Also, the Network side Device (NW) may configure PSM for the UE only when the user equipment sends a request to activate PSM to the NW. Generally, the UE will send a request to the NW to activate PSM via an attach request message, tracking area update request message, or routing area update request message.
If the NW needs to reconfigure the PSM for the UE between two processes that can send an activate PSM request, i.e. between two attachments, two tracking area updates, or two routing area updates. At present, the NW needs to initiate a procedure of releasing the current connection state of the attach, tracking area, or routing area to the UE, and after the current connection state between the NW and the UE is released, when the UE sends an attach request message, a tracking area update request message, or a routing area update request message to the NW again, the NW may initiate a request for activating the PSM again at the same time, and finally, the NW reconfigures the PSM to the UE.
However, the above method for configuring the PSM of the ue has the problems that the PSM may not be configured, signaling interaction of the PSM configuration process is excessive, and efficiency is low.

Compared with the prior art, the technical scheme of the invention has the following advantages:
in the above-described scheme, between the two processes of sending the request for activating the power saving mode, when the NW needs to reconfigure the power saving mode for the UE, the NW directly sends the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode to the UE, so that the UE can determine that the NW needs to reconfigure the power saving mode for itself when receiving the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode. It can be seen that the procedure of the power saving mode configuration need not be limited by whether the UE includes a request to activate the power saving mode when sending the attach request message, the tracking area update request message, or the routing area update request message to the NW again, and therefore the configuration success rate of the power saving mode of the user equipment can be improved. In addition, for the NW, the power saving mode does not need to be configured after the signaling is initiated additionally and the current connection state is released from the UE, so the signaling interaction in the configuration process of the power saving mode of the user equipment can be reduced, and the configuration efficiency can be improved.
Further, after the user equipment is confirmed to be in a communication-capable state, the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode is sent to the user equipment, so that repeated sending caused by the fact that the user equipment cannot receive the message can be avoided, and signaling interaction in the configuration process of the power saving mode of the user equipment can be reduced.
Further, after confirming that the user equipment supports the power saving mode, the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode is sent to the user equipment, so that the pertinence of the configuration of the power saving mode of the user equipment can be improved.

Detailed Description
As above, only when a User Equipment (UE) sends a request for activating a Power Saving Mode (PSM) to a Network side Device (NW), the NW can configure the Power Saving Mode for the UE. Also, the UE will typically send a request to the NW to activate PSM via an attach request message, a tracking area update request message, or a routing area update request message. Taking an attach request message as an example, fig. 1 shows a signaling interaction diagram of a current configuration method of PSM, as shown in fig. 1, and step S11: the UE sends an attach request message to the NW, including a request for PSM configuration. Step S12: upon determining to receive the request of the UE, the NW replies an attach receipt message to the UE and includes the PSM configuration in the attach receipt message. Step S13: and the UE and the NW complete the establishment of the attachment connection through multiple interactions.
In order to solve the above problem, in the embodiment of the present invention, between two processing procedures that can send a PSM activation request, when needing to reconfigure the PSM for the UE, the NW directly sends a message including the configuration information of the PSM to the UE, so that the UE can determine that the NW needs to configure the PSM for itself when receiving the message including the configuration information of the PSM. It can be seen that the PSM configuration procedure need not be limited by whether the UE includes a request to activate PSM when sending the attach request message, the tracking area update request message, or the routing area update request message to the NW again, and thus the configuration success rate of the PSM of the user equipment can be improved. Moreover, for the NW, the PSM configuration does not need to be performed after the signaling is initiated additionally and the current connection state is released from the UE, so signaling interaction in the PSM configuration process of the UE can be reduced and the configuration efficiency can be improved.
In order to make the aforementioned objects, features and advantages of the present invention comprehensible, embodiments accompanied with figures are described in detail below.
Fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a configuration method of a user equipment in an embodiment of the present invention, and as shown in fig. 2, the method may be implemented according to the following flows:
step S21: between two processes of sending request for activating power saving mode, judging whether configuration of power saving mode is needed for user equipment.
Since the ue may send the request for activating the power saving mode to the network side device through the attach request message, the tracking area update request message, or the routing area update request message, in a specific implementation, the processing procedure capable of sending the request for activating the power saving mode may include: an attachment establishment procedure, a tracking area update procedure or a routing area update procedure. The processing procedure between two processes capable of sending the request for activating the power saving mode is specifically referred to as between two attach establishment procedures, or referred to as between two tracking area update procedures, or referred to as between two routing area update procedures. And, after the attachment establishment procedure is finished, the attachment establishment procedure is not followed by another attachment establishment procedure, but is followed by a tracking area update procedure or a routing area update procedure according to the difference of the communication system in which the user equipment resides.
When it is determined that the configuration of the power saving mode for the user equipment is required, performing step S22; otherwise, the flow ends.
Step S22: transmitting a message including configuration information of a power saving mode to the user equipment.
