Description

Image input/output switching method and electronic device
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to the field of image processing technologies, and in particular, to a switching method capable of automatically switching image input/output and an electronic device, so as to switch the electronic device to an image source device or an image destination device.
Background
In an age of information development, an electronic device in the prior art may have both an image input function and an image output function. Furthermore, the electronic device (e.g., a one-piece computer) in the prior art may be used as a source device (source device) for transmitting display signals to an external device for displaying, or may be used as a sink device (sink device) for displaying display signals transmitted from the external device. Therefore, the electronic device (e.g. an integrally formed computer) in the prior art needs to have two image ports to implement the image input function and the image output function respectively.
However, the video port for the display output function and the video port for the display input function do not operate simultaneously, and one video port is always idle. In addition, the specifications of the two image ports of the electronic device of the prior art are the same, and a user may possibly mistake the functions of the two image ports to be regarded as a fault of the electronic device. Therefore, if two image ports can be integrated, the above problem can be solved.
Disclosure of Invention
The present disclosure is directed to an image input/output switching method and an electronic device, which can utilize the same image port to connect an external device to determine whether the electronic device is to be an image source device or an image destination device, so as to transmit a display signal to the external device for displaying (when the electronic device is the image source device) or to display the display signal transmitted by the external device (when the electronic device is the image destination device). Accordingly, the image input/output switching method and the electronic device of the present disclosure do not require the use of two image ports as in the electronic device of the prior art, so that the user is not plugged into the wrong image port.
In one embodiment, an electronic device for switching to an image source device or an image target device is provided. The electronic device comprises an image processing module, a display module, a storage element, an input/output module and a controller. The display module is electrically connected with the image processing module. The storage device stores a first Extended Display Identification Data (EDID). The input/output module is electrically connected with an external device and selectively electrically connected with the image processing module or the display module. The controller is coupled with the input/output module, the storage element and the display module and judges whether the external equipment reads the first EDID. If the controller judges that the external equipment reads the first EDID, the controller switches the electronic device to be an image target device and controls the input/output module to be electrically connected with the display module so as to transmit a first image signal to the display module through the input/output module and display the first image signal on the display module. And if the controller judges that the external equipment does not read the first EDID, the controller reads a second EDID from the external equipment and judges whether the second EDID is read by the external equipment. If the controller judges that the second EDID read from the external equipment is available, the controller switches the electronic device to be an image source device, controls the input/output module to be electrically connected with the image processing module, provides the image processing module with a second image signal transmitted to the external equipment through the input/output module, and displays the second image signal on the external equipment.
Preferably, if the controller determines that the second EDID of the external device is not read, the controller controls the display module to display a user control switching message.
Preferably, if the controller determines that the second EDID is read from the external device, the controller provides the image processing module to transmit the second image signal to the display module, and controls the display module to display the second image signal.
Preferably, the input/output module includes an image port and a switch. The image port is electrically connected between the external device and the controller and provides communication between the external device and the controller. The switcher is electrically connected with the image port and the controller, and the controller controls the switcher to be electrically connected with the image processing module or the display module.
Preferably, the display module includes a display and a source selector. The source selector is electrically connected with the controller and the display, and the controller controls the source selector to be electrically connected with the switcher or the image processing module. If the controller controls the source selector to be electrically connected with the switcher, the source selector receives the first image signal, and the display displays the first image signal. If the controller controls the source selector to be electrically connected with the image processing module, the source selector receives the second image signal, and the display displays the second image signal.
Preferably, if the controller controls the source selector to be electrically connected to the switch, the source selector is switched to the transmission interface conforming to the first image signal, and if the controller controls the source selector to be electrically connected to the image processing module, the source selector is switched to the transmission interface conforming to the second image signal.
Preferably, the electronic device further comprises a manual switch button electrically connected to the controller, and the controller is controlled by the manual switch button to forcibly electrically connect the input/output module to the image processing module or the display module.
