a wireless access point receives an association message sent by a terminal, and suspends forwarding the association message until receiving an Internet Protocol (IP) message sent by the terminal; wherein, the association message is an association request or a re-association request; and when the IP message is received, the wireless access point sends the association message to a controller.
In the solution provided in the first aspect of the present application, the wireless access point does not send the association message of the terminal to the controller until receiving the IP packet sent by the terminal. Therefore, the controller needs to process the association message transmitted by the terminal only when the terminal uses the network. The controller may not process association messages sent by terminals that do not use the network, thereby reducing the number of association messages that the controller needs to process. The overhead of the controller is reduced, and the capacity of the controller is improved.
Optionally, the method further includes: and the wireless access point suspends forwarding the IP message until receiving an indication which is sent by the controller and allows the terminal to access the network. Detailed Description
In order to make the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the present invention more apparent, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Referring to fig. 1, a system architecture diagram of an associated message processing system according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention is shown. The association message processing system includes the following network devices: two or more wireless Access Points (APs) 110, a controller 120, and at least one terminal 130.
The controller 120 controls the wireless access point 110.
The terminal 130 may include various handheld devices with wireless local area network functionality (such as smartphones, tablets, and e-book readers), in-vehicle devices, wearable devices (such as smartwatches or smart glasses), computing devices, or other wireless local area network devices.
The Controller 120 may be an Access Controller (AC) supporting a Wireless Access point Control And Configuration (CAPWAP) protocol, or the Controller 120 may be other devices having functions similar to the AC. The controller 120 may be a server or a network device, such as a switch or a router.
In one case, when the terminal 130 initially connects to the wlan, the procedure for the terminal 130 to associate with a wireless access point 110 may be as follows:
1) wireless access point 110 periodically transmits beacon frames.
2) The terminal 130 receives the beacon frame to discover the wireless access point.
3) The terminal 130 transmits a probe request frame to the wireless access point 110.
4) The wireless access point 110 receives the probe request frame and returns a probe response frame.
5) After receiving the polling response frame, the terminal 130 transmits a link authentication request to the wireless access point 110.
6) The wireless access point 110 returns a link authentication response to the terminal 130.
7) The terminal 130 transmits an association request (english: association Request).
8) The wireless access point 110 returns an association response to the terminal 130.
9) The terminal 130 receives the association response, and the association process is completed.
The step 1) and the step 2) are optional steps, and the terminal 130 may also actively send the polling request frame.
In another case, the terminal 130 may also re-associate to another wireless access point 110, if it has already associated to one wireless access point 110. For example, the terminal 130 may measure the signal quality of other wireless access points 110, and when the signal quality of other wireless access points 110 is high enough and the signal quality of the wireless access point 110 with which the terminal 130 is currently associated is low, the terminal 130 may associate with another wireless access point 110 with a higher signal quality. The above process may be referred to as a terminal roaming between two wireless access points 110. The procedure of associating with another wireless access point 110 in the roaming process is similar to that of associating with the wireless access point 110 by the terminal 130 in the previous case, and it should be noted that in the roaming process, the terminal 130 may send an association Request to the wireless access point 110 and may also send a Reassociation Request (english: Reassociation Request) to the wireless access point 110.
In both cases, when the terminal 130 initially accesses one wireless access point 110 or roams between two wireless access points 110, the wireless access point 110 forwards the association request or the re-association request sent by the terminal 130 to the controller 120, and the controller 120 processes the association request or the re-association request. In various embodiments of the present invention, the association request or the re-association request may be collectively referred to as an association message.
In the embodiment of the invention, after receiving the association message sent by the terminal, the wireless access point suspends forwarding the association message until the wireless access point receives the IP message sent by the terminal. When receiving the IP packet sent by the terminal, the wireless access point sends the association message to the controller, and the controller processes the association message. That is, according to the scheme shown in the embodiment of the present invention, the controller needs to process the association message sent by the terminal only when the terminal uses the network, and may not process the association message sent when the terminal does not use the network, so as to reduce the number of association messages to be processed, optimize the processing procedure of the association messages, reduce the overhead of the controller for processing the association messages, and save the system processing resources.
Referring to fig. 2, a schematic structural diagram of a network device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention is shown. The network device 20 may be implemented as the wireless access point 110 in the network environment described above with respect to fig. 1.
The network device 20 may include: a processor 21 and a communication interface 24.
The processor 21 may include a Central Processing Unit (CPU), a Network Processor (NP), or the like. The processor 21 is configured to schedule and process an association message (association request or re-association request) sent by the terminal.
The communication interface 24 comprises a wireless network interface, such as a W L AN interface, optionally, the communication interface 24 may also comprise a wired network interface, such as AN ethernet interface, etc. the communication interface 24 is controlled by the processor 21.
