The Third Generation Partnership Project (3 GPP) protocol defines an "attach without Public Data Network connection (PDN)" function, which can be used for an attach request or Tracking Area Update (TAU) request of a terminal. Detailed Description
As mentioned in the background, in the prior art, although the network side may inform the terminal that the current cell does not support the "attach without PDN connection" function, the terminal still sends an attach request without PDN connection request to the network side. Because the current cell does not support the 'attach without PDN connection' function, the network side will reject the attach request of the terminal that does not contain the PDN connection request, so that the terminal attach fails. In some embodiments, the receiving unit 902 is further configured to: initiate a detach procedure or initiate a default evolved packet system bearer context activation procedure.
In some embodiments, the receiving unit 902 is further configured to: receiving an attach request from the terminal device that does not include a PDN connection request, the request being sent to enable attachment in a fourth cell that supports attachment of no PDN connection when the terminal device supports only attachment of no PDN connection.
In some embodiments, the sending unit 901, the receiving unit 902 and the processing unit 903 may be a Mobility Management Entity (MME). In some embodiments, the sending unit 901, the receiving unit 902 and the processing unit 903 are processors, such as CPUs, MCUs, DSPs, etc.
In summary, according to the communication method, the terminal device, and the network side device provided in the embodiments of the present invention, when the network side informs that the cell currently selected by the terminal does not support the PDN connection-less attach, if the terminal supports both the PDN connection-less attach and the PDN connection-holding attach, the terminal directly sends an attach request including a PDN connection request to the network side. Therefore, the terminal utilizes the message which is sent by the network side and indicates that the current cell does not support the attachment without PDN connection, so that the waste of a signaling flow caused by the fact that the terminal still sends an attachment request without a PDN connection request to the network side under the condition that the current cell does not support the attachment without PDN connection in the prior art is avoided, the signaling flow in communication is optimized, the communication efficiency is improved, and the communication time, the battery and the network resource are saved.
Further, when the network side informs that the cell currently selected by the terminal does not support the attachment without the PDN connection, if the terminal only supports the attachment without the PDN connection, a cell selection procedure is performed, that is, a cell supporting the attachment without the PDN connection is reselected, thereby completing the attachment.
Further, the embodiment of the present invention also provides a communication method when the terminal moves from a cell which does not support the attachment of the PDN-free connection to a cell which supports the attachment of the PDN-free connection, and a communication method when the terminal moves from a cell which supports the attachment of the PDN-free connection to a cell which does not support the attachment of the PDN-free connection.
The communication method, the terminal device and the network side device provided by the embodiment of the invention can be used in new technology fields which may appear in the future, such as 4G technology (Long Term Evolution (LTE)) system, 5G technology and the like.
Although the present invention is disclosed above, the present invention is not limited thereto. Various changes and modifications may be effected therein by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Claims (38)

1. A method of communication, comprising:
a terminal receives a first message from a network side, wherein the first message indicates that a first cell currently selected by the terminal does not support the attachment without public data network connection;
and if the terminal supports both the attachment without public data network connection and the attachment with public data network connection, sending an attachment request containing a public data network connection request to the network side based on the first message.
2. The communication method according to claim 1, further comprising: and establishing public data network connection with the network side, and completing the attachment of the current first cell.
3. The communication method according to claim 2, further comprising: when the terminal moves from the first cell to a second cell supporting the attachment without public data network connection, a tracking area update request is sent to the network side.
4. The communication method according to claim 3, further comprising: and requesting the network side to disconnect the public data network connection.
5. The communication method according to claim 3, further comprising: when the terminal moves from the second cell to a third cell which does not support the attachment without public data network connection, sending a detach request of the second cell and an attach request containing a public data network connection request to the network side to attach to the third cell.
6. The communication method according to claim 3, further comprising: when the terminal moves from the second cell to a third cell which does not support the attachment without public data network connection, a tracking area update request is sent to the network side to indicate that the third cell does not support the attachment without public data network connection.
7. The communication method according to claim 6, further comprising: sending a public data network connection request to the network side before or after the sending of the tracking area update request.
8. The communication method according to claim 1, further comprising: and if the terminal only supports the attachment without public data network connection, executing a cell selection process to complete the attachment in a fourth cell, wherein the fourth cell supports the attachment without public data network connection.
9. The communication method according to claim 8, further comprising: performing a cell selection procedure when the terminal moves from the fourth cell to a fifth cell that does not support attachment without a public data network connection.
