Description

Wireless roaming method and roaming AP
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of network technologies, and in particular, to a wireless roaming method and a roaming AP.
Background
A plurality of APs having the same SSID may exist in the same lan, and when an STA is associated with and connected to an AP by scanning the SSID, if the location of the STA changes, the communication quality between the STA and the currently connected AP may be deteriorated.
For a common AP, even if an STA moves to the vicinity of another AP in a local area network, as long as the association with the original AP is not disconnected, the STA can be always connected with the original AP with poor communication quality and cannot automatically roam to another AP; although some APs can realize the automatic roaming function, the STA can only roam to another AP in the lan and working in the same working channel with the currently connected AP, however, in practical application, all APs in the same lan all work in the same working channel and have certain interference with each other, only when the APs work in different working channels respectively, the channel resources can be fully utilized, and better user experience is ensured, and if there is no other AP in the working channel where the AP currently connected with the STA is located, the automatic roaming function cannot be realized.
As described above, the current AP does not support roaming or only supports roaming in the same operating channel, and therefore, the current AP is not well suited for a local area network having multiple APs and operating in different operating channels.

Detailed Description
The technical solutions in the embodiments of the present invention will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present invention, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are only a part of the embodiments of the present invention, and not all of the embodiments. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without any inventive step, are within the scope of the present invention.
It should be noted that the APs in the lan in any embodiment of the present invention are divided into two types:
the first is an AP supporting the wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the present invention, referred to as roaming AP for short;
the second is an AP that does not support the wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the present invention, which is referred to as a general AP for short.
When any AP sends corresponding identification messages to other APs in the LAN, if the identification response messages returned by other APs can be received, the AP which can return the identification response messages is a roaming AP, and correspondingly, the AP which can not return the identification response messages is a common AP.
Referring to fig. 1, it is a flowchart of a preferred embodiment of a wireless roaming method provided by the present invention, where the method is executed by each roaming AP in a local area network, and includes steps S11 to S14:
step S11, when the STA connected with the roaming AP needs to roam to another AP in the LAN, determining a working channel to be detected and generating a corresponding detection message;
step S12, sending the detection message to the STA, so that the STA detects the working channel to be detected according to the detection message to obtain the communication quality of each AP in the working channel to be detected and returns a corresponding detection result message to the roaming AP;
step S13, according to the communication quality of each AP in the working channel to be detected recorded in the detection result message, determining a target AP and generating a corresponding roaming message;
step S14, sending the roaming packet to the STA, so that the STA roams to the destination AP according to the roaming packet.
Specifically, when an STA connected to a roaming AP needs to roam to another AP in the lan, the roaming AP first determines a working channel to be detected and generates a corresponding detection message; the detection message records all the working channels to be detected; then, the roaming AP sends the detection message to the STA, and the STA detects all the working channels to be detected after receiving the detection message, so as to obtain the communication quality between each AP and the STA in all the working channels to be detected, and returns a corresponding detection result message to the roaming AP; the roaming AP determines a target AP according to the communication quality of each AP and the STA in all the to-be-detected working channels recorded in the received detection result message, and generates a corresponding roaming message according to the target AP; and finally, the roaming AP sends the roaming message to the STA, and the STA roams to a corresponding target AP according to the received roaming message.
It should be noted that, when the STA roams to the destination AP according to the roaming message, the STA returns a corresponding roaming result message to the roaming AP, and the roaming AP determines whether the STA roams successfully according to the received roaming result message, and if the STA roams to the destination AP for multiple times and fails, it needs to detect all the working channels to be detected again, and determines a new destination AP to roam according to the method. When determining a new destination AP, the destination AP with the multiple roaming failures is removed, a new destination AP is determined in the remaining APs, and the destination AP with the multiple roaming failures is considered again after a period of time (currently set to 10 min).
For example, the roaming AP determines that a certain 3 working channels in the local area network are to-be-detected working channels, constructs a corresponding 11k message according to an 802.11k protocol, and sends the 3 to-be-detected working channels as detection objects to the STA; after receiving the 11k message, the STA detects the 3 working channels to be detected, and returns an 11k Rsp message after the detection is finished, where the 11k Rsp message includes communication quality of each AP and the STA in all the working channels to be detected by the STA, where communication quality corresponding to each AP is presented as a tuple such as < MAC, rcpi >, and rcpi represents an evaluation of the communication quality of the AP and the STA; the roaming AP selects a target AP according to an 11k Rsp message returned by the STA, constructs a corresponding 11v message according to an 802.11v protocol, fills the target AP into a message format, sends the target AP as a roaming object to the STA, and configures 11r fast switching according to the 802.11r protocol, so that the STA automatically roams to the target AP after receiving the 11v message; and when the STA roams to the target AP, returning a corresponding 11v R message, and judging whether the STA roams successfully by the roaming AP according to the received 11v R message.
