, after the light emitted from the backlight module passes through the brightness enhancement film (reflection-type polarizer) 40, the light incident on the first liquid crystal display panel 200 is polarized light, and can be matched with the first liquid crystal display panel to perform pixel-level light control.
The backlight module provided by the embodiment of the invention can adopt a side-in type backlight module, as shown in fig. 5, the backlight module comprises: the backlight module comprises a light guide plate 11, a light source 12 positioned at the light incident surface of the light guide plate 11, an optical film 13 positioned at the light emergent surface of the light guide plate 11, and a reflector 14 positioned at one side of the light guide plate 11, which is far away from the optical film 13; when the side-in type backlight module is used, as shown in fig. 5, a brightness enhancement film (a reflective polarizer) 40 may be disposed on a surface of the optical film 13 facing away from the light guide plate 11. The light emitted from the light source 12 is incident on the light guide plate 11 at an incident angle equal to or greater than the total reflection angle, and is transmitted through the light guide plate to form a surface light source. An optical film 13 is disposed on one side of the light-emitting surface of the light guide plate 11, and further adjusts the light emitted from the light guide plate, the light passes through the optical film 13 and enters the reflective polarizer 40, and the incident light is natural light and can be decomposed into P light with a polarization direction parallel to the light-entering surface and S light with a polarization direction perpendicular to the light-entering surface, and the energy of each light is 50%. The reflection-type polarizer 40 transmits the P light and reflects the S light to the optical film 13 side, and the part of the light is reflected by the reflector 14 in the backlight module, the polarization direction changes and can still be decomposed into the P light and the S light, and the reflection-type polarizer 40 transmits the part of the P light and reflects the S light to the optical film 13 side, so that the transmission of more than 80% of light quantity of the backlight module can be realized through the above circulation process, and the effect of increasing light is achieved. Meanwhile, the light emitted from the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 is P-light, so that the polarizer below the first liquid crystal display panel 200 can be omitted, thereby reducing the cost.
The backlight module provided by the embodiment of the invention can also adopt a direct type backlight module, as shown in fig. 6, the backlight module comprises: the light source module comprises light sources 11 ' arranged in an array, a diffusion plate 12 ' positioned on the light emitting side of the light sources 11 ', a reflection sheet 13 ' positioned on the side, away from the diffusion plate 12 ', of the light sources 11 ', and an optical film 14 ' positioned on the side, away from the light sources 11 ', of the diffusion plate 12 '; when the direct-type backlight module is used, as shown in fig. 6, a brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 may be disposed on a surface of the optical film 14 'facing away from the diffuser 12'. The light emitted from the light source 11 'is first converted into a surface light source through the diffusion plate 12'. The diffuser plate is provided with an optical membrane 14' on the side departing from the light source, outgoing light rays are further adjusted, the light rays are incident to a brightness enhancement film (reflection-type polarizer) 40 through an optical membrane 13, the incident light rays are natural light and can be decomposed into P light with the polarization direction parallel to the light incident surface and S light with the polarization direction perpendicular to the light incident surface, and the energy of the P light and the S light respectively accounts for 50%. The reflection-type polarizer 40 transmits the P light and reflects the S light to the side of the optical film 14 ', the polarization direction of the part of the light is changed after being reflected by the reflector 13 ' in the backlight module and can still be decomposed into the P light and the S light, the brightness enhancement film (reflection-type polarizer) 40 transmits the part of the P light and reflects the S light to the side of the optical film 14 ', and the transmission of more than 80% of light quantity of the backlight module can be realized through the above circulation process, so that the effect of enhancing light is achieved. Meanwhile, the light emitted from the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 is P-light, so that the polarizer below the first liquid crystal display panel 200 can be omitted, thereby reducing the cost.
In a specific implementation, as shown in fig. 7, the first liquid crystal display panel 200 includes: a first array substrate 21, a first counter substrate 22 disposed opposite to the first array substrate 21, and a first liquid crystal layer 23 between the first array substrate 21 and the first counter substrate 22; the second liquid crystal display panel 300 includes: a second array substrate 31, a second opposite substrate 32 disposed opposite to the second array substrate 31, and a second liquid crystal layer 33 between the second array substrate 31 and the second opposite substrate 32. The display device provided by the embodiment of the invention further comprises a color film layer 34 only arranged on the second opposite substrate 32.
