Then, every time a list of non-genuine consumables is newly added as identification information of the photoconductor unit 30 and the toner cartridge TC, the new consumable list is additionally stored in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90 without being overwritten. When the photosensitive body unit 30 and the toner cartridge TC are mounted to the image forming apparatus 1 and used, the list of non-genuine consumables stored in the identification information storage area 93 is read out and used.
(2) Updating identification information
Fig. 2 is a block diagram showing information exchange between the firmware management apparatus 300 and the image formation control section 11 of the image forming apparatus 1, fig. 3 is a flowchart showing a process flow of updating the non-genuine product consumable part list when updating the firmware of the image forming apparatus 1, fig. 4 is an explanatory diagram showing an example of updating the non-genuine product consumable part management list, fig. 5 is a block diagram showing information exchange between the CRUM200 of the toner cartridge TC and the image formation control section 11 of the image forming apparatus 1, fig. 6 is a flowchart showing a process flow of updating the non-genuine product consumable part list when installing the toner cartridge TC, and fig. 9 is a block diagram showing a comparative example of the image forming apparatus 1000 connected to a communication line and the cloud server 2000 storing the non-genuine product consumable part management list.
(2.1) management List of non-genuine consumables
In the image forming apparatus 1, an image is formed by using a photoreceptor unit and a toner cartridge (hereinafter, referred to as non-genuine consumables) manufactured by a manufacturer other than the manufacturer, in addition to the photoreceptor unit and the toner cartridge (hereinafter, referred to as genuine consumables) which are examples of consumables manufactured by the manufacturer of the image forming apparatus 1.
In the image forming apparatus 1, when a non-genuine consumable product is used, conditions for forming an image are set so as to reproduce an image quality substantially equal to that when a genuine consumable product is used, or so as to prevent damage to the image forming apparatus 1 when used.
For this purpose, as shown in fig. 9, the manufacturer of the image forming apparatus can store a non-genuine consumable management list SR tabulated by serial numbers SN as identification information of non-genuine consumables in a consumable list storage area of the cloud server 2000, and the image forming apparatus 1000 connected to the cloud server 2000 via the communication line 500 can acquire the serial numbers SN of the non-genuine consumables.
When a consumable part is mounted, image forming apparatus 1000 reads identification information of the consumable part, and determines whether the mounted consumable part is a non-genuine consumable part with reference to serial number SN of non-genuine consumable part management list SR of cloud server 2000.
On the other hand, an image forming apparatus not connected to the cloud server S via the communication line 500 cannot identify a consumable part by referring to the serial number SN of the non-genuine consumable part management list SR, such as an image forming apparatus installed in a place where the connection environment of the communication line is not perfect or an image forming apparatus installed without being connected to the communication line due to a security requirement even if the connection environment is perfect.
(2.2) update of management List of non-genuine consumables
As shown in fig. 2, the image forming apparatus 1 according to the present embodiment stores a non-genuine consumable supply management list SR as identification information of the photosensitive body unit 30 and the toner cartridge TC in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90 as a rewritable storage means for additionally storing a plurality of identification information of consumable supplies.
The image formation control portion 11 includes an identification information reading portion 111 as reading means for reading identification information for confirming a consumable supply replaceably mounted in the image forming apparatus 1, and a determination portion 112 as determination means for determining whether the mounted consumable supply is a consumable supply containing identification information. When a consumable part is mounted, the serial number SN as identification information of the consumable part is read, and whether or not the mounted consumable part is a non-genuine consumable part is determined by referring to the serial number SN in the stored non-genuine consumable part management list SR.
When the firmware is downloaded via the firmware management device 300, the non-genuine consumable part management list SR stored in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90 downloads the latest non-genuine consumable part management list SR by the process shown in fig. 3, and the latest non-genuine consumable part management list SR is additionally stored without being overwritten. Here, the firmware management device 300 is a computer device that manages firmware that controls the image forming apparatus 1, and is connected to the interface 115 of the image forming control section 11 via the interface 301.
When the update of the firmware is received via the firmware management device 300 (S101), the image formation control unit 11 determines whether or not the unauthorized consumable part management list SR is attached (S102). When the non-genuine consumable part management list SR is attached (S102: yes), the attached non-genuine consumable part management list SR is acquired (S103), and the acquired non-genuine consumable part management list SR is additionally written in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90 to update the non-genuine consumable part management list SR (S104).
By this processing, as shown in an example of fig. 4, the non-genuine product consumable part management list SR of the 5 th edition to which the serial number SN as the new identification information is added to the non-genuine product consumable part management list SR of the 2 nd edition stored in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90.
Thus, the image forming apparatus 1 not connected to the communication line 500 can store the latest non-genuine consumable part management list SR in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90 and identify whether or not the mounted consumable part is a non-genuine consumable part.
[ modified examples ]
As shown in fig. 5, the latest non-genuine consumable part management list SR may be stored in the EEPROM210 of the CRUM200 of the toner cartridge TC, and when the toner cartridge TC is mounted, the latest non-genuine consumable part management list SR may be downloaded by the process shown in fig. 6 and additionally stored in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90.