It should be added that when the position of the STA connected to the roaming AP changes, the corresponding RSSI value changes, and when the RSSI value is smaller than the preset roaming threshold, the communication quality between the STA and the roaming AP cannot meet the communication requirement, which indicates that the STA needs to roam to another AP in the lan, and then the above-mentioned wireless roaming method is used to implement automatic roaming.
In the wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the roaming AP sends different working channels to be detected to the STA as detection objects, so that the STA detects the communication quality of each AP and the STA in the working channels, and the roaming AP determines a target AP according to the communication quality obtained by detection, so that the STA roams to the target AP; when the target AP is determined, whether the target AP and the roaming AP work in the same working channel or not does not need to be considered, and cross-channel roaming can be achieved; meanwhile, whether the target AP is a roaming AP supporting the wireless roaming method or a general AP not supporting the wireless roaming method does not need to be considered, so that the method can be better applied to a local area network having a plurality of APs and operating in different operating channels.
Referring to fig. 2, it is a specific flowchart of a preferred embodiment of step S11 of a wireless roaming method provided in the present invention, where the determining a working channel to be detected and generating a corresponding detection packet when an STA connected to a roaming AP needs to roam to another AP in the lan includes steps S1101 to S1103:
step 1101, when the STA connected to the roaming AP needs to roam to another AP in the lan, determining each AP meeting roaming conditions in the lan according to a pre-configured in-network AP information table;
step S1102, using a working channel in which each AP meeting roaming conditions is located in the local area network as the working channel to be detected;
step S1103, generating the corresponding detection packet according to the working channel to be detected.
Specifically, each roaming AP in the lan may pre-configure an in-network AP information table, and when an STA connected to the roaming AP needs to roam to another AP in the lan, the roaming AP may determine, according to the in-network AP information table of the roaming AP, an AP that meets a certain roaming condition among all APs in the lan, so that a working channel where the AP that meets the certain roaming condition is located is used as a working channel to be detected.
According to the wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the working channel where the AP meeting certain roaming conditions is located is used as the working channel to be detected, so that the range of the working channel to be detected can be reduced, the workload is reduced, and the roaming efficiency is improved.
In another preferred embodiment, the in-network AP information table at least records the SSID, encryption mode and working channel of each AP in the local area network except the roaming AP; the AP meeting the roaming condition is the AP with the same SSID and encryption mode as the roaming AP.
According to the wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the AP which is the same as the SSID and the encryption mode of the roaming AP is taken as the AP which accords with the roaming condition, so that the STA can selectively roam among the APs with the same SSID in the local area network, and the success rate of roaming is improved through the same SSID and the same encryption mode.
Referring to fig. 3, it is a specific flowchart of a preferred embodiment of step S13 of a wireless roaming method provided in the present invention, where the determining a destination AP and generating a corresponding roaming packet according to the communication quality of each AP in the working channel to be detected recorded in the detection result packet specifically includes steps S1301 to S1302:
step S1301, determining, according to the communication quality of each AP in the to-be-detected working channel recorded in the detection result message, an AP with the optimal communication quality, which is the same as the SSID and the encryption mode of the roaming AP, in the to-be-detected working channel, and using the AP as the target AP;
step S1302, generating the corresponding roaming packet according to the destination AP.
Specifically, the roaming AP first queries an in-network AP information table of the roaming AP according to an AP corresponding to the communication quality of each AP in a working channel to be detected recorded in the detection result message, finds out an AP that is the same as the SSID of the roaming AP and the encryption method and has the best communication quality among the APs as a target AP, and finally generates a corresponding roaming packet according to the target AP.
For example, there are 5 APs in the working channel to be detected recorded in the detection result message, which are AP1, AP2, AP3, AP4, and AP5, and the communication quality of the 5 APs is correspondingly presented as < MAC1, rcpi1>, < MAC2, rcpi2>, < MAC3, rcpi3>, < MAC4, rcpi4>, and < MAC5, rcpi5>, and by querying the in-network AP information table of the roaming AP, the APs which are the same as the SSID and the encryption mode of the roaming AP in the 5 APs are found out, including AP1, AP3, and AP4 (a corresponding AP can be uniquely determined by MAC), and then the sizes of rcpi1, rcpi3, and rcpi4 are compared, and if rcpi3 is the largest, AP3 is used as the destination AP.
In the wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the AP with the optimal communication quality in the APs with the same SSID and encryption mode as the roaming AP is taken as the target AP, the SSID, the encryption mode and the communication quality are taken as conditions for determining the roaming AP, the working channel of the target AP does not need to be considered, and whether the target AP is the roaming AP or a general AP does not need to be considered, so that the wireless roaming method is better suitable for a local area network with a plurality of APs and working in different working channels, and the communication quality is ensured.
