The shelf of claim 1 wherein the front shelf includes a bottom shelf and uprights at opposite ends of the bottom shelf, the uprights including a long straight section and an arcuate section, the arcuate section being integrally formed with the long straight section, the arcuate section being positioned above the long straight section, the upper end of the arcuate section being hingedly connected to the upper end of the rear shelf.
5. The shelf of claim 1 wherein the rear frame includes a storage compartment and a plurality of cross members arranged from top to bottom, the storage compartment being suspended from the cross members by hooks.
6. The shelf of claim 1, wherein the front frame has a display plate at an upper end thereof, the display plate having a slot and a transparent cover plate covering the slot.
7. Use of a shelf for the sale of socks according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that it comprises the following steps:
