Abstract
The invention discloses a bendable OLED display and a manufacturing method thereof, wherein the bendable OLED display comprises: two OLED panels; the flexible light-transmitting film is provided with two side edges which are respectively connected with one side edge of each OLED panel; and the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is attached to the flexible light-transmitting film and is electrically connected with the two OLED panels.
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a display, and more particularly, to a flexible Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display and a method for manufacturing the same.
Background
Flexible displays have become the mainstream of the future market, and taking flexible OLED displays as an example, the dynamic folding (dynamic folding) function is the key point of the subsequent development.
Taking a foldable (convertible) mobile phone as an example, due to the difference between the inner diameter and the outer diameter when the display is bent, the OLED panel (panel) on the inner diameter surface is extruded and protruded in the bending area, and the bending radius is too small, which causes the stress to be too concentrated, and is easy to break or generate a wrinkle phenomenon, resulting in product damage.
Therefore, the prior art has defects and needs to be improved urgently.
Disclosure of Invention
In view of the above, the present invention provides a bendable OLED display and a method for manufacturing the same, so as to solve the problem that the OLED display is easy to break or wrinkle after being bent in the prior art.
An aspect of the present invention provides a bendable OLED display, including: two OLED panels; the flexible light-transmitting film is provided with two side edges which are respectively connected with one side edge of each OLED panel; and the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is attached to the flexible light-transmitting film and is electrically connected with the two OLED panels.
In an embodiment of the invention, two side edges of the flexible micro led panel are respectively connected to the side edges of each OLED panel.
In an embodiment of the invention, the flexible light-transmitting film is made of polyimide or colorless polyimide.
In an embodiment of the invention, the flexible light-transmitting film and the flexible micro led panel are configured to bend so that the two OLED panels are parallel to each other.
In an embodiment of the invention, the two OLED panels respectively have a first display area and a second display area, the flexible micro led panel has a third display area, and the third display area, the first display area and the second display area together form a bendable display area.
Another aspect of the present invention provides a method for manufacturing a bendable OLED display, including the steps of: preparing two OLED panels; respectively connecting two side edges of a flexible light-transmitting film to one side edge of each OLED panel; attaching a flexible micro light emitting diode panel to the flexible light transmitting film; and electrically connecting the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel with the two OLED panels.
In an embodiment of the invention, the flexible light-transmitting film and the flexible micro-led panel are bent so that the two OLED panels are parallel to each other.
In an embodiment of the invention, two side edges of the flexible micro led panel are respectively connected to the side edges of each OLED panel.
In an embodiment of the invention, the flexible light-transmitting film is made of polyimide or colorless polyimide.
In an embodiment of the invention, the two OLED panels respectively have a first display area and a second display area, the flexible micro led panel has a third display area, and the third display area, the first display area and the second display area together form a bendable display area.
Compared with the prior art, the bendable OLED display and the manufacturing method thereof utilize the flexible light-transmitting film as the bending area of the OLED display, the bending area has no stress concentration condition, and the phenomena that the existing product is extruded and protrudes in the bending area, and the stress is too concentrated due to too small bending radius, the product is easy to break or generate wrinkles and the like can be improved; moreover, the bendable OLED display can naturally expand the appearance, and realizes the functions of bending and folding without wrinkles so as to ensure the normal bending and display functions of the OLED display.

Detailed Description
The following description of the embodiments refers to the accompanying drawings for illustrating the specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. Furthermore, directional phrases used herein, such as, for example, upper, lower, top, bottom, front, rear, left, right, inner, outer, lateral, peripheral, central, horizontal, lateral, vertical, longitudinal, axial, radial, uppermost or lowermost, etc., refer only to the orientation of the attached drawings. Accordingly, the directional terms used are used for explanation and understanding of the present invention, and are not used for limiting the present invention.
