In summary, the embodiment of the present invention provides a modified DHCP protocol flow method based on a standard DHCP protocol flow, and realizes a function of maintaining a normal network service of a home gateway under an abnormal condition of a DHCP server of an operator. When the DHCP server of the operator is abnormal and the DHCP message request of the home gateway cannot be responded, the home gateway does not release all the existing network resources (including IP and gateway information) according to the requirement of a DHCP protocol, but reserves the current network resource information; and meanwhile, continuously sending a DISCOVER request message of the DHCP protocol to the outside according to the requirements of the standard DHCP protocol. Under the condition that the DHCP server normally responds, the home gateway can still update the network resource information in the home gateway according to the requirement of the DHCP server, which meets the requirement of a standard DCHP protocol; when the DHCP server is abnormal and the DHCP request message of the home gateway cannot be responded, the home gateway still sends a proper DISCOVER request according to the DHCP protocol requirement, and meanwhile, continues to hold the original network resource. After the DHCP server of the operator recovers abnormally, the DHCP server of the operator can reply the request message of the home gateway normally, and the home gateway can update the network resource of the home gateway according to the information provided by the DHCP server, and at the moment, the home gateway user can still use the network service normally. In the two processes, in the time period from the abnormality of the DHCP server of the operator to the recovery, the home gateway user can still use the network service normally through the original network resource information, and the network abnormality phenomenon cannot be perceived. The embodiment of the invention can improve the service quality of a broadband operator and the satisfaction degree of a home gateway user in the abnormal scene.

1.2 the home gateway explicitly requests the resource by using the available network resource information provided by the DHCP server; the DHCP server confirms whether the home gateway can use the resource or not according to the actual network resource condition;
1.3 after receiving the clear available reply of the DHCP server to the request resource, the home gateway sets the relevant network resource information of the home gateway, wherein the information comprises IP address, default gateway and DNS server address.
After the above process is finished, the home gateway user can use the normal network service.
Stage 2: the DHCP server is abnormal after running for a period of time and can not reply the DHCP message request of the home gateway.
At this stage, the home gateway will use the modified DHCP protocol flow, as shown in fig. 4. At this time:
2.1 after T1 time out (1/2T), the home gateway will send unicast request information according to the DHCP protocol request, confirming whether the existing network resources can be used further. At this point, the DHCP server will not respond.
2.2 after T2 time out (7/8T), the home gateway will send the request information of broadcast according to the DHCP protocol requirement, confirm whether it can still use the existing network resources. At this point, the DHCP server will not respond.
2.3 after T is overtime, if according to the requirement of DHCP protocol, it will need to release the existing network resource; in this embodiment, the existing network resources are reserved, and the Discover message required by the DHCP protocol is sent at the same time.

Stage 3: after the DHCP server is recovered abnormally, the DHCP message request of the home gateway can be replied normally.