Optionally, the network device 20 may further include a memory 23, and the processor 21 may be connected to the memory 23 and the communication interface 24 by a bus.
The memory 23 may be used to store software programs that may be executed by the processor 21. In addition, various service data or user data may be stored in the memory 23.
Referring to fig. 3, a flowchart of an association message processing method according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. The method can be used in the network environment shown in fig. 1 to process the association message sent by the terminal. As shown in fig. 3, the association message processing method may include:
step 301, the terminal sends an association message to the wireless access point, and the wireless access point receives the association message. The wireless access point temporarily does not send the association message to the controller.
The association message may be a reassociation request (english), or the association message may be an association request (english).
Optionally, after receiving the association message, the wireless access point suspends forwarding the association message and temporarily stores the association message in the wireless access point, for example, temporarily stores the association message in a memory of the wireless access point, or temporarily stores the association message in a cache of a CPU of the wireless access point.
In practical applications, during a roaming process of a terminal from one wireless access point to another wireless access point, the terminal may not have a requirement for using a network, for example, the wireless lan at least includes 3 wireless access points, which are AP1, AP2, and AP3, if a user is in a signal coverage range of AP1, the terminal is controlled to use the network through the wireless lan, the terminal first associates to AP1, and if the user moves through signal coverage ranges of AP2 and AP3, the terminal roams to AP2 and AP3 in sequence. In this process, if the user moves through the signal coverage of AP2 and AP3, respectively, and the terminal does not use the network, then whether the association message sent by the terminal in the process of roaming to AP2 and AP3 is processed in time or not is not affected for the user, so that the re-association message sent in the process of roaming in which the terminal does not need to use the network can be processed through the subsequent steps of the embodiment of the present invention.
Optionally, in another possible scenario, assuming that the user has previously accessed the wireless lan, if the user moves to the signal coverage of AP1 of the wireless lan again, the terminal may automatically associate to AP1 without the user's awareness, at this time, the terminal sends an association request to AP1, or may not send a re-association request but directly send an association request in the process that the terminal roams to AP2 and AP3, and therefore, in the embodiment of the present invention, the association request sent by the terminal may also be processed through subsequent steps of the embodiment of the present invention.
The association request and the re-association request are sent by the terminal when initiating association to the wireless access point, and the association process may refer to the description in the embodiment of fig. 1, which is not described herein again.
The above step 301 may be executed by the processor 21 in fig. 2 controlling the communication interface 24.
Step 302, the wireless access point returns an association response to the terminal, and the terminal receives the association response.
In the embodiment of the invention, after receiving the association message sent by the terminal, the wireless access point can directly return the association response to the terminal without waiting for the controller to process the association message. For example, when the association message is a reassociation request, the association response may be a reassociation response (english); alternatively, when the association message is an association request, the association response may be an association response (english). At this time, a wireless connection is established between the terminal and the wireless access point, or the terminal is successfully associated with the wireless access point.
And after receiving the association response, the terminal determines that wireless connection is established between the terminal and the wireless access point, and at the moment, if the terminal needs to use a network, the terminal can directly send an IP message to the wireless access point. Correspondingly, if the terminal does not need to use a network after establishing connection with the wireless access point, the terminal does not send an IP message to the wireless access point.
The above step 302 may be performed by the processor 21 in fig. 2 controlling the communication interface 24.
Step 303, when receiving the IP packet sent by the terminal, the wireless access point sends the association message to the controller; the controller receives the association message.
If the wireless access point receives the IP message sent by the terminal, the wireless access point can determine that the terminal needs to use the network, namely the association message needs to be processed in time, and at the moment, the wireless access point can send the association message to the controller. On the contrary, if the wireless access point does not receive the IP packet sent by the terminal until the terminal disassociates from the wireless access point, the wireless access point may discard the association message when the terminal disassociates from the wireless access point.
The above step 303 may be performed by the processor 21 in fig. 2.
Step 304, the wireless access point suspends forwarding the IP packet sent by the terminal and temporarily stores the IP packet.
In the embodiment of the present invention, after the wireless access point receives the IP packet sent by the terminal, before the controller returns the processing result of the association message, the IP packet is temporarily stored in the wireless access point, for example, the IP packet is temporarily stored in a memory of the wireless access point, or the IP packet is temporarily stored in a cache of a CPU of the wireless access point.
The above step 304 may be performed by the processor 21 in fig. 2.
The controller processes the association message, step 305.
Specifically, in the embodiment of the present invention, the controller may trigger the authentication server to authenticate the terminal based on the association message, for example, the controller may send an authentication request to the authentication server, where the authentication request is used to request the authentication server to authenticate the terminal. Taking the example that the association message is a re-association request, the controller may extract locally stored authentication information (including a user name, a password, and the like) of the terminal, carry the extracted authentication information in the authentication request, and send the authentication request to the authentication server, and the authentication server authenticates the terminal.
