Abstract
The application discloses a method and a device for improving image contrast, wherein the method comprises the following steps: determining the average brightness of the target image; determining a correction curve corresponding to the target image according to the average brightness of the target image; and performing brightness correction on the target image according to the correction curve. The method and the device can effectively improve the contrast of the target image and improve the display effect of the target image in the OLED.
Description
Technical Field
The present application relates to the field of flat panel display technologies, and in particular, to a method and an apparatus for improving image contrast.
Background
An Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) has a self-Light Emitting characteristic, and is simple in structure, Light, thin, fast in response speed, large in viewing angle, high in Light Emitting efficiency, and capable of realizing flexible display, and is a flat panel display technology with great development prospects.
In practical applications, due to the self-luminous property of the OLED, a backlight is not generally disposed in the OLED display device, so that the dark-state luminance of the OLED is low. When a dark image (with low image brightness) is displayed in the OLED, the image displayed by the OLED is the dark image itself because no backlight exists, and the image contrast is low, which causes the problems of loss of details and reduction of the layering sense of the displayed image.
Disclosure of Invention

Detailed Description
In order to achieve the purpose of the present application, an embodiment of the present application provides a method and an apparatus for improving image contrast, where the method includes: for a target image needing to be displayed through the OLED, the average brightness of the target image is determined, a correction curve corresponding to the target image is determined according to the average brightness of the target image, and then brightness correction is carried out on the target image according to the determined correction curve, so that the contrast of the target image is effectively improved, and the display effect of the target image in the OLED is improved.
The technical solutions of the present application will be described clearly and completely below with reference to the specific embodiments of the present application and the accompanying drawings. It should be apparent that the described embodiments are only some of the embodiments of the present application, and not all of the embodiments. Example 1
Fig. 1 is a schematic flowchart of a method for improving image contrast according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The method may be as follows.
Step 102: the average brightness of the target image is determined.
For a target image which needs to be displayed in the OLED, contrast adjustment processing is performed on the target image before output display.
In the embodiment of the present application, determining the average brightness of the target image includes:
converting the color space of the target image into a YUV color space;
determining the brightness of each pixel in a target image according to the target image in the YUV color space;
and determining the average brightness of the target image according to the brightness of each pixel in the target image.
In practical applications, the color space of the target image to be displayed in the OLED is generally an RGB color space, and the target image is converted from the RGB color space to a YUV color space.
The target image for the YUV color space contains Y, U, V three signal components, where the Y signal component represents luminance, i.e., a gray scale value. The gray scale is a change in luminance between the brightest and darkest, and is generally set to 0 to 255, and the higher the gray scale value is, the higher the luminance is.
From the Y signal component in the target image in the YUV color space, the luminance of each pixel in the target image, i.e., the gray-scale value of each pixel, can be determined.
After determining the gray scale value for each pixel in the target image, the average luminance of the target image is calculated according to the following formula:
in the embodiment of the present application, the method further includes:
determining a histogram of a target image;
and judging whether the target image has brightness contrast or not according to the histogram of the target image, and if so, executing the step of determining a correction curve corresponding to the target image.
In practical applications, the average brightness of the target image may not necessarily accurately reflect the brightness distribution of the target image, for example, all pixels in the target image a are 128 gray scales; half of the pixels in the target image b are in 0 gray scale and the other half of the pixels in the target image b are in 255 gray scale, and the average brightness of the target image a and the target image b is 128 gray scale, but no brightness contrast exists in the target image a, and the brightness contrast exists in the target image b.
In order to determine the brightness distribution condition of the target image more accurately, a histogram of the target image is determined, and the number of pixels of each brightness level in the target image, namely the number of pixels corresponding to each gray-scale value is determined according to the histogram, so that the brightness distribution condition in the target image is determined.
According to the histogram of the target image, whether the target image has brightness contrast or not can be determined, and for the target image without brightness contrast, subsequent processing is not needed, and the target image is directly output and displayed in an OLED (organic light emitting diode); for the target image with brightness contrast, it is determined whether the average brightness of the target image falls within the gray scale range with concentrated pixel number, if yes, step 104 is executed.
For a target image whose average brightness does not fall within the gray scale range with concentrated pixel number, it indicates that the average brightness of the target image cannot truly reflect the brightness distribution of the target image, and for such target image, it may be directly output without performing subsequent processing, or may be subjected to subsequent processing by executing step 104, or may be processed by using other contrast improvement methods, which is not specifically limited herein.
Step 104: and determining a correction curve corresponding to the target image according to the average brightness of the target image.
In the embodiment of the present application, determining a correction curve corresponding to a target image according to an average brightness of the target image includes:
if the average brightness of the target image is smaller than or equal to a first preset value, determining a first preset curve as a correction curve, wherein the first preset curve is used for improving the overall brightness of the target image;
if the average brightness of the target image is greater than or equal to a second preset value and less than or equal to a third preset value, determining a second preset curve as a correction curve, wherein the second preset curve is used for highlighting the brightness contrast details of the target image;
and if the average brightness of the target image is greater than or equal to a fourth preset value, determining a third preset curve as a correction curve, wherein the third preset curve is used for reducing the overall brightness of the target image.
In the embodiment of the present application, the method further includes:
if the average brightness of the target image is larger than a first preset value and smaller than a second preset value, determining a correction curve according to a first preset curve and a second preset curve;
and if the average brightness of the target image is greater than the third preset value and less than the fourth preset value, determining a correction curve according to the second preset curve and the third preset curve.
In practical application, three curves for correcting the target image are preset: the first preset curve, the second preset curve and the third preset curve.

As shown in fig. 2, the abscissa is the gray level value before adjustment, and the range is 0 to 255; the ordinate is the adjusted gray scale value, and the range is 0-255.
As shown in fig. 2, for the first preset curve, the adjusted image gray scale is larger than the adjusted image gray scale, that is, the brightness of the image can be improved by the brightness correction of the first preset curve, and the method is suitable for performing the brightness correction on the image with overall lower brightness;
for the second preset curve, the adjusted gray scale of the part (the part with darker brightness) in the range of 0-132 gray scale in the image is lower than the gray scale before adjustment, and the adjusted gray scale of the part (the part with brighter brightness) in the range of 133-255 gray scale in the image is higher than the gray scale before adjustment, namely, the darker part and the brighter part in the image can be darker and the brightness contrast details can be highlighted through brightness correction of the second preset curve, so that the method is suitable for brightness correction of the image with the brighter part and the darker part.
For the third preset curve, the gray scale after the image adjustment is lower than the gray scale before the image adjustment, namely, the brightness of the image can be reduced through the brightness correction of the third preset curve, and the method is suitable for performing the brightness correction on the image with overall brighter brightness.
It should be noted that the first preset curve, the second preset curve, and the third preset curve may be preset according to an actual situation, and are not specifically limited herein.
For example, in a coordinate system formed by the pre-adjustment gray scale and the post-adjustment gray scale, a preset number of coordinate points are set, that is, a corresponding relationship between the pre-adjustment gray scale and the post-adjustment gray scale is set, and then a preset curve is obtained by fitting according to the preset number of coordinate points.
Before brightness adjustment is carried out on the target image, the target image passes through a first preset value x1A second preset value x2A third preset value x3A fourth preset value x4Dividing the full gray scale (0-255) into five sections, wherein: x is the number of1<x2<x3<x4。
