Abstract

The application provides a display device and a method of manufacturing the same. The display device comprises a body part and a display module. The display module includes a display unit, a circuit module, and a transparent panel. The transparent panel forms at least a part of a housing of the display device, and the display unit includes: a polarizing plate disposed below the transparent panel; and the flexible display panel is arranged below the polarizing plate and is electrically connected with the circuit module. The polarizing plate and the flexible display panel are formed in one body. The display unit includes a middle portion and two bending portions. The two bent portions are bent downward from left and right ends of the middle portion, and a notch is formed at an upper end of the middle portion. The display device can further improve the screen occupation ratio and realize full-screen frame-free display.

Description

Display device and method of manufacturing the same
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a display device and a method of manufacturing the same, and more particularly, to a display device without a side bezel and a method of manufacturing the same.
Background
The comprehensive screen mobile phone is the mainstream of the mobile phone market, and at present, in order to improve the screen occupation ratio, the following modes are mainly adopted: (1) the frame is reduced; (2) the edge bending is adopted to reduce the frame and improve the screen occupation ratio; (3) reducing a lower frame by adopting a gasket bending (pad bending) technology and under-screen fingerprint identification; (4) and a top end groove is adopted to embed the telephone receiver and the front camera into the groove, so that the screen occupation ratio is further improved.
As shown in fig. 1, a 3D Rigid Cover 101 (ridge Cover) is adopted to perform 3D bonding with a flexible display 102 (e.g., a flexible AMOLED display) so as to shorten the left and right bezel effect, but due to the manufacturing of the 3D Rigid Cover 101, the radian of the left and right vertical angles cannot be realized at present, and the 3D bonding of the vertical angle cannot be realized by the present bonding process.
As shown in fig. 1, in the prior art, the metal frame 103 mainly includes an upper frame and a lower frame, the upper frame has a receiver and a camera, and the lower frame has a Chip On Film (COF) and a Chip On Film (COF) bending/T-flexible printed circuit (T-FPC) bending, which results in a larger upper and lower frame and a smaller operable area 104 of the mobile phone.
Therefore, a mobile phone with a higher screen ratio is required.
Disclosure of Invention
To address at least one of the above-mentioned drawbacks, the present application provides a display device and a method of manufacturing the display device.
In order to achieve the purpose, the technical scheme adopted by the application is as follows:
according to a first aspect of embodiments of the present application, there is provided a display device including a body part and a display module, characterized in that the display module includes a display unit, a circuit module, and a transparent panel forming at least a part of a housing of the display device, the display unit includes: a polarizing plate disposed below the transparent panel; the flexible display panel is arranged below the polarizing plate and electrically connected with the circuit module, wherein the polarizing plate and the flexible display panel are formed into a whole, the display unit comprises an intermediate part and two bending parts, the two bending parts are bent downwards from the left end and the right end of the intermediate part, and a notch is formed at the upper end of the intermediate part.
Optionally, the display unit further includes a touch panel disposed between the polarizer and the flexible display panel, electrically connected to the circuit module, and integrated with the polarizer and the flexible display panel.
Alternatively, the body part includes a top part, a bottom part, and a body part connecting the top part and the bottom part, a front surface and two side surfaces of the body part form a recess part, a thickness of the recess part corresponds to a thickness of the display unit, two sides of a rear surface of the body part adjacent to the two side surfaces form a panel accommodating part and a circuit module accommodating part, respectively, and the circuit module is disposed in the circuit module accommodating part.
Optionally, the main body portion is provided with a speaker and a camera, the positions of the speaker and the camera corresponding to the positions of the notches, and the top portion is provided with a SIM card slot.
Optionally, the display device is a mobile phone or the display device is for a mobile phone.
Optionally, the middle portion extends on the front surface of the main body portion, one of the two bent portions extends on one side surface of the main body portion, and the other of the two bent portions covers the other side surface of the main body portion and further extends into the panel accommodating portion.
Optionally, the portions of the two bent portions on the two sides of the main body portion are at an angle of 90 degrees with respect to the middle portion.