In yet another preferred embodiment, the in-network AP information table includes a roaming AP information table and a general AP information table; wherein the content of the first and second substances,
the roaming AP information table records first entry information corresponding to all other roaming APs except the roaming AP; the first entry information comprises an SSID, an MAC address, an encryption mode, a working channel and a timestamp;
the general AP information table records second entry information corresponding to all general APs which are the same as the SSID of the roaming AP; the second entry information comprises an SSID, an MAC address, an encryption mode, a working channel and a timestamp.
It can be understood that, because the APs in the lan are divided into the roaming AP and the general AP, and the corresponding in-network AP information table is also divided into the roaming AP information table and the general AP information table, for the roaming AP, the roaming AP information table is used to record first entry information corresponding to all roaming APs except the roaming AP in the lan, and the general AP information table is used to record second entry information corresponding to all general APs in the lan, which are the same as the SSID of the roaming AP, wherein the timestamps in the first entry information and the second entry information specifically refer to the record time field of the corresponding entry in the table, and are used to record the latest update time of the entry.
In yet another preferred embodiment, the method further comprises:
when a new roaming AP joins the local area network, adding first entry information corresponding to the new roaming AP into a roaming AP information table of the roaming AP;
and when the SSID, the encryption mode or the working channel in the first entry information corresponding to other roaming APs changes, updating the corresponding first entry information in the roaming AP information table of the roaming AP.
The embodiment is a new entry mechanism and an update mechanism of a roaming AP, and specifically, all roaming APs in a lan communicate according to a synchronous communication protocol, when a new roaming AP joins the lan, the roaming AP obtains an SSID, an encryption mode, a key and a working channel of the new roaming AP through an INT message and a REQ message of the synchronous communication protocol, notifies the new roaming AP of its SSID, encryption mode, key and working channel, and adds first entry information corresponding to the new roaming AP to a roaming AP information table of the roaming AP, and accordingly, the new roaming AP also adds the first entry information corresponding to the roaming AP information table; when the SSID, encryption mode or working channel of other roaming AP changes, broadcasting the new SSID, encryption mode or working channel of the changed roaming AP into the LAN according to the synchronous communication protocol, and the roaming AP correspondingly modifies the SSID, encryption mode or working channel corresponding to the changed roaming AP in the roaming AP information table of the roaming AP according to the received new SSID, encryption mode or working channel and updates the timestamp.
The wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention can know the existence of all roaming APs except the roaming AP in the local area network in real time no matter the roaming AP newly added into the local area network or the existing roaming AP in the local area network, and obtains the corresponding first item information, thereby realizing the real-time maintenance of the roaming AP information table and providing a precondition for the realization that the STA connected with the roaming AP roams to another roaming AP in the local area network.
In yet another preferred embodiment, the method further comprises:
detecting all first entry information in the roaming AP information table in each time period, and updating a timestamp in the corresponding first entry information according to a detection result;
and when the time stamp in any first item information is not updated within a preset first time period, deleting the corresponding first item information.
The embodiment is an aging mechanism of a roaming AP, and depends on the new entry mechanism and the update mechanism in the above embodiments, specifically, for all first entry information in the roaming AP information table, each time period may detect whether each first entry information is still active, according to a synchronous communication protocol, the roaming AP broadcasts a KEEPALIVE message in each time period, other roaming APs in the local area network may reply a REQ message when receiving the KEEPALIVE message, when the roaming AP receives the REQ message replied by a certain roaming AP, it is indicated that the roaming AP is still active, and at the same time, a timestamp in the first entry information corresponding to the roaming AP is updated, if the timestamp in the certain first entry information is not updated in a preset first time period (e.g., 2 time periods), it is indicated that the roaming AP corresponding to the first entry information is not yet active, the first entry information is aged out, i.e., the first entry information is deleted from the roaming AP information table of the roaming AP.
It should be noted that the time period is generally set to 16s, and the setting of the time period cannot be too short, which may cause too many isochronous communication protocol packets, and also cannot be too long, which may cause the first entry information in the roaming AP information table not to be aged in time.
According to the wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the first item information corresponding to the roaming AP which is no longer active in the roaming AP information table is deleted, so that the real-time maintenance of the roaming AP information table is realized, and the accuracy of the first item information in the roaming AP information table is ensured.
In yet another preferred embodiment, the method further comprises:
when the WIFI of the roaming AP is started or restarted, carrying out WIFI wireless scanning on all working channels in the local area network;
and adding second entry information corresponding to all the general APs with the same SSID as the roaming AP into a general AP information table of the roaming AP according to the scanning result.