Since the liquid crystal display device formed by the first liquid crystal display panel 200 and the backlight module 100 is used as the backlight of the second liquid crystal display panel 300, a color film layer is not required to be arranged in the first liquid crystal display panel 200, and only the color film layer is required to be arranged in the second liquid crystal display panel 300, so that the thickness of the whole machine is further reduced. In practical applications, the color film layer 34 in the second liquid crystal display panel may be disposed on a surface of the second opposite substrate 32 facing the second liquid crystal layer 33. The color film layer 34 may include color film regions corresponding to the opening regions of the pixel units in the second liquid crystal display panel and light-shielding regions located between the color film regions, and spacers may be further disposed in the light-shielding regions for supporting between the second array substrate 31 and the second opposite substrate 32 to maintain the uniform cell thickness of the second liquid crystal layer 33.
The voltage is applied to the first liquid crystal layer of the first liquid crystal display panel, so that liquid crystal molecules in the first liquid crystal layer can deflect to different degrees, different transmittances can be realized, and modulation of incident light of the second liquid crystal display panel is completed. The liquid crystal molecules in the second liquid crystal layer can be deflected to different degrees by applying voltage to the second liquid crystal layer of the second liquid crystal display panel, so that different transmittances are realized, and image display is completed. In order to make the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer perform the above functions, the initial alignment of the liquid crystal molecules and the polarization directions of the polarizers on both sides of the liquid crystal display panel need to be specially set, in the embodiment of the present invention, the polarization direction of the brightness enhancement film (reflective polarizer) 40 is parallel to the initial alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules in the first liquid crystal layer 23. The polarization direction of the first polarizer and the initial alignment of the liquid crystal molecules in the second liquid crystal layer 33 are parallel to each other.
in the display device provided by the embodiment of the invention, the first liquid crystal display panel is used for modulating the light incident to the second liquid crystal display panel, and the second liquid crystal display panel is used for displaying images, so that compared with the second liquid crystal display panel, the first liquid crystal display panel does not need too high resolution, and the resolution of the first liquid crystal display panel 200 can be smaller than or equal to the resolution of the second liquid crystal display panel 300. Of course, the higher the resolution of the first liquid crystal display panel is, the finer the partitioning can be realized, and the regional dimming which has higher requirements for the second liquid crystal display panel can be realized. As shown in fig. 8, the first liquid crystal display panel 200 includes a plurality of first pixel units P1, the second liquid crystal display panel 300 includes a plurality of second pixel units P2, and one first pixel unit P1 corresponds to one second pixel unit P2. The first array substrate in the first liquid crystal display panel comprises a driving circuit layer, the pixel electrode of each first pixel unit is connected with a data signal line through a Thin Film Transistor (TFT), and different data signals can be loaded on different first pixel units P1 through scanning the data signal line; similarly, the second array substrate in the second lcd panel also includes a driving circuit layer, the pixel electrode of each second pixel unit is connected to the data signal line through a thin film transistor TFT, and different data signals can be loaded onto different second pixel units P2 by scanning the data signal line. While one first pixel unit can adjust the light of the corresponding second pixel unit, the structure shown in fig. 8 can be adopted to realize pixel-level partition on the display panel.
In another implementable manner, as shown in fig. 9, the first liquid crystal display panel 200 may include the first pixel unit P1 corresponding to the three second liquid crystal display panels 300 including the second pixel unit P2; one first pixel cell P1 covers three second pixel cells P2 in an orthographic projection of the second liquid crystal display panel. Since the first liquid crystal display panel does not need to be provided with a color film, the emergent light of the first pixel unit P1 is white light; the second liquid crystal display panel is provided with a color film layer, the second pixel unit P2 may include a red pixel unit R, a green pixel unit G and a blue pixel unit B, one red pixel unit R, one green pixel unit G and one blue pixel unit B constitute one display unit, the first pixel unit of the first liquid crystal display panel corresponds to one display unit of the second liquid crystal display panel, and the first pixel unit may adjust the light of the display unit.
the present invention provides a display device including: the backlight module comprises a backlight module, a first liquid crystal display panel and a second liquid crystal display panel, wherein the first liquid crystal display panel is positioned at the light-emitting side of the backlight module, and the second liquid crystal display panel is positioned at the side, departing from the backlight module, of the first liquid crystal display panel; the first liquid crystal display panel is used for modulating light rays incident to the second liquid crystal display panel; the backlight module comprises a brightness enhancement film, the brightness enhancement film is used as a polarizer on one side of the first liquid crystal display panel facing the backlight module, and the brightness enhancement film is a reflection-type polarizer. The liquid crystal display device formed by the backlight module and the first liquid crystal display panel positioned on the light-emitting side of the backlight module is used as the backlight of the second liquid crystal display panel, and the liquid crystal display device is used as the backlight, so that the pixel-level light control can be achieved.