Referring to fig. 1 and 2, an aspect of the invention provides a foldable OLED display including two OLED panels 1a and 1b, a flexible transparent film 2 and a flexible Micro light emitting diode (Micro LED) panel 3. The two side edges 21 and 22 of the flexible light-transmitting film 2 can be respectively connected with one side edge 11 of each OLED panel 1a and 1b, so that the bending performance of a bending area is improved, and the whole bending effect is not influenced. The flexible micro light emitting diode panel 3 is attached to the flexible light transmitting film 2, and the flexible micro light emitting diode panel 3 is electrically connected to the two OLED panels 1a and 1b, for example: the two OLED panels 1a and 1b are electrically connected to the flexible micro led panel 3 through a connection line, so as to connect the display area between the two OLED panels 1a and 1 b. The following illustrates embodiments of the bendable OLED display, but not limited thereto.
For example, as shown in fig. 2 and fig. 3, a surface of each of the two OLED panels 1a and 1b may have a first display area a1 and a second display area a2 for displaying images, and the areas of the first display area a1 and the second display area a2 may be the same or different; the flexible light-transmitting film 2 may be made of a transparent bending-resistant material, for example: polyimide (PI), or Colorless Polyimide (CPI), etc., in order to increase the number of times the product is bent.
In one embodiment, as shown in fig. 2 and 3, two sides 31, 32 of the flexible micro led panel 3 can be respectively connected to the side edge 11 of each OLED panel 1a, 1 b; the bonding area of the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel 3 and the flexible light-transmitting film 2 can be equal to the area of the flexible light-transmitting film 2 facing to one surface of the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel 3, so that seamless connection of the bendable display area is facilitated.
For example, as shown in fig. 2, a surface of the flexible micro led panel 3 may have a third display area a3 for displaying images, such as: the third display area A3 and the first and second display areas a1 and a2 may face in the same direction, for example: which is directed upwards in fig. 2.
In one embodiment, as shown in fig. 3, the flexible light-transmitting film 2 and the flexible micro led panel 3 can be configured to bend so that the two OLED panels 1a and 1b are parallel to each other, for example: the bent flexible light-transmitting film 2 forms an inner diameter surface between the two OLED panels 1a and 1b, and the bent flexible micro-led panel 3 forms an outer diameter surface between the two OLED panels 1a and 1b, so that the third display area A3, the first display area a1, and the second display area a2 can jointly form a bendable display area a (as shown in fig. 2), for example: the first display area a1 and the second display area a2 located in the unbent area and the third display area A3 located in the bent area can communicate information, so as to ensure the pictures of the bendable display area a to be consistent. Wherein, the flexible light-transmitting film 2 can provide proper protection effect for the flexible micro-light-emitting diode panel 3 besides providing connection effect for the two OLED panels 1a and 1 b.
It should be understood that the direction in which the flexible micro led panel 3 and the flexible light-transmitting film 2 can be bent should not be limited, for example: the bending directions of the flexible micro light emitting diode panel 3 and the flexible light transmitting film 2 may also be opposite to the bending direction shown in fig. 3, so that the bent flexible light transmitting film forms the outer diameter surface between the two OLED panels, the bent flexible micro light emitting diode panel forms the inner diameter surface between the two OLED panels, and the third display area, the first display area and the second display area may jointly form a bendable display area with different bending forms, so as to be suitable for different bending display applications, for example: can be arranged on a bendable mobile phone and the like.
In one embodiment, as shown in fig. 2, a total thickness T2 of the flexible light-transmitting film 2 and the flexible micro led panel 3 may be less than or equal to a thickness T1 of each OLED panel 1a, 1 b. Therefore, the whole thickness of the bendable OLED display can be uniform.
Therefore, the flexible light-transmitting film with flexibility is used as the bending part in the embodiment of the invention, the OLED panel can be prevented from being extruded and protruding at the bending part, if the bending radius is too small, the OLED panel can not be broken or wrinkled, and the product can be prevented from being damaged; meanwhile, the flexible light-transmitting film is attached to the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel and electrically connected with the two OLED panels, so that the bendable display area can be formed.
