Description

Storage access method and device of virtual machine
Technical Field
The present application relates to the field of storage technologies, and in particular, to a storage access method and apparatus for a virtual machine.
Background
In a virtualized environment, the disks that a virtual machine can use are generally divided into two types: one is a virtual disk and the other is a network disk. At present, when a virtual machine accesses a virtual disk each time, a communication connection needs to be established with a server through a virtual network card, and then the server accesses the corresponding virtual disk. The access process can only realize the access to the virtual disk by the aid of the server, the access path is long, and more resources of the server need to be occupied. In order to shorten the access path and reduce the occupation of server resources, the virtual machine can directly log in the storage service of the network disk so as to realize the access to the network disk. Specifically, the virtual machine may log in a Storage service of the Network disk through a Storage Area Network (SAN) at a BIOS start stage, and then access the Network disk to start the BIOS from the Network disk.
However, the above-mentioned way of accessing the network disk by the virtual machine is affected by the technical specification of the BIOS, and the network storage protocol that can be supported is limited, and is only applicable to protocols such as Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), Fibre Channel (FC), and the like, and is not applicable to some new network storage technologies, and the extensibility is poor.

In this embodiment of the application, the server may log in a storage service of a network disk allocated to the virtual machine and obtain an identifier of the network disk, and then create a virtual disk with the identifier of the network disk for the virtual machine based on the network disk, so that the virtual machine may access the virtual disk by using the server. After the virtual machine starts the operating system based on the virtual disk, the server may instruct the virtual machine to log in a connection with the network disk. Further, after the virtual machine is connected to the network disk, by recognizing that the identifier of the network disk is consistent with the identifier of the previously accessed virtual disk, it can be determined that the storage access path accessing the same storage space may be an access path of the virtual disk or an access path of the network disk, and further, the access path of the virtual disk may be used as a main path and the access path of the network disk may be used as a standby path. Then, after the server logs out the storage service of the network disk, the virtual machine cannot normally access the virtual disk by means of the server, the access path of the virtual disk fails, and then the virtual machine can switch the access path of the network disk to the main path, so that the virtual machine can directly access the network disk.
According to the scheme, a small amount of server resources can be occupied to access the virtual disk only in the starting stage of the virtual machine, after the virtual machine is started, the virtual machine can directly log in the storage service of the network disk, the access path of the virtual disk and the access path of the network disk form a main path and a standby path, after the server logs out the storage service of the network disk, the virtual machine cannot normally access the virtual disk by means of the server, and then the virtual machine can take the access path of the network disk as the main path after recognizing that the access path of the virtual disk fails, so that the purpose of directly accessing the network disk is achieved without occupying the server resources.
And because the mode of the virtual machine logging in the storage service of the network disk is performed after the virtual machine successfully starts the operating system, compared with the process of logging in the storage service of the network disk through an SAN (storage area network) network in the process of starting the operating system of the virtual machine based on a specific network storage protocol in the prior art, the scheme can be independent of the technical specification of the operating system of the virtual machine and is not limited by several specific network protocols, and has the advantages of wide application range and good expandability.

The components of the embodiments of the present application, generally described and illustrated in the figures herein, can be arranged and designed in a wide variety of different configurations. Thus, the following detailed description of the embodiments of the present application, presented in the accompanying drawings, is not intended to limit the scope of the claimed application, but is merely representative of selected embodiments of the application. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments of the present application without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present application.
In a virtualized environment, there are two types of disks that can be used by a virtual machine, one is a virtual disk, and the other is a network disk. Where a virtual disk may be understood as a file or block device on a file system created on a server or other storage device. A network disk may be understood as a storage medium allocated for a virtual machine in a remote storage device of a SAN deployment. The virtual disk of the virtual machine is generally used as a system disk, and an operating system of the virtual machine, relevant parameters for running the operating system, and the like are generally stored on the system disk. The network disk of the virtual machine is usually used as a data disk of the virtual machine, and various application data of the virtual machine, for example, various application data generated by an application program on the virtual machine, may be usually stored on the data disk.
