When the cover plate of the escalator or the moving pavement needs to be maintained or an accident occurs, the movable cover plate 8 is in an open state, namely, the movable cover plate 8 is removed from the upper side of the vertical rod 7, the vertical rod 7 moves upwards due to the elastic force of the elastic piece 5, so that the second positioning plate 2 positioned on the vertical rod 7 is driven to move upwards, the second positioning plate 2 presses the safety switch 4, the safety switch 4 is in a closed state, the safety switch 4 sends out a stop operation signal, the escalator or the moving pavement stops operating, and the safety of maintenance personnel and passengers is protected.
