一种隐藏应用图标的方法及装置，属于计算机技术领域。上述方法包括：监测到桌面界面中通过第二应用图标对第一应用图标的隐藏操作(101)，所述第二应用图标为已安装的任一应用图标；在所述桌面界面中隐藏所述第一应用图标(102)。上述方法解决了隐藏应用图标的功能所存在的隐私性较差的问题；由于用于隐藏应用图标的另一应用图标可以由用户任意选定，他人即使掌握了用于触发显示隐藏的应用图标的操作，但由于不知道隐藏的应用图标具体隐藏在什么位置，因此也无法轻易地触发显示隐藏的应用图标，以使得该功能的隐私性得到提升。