For example, taking a Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) as an example, after receiving the association message, the controller sends a RADIUS Authentication request for the terminal to the Authentication server, and the Authentication server authenticates the terminal based on the RADIUS Authentication request and returns an Authentication result to the controller.
After the controller processes the association message, it determines to execute step 306 or step 308 according to the processing result.
Step 306, when the association message is processed successfully, the controller sends an indication for allowing the terminal to access the network to the wireless access point; the wireless access point receives the indication.
After the authentication server completes the authentication of the terminal, the authentication server may return an authentication response to the controller, where the authentication response indicates whether the terminal passes the authentication, and after receiving the authentication response, the controller sends an indication for allowing the terminal to access the network to the wireless access point if it determines that the terminal is successfully authenticated according to the authentication response, where the indication is used to inform the wireless access point that the terminal is allowed to access the network. Specifically, the indication may be an association response or a re-association response for the association message, or the indication may also be a Control And configuration protocol (CAPWAP) message of a Wireless Access point carrying authorization information, where the authorization information in the CAPWAP message may indicate that the terminal has a right to Access the network. Accordingly, the wireless access point receives an indication that the terminal is allowed to access the network.
The above step 306 may be performed by the processor 21 controlling the communication interface 24 in fig. 2.
Step 307, the wireless access point forwards the IP packet.
After receiving the indication of successful authentication of the terminal, the wireless access point confirms that the IP packet sent by the terminal can be released, and at the moment, the wireless access point forwards the IP packet sent by the terminal.
The above step 307 may be performed by the processor 21 in fig. 2 controlling the communication interface 24.
Step 308, when the association message fails to be processed, the controller sends an indication that the terminal is not allowed to access the network to the wireless access point; the wireless access point receives the indication.
Different from the step 306, if the controller determines that the terminal fails to be authenticated according to the authentication response after receiving the authentication response returned by the authentication server, the controller sends an indication that the terminal is not allowed to access the network to the wireless access point, where the indication is used to inform the wireless access point that the terminal is not allowed to access the network.
Step 309, the wireless access point discards the IP packet and disassociates the terminal.
After receiving the indication that the terminal is not allowed to access the network, the wireless access point may discard the IP packet sent by the terminal, which is temporarily stored before, and send a disassociation (disassociation) frame or a deauthentication (deauthentication) frame to the terminal, so as to disassociate the terminal.
Specifically, please refer to fig. 4 and 5 in combination, where fig. 4 shows a schematic view of a terminal association scenario related to AN embodiment of the present invention, fig. 5 shows a schematic view of a message processing flow related to AN embodiment of the present invention, in fig. 4, a wan includes 3 APs (respectively, AP to AP) and 1 AC, a terminal has accessed AN AP, then, after a terminal position moves to a coverage of the AP, a reassociation request is sent to the AP (i.e., the step in fig. 5 is executed), after receiving the reassociation request, the AP returns AN association response to the reassociation request to the terminal (i.e., the step in fig. 5 is executed), then, the terminal does not send AN IP message to the AP (i.e., the step in fig. 5 is not executed when the terminal accesses the AP), correspondingly, the AP does not receive AN IP message sent by the terminal, and does not report the reassociation request to the AC to the coverage of the AP, at this time, the terminal does not send the reassociation request to the AP, i.e., the AP does not receive AN IP message sent by the AP, or report the reassociation request to the AC (i.e., the AP, i.e., the AP does not send AN authentication result of the AP authentication is temporarily stored to the AP, if the terminal, the terminal returns AN association response is received by the AP authentication frame, the AP, that the AP authentication is received by the AP, the terminal (i.e., the AP is sent to the AP, that the AP is sent to the AP is temporarily stored to the AP, or the AP is sent to the network authentication is sent to the network), if the network, otherwise, the network authentication is sent to the network, or the network, if the network authentication is not sent to the network, the network authentication is not sent to the network authentication is sent to the network, the network authentication is sent to the network, if the network, the network authentication is not sent to the network, the network authentication is not.
In summary, in the solution shown in the embodiment of the present invention, after the wireless access point receives the association message sent by the terminal, the wireless access point suspends forwarding the association message until the wireless access point receives the IP packet sent by the terminal; when receiving the IP message sent by the terminal, the wireless access point sends the association message to the controller; therefore, the controller needs to process the association message sent by the terminal only when the terminal uses the network, and the controller may not process the association message sent by the terminal which does not use the network, thereby reducing the number of association messages that the controller needs to process. The processing process of the associated message is optimized, the performance overhead of the controller is reduced, and the capability of the controller is improved.
Referring to fig. 6, a block diagram of an association message processing apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. The apparatus may be implemented as part or all of a wireless access point in the network environment shown in fig. 1 by hardware or a combination of hardware and software, so as to perform all or part of the steps performed by the wireless access point in the embodiment shown in fig. 3.