According to a second aspect of embodiments of the present application, there is provided a method of manufacturing a display device, the method including the steps of: providing a flexible display panel, a touch panel and a polarizing plate, and performing module assembly bonding on the flexible display panel, the touch panel and the polarizing plate to form a display unit; cutting the display unit to form a notch on one side of the display unit; providing a main body part, arranging the display unit above the main body part, and bending two sides of the display unit to be attached to two side surfaces of the main body part; two sides of the rear surface of the body part, which are adjacent to the two side surfaces, are respectively provided with a panel accommodating part and a circuit module accommodating part, two bent parts are formed on two sides of the bent display unit, the two bent parts have different lengths, and the longer one of the two bent parts is further bent into the panel accommodating part; providing a circuit module, and enabling the circuit module to be arranged in the circuit module accommodating part; electrically connecting the circuit module with the flexible display panel and the touch panel; providing a transparent panel, and enabling the transparent panel to cover and be attached to the outside of the display unit; and providing a rear cover plate, covering the rear surface of the body part by the rear cover plate, and enclosing the transparent panel and the rear cover plate into a ring.
The technical scheme provided by the embodiment of the application can have the following beneficial effects: the display device can further improve the screen ratio and realize no frame on the left side and the right side; and the control function can be realized while the display can be performed on the side surface of the display device.