In another embodiment, the present disclosure provides an image input/output switching method, which is applied to an electronic device and used for switching the electronic device to be an image source device or an image target device. The image input/output switching method includes the steps of: (A) judging whether the external equipment reads first Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) or not when the external equipment is electrically connected with the external equipment; (B) if the external equipment reads the first EDID, switching the electronic device into an image target device, and regarding the external equipment as an image source device so that the external equipment can transmit a first image signal to the electronic device through the input/output module and display the first image signal on the electronic device; (C) if the external equipment is judged not to read the first EDID, reading a second EDID from the external equipment, and judging whether the second EDID read from the external equipment exists or not; and (D) if the second EDID read to the external equipment is judged, switching the electronic device into an image source device, and regarding the external equipment as an image target device so as to enable the electronic device to transmit a second image signal to the external equipment and display the second image signal on the external equipment.
To further clarify the features and technical content of the present disclosure, reference is made to the following detailed description and accompanying drawings of the present disclosure, which are provided for the purpose of illustration only and are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.

Detailed Description
Hereinafter, the present disclosure will be described in detail by way of illustration of the drawings and various exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure. The disclosed concepts may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the exemplary embodiments set forth herein. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals may be used to designate similar components.
The image input/output switching method and the electronic device provided by the embodiment of the disclosure determine to switch the electronic device to be an image source device or an image target device according to an external device electrically connected. When the electronic device is used as an image source device, the electronic device transmits a display signal to the external device for displaying. When the electronic device is used as the image target device, the electronic device displays the display signal transmitted by the external device. Therefore, the electronic device provided by the embodiment of the disclosure uses only one image port to realize switching the electronic device to be the image source device or the image destination device, so that a user does not plug in a wrong image port due to the fact that the functions of two image ports of the electronic device in the prior art are mistaken. The image input/output switching method and the electronic device provided by the embodiments of the disclosure will be further described below.
First, please refer to fig. 1, which shows a schematic diagram of an electronic device provided in an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in fig. 1, the electronic apparatus 100 determines to switch to the image source device or the image destination device according to the electrically connected external device 50. In this embodiment, the electronic device 100 may be a notebook computer, an all-in-one computer, a smart phone, or other electronic devices that can be used as both a video source device and a video destination device. The electronic device 100 includes an image processing module 140, a display module 150, a storage device 130, an input/output module 110, and a controller 120. The controller 120 is coupled to the input/output module 110, the storage device 130 and the display module 150. The display module 150 is coupled to the image processing module 140, and the input/output module 110 is selectively electrically connected to the image processing module 140 or the display module 150.
The storage device 130 stores a first Extended Display Identification Data (EDID). More specifically, the first EDID represents the display capability of the electronic device 100, i.e. the data related to the screen resolution of the display module 150, so that the external device 50 can transmit the video information conforming to the screen resolution of the display module 150.
When the input/output module 110 is electrically connected to the external device 50, the controller 120 determines whether the external device 50 reads the first EDID. If the controller 120 determines that the external device 50 reads the first EDID, it indicates that the external device 50 is the image source device (i.e. has the first image signal Im1), and wants to obtain the display capability of the display module 150 of the electronic device 100, so as to transmit a first image signal Im1 to the electronic device 100 for displaying. At this time, the controller 120 switches the electronic device 100 to be the image target device, and controls the input/output module 110 to be electrically connected to the display module 150. The controller 120 provides a first image signal Im1 to the external device 50 through the i/o module 110 and controls the display module 150 to display a first image signal Im 1.
If the controller 120 determines that the external device 50 does not read the first EDID, it indicates that the external device 50 may be an image target device. At this time, the controller 120 will read a second EDID from the external device 50 and determine whether there is a second EDID read from the external device 50. Furthermore, the second EDID represents the display capability of the external device 50, i.e. the data related to the screen resolution of the external device 50, so that the electronic apparatus 100 can transmit the video information conforming to the screen resolution of the external device 50.