In implementations, the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode may be in various forms. For example, the message including the configuration information of the power save mode may be an Access Stratum (AS) message including the configuration information of the power save mode. For another example, the message including the configuration information of the power save mode may be a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message including the configuration information of the power save mode.
It should be noted that the configuration information of the power saving mode may be sent through an AS/NAS message that already exists currently, or may be sent through a message that defines a new message. For example, a new NAS message may be defined to configure the configuration information parameters of the power saving mode from the network side device to the user equipment on the NAS level. For another example, some existing AS messages, such AS RRC connection reconfiguration messages, may also be used to send the configuration information of the power saving mode, so that the access stratum on the user equipment side may pass the received information to the upper layer for later use. And, when the ue performs reconfiguration, the ue needs to be in RRC connected mode, because the ue needs to confirm to the network side device whether the new configuration is already used.
In order to avoid repeated transmission due to the fact that the user equipment cannot receive the message and reduce signaling interaction in the configuration process of the power saving mode of the user equipment, in a specific implementation, before the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode is transmitted to the user equipment, the user equipment can be confirmed to be in a communication-capable state. In other words, the PSM may be configured for the ue by the network side device only on the premise that the ue is confirmed to be in the communication capable state. And, before the ue enters the PSM sleep mode or when the ue wakes up from the PSM sleep mode to transmit some Mobile On-line (MO), the ue is in a communication capable state.
In the specific implementation, before determining whether the configuration of the power saving mode needs to be performed on the user equipment, it can be confirmed that the user equipment supports the power saving mode, so that the pertinence of the configuration of the power saving mode of the user equipment can be improved.
In a specific implementation, the ue may confirm that the ue supports the power saving mode through a plurality of messages, for example, an attach request message, a tracking area update request message, a routing area update request message, or a combination of any two or more of the above messages. And, the user equipment may indicate that the network side equipment itself supports the power saving mode when sending the last attach request message, the tracking area update request message, or the routing area update request message.
Step S23: receiving a message characterizing acceptance of configuration of the power saving mode by the user equipment.
In an implementation, after receiving a message indicating that the user equipment accepts the configuration of the power saving mode, it may be confirmed that the user equipment has used the configured power saving mode.
At present, a network side device needs to first release a connection state of a user device, and then expects the user device to initiate a request for activating a power saving mode when sending a request message for establishing the connection state to the network side device next time, and finally, the network side device reconfigures the power saving mode to the user device.
In the embodiment of the invention, between two processing processes of sending the request for activating the power saving mode, when the power saving mode configuration needs to be carried out on the user equipment again, the network side equipment directly sends the message comprising the configuration information of the power saving mode to the user equipment, so that the user equipment can determine that the network side equipment needs to carry out the power saving mode configuration on the user equipment when receiving the message comprising the configuration information of the power saving mode. Therefore, the power saving mode configuration process is not limited to whether the user equipment includes a request for activating the power saving mode when the user equipment sends the attach request message, the tracking area update request message or the routing area update request message to the network side equipment again, so that the power saving mode configuration success rate of the user equipment can be improved. In addition, for the network side equipment, the configuration of the power saving mode is not required to be carried out after the signaling is additionally initiated and the current connection state of the user equipment is released, so the signaling interaction of the configuration process of the power saving mode of the user equipment can be reduced, and the configuration efficiency can be improved.
In order to make those skilled in the art better understand and implement the present invention, fig. 3 illustrates a configuration method of a user equipment in an embodiment of the present invention, which is described in detail below with reference to fig. 3, and the method may include the following processes:
step S31: between processes in which an active power saving mode request can be transmitted twice, it is detected whether a message including configuration information of a power saving mode is received.
Since the network side device only configures the power saving mode for the user equipment supporting the power saving mode function, in order to avoid the waste of signaling, in a specific implementation, in a process of sending a request for activating the power saving mode before detecting whether a message including configuration information of the power saving mode is received, the network side device may be indicated to support the power saving mode itself. Specifically, the network-side device may be indicated with at least one of the following messages: an attach request message, a tracking area update request message, a routing area update request message. For example, the user equipment indicates the self-supporting power saving mode to the network side device while sending the attach request message, the tracking area update request message or the routing area update request message to the network side device at time t 1. The attachment, tracking area update or routing area update is completed at time (t1+ Δ t). Then the user equipment may start detecting whether a message including configuration information of the power saving mode is received at time (t1+ Δ t).
In a specific implementation, the process of sending the request for activating the power saving mode includes: attach, tracking area update, or routing area update procedures.
When the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode is received, performing step S32; otherwise, step S31 is repeatedly executed.
Step S32: determining whether to accept configuration of the power saving mode.
When it is determined that the configuration of the power saving mode is accepted, performing step S33; otherwise, step S34 is executed.
Step S33: sending a message to a network side device characterizing acceptance of the configuration of the power saving mode.
Step S34: and sending a message for representing that the configuration of the power saving mode is refused to the network side equipment, and stopping using the previously configured power saving mode.