Detailed Description
The present application will now be described in detail with reference to specific embodiments thereof as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. These embodiments are not intended to limit the present application, and structural, methodological, or functional changes made by those skilled in the art according to these embodiments are included in the scope of the present application.
The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of the application. As used in this application and the appended claims, the singular forms "a", "an", and "the" are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It should also be understood that the term "and/or" as used herein refers to and encompasses any and all possible combinations of one or more of the associated listed items.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present application. As shown in fig. 2, the display apparatus 100 includes a body part 110, a display module 130, and a rear cover plate 150 (see fig. 6 and 8). The body portion 110 includes a top portion 112, a bottom portion 114, and a body portion 116 connecting the top portion 112 and the bottom portion 114 (see fig. 4 and 5). An upper portion of the front surface of the main body portion 116 may be provided with an earpiece (speaker) 1163 and a camera 1164. The top surface of the top portion 112 may be provided with a card receptacle 1122, and the card receptacle 1122 may be a SIM card slot, a storage card slot (e.g., an SD card slot, a TF card slot, etc.), or a combination thereof. The display module 130 covers or is attached to the upper surface and both side surfaces of the main body 116. The edges of the body portion 116 and the notches corresponding to the display unit 132 may be coated with waterproof glue. The notch may be formed with a volume adjustment device 1165 at one side of the body portion 116. The volume adjusting means 1165 may be implemented by a Force Touch technology, thereby enabling control of volume adjustment at the side of the main body portion 116 while the display module 130 covers the entire side surface of the main body portion 116. The side of the display device 100 may display communication messages, time information, power, weather information, etc., and may adopt an AOD (off screen display) mode. The display device 100 is a cellular phone (mobile phone) or can be used for a cellular phone to constitute a part of the cellular phone.
Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of a display module 130 of the display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present application. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the body part 110 of the display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present application. Fig. 5 is another perspective view of the body part 110 of the display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present application. Referring to fig. 3, the display module 130 includes a display unit 132, a transparent panel 134, and a circuit module 136. The display unit 132 is electrically connected to the circuit module 136. The display unit 132 includes a polarizing plate 1328 and a flexible display panel 1322 disposed below the polarizing plate 1328. Optionally, the display unit 132 further includes a cover film (cover film)1327 disposed above the polarizing plate 1328. Optionally, the display unit 132 further includes a touch panel 1326 disposed between the polarizing plate 1328 and the flexible display panel 1322 (depending on whether the display device needs to provide a function of touch operation). The cover film 1327, the polarizing plate 1328, the touch panel 1326, and the flexible display panel 1322 may be bonded together by die bonding, and optical glue may be applied between the cover film 1327, the polarizing plate 1328, the touch panel 1326, and the flexible display panel 1322. The transparent panel 134 is attached above the display unit 132, and has an area smaller than that of the display unit 132. The display unit 132 may be divided into a middle portion 1323 and two bent portions 1324 disposed at both sides of the middle portion 1323 in the horizontal direction. The two bent portions 1324 may not be covered by the transparent panel 134. Preferably, the transparent panel 134 and the back cover plate 150 together surround the body portion 116 a full circle to form a ring shape. Preferably, the transparent panel 134 covers the front surface and both side surfaces of the main body 116, and the rear cover plate 150 covers the rear surface of the main body 116.
With continued reference to fig. 3-5, the display unit 132 of fig. 3 is in an unfolded state. An upper portion of the display unit 132 may be centrally provided with a notch. The transparent panel 134 may form a notch corresponding to the notch on the display unit 132, or the transparent panel 134 may not form a notch thereon. The notches correspond to the positions of the earpiece 1163 and the camera 1164 when the display unit 132 is mounted to the body portion 110. The bent portion 1324 may be integrally bent downward with respect to the intermediate portion 1323. Preferably, the bent portion 1324 may be integrally bent downward by about 90 degrees with respect to the middle portion 1323. An off-screen fingerprint recognition module may be disposed below the display unit 132. The circuit module 136 may include an integrated circuit portion 1362 and a flexible printed circuit board 1364. Both sides (upper and lower sides in fig. 5) of the back surface of the main body portion 116 are provided with panel accommodating portions 1161 and circuit module accommodating portions 1162 in the form of recesses, respectively. The circuit module 136 may be disposed longitudinally (a direction defined by top and bottom ends of the display module, a left-right direction in fig. 3) below the display unit 132, preferably, in the circuit module accommodating portion 1162 (see fig. 5). The two bent portions 1324 of the display unit 132 may have different lengths. One of the two bent portions 1324 may be further bent to the back surface of the main body portion 116 after being bent with respect to the middle portion 1323, and preferably, is accommodated in the panel accommodating portion 1161. The portions of the longer of the above-mentioned bends on the sides and back of the main body portion 116 may be at an angle of less than 90 degrees to each other, preferably between 75 and 90 degrees. The body portion 116 also has a recessed portion 1160. The recessed portion 1160 is a space on the front surface (upper surface in fig. 4) and both sides of the main body portion 116 that is indented with respect to the top portion 112 and the bottom portion 114. The thickness of the recessed portion 1160 may generally correspond to the thickness of the display unit 132. Alternatively, the thickness of the recess 1160 may substantially correspond to the sum of the thicknesses of the display unit 132 and the transparent panel 134. The body portion 116 may have a hollow design in which a battery, CPU circuitry, etc. are disposed.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the rear cover plate 150 of the display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present application. Referring to fig. 5 and 6, the rear cover plate 150 may be snapped on the rear surface of the body portion 116, and the upper and lower ends of the rear cover plate 150 are engaged with the bottom surface of the top portion 112 and the top surface of the bottom portion 114, respectively. The rear cover plate 150 may also be coupled to the body portion 116 by a conventional manner such as by a threaded engagement. As shown in fig. 6, the left and right sides of the rear cover plate 150 may be thicker than the middle portion, and the thickness thereof may gradually increase from somewhere in the middle portion to one side so as to match the inclined portion on the rear surface of the main body portion 116 (see fig. 5), so that the rear surface of the display device 100 finally assumes a flat shape. The rear cover plate 150 may also have a uniform thickness.
Fig. 7 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a display module 130 of the display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present application. As shown in fig. 7, the transparent panel 134 is bent together with the display unit 132 and has a shape to be fitted to each other. In this embodiment, the bent portion 1324 on the left side is longer than the bent portion 1324 on the right side, and is further bent by itself. Also, the flexible printed circuit board 1364 is provided at the right side, near the bent portion 1324 of the near side.
FIG. 8 is a schematic end view of a display device according to an embodiment of the present application. In this embodiment, the panel accommodating parts 1161 and the circuit module accommodating parts 1162 may be formed at both left and right sides of the upper surface of the rear cover plate 150. The rear surface of the body portion 116 is formed as a plane.
A manufacturing process of the display device 100 will be described below. First, the flexible display panel 1322, the touch panel 1326, and the polarizer 1328 (optionally, the cover film 1327 may be further provided) are provided and die-bonded to form the display unit 132. The display unit 132 is cut to form a notch centrally on the upper side of the display unit 132. Providing a main body 110, disposing the display unit 132 above the main body 110, and bending two sides of the display unit 132 to abut against two side surfaces of the main body 110. Left and right sides of the rear surface of the body part 110 adjacent to both side surfaces form a panel accommodating part 1161 and a circuit module accommodating part 1162, respectively. Two bent portions 1324 are formed at both sides of the bent display unit 132. The two bent portions 1324 have different lengths, the longer of the two being further bent into the panel receiving portion 1161. A circuit module 136 is provided such that the circuit module 136 is disposed in the circuit module accommodating portion 1162. The circuit module 136 is connected to the display unit 132. A transparent panel 134 is provided, such that the transparent panel 134 covers and adheres to the outside of the display unit 132. A rear cover plate 150 is provided such that the rear cover plate 150 covers the rear surface of the body part 110, and the transparent panel 134 and the rear cover plate 150 surround in a ring shape.
The display device 100 of the present application can achieve a completely frameless side display effect, and the top and bottom frames are also greatly reduced compared to the prior art. In addition, the display device 100 of the present application can also realize the display of the side bezel.