10. A communication method performed by a network-side device, comprising:
sending a first message to a terminal, wherein the first message indicates that a first cell currently selected by the terminal does not support attachment without public data network connection;
when the terminal supports both an attach without a public data network connection and an attach with a public data network connection, an attach request including a public data network connection request from the terminal is received.
11. The communication method according to claim 10, further comprising: and establishing a public data network connection with the terminal, and enabling the terminal to complete the attachment of the current first cell.
12. The communication method according to claim 11, further comprising: receiving a tracking area update request from the terminal when the terminal moves from the first cell to a second cell supporting an attachment without a public data network connection.
13. The communication method according to claim 12, further comprising: a request from the terminal to disconnect a public data network connection is received.
14. The communication method according to claim 12, further comprising: and disconnecting the public data network connection with the terminal.
15. The communication method according to claim 12, further comprising: when the terminal moves from the second cell to a third cell which does not support the attachment without public data network connection, a detach request sent by the terminal for detaching the attachment in the second cell and an attach request containing the public data network connection request sent for attaching in the third cell are received.
16. The communication method according to claim 12, further comprising: receiving a tracking area update request from the terminal when the terminal moves from the second cell to a third cell that does not support attachment without a public data network connection.
17. The communication method according to claim 16, further comprising: receiving a public data network connection request from the terminal before or after receiving the tracking area update request.
18. The communication method according to claim 15 or 16, further comprising: initiate a detach procedure or initiate a default evolved packet system bearer context activation procedure.
19. The communication method according to claim 10, further comprising: receiving an attach request from the terminal that does not include a public data network connection request, the request being sent to enable an attach in a fourth cell that supports an attach without a public data network connection when the terminal supports only an attach without a public data network connection.
20. A terminal device, comprising:
a receiving unit, configured to receive a first message from a network side, where the first message indicates that a first cell currently selected by the terminal device does not support an attach without public data network connection;
a transmitting unit configured to: and if the terminal equipment supports both the attachment without public data network connection and the attachment with public data network connection, sending an attachment request containing a public data network connection request to the network side based on the first message.
21. The terminal device of claim 20, further comprising: and the processing unit is used for establishing public data network connection with the network side and completing the attachment of the current first cell.
22. The terminal device of claim 21, wherein the sending unit is further configured to: when the terminal equipment moves from the first cell to a second cell supporting attachment without public data network connection, a tracking area updating request is sent to the network side.
23. The terminal device of claim 22, wherein the sending unit is further configured to: and sending a request for disconnecting the public data network to the network side.
24. The terminal device of claim 22, wherein the sending unit is further configured to: when the terminal equipment moves from the second cell to a third cell which does not support the attachment without public data network connection, a detach request of the second cell and an attach request containing a public data network connection request are sent to the network side to attach to the third cell.

The terminal device of claim 22, wherein the sending unit is further configured to: when the terminal equipment moves from the second cell to a third cell which does not support the attachment without public data network connection, a tracking area updating request is sent to the network side to indicate that the third cell does not support the attachment without public data network connection.
26. The terminal device of claim 25, wherein the sending unit is further configured to: sending a public data network connection request to the network side before or after sending the tracking area update request.
27. The terminal device of claim 20, further comprising: a processing unit to: and if the terminal equipment only supports the attachment without public data network connection, executing a cell selection process to complete the attachment in a fourth cell, wherein the fourth cell supports the attachment without public data network connection.
28. The terminal device of claim 27, wherein the processing unit is further configured to: performing a cell selection procedure when the terminal device moves from the fourth cell to a fifth cell that does not support attachment without a public data network connection.
29. A network-side device, comprising:
a sending unit, configured to send a first message to a terminal device, where the first message indicates that a first cell currently selected by the terminal device does not support attachment without public data network connection;
a receiving unit configured to: when the terminal device supports both an attach without public data network connection and an attach with public data network connection, an attach request including a public data network connection request is received from the terminal device.
30. The network-side device of claim 29, further comprising a processing unit, configured to establish a public data network connection with the terminal device, and enable the terminal device to complete the attachment in the current first cell.
31. The network-side device of claim 30, wherein the receiving unit is further configured to: receiving a tracking area update request from the terminal device when the terminal device moves from the first cell to a second cell supporting an attachment without a public data network connection.
32. The network-side device of claim 31, wherein the receiving unit is further configured to: a request to disconnect a public data network connection is received from the terminal device.