Because the virtual machine needs to rely on the server each time it accesses the virtual disk, the problems of longer access path, slower access speed and more occupation of server resources are caused. In order to overcome the above problems, it is proposed that a network disk can be used as both a system disk and a data disk, thereby enabling a virtual machine to directly access the network disk. However, in the existing implementation method, in the starting process of the virtual machine, the storage service of the network disk is logged in through the SAN, and then the virtual machine can only access the network disk and start the BIOS from the network disk, but because the network storage protocol that can be supported by this access method is limited, it is difficult to apply to some new network storage technologies, so that the application range is limited and the extensibility is not good.
In view of the above situation, the present application provides a storage access method and apparatus for a virtual machine, which can enable the virtual machine to directly access a network disk. First, a schematic diagram of a system architecture to which the embodiments of the present application are applicable is described. Referring to fig. 1, the system includes a server, a virtual machine created on the server, and a storage device. The storage device may be configured in a cloud, a part of storage space is pre-partitioned in the storage device and provided for the virtual machine to use, the partitioned part of storage space serves as a network disk of the virtual machine, and the part of storage space may be identified by a logical unit number (lun).
According to the technical scheme, the server can log in the storage service of the network disk and create the virtual disk for the virtual machine based on the network disk. When the virtual machine is in the starting stage, the virtual disk can be accessed through the server to start the operating system. Because the virtual disk is created on the network disk, the process of accessing the virtual disk by the virtual machine through the server is equivalent to accessing the network disk by the virtual machine through the virtual disk. Further, after the virtual machine starts the operating system, the virtual machine may log in the storage service of the network disk under the instruction of the server, and then, by starting the multipath service, the access path of the virtual disk and the access path of the network disk form a master/standby path, so that the virtual machine can simultaneously support two modes of accessing the virtual disk and accessing the network disk. Further, after the multi-path service is started, the virtual machine can instruct the server to unload the virtual disk, so that a path for accessing the virtual disk in the multi-path service is cut off, an access path of the network disk is switched to a main path, and the purpose that the virtual machine accesses the network disk is finally achieved.
The following describes a storage access method of a virtual machine provided in the present application in detail with reference to specific embodiments.
Referring to fig. 2, a schematic flow chart of a storage access method of a virtual machine according to an embodiment of the present application is shown, where the schematic flow chart describes a specific interaction flow between a server and the virtual machine, so as to implement that the virtual machine directly accesses a network disk. The specific interaction process is as follows:
step 201, the server logs in the storage service of the network disk allocated for the virtual machine and acquires the identifier of the network disk.
In a specific implementation, the server may obtain configuration parameters of a network disk allocated to the virtual machine, where the configuration parameters are, for example, a name of the network disk, an IP address of the network disk, and the like. The obtaining mode is, for example, receiving an instruction carrying configuration parameters and the like input by other equipment or a user. The server may then log in to the storage service of the network disk based on the IP address of the network disk and the name of the network disk, and after logging in to the storage service of the network disk, identify the identifier of the network disk. The identifier of the network disk is, for example, a world wide identifier (wwid).
Step 202, the server creates a virtual disk with an identifier of the network disk based on the network disk.
In specific implementation, when the server creates a virtual disk for the virtual machine based on the network disk, the type, the driver, the source path, and the like of the virtual disk may be configured. The type of the virtual disk can be a file or a block device; the drivers of the virtual machines may be configured according to a particular virtualization environment; the source path of the virtual machine may be generated based on the name of the network disk, the IP address, and the logical unit number lun corresponding to the storage space.
In a possible implementation manner, during the process of creating the virtual disk, the server may allocate a temporary identifier to the virtual disk, where the allocation of the temporary identifier may be random or according to a preset rule. After the virtual disk with the temporary identifier is created, since the source path of the virtual disk actually points to the storage space corresponding to the network disk, that is, the virtual disk and the network disk occupy the same storage space, the temporary identifier of the virtual disk may be modified to the identifier of the network disk so as to associate the virtual disk with the network disk.