Referring to fig. 1 to 3, another aspect of the present invention provides a method for manufacturing a bendable OLED display, which includes: preparing two OLED panels 1a, 1b (shown in fig. 1); attaching two sides 21, 22 of a flexible light transmissive film 2 to a side edge 11 of each OLED panel 1a, 1b (shown in fig. 1); attaching a flexible micro led panel 3 to the flexible transparent film 2 (as shown in fig. 2); and electrically connecting the flexible micro led panel 3 to the two OLED panels 1a and 1b (as shown in fig. 2).
In an embodiment, the flexible transparent film 2 may be made of polyimide or colorless polyimide, so as to improve the bending performance of the bending region without affecting the overall bending effect.
In an embodiment, after electrically connecting the flexible micro led panel 3 to the two OLED panels 1a and 1b, the method further includes: bending the flexible light-transmitting film 2 and the flexible micro-led panel 3 to make the two OLED panels 1a and 1b parallel to each other.
In an embodiment, as shown in fig. 2 and fig. 3, each of the OLED panels 1a and 1b may have a first display area a1 and a second display area a2, respectively, the flexible micro led panel 3 has a third display area A3, and the third display area, the first display area a1 and the second display area a2 may form a foldable display area together.
Therefore, the two OLED panels can be connected together through the flexible light-transmitting film, the flexible light-transmitting film is used as a bending area of the OLED display, and the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel can be used under the flexible light-transmitting film to compensate the picture loss caused by the separation of the two OLED panels, so that the two OLED panels are not subjected to repeated force in the bending process, and the integral display function of the OLED display is ensured.
Compared with the prior art, the bendable OLED display and the manufacturing method thereof utilize the flexible light-transmitting film as the bending area of the OLED display, the bending area has no stress concentration, and the phenomena that the existing product is extruded and protrudes in the bending area, and the stress is too concentrated due to too small bending radius, the product is easy to break or wrinkle and the like can be improved; moreover, the bendable OLED display can naturally expand the appearance, and realizes the functions of bending and folding without wrinkles so as to ensure the normal bending and display functions of the OLED display.
The present invention has been described in relation to the above embodiments, which are only exemplary of the implementation of the present invention. It must be noted that the disclosed embodiments do not limit the scope of the invention. Rather, modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the claims are included within the scope of the invention.
Claims (8)
1. A bendable OLED display is characterized in that: the method comprises the following steps:
two OLED panels; the flexible light-transmitting film is provided with two side edges which are respectively connected with one side edge of each OLED panel, and the flexible light-transmitting film is made of colorless polyimide; and
the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is attached to the flexible light-transmitting film, the total thickness of the flexible light-transmitting film and the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is smaller than the thickness of each OLED panel, and the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is electrically connected with the two OLED panels.
2. The bendable OLED display of claim 1, wherein: and two side edges of the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel are respectively connected with the side edge of each OLED panel.
3. The bendable OLED display of claim 1, wherein: the flexible light-transmitting film and the flexible micro-light emitting diode panel are configured to bend so that the two OLED panels are parallel to each other.
4. The bendable OLED display of claim 1, wherein: the two OLED panels are respectively provided with a first display area and a second display area, the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is provided with a third display area, and the third display area, the first display area and the second display area jointly form a bendable display area.
5. A method for manufacturing a bendable OLED display is characterized in that: the method comprises the following steps:
preparing two OLED panels;
respectively connecting two side edges of a flexible light-transmitting film to one side edge of each OLED panel, wherein the flexible light-transmitting film is made of colorless polyimide;
attaching a flexible micro light-emitting diode panel to the flexible light-transmitting film, wherein the total thickness of the flexible light-transmitting film and the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is smaller than that of each OLED panel; and
and electrically connecting the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel with the two OLED panels.
6. The method of manufacturing a bendable OLED display of claim 5, wherein: and bending the flexible light-transmitting film and the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel to enable the two OLED panels to be parallel to each other.
7. The method of manufacturing a bendable OLED display of claim 5, wherein: and two side edges of the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel are respectively connected with the side edge of each OLED panel.
8. The method of manufacturing a bendable OLED display of claim 5, wherein: the flexible micro light-emitting diode panel is provided with a third display area, and the third display area, the first display area and the second display area jointly form a bendable display area.