In fig. 5, the communication between the image formation control unit 11 and the CRUM200 is illustrated as wired communication, but may be wireless communication.
When the mounting of the toner cartridge TC is detected (S201), the image formation control section 11 determines whether or not an unauthorized consumable part management list SR is attached (S202). When the non-genuine consumable part management list SR is attached (S202: yes), the attached non-genuine consumable part management list SR is acquired (S203), and the acquired non-genuine consumable part management list SR is additionally written in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90 to update the non-genuine consumable part management list SR (S204).
In addition, as the consumables, not only the toner cartridge TC, but also the photoconductor unit 30 can store the non-genuine consumable part management list SR in the CRUM100 of the photoconductor unit 30 in the same manner, and thus, when the photoconductor unit 30 is mounted, the non-genuine consumable part management list SR can be additionally written in the identification information storage area 93 of the storage device 90 to update the latest non-genuine consumable part management list SR.
This makes it possible to update the non-genuine consumable part management list SR stored in the image forming apparatus 1 every time a consumable part is replaced with a new one.
(3) Detection and print processing of consumables
Fig. 7 is a flowchart showing a flow of processing when a consumable is mounted in the image forming apparatus 1, and fig. 8 is a block diagram showing an example of the storage area of the CRUM 200.
Hereinafter, an image forming operation when the toner cartridge TC as an example of the consumable supplies is mounted in the image forming apparatus 1 having the non-genuine consumable supply management list SR is described.
As shown in fig. 8, the EEPROM210 of the CRUM200 of the toner cartridge TC includes a read area in which the unique information read by the image formation control unit 11 is stored, and a read/write area in which management information is read/written with the image formation control unit 11.
Examples of the read-out area include an area 211 for storing a serial number of the toner cartridge TC unique to the toner cartridge TC, an area 212 for storing color information of toner, and the like.
The read/write area includes an area 214 for storing the accumulated value information of the toner supply time, an area 215 for storing the number of printed sheets information, and the like.
When the mounting of the toner cartridge TC is detected (S301), the image formation control section 11 reads the identification information of the consumable parts stored in the CRUM200 of the toner cartridge TC (S302). Specifically, the serial number SN stored in the CRUM200 is read by the identification information reading unit 111.
Then, the determination section 112 determines whether or not the toner cartridge TC has been mounted in the image forming apparatus (S303). When it is discriminated that the toner cartridge TC is mounted in the image forming apparatus immediately before (S303: YES), the cumulative value information of the toner supply time and the number of printed sheets information as an example of the use history information are acquired (S308), and the designated printing is executed (S309). Thus, it is not necessary to reset the conditions for forming an image for the newly mounted toner cartridge TC, and a decrease in printing efficiency of the image forming apparatus 1 can be suppressed.
When the determination unit 112 determines that the toner cartridge TC has not been mounted in the image forming apparatus (S303: No), it determines whether or not the serial number SN as the identification information read by the identification information reading unit 111 matches the serial number SN of the non-genuine consumable management list SR stored in the image forming apparatus (S304).
When the read serial number SN coincides with one of the serial numbers SN of the non-genuine consumable part management list SR (S304: yes), that is, when it is discriminated that the mounted toner cartridge TC is a non-genuine product, this fact is displayed on the operation display device 80 (S305). Thereby, information that the mounted consumable part is not a genuine part can be provided to the user.
After the fact that the mounted toner cartridge TC is a non-genuine product is displayed on the operation display device 80 (S305), when a print instruction by the user is accepted (S307: yes), the accumulated value information of the toner supply time and the print number information are acquired (S308), and the designated printing is executed (S309). Thus, even when a consumable part that is not a genuine product is used, the occurrence of image quality defects and damage to the image forming apparatus 1 can be suppressed.
When the read serial number SN does not match any of the serial numbers SN in the non-genuine consumable part management list SR (S304: no), that is, when it is determined that the mounted toner cartridge TC is a new genuine product, the serial number SN stored in the image forming apparatus is updated to the read new serial number SN (S306).
When a print instruction from the user is received (YES in S307), the cumulative value information of the toner supply time and the number-of-printed-sheets information are acquired (S308), and a designated print is executed (S309). Thus, it is not necessary to reset the conditions for forming an image for the newly mounted toner cartridge TC, and a decrease in printing efficiency of the image forming apparatus 1 can be suppressed.
In addition, in the present embodiment, the case where the toner cartridge TC is mounted has been described as an example of the consumable part, but the consumable part is not limited to the toner cartridge TC.
Even when the photosensitive body unit 30 including the CRUM100 is mounted in the image forming apparatus 1 as a consumable part to be mounted, the identification information reading unit 111 reads the serial number SN stored in the CRUM100 and executes the processing flow shown in fig. 8, whereby occurrence of image quality defects and damage to the image forming apparatus 1 can be suppressed even when the photosensitive body unit 30 that is not a genuine product is used.