In another possible embodiment, after the server identifies the identifier of the network disk, since the network disk and the virtual disk occupy the same storage space, the identifier of the created virtual disk may be directly configured as the identifier of the network disk, so as to associate the virtual disk with the network disk.
Step 203, the virtual machine starts the operating system based on the created virtual disk.
In the embodiment of the application, after the server creates the virtual disk for the virtual machine, the virtual machine can sense that the virtual disk can be used, so that the virtual machine can start the operating system by accessing the virtual disk. The access process needs the participation of a server, specifically, the server accesses a virtual disk on a network disk based on the storage service of the network disk, and then the server notifies the virtual machine of an operating system read from the virtual disk, so that the virtual machine starts the operating system.
And step 204, after the server determines that the virtual machine starts the operating system, indicating the virtual machine to log in the storage service of the network disk.
In a specific implementation, after the virtual machine successfully starts the operating system, a notification message that the virtual machine has been started may be sent to the server, and after receiving the notification message, the server may determine that the virtual machine is started. Further, the server may issue configuration parameters of the network disk to the virtual machine, including, for example, a name, an IP address, and the like of the network disk, to instruct the virtual machine to log in the storage service of the network disk.
Step 205, after the virtual machine logs in the storage service of the network disk, determining that the storage access path of the virtual machine includes an access path of the network disk and an access path of the virtual disk based on the identifier shared by the network disk and the virtual disk.
In a specific implementation, the virtual machine may log in the storage service of the network disk based on the IP address of the network disk and the name of the network disk. The virtual machine can recognize the identifier of the network disk after successfully logging in the storage service of the network disk, and can also recognize the identifier of the virtual disk when the virtual machine accesses the virtual disk before. And because sharing the same identifier actually represents that the network disk and the virtual disk share the same storage space, the virtual machine can determine that the storage access path for the same storage space includes two access paths, one is an access path of the virtual disk, and the other is an access path of the network disk.
In this embodiment, the virtual machine may initiate a multi-path service to allow the use of the two storage access paths. The virtual machine has accessed the virtual disk before, so the access path of the virtual disk can be used as a main path, and the virtual machine has not accessed the network disk, so the access path of the network disk is used as a standby path. And when the virtual machine starts the multi-path service, the failure policy can be configured to be highly available, so that when one of the two storage access paths forming the main/standby path fails, the storage access path can be switched to the normal storage access path.
In the embodiment of the application, after the virtual machine successfully starts the multi-path service and confirms that the storage access path directly accessing the network disk is available, an unloading instruction can be sent to the server to instruct the server to unload the network disk. The aim of unloading the network disk is to enable the server to normally log in the storage service of the network disk, because the virtual machine needs to be connected with the network disk by the server to further access the virtual disk when accessing the virtual disk, if the server cannot normally log in the storage service of the network disk, the virtual machine cannot normally access the virtual disk, and further the virtual machine can determine that the access path of the virtual disk fails, and then perform primary and standby path switching, and switch the storage access path to the access path of the network disk.
Step 206, the server logs out the storage service of the network disk.
In specific implementation, after receiving an offload instruction sent by a virtual machine, a server may search for configuration parameters of a network disk corresponding to the virtual machine, and then log out a storage service of the network disk based on an IP address of the network disk and a name of the network disk.
Step 207, after the virtual machine detects that the server logs out the storage service of the network disk, the access path of the network disk is used as a main path.
Because the server logs out the storage service of the network disk, the path depending on the server to access the virtual disk cannot be used, the virtual machine can actively switch the main path and the standby path after detecting that the access path of the virtual disk cannot be used, the access path of the network disk is used as the main path, and the subsequent virtual machine can directly use the access path of the network disk to communicate with the network disk.
In addition, in a possible implementation, after logging out the storage service of the network disk, the server may delete the configuration information about the virtual disk since the virtual disk cannot be accessed. The configuration information of the virtual disk is, for example, the name, drive, source path, and other parameters of the virtual disk.
