Technical Field
The present invention relates to a display module and an assembling method thereof, and more particularly, to a display module having a waterproof function and an assembling method thereof.
Background
Generally, a notebook computer includes a display and a main housing, and for portable use, the display is pivotally connected to the main housing by a hinge so that the display can be opened or closed relative to the main housing. In addition, in order to transmit signals between the display and the host, two opposite ends of a portion of the cable are electrically connected to the display and the host, respectively. Therefore, the housing of the display device must be provided with an opening for the hinge shaft and the cable to pass through. As a result, moisture may enter the display through the opening in the housing, which may cause the electronic components in the display to malfunction.
In order to prevent water vapor from entering the display through the opening of the shell, the notebook computer of military specification is additionally provided with a metal cover for covering the rotating shaft of the hinge and the cable on the display shell, and then moisture is prevented from entering the display through the opening through the covering and the sealing of the metal cover.
However, the additional metal cover can prevent moisture from entering the display through the opening, but increases the thickness of the display housing. Therefore, the waterproof manner of additionally arranging the metal cover does not meet the requirement of the narrow frame of the display of the commercial notebook computer, so that the display of the notebook computer is difficult to meet the requirements of both waterproof and narrow frame.

The following examples further illustrate aspects of the present invention in detail, but are not intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.
Please refer to fig. 1 to 4. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a display module according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is a partially enlarged view of a perspective view of the display module of fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an exploded view of the display module of fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a partially enlarged view of an exploded view of the display module of fig. 1.
The display module 10 of the present embodiment is, for example, a display module 10 of a portable computer (not shown in the figure). The display module 10 includes a housing 100, a display panel 200, two pivotal members 300, a cover 400, a plurality of cables 500, and two waterproof structures 600.
The housing 100 includes a casing 101 and a frame 102 fixed relatively. The frame 102 surrounds the display panel 200 such that the display panel 200 is disposed on the frame 102. The housing 101 surrounds the bezel 102 and covers one side of the display panel 200.
Each of the two pivoting members 300 includes a first fixing portion 301, a pivoting portion 302 and a second fixing portion 303. In each pivoting member 300, two opposite sides of the pivoting portion 302 are respectively connected to the first fixing portion 301 and the second fixing portion 303. The two first fixing portions 301 are respectively fixed at two ends of one side of the frame 102. The two second fixing portions 303 are fixed to a host base (not shown) of the portable computer, for example.
The cover 400 is fixed to one side of the housing 101 and includes a cover 401, two end caps 402, and a fixing frame 403. Two end caps 402 are respectively disposed on two opposite sides of the cover 401. The opposite ends of the fixing frame 403 are fixed to the two end caps 402 respectively to maintain the relative positions of the two end caps 402. Each of the two end caps 402 has an opening 4020 and a receiving groove 4021. The two first fixing portions 301 are received in the outer cover 400. The two pivoting portions 302 respectively pass through the two openings 4020. The two second fixing portions 303 are located outside the outer cover 400. The opening 4020 and the receiving groove 4021 of the same end cap 402 are connected to each other.
The cables 500 respectively pass through the two openings 4020, and two opposite ends of the cables 500 are electrically connected to the display panel 200 and a host of the portable computer, for example, so that the display panel 200 can transmit signals to the host.
Please refer to fig. 3 to 5. Fig. 5 is a partially enlarged view of a cross-sectional view of the display module of fig. 1.
The two waterproof structures 600 are respectively located in the two accommodating grooves 4021 of the two end covers 402, and the shapes of the two accommodating grooves 4021 are respectively matched with the shapes of the two waterproof structures 600. In this way, the two waterproof structures 600 can respectively cover the two pivoting portions 302 passing through the two openings 4020 and the cable 500 to respectively close the two openings 4020. In addition, the fixing frames 403 are respectively located in the two grooves 601 of the two waterproof structures 600.
The two waterproof structures 600 are formed by glue filling molding, for example. For example, when the two end caps 402 are disposed on the cover 401, the fixing frame 403 is used to fix the relative positions of the two end caps 402. Then, a waterproof glue (not shown) is filled into the two receiving slots 4021 of the two end caps 402. After the waterproof glue is cured, two waterproof structures 600 are formed, and the shapes of the two waterproof structures 600 are respectively matched with the shapes of the two accommodating grooves 4021. In addition, since the fixing frame 403 is fixed to the two end caps 402, the two cured waterproof structures 600 each have a groove 601, and the shape of the groove 601 matches the shape of the fixing frame 403.
In addition, the arrangement of the end cover 402 is not limited to the invention, and in other embodiments, the end cover may be omitted and the waterproof glue may be directly poured into the cover body to form the waterproof structure. In the embodiment of omitting the end cap, the fixing frame can also be omitted.
Furthermore, the number of the pivot 300, the end cover 402, the opening 4020 and the waterproof structure 600 is not limited in the present invention, and in other embodiments, only one pivot may be included, and the first fixing portion of the pivot is fixed to one side of the frame. In the embodiment including only one pivot member, two end caps are not required, and only one end cap having an opening and a receiving groove is required to be disposed on one side of the cover. Therefore, only one waterproof structure is required to be formed in the accommodating groove of the end cover to cover the pivoting part of the pivoting part and the cable so as to seal the opening. In addition, in the embodiment in which only one end cap is provided, the fixing frame for fixing the relative positions of the different end caps may be omitted altogether.
In this embodiment, the display module 10 may further include a sealing plate 700. The sealing plate 700 is interposed between the frame 102 and the housing 101, and the young's modulus of the material of which the sealing plate 700 is made is smaller than the young's modulus of the material of which the frame 102 and the housing 101 are made. That is, the frame 102 and the housing 101 can compress the sealing plate 700, so that the deformed sealing plate 700 can be tightly clamped between the frame 102 and the housing 101 to achieve a sealing effect, thereby preventing moisture from contacting the display panel 200 surrounded by the frame 102.
However, the invention is not limited to the sealing plate 700, and in other embodiments, the sealing plate does not need to be sandwiched between the frame and the housing, but the waterproof structure only prevents moisture from entering the housing and contacting the display panel.
According to the display module and the assembling method thereof disclosed by the embodiment, the waterproof structure coats the pivoting part and the cable to seal the at least one opening, so that water vapor cannot enter the shell through the opening to contact the display panel. Therefore, the display panel can not be damaged by contacting with water vapor. In addition, waterproof construction is formed in the opening that originally was seted up for pin joint portion and cable through the encapsulating shaping, therefore waterproof construction's setting can not increase the thickness of frame or shell for display module can compromise the waterproof and narrow frame's of display module demand simultaneously.
Although the present invention has been described with reference to the above embodiments, it should be understood that various changes and modifications can be made therein by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