If the controller 120 determines that the second EDID is read from the external device 50, the controller 120 determines that the external device 50 is the image target apparatus. The controller 120 switches the electronic device 100 to be an image source device, and controls the input/output module 110 to be electrically connected to the image processing module 150. The controller 120 provides the image processing module 140 to transmit a second image signal Im2 to the external device 50 via the input/output module 110, and displays the second image signal Im2 on the external device 50. In addition, the controller 120 may further provide the image processing module 140 to transmit the second image signal Im2 to the display module 150, and control the display module 150 to display the second image signal Im 2. Of course, the controller 120 may also provide the image processing module 140 to transmit a third image signal Im3 different from the second image signal Im2 to the display module 150, and control the display module 150 to display the third image signal Im3, which is not limited by the embodiment of the disclosure.
On the contrary, if the controller 120 determines that the external device 50 does not read the first EDID and determines that the second EDID of the external device 50 is not read, it means that the external device 50 and the electronic apparatus 100 are the same device and execute the same operation method. At this time, the controller 120 cannot determine that the electronic device 100 is the image source device or the image destination device, and therefore the control display module 150 displays a user control switching message for the user to determine that the electronic device 100 is to be switched to the image source device or the image destination device.
Referring to fig. 2, a detailed schematic diagram of the electronic device 100 according to the embodiment of the disclosure is shown. As shown in fig. 2, the input/output module 110 includes an image port 112 and a switch 114. The image port 112 is electrically connected between the external device 50 and the controller 120, and provides the external device 50 and the controller 120 with communication. In this embodiment, the image port 112 is an image transmission interface conforming to the external device 50 and the electronic apparatus 100, such as a USB, an HDMI, or other image transmission interfaces, which is not limited in this disclosure. The switch 114 is electrically connected to the video port 112 and the controller 120. The controller 120 controls the switch 114 to electrically connect to the image processing module 140 or the display module 150, such that the external device 50 can transmit a first image signal Im1 to the display module 150 via the switch 114 or the image processing module 140 can transmit a second image signal Im2 to the external device 50 via the switch 114.
In addition, the display module 150 includes a source selector 152 and a display 154. The source selector 152 is electrically connected to the controller 120 and the display 154, and the controller 120 controls the source selector 152 to be electrically connected to the switch 114 or the image processing module 140. If the controller 120 controls the source selector 152 to electrically connect to the switch 114, the source selector 152 receives the first image signal Im1 transmitted by the external device 50, and the display 154 displays the first image signal Im 1. If the controller 120 controls the source selector 152 to be electrically connected to the image processing module 140, the source selector 152 receives the second image signal Im2, and the display 154 displays the second image signal Im 2. More specifically, if the source selector 152 is electrically connected to the switch 114, the source selector 152 is converted into a transmission interface conforming to the first image signal Im1 to receive the first image signal Im1 transmitted by the external device 50, and the display 154 displays the first image signal Im 1. If the source selector 152 is electrically connected to the image processing module 140, the source selector 152 is converted into a transmission interface conforming to the second image signal Im2 to receive the second image signal Im2 stored in the image processing module 140 and display the second image signal Im2 on the display 154.
Therefore, when the image port 112 of the input/output module 110 is electrically connected to the external device 50, the controller 120 determines whether the external device 50 reads the first EDID through the image port 112. If so, the controller 120 switches the electronic device 100 to be the image target device. At this time, the controller 120 controls the switch 114 to be electrically connected to the source selector 152 and not to be electrically connected to the image processing module 140. Therefore, the external device 50 can transmit a first image signal Im1 to the source selector 152 via the image port 112 and the switch 114, and display the first image signal Im1 on the display 154.
On the contrary, if the controller 120 determines that the external device 50 does not read the first EDID through the image port 112, the controller 120 will change to the external device 50 to read the second EDID and determine whether there is the second EDID read by the external device 50. If the controller 120 determines that the second EDID is read from the external device 50, the controller 120 switches the electronic apparatus 100 to be the image source apparatus. At this time, the controller 120 controls the switch 114 to be electrically connected to the image processing module 140 and not to be electrically connected to the source selector 152. Therefore, the image processing module 140 can transmit the second image signal Im2 to the external device 50 through the switch 114 and the image port 112, and display the second image signal Im2 on the external device 50. The image processing module 140 further transmits the second image signal Im2 to the source selector 152 for displaying the second image signal Im2 on the display 154. Of course, the image processing module 140 may also transmit a third image signal Im3 different from the second image signal Im2 to the source selector 152 to display the third image signal Im3 on the display 154, which is not limited in the embodiment of the disclosure.