In this embodiment, the server may obtain an identifier of a network disk allocated to the virtual machine, and create a virtual disk having the identifier of the network disk for the virtual machine based on the network disk, so that the virtual machine may access the virtual disk by using the server. After the virtual machine starts the operating system based on the virtual disk, the server may instruct the virtual machine to log into the storage service of the network disk. Further, after logging in the storage service of the network disk, the virtual machine recognizes that the identifier of the network disk is consistent with the identifier of the previously accessed virtual disk, and can determine that the storage access path accessing the same storage space may be an access path of the virtual disk or an access path of the network disk, and further, the access path of the virtual disk may be used as a main path and the access path of the network disk may be used as a standby path. Then, the server may log out the storage service of the network disk so as to cut off an access path of the virtual disk, and after detecting that the server logs out the storage service of the network disk, the virtual machine may use the access path of the network disk as a main path, and may subsequently implement that the virtual machine directly accesses the network disk.
Based on the above manner, a small amount of server resources can be occupied to access the virtual disk only in the virtual machine starting stage, after the virtual machine is started, the virtual machine can directly log in the storage service of the network disk, so that the access path of the virtual disk and the access path of the network disk form a main standby path, and after the server logs out the storage service of the network disk, the virtual machine cannot normally access the virtual disk by means of the server, and then after the virtual machine recognizes that the access path of the virtual disk fails, the access path of the network disk can be used as a main path, so that the purpose of directly accessing the network disk can be achieved without occupying server resources. And because the starting process of the virtual machine is the virtual disk accessed by the server, compared with the process of directly accessing the network disk based on a specific network storage protocol in the prior art, the scheme can not be limited by a plurality of specific network protocols any more, the application range is wider, and the expandability is better.
In order to better explain the configuration process of the present application, a specific implementation scenario is described below to describe in detail the storage access method of the virtual machine described above in the present application.
In this implementation scenario, the interaction process between the server and the virtual machine can be abstracted as the interaction between two logical units, the host processing module and the client proxy processing module. The host processing module runs on the server and can realize the functions of logging in or logging out the storage service of the network disk by the server, creating a virtual disk for the virtual machine, unloading the virtual disk and the like; the client proxy processing module runs on the virtual machine and can detect functions of starting the virtual machine, logging in or logging out the storage service of the network disk by the virtual machine, starting multipath service and the like. The host processing module and the client agent processing module can interact with each other through a specific serial port, for example, a virtio serial port.
The following is the interaction process of the host processing module and the client agent processing module:
(1) and the host processing module logs in the storage service of the network disk and adds a virtual disk to the virtual machine.
Step 1, a host processing module receives configuration parameters of a network disk distributed for a virtual machine.
The configuration parameters include the name "vmA" of the virtual machine, the name "iqn.abcd.1234: lun 1" of the network disk, and the IP address "192.168.1.1" of the network disk.
And step 2, the host processing module logs in the storage service of the network disk by using the initiaor tool and the name and the IP address of the network disk.
Specifically, the host processing module may input a name and an IP address of the network disk by using an initiaor tool, and further input a "login" instruction, so as to log in the storage service of the network disk, and after logging in the storage service of the network disk, it may recognize that the wwid of the network disk is "1234".
And 3, calling libvirt by the host processing module to add a virtual disk to the virtual machine.
Specifically, the drive of the virtual disk is, for example, virtio, the type of the virtual disk is a block device, and the source path of the virtual disk is "/dev/disk/by-path/ip-192.168.1.1: iqn.abcd.1234: lun 1". In addition, the host processing module can also generate a wwid as "virtual-7890" for the virtual disk through a quick simulator (qemu) module.
The libvirt is an Application Programming Interface (API) for managing the open source of the virtualization platform. Specific usage is found in the prior art and will not be described here.
And step 4, the host processing module issues a qemu module and modifies wwid of the virtual disk.
Specifically, the wwid of the virtual disk conforming to the source path on the server can be searched according to the source path "/dev/disk/by-path/ip-192.168.1.1: iqn.abcd.1234: lun 1" of the disk, and the found wwid of the virtual disk is modified from "virtio-7890" to "1234".
