The appearances of the phrase in various places in the specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment, nor are separate or alternative embodiments mutually exclusive of other embodiments. It is explicitly and implicitly understood by one skilled in the art that the embodiments described herein can be combined with other embodiments.
In practical applications, due to different applications of the display device, there are different requirements on the shape of the display portion of the display panel, for example, the display area of the display panel may need to be square, circular, oval, irregular, etc., and of course, the shape of the display panel itself is also the shape of the display area. The application is applied to the display panel with the special-shaped display area. However, for a display panel with a display area having an irregular edge shape, an edge saw effect is likely to occur at the display edge. Based on this, this application provides a display panel, mainly solves the great, obvious problem of sawtooth sense of sawtooth.
Referring to fig. 1, fig. 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present application. The display panel 100 of the present embodiment defines a regular display area 111 and an irregular display area 112, wherein pixels of the regular display area 111 are arranged in a regular array and achieve regular full display, and the irregular display area 112 corresponds to an irregular boundary of the display panel 100, wherein the pixels are not arranged in a regular manner or displayed in a regular manner.
In this embodiment, the regular display area 111 includes a plurality of first area pixels 121, and the boundaries of the plurality of first area pixels 121 close to the special-shaped display area 112 form a first area pixel step boundary 113; while the area between the first region pixel step boundary 113 and the boundary 114 of the shaped display area 112 comprises a plurality of second region pixels 122, the boundary 114 of the shaped display area 112 is the boundary of the display area of the entire display panel 100.
If the second area pixels 122 are identical to the first area pixels 121 and are arranged in an array, and the second area pixels 122 are intersected with the boundary 114 of the special-shaped display area 112, a plurality of blank parts without pixels exist in the special-shaped display area 112, formed sawteeth are large, and a sawteeth feeling is obvious; in the embodiment, the second region pixels 121 different from the first region pixels 121 are adopted, so that at least part of the second region pixels 122 can be completely located in the region between the boundary 114 of the special-shaped display region 112 and the first region pixel step boundary 113, and the jaggy formed by the second region pixels is small and weak.
In the structure illustrated in fig. 1 of this embodiment, the pixels are all square, and for the irregular pixels, based on the design idea of the present invention, a part of the second area pixels 122 is completely located between the boundary 114 and the first area pixel step boundary 113, which can also reduce the jaggy and reduce the jaggy.
The present application is explained below based on the structure shown in fig. 1, in fig. 2 the first region pixels 121 may be transformed or deformed such that a portion of the second region pixels 122 are located entirely between the shaped display region boundary 114 and the first region pixel step boundary 113.
Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the boundary of the second region pixel 122 close to the boundary 114 of the special-shaped display region 112 forms a second region pixel step boundary 115, and the maximum step height of the second region pixel step boundary 115 is smaller than or equal to the minimum step height of the first region pixel step boundary 113, and the step in the pixel step boundary exhibits the jaggy feeling of the display boundary, whereas the step height of the second region pixel step boundary 115 formed in the display region boundary in the present embodiment is smaller than the step height of the first region pixel step boundary 113, i.e. the jaggy feeling can be reduced to the greatest extent.
In the above description, the first area pixels 121 form the regular display area 111, and are arranged in an array in the first direction x and the second direction y, which intersect with each other, in some pixel array designs, the first direction x and the second direction y are perpendicular to each other, and in other pixel array designs, the first direction x and the second direction y may not be perpendicular to each other, which is not limited in this application. For convenience of description, in the embodiment shown in fig. 2, x and y are perpendicular.
In the special-shaped display area 112, the second area pixels 122 are required to conform to the boundary 114 of the special-shaped display area 112, so that the adjacent second area pixels 122 arranged in the first direction x or the second direction y are arranged in a staggered manner, and the staggered arrangement of the second area pixels 122 is required to be arranged along the boundary 114 of the special-shaped display area 112, so that the second area pixels 122 can be ensured to be positioned between the boundary 114 and the first area pixel step boundary 113 as much as possible, and the jaggy feeling is reduced as much as possible.