On the contrary, if the controller 120 determines that the second EDID of the external device 50 is not read, it means that the external device 50 and the electronic apparatus 100 are the same device and execute the same operation method. At this time, the controller 120 displays a user control switching message on the display 154 via the source selector 152, so that the user can decide the electronic device 100 to switch to the image source device or the image destination device. In this embodiment, the user-controlled switching information is implemented by a manual switching button 160. The manual switch button 160 is electrically connected to the controller 120, and the controller 120 is controlled by the user control switch information generated by the manual switch button 160 to force the input/output module 110 to be electrically connected to the image processing module 140 or the display module 150. The user-controlled switching information can also be implemented by an electronic control interface (not shown in the drawings), for example, a user generates the user-controlled switching information through an application program (APP) in the electronic apparatus 100. In addition, the controller 120 can also force the electronic device 100 to be the image source device or the image destination device by default through the switching signal stored in the storage element 130 or through other methods, which is not limited by the embodiment of the disclosure.
From the above embodiments, the embodiments of the present disclosure can be summarized as an image input/output switching method, which is suitable for the electronic device 100 described in the above embodiments. Referring to fig. 3 and fig. 1, first, when the electronic device 100 is electrically connected to an external device 50, it is determined whether the external device 50 reads a first EDID in the electronic device 100 (step S310). If the electronic device 100 determines that the external device 50 reads the first EDID, the electronic device 100 switches to the image destination device and regards the external device 50 as the image source device. At this time, the external device 50 transmits the first image signal Im1 to the electronic apparatus 100, and displays the first image signal Im1 on the electronic apparatus 100 (step S320).
If the electronic apparatus 100 determines that the external device 50 does not read the first EDID, the electronic apparatus 100 reads the second EDID from the external device 50 (step S330), and determines whether the second EDID is read from the external device 50 (step S340). If the electronic device 100 determines that the second EDID is read from the external device 50, the electronic device 100 switches to the image source device and regards the external device 50 as the image target device. At this time, the electronic device 100 transmits the second image signal Im2 to the external device 50, and displays the second image signal Im2 on the external device 50 (step S350). In other embodiments, the second image signal Im2 is also displayed in the electronic device 100. Or the electronic device 100 may simultaneously display a third image signal Im3 different from the second image signal Im 2.
Otherwise, if the electronic device 100 determines that the second EDID of the external device 50 is not read, the electronic device 100 displays a user control switching message to inform the user to switch the electronic device 100 to be the image source device or the image destination device (step S360). The structure of the internal components of the electronic device 100 and the operational relationship therebetween are substantially the same as those of the input/output module 110, the controller 120, the storage element 130, the image processing module 140, the display module 150 and the manual switch button 160 of the previous embodiment, and therefore will not be described herein again.
In summary, the image input/output switching method and the electronic device provided by the embodiment of the disclosure determine that the electronic device 100 is an image source device or an image destination device according to the electrically connected external device 50. When the electronic device 100 is used as the image target device, the electronic device 100 displays a first image signal Im1 transmitted from the external device 50; when the electronic device 100 is used as an image source, the electronic device 100 transmits the second image signal Im2 to the external device 50 for display; when the electronic device 100 cannot determine as the image source device or the image destination device, the electronic device 100 displays the user control switching information to inform the user to switch the electronic device 100 to be the image source device or the image destination device. Therefore, the electronic device 100 only uses one image port to switch the electronic device 100 to be the image source device or the image destination device, so that the user does not plug in the wrong image port by mistake the functions of the two image ports of the electronic device in the prior art.
The above description is only for the best mode of the present disclosure, but the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and any changes or modifications that can be easily made by those skilled in the art within the field of the present disclosure can be covered by the claims of the present disclosure.
