Abstract

Description

可重新灌墨的打印机印笔
本发明涉及一种墨源耗尽后可重新灌墨的打印机印笔。
某些喷墨式打印机,包括美国加利福尼亚洲帕洛阿尔托市的Hewlett-Palkard公司以Deskjet的商名销售的喷墨式打印机在内,采用可更换的装有墨源的印笔。打印头附装在印笔体上。打印头工作时用以在印笔扫描整个纸面时在受控制的情况下将小量的墨滴通过打印头的孔喷出,从而印制出所需要的图象或文本。
印笔的供墨或蓄墨部分装有网状聚氨酯泡沫材料。泡沫材料的毛细管作用使印笔的打印头具有所需要的反向压力,以防止油墨在打印头不工作时漏出。
过去,空印笔是不重新灌墨的,即使它本来完全可以发挥作用。相反,空印笔废弃不用,换上新的灌满油墨的印笔。用户没有适当工具,例如在加压情况下往泡沫材料中注墨用的针条,要往泡沫材料上加墨是相当困难的。印笔重灌,重要的一点是重灌过程要较快地完成,这样打印头孔才不致于因重灌过程拖长而被干涸的墨汁堵住。
本发明的目的是提供一种打印机印笔的油墨快易重灌系统,系统所含有墨源处在存放在印笔中的泡沫材料中。
根据本发明的一种打印机用的印笔,其特征在于,它包括:
底座,上面附有打印头,底座本身有底壁;
管件,附在底壁上,该管件有一个内通道和外表面,管件的内端向外从底座向外伸出,管件有一个屏网附在内端的最外面部分;
导管,在底壁中形成,使流体可以在管件通道与打印头中流通;
墨盒,构制得使其可拆卸地与底座接合,墨盒的盒体中装有带墨源的泡沫材料,盒体有侧壁和底部,底部上开有孔口,管件的内端装配在孔口中,在墨盒移入底座中与底座接合时使泡沫材料压在屏网上;且
盒体的孔口基本上开设在底部中心,使泡沫材料在墨盒与底座接合时基本上围绕着管件)内端的外表面;
所述的印笔还包括通风孔,开设在底座上,供排出因墨盒与底座接合和分离而受排挤的空气之用。
这种系统能快速地用灌好油墨的墨盒替换墨源耗尽的墨盒,从而避免了打印头孔干涸和填墨的问题。这样,特定印笔的同一个打印头就可与许多墨盒配用。
图1是按本发明制取的可重新灌墨的印笔的透视图。
图2是图1印笔的剖视图。
按本发明制造的可重新灌墨的印笔10(图1和图2)可以装在打印机的滑架上。这种打印机的一个例子有Hewlwtt-Packard公司制造的Deskjek打印机系列。印笔10包括底座20,底座20与装有印笔墨源的墨盒22接合。空印笔是通过用灌满油墨的墨盒替换空墨盒22而重灌的。
更具体地说,印笔底座20的底侧装有打印头26,打印头26上含有呈喷嘴状的许多小孔(图中未示出)。墨滴通过喷嘴喷射出去,在通过打印机往前送的印纸上形成字符或其它打印资料。每当印笔10装在打印机滑架上时,打印头26固定在通过打印机往前送的印纸上方相对于打印机滑架的预定位置的。本领域的技术人员都知道,打印头的每一个喷嘴是与一个薄膜电阻器连接的。电阻器选择性地用足量的电流激发(加热),以便将喷嘴附近的油墨蒸发掉。油墨受热膨胀,就近使墨滴通过喷嘴滴出。
接到各喷嘴电阻器的导线是装在柔性电路28上的,电路28则装设在印笔底座20的底壁32和前壁34上。各电阻器激励线路端部的电路触片30(为清楚起见图中加以放大)与装在滑架上相应电路上的小触片相连接。激励喷嘴电阻器的信号由微处理机和有关的激励器产生,加到电阻丝激励线路上。
底座20和滑架最好由诸如聚砜之类的注模塑料制成。管件40通常呈圆柱形,与印笔底座20的底壁形成一个整体。管件40的内端44从底座壁32向上突出。管件40的最顶端44被覆有细目屏网46,在热状态下在管件端44上撑开固定(staked)。管件的下端52处于在管件40的下端52与打印头26之间延伸的内导管50中流通的流体中。内导管50可以由两个相应的槽板、形成导管的组合板和印笔底座20的底壁32热焊在一起而构成。
屏网46可让液体透过,但其网目细得足以阻止气泡或杂质通过。当打印头26工作而从喷嘴喷出油墨时,油墨从充有泡沫材料的盒子22(下面即将介绍)通过屏网、管件40和导管50抽取。
在一个最佳实施例中,管件的内部通道58有一对彼此间隔一段距离的竖槽60(从图2中可以看到其中的一个)。竖槽60为通道58附近的油墨提供连续的通路。竖槽60的尺寸取得颇小,足以防止可能进入通道58的气泡进入竖槽中,堵住油墨使其不流过竖槽。因此,竖槽60使油墨通过管件时畅通无阻。
印笔盒22通常有一个盒体25,盒体25装有原先用油墨浸透到饱和状态的网状聚氨酯泡沫材料92。盒体25底部80开有圆孔82,圆孔82的边缘84下凹。O形环86坐落并固定在孔82中。灌有油墨的印笔盒,其孔82最好用粘结带密封件(图中未示出)作为保护盖盖住,在印笔盒要固定到印笔底座之前再将密封件除去。
顶壳25装有一个盖90,盖90上开有贯穿的端口,供流体在壳体内与周围大气之间流通。
盒22和底座20的尺寸取得使这两个部件易于接合也易于拆开。从图2中可以看得最清楚盒体25靠住盒体的底壁32装配。盒体前壁98紧贴地坐落在盒体前壁34的内表面上。盒体的侧壁97(图1)和99(图2)装配在盒体两相对的侧壁100(图1中只看到一个侧壁)之间。
管件40和盒体25底部孔眼82最好配置成当盒体和底座合时,管件的上端44通过盒体孔82伸出的长度足以将管件附近的泡沫材料压靠在屏网46上,从而避免空气陷入泡沫材料与屏网46之间的空间。空气陷入该空间会妨碍油墨从泡沫材料流入管件的。
已经发现,当管件40与盒体各侧壁(97,98,99,101)之间的间距足够宽裕时,泡沫材料通常就能均匀地压在屏网46的整个表面部位(从而确保没有空气逗留在泡沫材料与屏网之间)。管件40与侧壁具有足够的间距之所以能使泡沫材料92压在屏网的整个上表面是因为屏网上下的泡沫材料基本上环绕着管件内端44的外表面41所致。
管件40与最近的侧壁的间距最好相当于管件内端44的一个外径(图2中的“D”)。这样的间距确保泡沫材料达到上述的压缩程度。
当印笔盒体25与底座20接合时,上述O形环86紧贴地装配在管件40的外表面41上。O形环86的作用是防止空气在壳体25与管件40之间流向屏网。在最佳实施例中,管件40的外表面41逐渐变窄,从而使管件的总直径在管件40与底壁32的相会处有点急剧地增大。当盒体25与底座20完全接合(即盒体底部80紧挨着底座底壁32)时,O形环86就被挤压成紧密密封的状态。
印笔底座20的座壁32上开有通风孔102。在图1和图2所示的实施例中,通风孔102采用两个孔眼,但也可以采用任何数量或大小的孔眼。这些通风孔使原本可能陷在壳体与底座之间的空气在壳体25与底座20接合时可以逸出。如果没有这些通风孔,有可能在壳体与底座接合时将底部80与壁32之间的空气压缩而迫使空气流入管件的通道58中,从而使油墨有害地泵送入(漏入)打印头26中。同样,通风孔102使空气可以在卸除盒22时流入壁80与32之间的空间,从而避免在壁80与32之间产生吸力,将油墨从底座管件40或壳体孔82抽出,这是人们所不希望发生的。
在一个最佳实施例中,盒体25借助于夹持机构110与底座20保持接合(图2)。夹持机构有一个凸部(dimple)112,从壳体25前侧壁98的外表面突出。该凸部在壳体与底座正确接合时嵌入印笔底座20的座壁34上开设的孔114中。侧壁34的内表面最好开有槽116,从孔114向上延伸并邻接孔114。槽116起导向的作用,供壳体25与底座20接合时承接凸部112,并将其引入114中。普通的技术人员都不难理解,使盒体与底座保持接合的夹持装置可以取任何数目。
当印笔盒22空了时,例如可抓住盖90将空盒22从底座(参看图2中的虚线)提起。卸下盖住新充满油墨的印笔盒的孔82的粘结带,再将印笔盒装上,即将印笔盒和底座彼此相向推入,直到夹持机构扣接在一起为止。
虽然上面是结合一些可供选择的最佳实施例说明本发明的内容,但普通技术人员都会理解,对这里所述的机理和方法是可以进行各种修改和就变更,而本发明仍然为本说明书所附的 及3其等效方案所定。