Specifically, the first area pixels 121 and the second area pixels 122 each include sub-pixels, and are produced in units of sub-pixels, so in order to enable the second area pixels 122 to be located completely within the boundary 114, it is necessary to enable the second area pixels 122 to be shortened in the first direction x or the second direction y, which is embodied in the display panel 100, that is, the pixel size of the sub-pixels of the second area pixels 122 in the first direction x or the second direction y is smaller than the pixel size of the sub-pixels of the same color of the first area pixels 121 in the same direction, and in the structure of the embodiment shown in fig. 2, that is, the pixel size in the first direction x has the above size relationship. If the first area pixels 121 are disposed on the boundary 114, the first area pixels 121 may extend out of the boundary 114 too much in the first direction x or the second direction y, and then may be exposed too much and discarded, resulting in a problem that the step boundary formed by the first area pixels 121 has a large jaggy feeling; thus, the second area pixels 122 are used, which have a reduced pixel size in the first direction x or the second direction y compared to the first area pixels 121, thereby ensuring that more pixels remain within the boundary 114. In the display panel with sub-pixels as units, the sub-pixels can be changed, and in the same principle, the pixel size of the sub-pixels of the second area of pixels 122 in the first direction x or the second direction y is smaller than the pixel size of the sub-pixels of the same color in the first area of pixels 121 in the same direction, so that the second area of pixels 122 can be located in the boundary 114 as much as possible.
In the structure of the embodiment shown in fig. 1, the pixels 121 in the first area are arranged horizontally, and correspondingly, the pixels in the first area may also be arranged vertically, please refer to fig. 2, and fig. 2 is another structural schematic diagram of the embodiment of the display panel shown in fig. 1. Fig. 1 is the same as fig. 2 in design idea, except that the pixel units in fig. 1 are arranged horizontally, and the pixel units in fig. 2 are arranged vertically. In fig. 2, the pixel size of the sub-pixels of the second area pixels 122 in the second direction y is smaller than the pixel size of the sub-pixels of the same color of the first area pixels 121 in the same direction y.
Further, in the present embodiment, along the boundary 114 of the special-shaped display area 112, the first area pixels 121 and the second area pixels 122 may be disposed at intervals, for example, one or more first area pixels 121 are disposed at intervals between every two second area pixels 132, and the specific number of the first area pixels 121 that are disposed at intervals may be determined according to the radian of the boundary 114. In this embodiment, one first area pixel 121 is disposed between every two second area pixels 132.
For the strip-shaped pixels 121 in the first area and the strip-shaped pixels 122 in the second area, the ratio of the pixel size of any sub-pixel in the first area 121 to the pixel size of a sub-pixel with the same color in the second area of the pixels 122 in the first direction x or the second direction y is less than or equal to 4:1 and greater than 1:1, i.e. P is greater than or equal to 4:1 and less than or equal to P1:P2Is less than 1: 1. If the ratio is too large or too small, the difference between the second area pixels 122 and the first area pixels 121 is too large, which may cause a problem of non-uniform display. Further, for manufacturing convenience and to ensure uniformity of color representation of each pixel, the opening areas of the same color sub-pixels in the first area pixels 121 and the second area pixels 122 are the same.
Specifically, as shown in fig. 3, fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of a pixel structure of the display panel shown in fig. 1 according to an embodiment. The first area pixels 121 and the second area pixels 122 each include a first sub-pixel 123, a second sub-pixel 124, and a third sub-pixel 125, which are different color sub-pixels. The sub-pixels of different colors have different lifetimes, and thus the opening areas between the sub-pixels of different colors are different.
In this embodiment, the opening area of the first sub-pixel 123 is larger than the opening areas of the second sub-pixel 124 and the third sub-pixel 125. The opening area of the second subpixel 124 is greater than or equal to the opening area of the third subpixel 125. For example, the opening area of the first subpixel 123 may be twice that of the second subpixel 124, and the opening area of the second subpixel 124 may be equal to that of the third subpixel 125.