In this embodiment, an information obtaining method for a general AP information table is provided, where when WIFI of the roaming AP is started or restarted, a WIFI wireless scanning method is used to perform full channel scanning on all working channels in a local area network once, and the result obtained after the full channel scanning is SSID, encryption mode and working channel of all APs in the local area network, a general AP that is the same as SSID of the roaming AP is filtered according to the SSID, and second entry information corresponding to all the filtered general APs is added to the general AP information table of the roaming AP.
The wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention can know the existence of all general APs of which the SSID is the same as that of the roaming AP in the local area network and obtain the corresponding second entry information, thereby realizing the real-time maintenance of the general AP information table and providing a precondition for the realization that the STA connected with the roaming AP roams to another general AP in the local area network.
In yet another preferred embodiment, the method further comprises:
after performing WIFI wireless scanning on all working channels in the local area network, performing WIFI wireless scanning on one working channel in each time period according to a certain sequence, and updating second entry information in a general AP information table of the roaming AP according to a scanning result;
and when the time stamp in any second item information is not updated within a preset second time period, deleting the corresponding second item information.
Specifically, for the acquisition of the information in the general AP information table of the roaming AP, because WIFI wireless scanning may have a large influence on wireless new energy, after performing full channel scanning on all working channels in the local area network once, it is not preferable to continue full channel scanning, in the following time, one working channel is scanned in each time period according to a certain sequence (for example, according to the sequence of working channel numbers from small to large), second entry information corresponding to a newly scanned general AP which is the same as the SSID of the roaming AP is added to the general AP information table, the corresponding timestamp is updated for the existing second entry information, all working channels in the local area network can be completely scanned after 20 time periods, if the timestamp in a certain second entry information is not updated within a preset second time period (for example, 40 time periods), it is indicated that the general AP corresponding to the second entry information is no longer active, and the second entry information is aged, that is, the second entry information is deleted from the general AP information table of the roaming AP.
The wireless roaming method provided by the embodiment of the invention can update the second entry information in the general AP information table in time and delete the second entry information corresponding to the general AP which is not active any more, thereby realizing the real-time maintenance of the general AP information table, ensuring the accuracy of the second entry information in the general AP information table, and minimizing the influence of WIFI wireless scanning on wireless performance by adopting a method of only scanning one working channel in one period.
An embodiment of the present invention further provides a roaming AP, which is shown in fig. 4 and is a block diagram of a preferred embodiment of a roaming AP provided by the present invention, and includes a processor 10, a memory 20, and a computer program stored in the memory 20 and configured to be executed by the processor 10, where the processor 10, when executing the computer program, implements the wireless roaming method described in any of the above embodiments.
Preferably, the computer program can be divided into one or more modules/units (e.g. computer program 1, computer program 2,) which are stored in the memory 20 and executed by the processor 10 to accomplish the present invention. The one or more modules/units may be a series of computer program instruction segments capable of performing certain functions, which are used to describe the execution of the computer program in the roaming AP.
The Processor 10 may be a Central Processing Unit (CPU), other general purpose Processor, a Digital Signal Processor (DSP), an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) or other Programmable logic device, a discrete Gate or transistor logic device, a discrete hardware component, etc., the general purpose Processor may be a microprocessor, or the Processor 10 may be any conventional Processor, the Processor 10 is a control center of the roaming AP, and various interfaces and lines are used to connect various parts of the whole roaming AP.
The memory 20 mainly includes a program storage area that may store an operating system, an application program required for at least one function, and the like, and a data storage area that may store related data and the like. In addition, the memory 20 may be a high speed random access memory, may also be a non-volatile memory, such as a plug-in hard disk, a Smart Media Card (SMC), a Secure Digital (SD) Card, a Flash Card (Flash Card), and the like, or the memory 20 may also be other volatile solid state memory devices.

To sum up, the roaming AP sends different working channels to be detected to the STA as detection objects, so that the STA detects the communication quality between each AP in the working channels and the roaming AP determines a target AP according to the communication quality obtained by the detection, and thus the STA roams to the target AP; when the target AP is determined, whether the target AP and the roaming AP work in the same working channel or not does not need to be considered, and cross-channel roaming can be achieved; meanwhile, whether the target AP is a roaming AP supporting the wireless roaming method or a general AP not supporting the wireless roaming method does not need to be considered, so that the method can be better applied to a local area network having a plurality of APs and operating in different operating channels.
The above description is only a preferred embodiment of the present invention, and it should be noted that, for those skilled in the art, several modifications and variations can be made without departing from the technical principle of the present invention, and these modifications and variations should also be regarded as the protection scope of the present invention.