Claims (4)

1.一种打印机用的印笔,其特征在于,它包括:
底座(20),上面附有打印头(26),底座本身有底壁;
管件(40),附在底壁上,该管件有一个内通道和外表面,管件的内端向外从底座(20)向外伸出,管件有一个屏网附在内端的最外面部分;
导管(50),在底壁中形成,使流体可以在管件(40)通道与打印头(26)中流通;
墨盒(22),构制得使其可拆卸地与底座(20)接合,墨盒的盒体(25)中装有带墨源的泡沫材料,盒体有侧壁和底部,底部上开有孔口,管件(40)的内端装配在孔口中,在墨盒移入底座中与底座接合时使泡沫材料压在屏网上;且
盒体(25)的孔口基本上开设在底部中心,使泡沫材料在墨盒(22)与底座(20)接合时基本上围绕着管件(40)内端的外表面;
所述的印笔还包括通风孔(102),开设在底座(20)上,供排出因墨盒(22)与底座接合和分离而受排挤的空气之用。
2.如权利要求1所述的印笔,其特征在于,盒体(25)上附有弹性的密封环,围绕着底部孔口,供密封管件(40)与盒体孔口之间的空间用,
管件(40)的外表面逐渐变窄,供盒(22)移入底座(20)与底座(20)接合时逐步增加加到密封环上的压力。
3.如权利要求1所述的印笔,其特征在于,还包括第一和第二夹持件,所述夹持件分别装设在盒(22)和底座(20)上,这些夹持件在盒(22)移入底座、与底座接合时可分离地彼此锁定在一起,从而使盒(22)保持与底座接合。
4.如权利要求1所述的印笔,其特征在于,管件(40)内端有个外径,盒体(25)有侧壁,当盒(22)与底座(20)接合时,管件在壳体(25)的侧壁之间的伸出,这时管件与各侧壁相隔至少大约一个直径的距离。