(2) And starting a multipath service process after the virtual machine is started and logs in the storage service of the network disk.
Step 5, the client agent process module monitors the virtual machine startup.
And 6, after the virtual machine starts the operating system based on the virtual disk, the client agent processing module sends a notification message indicating that the virtual machine is started to the server.
And 7, after receiving the notification message indicating that the virtual machine is started, the host processing module searches the name and the IP address of the network disk according to the virtual machine and then notifies the virtual machine of the searched name and IP address of the network disk.
The network disk is named as iqn.abcd.1234: lun1, and the IP address is 192.168.1.1.
And step 8, the client agent processing module logs in the storage service of the network disk by using the initiaor tool and the name and the IP address of the network disk.
Specifically, the client agent module may use an initiaor tool to input the name and IP address of the network disk, and further input a "login" command to log in the storage service of the network disk. After a network disk is successfully connected, a wwid of the network disk can be identified as "1234".
And step 9, the client agent processing module can issue the multipath configuration parameters to a GuestOS module in the virtual machine.
Wherein the Guest OS module can be understood as an operating system module running on the virtual machine. The multipath configuration parameters issued by the client agent processing module to the guest os module may include configuration parameters that allow the local disk to configure multipath and configuration parameters that make the failure policy highly available. Since the wwids of the network disk and the virtual disk are the same, the virtual machine may allow the access path of the virtual disk and the access path of the network disk to be used.
Step 10, the client agent processing module initiates the multipath service.
After the multi-path service is started, because the wwid of the network disk is the same as that of the virtual disk, the virtual machine can allow the access path of the virtual disk and the access path of the network disk to be used, and because the access path used by the virtual machine when the operating system is started is the access path of the virtual disk, the virtual machine can use the access path of the virtual disk as a main path and the access path of the network disk as a standby path.
(3) And the host processing module unloads and deletes the network disk.
And step 11, the client agent processing module sends an unloading instruction for unloading the virtual disk to the host processing module.
And step 12, after the host processing module receives the unloading instruction, searching the configuration parameters of the network disk corresponding to the virtual machine, and logging out the storage service of the network disk by using an initiaor tool and the name and IP address of the network disk.
Specifically, the host processing module may use an initiaor tool to input the name and the IP address of the network disk, and further input a "logout" instruction, to implement the storage service of logging out the network disk.
And step 13, the client agent processing module takes the access path of the network disk as a main path.
The virtual machine can perform the main-standby switching process after recognizing that the access path of the virtual disk has a fault, and the access path of the network disk is taken as the main path.
And step 14, calling libvirt by the host processing module to delete the configuration information of the virtual disk.
The configuration information includes, for example, the name of the virtual disk, and the source path, the drive, and the like of the virtual disk.
In the embodiment of the present application, in the process of implementing that the virtual machine directly accesses the network disk, the virtual disk is accessed by the server only at the stage of starting the operating system of the virtual machine, and after the operating system is started up by the virtual machine, the virtual machine can directly log in the storage service of the network disk by using the initial tool and the IP address and name of the network disk, so that it can be seen that the storage service of the network disk is logged in by the virtual machine after the operating system has been successfully started up by the virtual machine, compared with the existing mode of logging in the storage service of the network disk by using the SAN network at the stage of BIOS start-up, the embodiment of the present application can log in the storage service of the network disk by using the initial tool without depending on the BIOS specification of the virtual machine, so that the present application has better expansibility, and can not only be applied to the present nonvolatile Memory host controller interface specification (Non-Volatile Memory architecture, NVMeoF) protocol, as well as network storage protocols that may come into existence in the future.
In addition, in order to realize that the virtual machine directly accesses the network disk, after logging in the storage service of the network disk, the virtual machine can also use the access path of the virtual disk as a main path and the access path of the network disk as a standby path by starting the multi-path service, and then instruct the server to unload the virtual disk so as to cut off the path for accessing the virtual disk in the multi-path service, so that the access path of the network disk is switched to the main path, and the subsequent virtual machine can directly access the network disk.