In a specific implementation, when the user equipment determines to reject the configuration of the power saving mode, a message indicating that the configuration of the power saving mode is rejected may be sent to the network side equipment, and the previously configured power saving mode is stopped from being used. After that, the user equipment may use a normal Discontinuous Reception (DRX) configuration, such as using a paging configuration. The network side device may configure the normal DRX configuration to the user equipment through a system message or in an LTE system using a system message block 2(SIB 2).
To sum up, the ue of the embodiment of the present invention detects whether a message including configuration information of a power saving mode is received between two processing procedures capable of sending a request for activating the power saving mode, and further sends a message representing acceptance of the configuration of the power saving mode to a network side device when detecting that the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode is received and determining that the configuration of the power saving mode is accepted.
4 shows a signaling interaction diagram of a method for configuring a user equipment in an embodiment of the present invention, and in fig. 4, a detailed description is given below to a specific configuration process of the user equipment with reference to fig. 4, as shown in fig. 4, the configuration process is implemented according to the following steps:
step S41: the user equipment is in RRC connected mode.
Step S42: the user equipment sends an attachment request to the network side equipment, wherein the attachment request comprises power saving mode configuration request information.
Step S43: the network side device replies an attach accept including a power saving mode configuration to the user equipment.
Step S44: the network side device replies an attach accept to the user device.
Step S45: and the user equipment replies the attachment completion to the network side equipment.
Step S46: when the network side equipment confirms that the configuration of the power saving mode needs to be carried out on the user equipment, the AS/NAS information comprising the configuration information of the power saving mode is sent to the user equipment.
Step S47: the user equipment replies to the AS/NAS message confirming that the new power saving mode configuration has been used.
Since the network side equipment needs to confirm that the user equipment is in a communication-capable state, the network side equipment can perform signaling interaction with the user equipment. Therefore, in the implementation, the following process may be further included: step S48: and releasing the RRC connection. Step S49: an RRC connection is established. Further, step S46 and step S47 are executed.
As can be seen from the above, in the embodiment of the present invention, between two attach establishment processes, when power saving mode configuration needs to be performed on the user equipment again, the network side device directly sends a message including configuration information of the power saving mode to the user equipment, and when the user equipment receives the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode, it can be determined that the network side device needs to perform power saving mode configuration on itself. Therefore, the power saving mode configuration process is not limited to whether the user equipment includes a request for activating the power saving mode when the user equipment sends the attach request message to the network side equipment again, so that the power saving mode configuration success rate of the user equipment can be improved.
5 shows a signaling interaction diagram of a method for configuring a user equipment in an embodiment of the present invention. Referring to fig. 5, a detailed description will be given of a specific configuration process of the user equipment, as shown in fig. 5, the configuration process is implemented according to the following steps:
step S51: the user equipment is in RRC connected mode.
Step S52: user equipment sends a tracking area updating/routing area updating request to network side equipment, wherein the tracking area updating or routing area updating request comprises power saving mode configuration request information.
Step S53: the network side device replies a tracking area update/routing area update acceptance including the power saving mode configuration to the user equipment.
Step S54: and the network side equipment replies tracking area updating/routing area updating acceptance to the user equipment.
Step S55: and the user equipment replies the completion of the tracking area update/routing area update to the network side equipment.
Step S56: when the network side equipment confirms that the configuration of the power saving mode needs to be carried out on the user equipment, the AS/NAS information comprising the configuration information of the power saving mode is sent to the user equipment.
Step S57: the user equipment replies to the AS/NAS message confirming that the new power saving mode configuration has been used.
Since the network side equipment needs to confirm that the user equipment is in a communication-capable state, the network side equipment can perform signaling interaction with the user equipment. Therefore, in the implementation, the following process may be further included: step S58: and releasing the RRC connection. Step S59: an RRC connection is established. Further, step S56 and step S57 are executed.
As can be seen from the above, in the embodiment of the present invention, between two tracking area update or routing area update processes, when power saving mode configuration needs to be performed on the user equipment again, the network side device directly sends a message including configuration information of the power saving mode to the user equipment, and when the user equipment receives the message including the configuration information of the power saving mode, it can be determined that the network side device needs to perform power saving mode configuration on itself. Therefore, the power saving mode configuration process is not limited to whether the user equipment includes a request for activating the power saving mode when the user equipment sends the tracking area update or routing area update request message to the network side equipment again, so that the power saving mode configuration success rate of the user equipment can be improved.
In order to enable those skilled in the art to better understand and implement the present invention, fig. 6 illustrates a schematic structural diagram of a network-side device according to an embodiment of the present invention, and as shown in fig. 6, the network-side device may include: a first determining unit 61, a transmitting unit 62 and a receiving unit 63, wherein:
a first judging unit 61 adapted to judge whether or not the configuration of the power saving mode is required for the user equipment between two processes in which the request for activating the power saving mode can be transmitted;
a transmitting unit 62 adapted to transmit a message including configuration information of a power saving mode to a user equipment when it is determined that the configuration of the power saving mode is required for the user equipment;
a receiving unit 63 adapted to receive a message characterizing that the user equipment accepts the configuration of the power saving mode.