Claims (8)

1. A display device comprising a body portion and a display module, characterized in that the display module comprises a display unit, a circuit module and a transparent panel forming at least a part of a housing of the display device, the display unit comprising:
a polarizing plate disposed below the transparent panel;
a flexible display panel disposed below the polarizer and electrically connected to the circuit module,
wherein the polarizing plate and the flexible display panel are formed as one body, the display unit includes a middle portion and two bending portions, the two bending portions are bent downward from left and right ends of the middle portion, and an upper end of the middle portion forms a notch, the body portion includes a top portion, a bottom portion, and a main body portion connecting the top portion and the bottom portion, one of the two bending portions is further bent to a back surface of the main body portion after being bent with respect to the middle portion, the display device further includes a rear cover plate, the rear cover plate and the transparent panel are enclosed into a ring to cover a front surface, a back surface, and two side surfaces of the main body portion, left and right sides of the rear cover plate are thicker than the middle portion, and a thickness of the rear cover plate is gradually increased from the middle portion to either one of the left and right sides,
wherein the front surface and the two side surfaces of the main body part are indented with respect to the top and the bottom to form a recess, the recess has a thickness corresponding to that of the display unit, two sides of the rear surface of the main body part adjacent to the two side surfaces respectively form a panel accommodating part and a circuit module accommodating part, the circuit module is disposed in the circuit module accommodating part, and the top and the bottom have widths greater than that of the main body part.

providing a flexible display panel, a touch panel and a polarizing plate, and performing module assembly bonding on the flexible display panel, the touch panel and the polarizing plate to form a display unit;
cutting the display unit to form a notch on one side of the display unit;
providing a main body part, arranging the display unit above the main body part, and bending two sides of the display unit to be attached to two side surfaces of the main body part;
two sides of the rear surface of the body part, which are adjacent to the two side surfaces, are respectively provided with a panel accommodating part and a circuit module accommodating part, two bent parts are formed on two sides of the bent display unit, the two bent parts have different lengths, and the longer one of the two bent parts is further bent into the panel accommodating part;
providing a circuit module, and enabling the circuit module to be arranged in the circuit module accommodating part;
electrically connecting the circuit module with the flexible display panel and the touch panel;
providing a transparent panel, and enabling the transparent panel to cover and be attached to the outside of the display unit;
providing a rear cover plate, covering a rear surface of the body part, and enclosing the transparent panel and the rear cover plate in a ring shape to cover the front surface, the rear surface and the two side surfaces of the main body part, the left and right sides of the rear cover plate being thicker than a middle part, and the thickness of the rear cover plate gradually increasing from the middle part to either of the left and right sides.