Referring specifically to fig. 4, fig. 4 is a schematic diagram illustrating dimensional labels of sub-pixels in the pixel unit shown in fig. 3; the second sub-pixel 124 and the third sub-pixel 125 are arranged in one direction, and the second sub-pixel 124, the third sub-pixel 125 and the first sub-pixel 123 arranged in one direction are arranged in the other direction.
The length of the pixel unit is L, and the width of the pixel unit is B; the length L of the first sub-pixel 1231Is the length L and the width B of the pixel unit1Is half the width B of the pixel unit, i.e. L1=L,B1=B/2。
The length L of the second sub-pixel 1242Is half of the length L of the pixel unit and has a width B2Is half the width B of the pixel unit, i.e. L2=L/2,B2=B/2。
Length L of third sub-pixel 1253Is half of the length L of the pixel unit and has a width B3Is half the width B of the pixel unit, i.e. L3=L/2,B3=B/2。
In other embodiments, the opening area of the second sub-pixel 124 may be larger than the opening area of the third sub-pixel 125. In general, the first sub-pixel 123 having the shortest life span and the largest opening area of the blue pixel is the blue pixel, the second sub-pixel 124 is the green pixel, and the third sub-pixel 125 having the smallest opening area is the red pixel.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 1, the second area pixel 122 has the above-mentioned pixel structure, wherein the first sub-pixel 123 faces the arc-shaped edge. Since the second area pixels 122 may partially intersect the boundary 114, that is, the second area pixels 122 are only partially used for realizing the display of the display area, the more kinds of sub-pixels in the display area are, the better the color richness can be ensured. Therefore, the second area pixels 122 are arranged to make the first sub-pixels 123 face the arc-shaped edge, so that the color of the sub-pixels in the display area can be richer.
In addition, each pixel corresponds to one driving circuit, and although the edge pixel units are not arranged in an array with the conventional pixel units, the corresponding driving circuits are arranged in an array, so that additional processes are avoided. The driving circuit may be a thin film transistor, and since the pixel unit is only directionally adjusted within a small range around the pixel unit, which has no influence on the actual display, the driving circuit may be arranged in an array. For the pixel structure with pixel sharing, the pixel unit is adjusted only in a small range around the pixel unit, so that the driving circuit does not need to be changed, and the control of the driving circuit has no great influence on the pixel structure.
The display panel of the embodiment defines a normal display area and an abnormal display area, the normal display area includes a plurality of first area pixels, the boundaries of the first area pixels form a first area pixel step boundary, a region between the abnormal display area boundary and the first area pixel step boundary includes a plurality of second area pixels, the second area pixels are used for forming the display of the abnormal display area boundary, wherein at least part of the second area pixels are all located in the abnormal display area boundary, so that the jaggy formed by the second area pixels at the abnormal display area boundary is small, and the jaggy of the corresponding display panel is weak.
The display panel can be applied to a display device, and the present application further provides a display device, please refer to fig. 5, and fig. 5 is a schematic structural diagram of an embodiment of the display device of the present application.
The display device 200 of this embodiment includes a display panel 21, and the display panel 21 may be the display panel 100 in the above embodiment, which is not described in detail again. In this embodiment, the display panel 21 is an OLED display panel, and other display panels, such as an LCD and an LED, can also be designed correspondingly based on the design idea of the present application. The display device 200 may be a display screen of a smart watch or smart glasses, or may be an electronic device capable of displaying, such as a mobile phone, a computer, a tablet, a television, etc., whose display edge is arc-shaped.
The display panel in the display device of the embodiment is provided with the second area pixels on the special-shaped display area boundary, so that part of the second area pixels can be completely positioned in the display area, and therefore, sawteeth formed by the second area pixels close to the boundary are small, the sawteeth effect of the edge of the display area is weakened, and the display device has a good display effect.
The above description is only for the purpose of illustrating embodiments of the present application and is not intended to limit the scope of the present application, and all modifications of equivalent structures and equivalent processes, which are made by the contents of the specification and the drawings of the present application or are directly or indirectly applied to other related technical fields, are also included in the scope of the present application.
