Detailed Description
Referring to fig. 1 and 2, a pressure washer 10 is disclosed. The pressure washer 10 includes a pump 12, a hose 14, a spray gun 16, and a spray nozzle 18. The pump 12 has a pump inlet 12a for introducing the solution to be pressurized and a pump outlet 12 b. In other embodiments, the pump 12 comprises a self-priming siphon pump. The hose 14 has a hose inlet 14a for receiving fluid and communicating with the pump outlet 12b and a hose outlet 14 b. The spray gun 16 has a spray gun inlet 16a for receiving fluid and communicating with the hose outlet 14b and a spray gun outlet 16 b. The nozzle 18 communicates with the lance outlet 16b and receives fluid therein. The pressure washer 10 also includes a motor 20 coupled to the pump 12, the motor 20 driving the pump 12 to pressurize the liquid and direct the pressurized liquid through the hose 14, spray gun 16, and spray nozzle 18. The motor 20 shown in the present embodiment is a dc brushless motor, but it is apparent that other types of motors are equally applicable to the present invention. The pressure washer 10 also includes a water source 22 and a power source 26. The water source 22 is connected to the pump inlet 12a, and the water source 22 is typically a hose (not shown) and may be connected to a faucet (not shown). The power source 26 is used to power the motor 20 and may be either an ac or dc power source. The pressure washer 10 also includes a control device 30, and the control device 30 may be a printed circuit board electrically connected to the motor 20. The control device 30 includes a first power switch 32, which first power switch 32 is switchable between an "on" position and an "off" position for starting or stopping the motor 20 during use of the pressure washer 10. The control device 30 further includes a second freeze switch 34 (fig. 2), which second freeze switch 34 may temporarily activate the motor 20 to purge the pump 12 of liquid to protect the pressure washer 10 from a winter hazard. The freeze switch 34 is particularly desirable when the pump 12 is a self-priming siphon pump. This freeze protection feature can be used in conjunction with any pressure washer with a self-priming siphon pump. As will be apparent from the options presented in FIG. 1, the power switch 32 and the freeze protection switch 34 shown in the block diagram of FIG. 2 may operate in different ways, as will be described below.
To illustrate one implementation, the power switch 32 and the freeze protection switch 34 are integrated into a multi-position switch device, which may be a knob 36 (FIG. 1). The knob 36 is rotatable or movable between an "on" position 36a, an "off" position 36b, and a "wintering" position 36 c. When the knob 36 is in the freeze switch position/gear 36c, a timer connected to the control device 30 controls the power source to provide a predetermined, short duration (e.g., 5 seconds) of power to the motor 20, and the freeze switch position 36c may also be defined as a "hold" position/gear. Alternatively, the power switch 32 is provided as a two-position switch device 32 ', i.e., the power switch 32' can be switched between the "on" position and the "off" position. In this case, the freeze switch 34 may be provided as one button 34' alone. The switches mentioned above, as well as other alternative elements within the scope of the inventive concept, may be either mechanical switches or electronic switches, or a combination of mechanical and electronic switches.
In other embodiments, the freeze protection switch 34 may further include a momentary switch or a hold switch. When set as a hold switch, the control device 30 further provides a timing device which cooperates with the hold switch to operate the motor 20 only for a predetermined length of time after the activation of the freeze switch 34. This arrangement prevents the motor 20 from operating too long, and prevents the motor 20 from being damaged in winter, as well as protecting the motor 20 from being damaged during the freeze-proofing process. When set as a momentary switch, the motor 20 is operated for the period of time depending on when the user operates the momentary switch. For example, if the momentary switch is a push button, the motor 20 will only operate when the user presses the push button 34'. The control device 30 includes a suitable, programmable logic circuit, such as the aforementioned printed circuit board, which performs the aforementioned functions.
The pressure washer 10 is typically purged from the pump 12 of the pressure washer 10 before it is stored in winter, typically when a warm climate is about to end and freezing temperatures are predictable. At this point, there is often some residual liquid (e.g., water or water mixed with cleaning liquid) within the pump 12 during use of the pressure washer 10. During a cleaning or freeze protection procedure, it is typically necessary to activate the freeze switch 34 (FIG. 2) to temporarily activate the motor 20 to operate the pump 12 and remove residual liquid from the pump 12. As previously discussed, the power switch 32 and the freeze protection switch 34 of FIG. 2 may be integrated into a multi-position switch arrangement 36 as shown in FIG. 1. When the multi-position switch device 36 is in use, the step of activating the freeze protection switch 34 (FIG. 2) includes the operation of moving the multi-position switch device 36 to the freeze protection position 36 c. Upon activation of the freeze switch 34, a power source provides power to the motor 20 and operates the pump 12 to expel residual liquid from the pump 12. More preferably, any hose connections to the pump inlet 12a and the pump outlet 12b are all disconnected during the purge/freeze protection process. The freeze protection position 36c may be a "momentary" switch position, wherein the power source remains energized when the user holds the knob 36 in the third (freeze protection) position 36 c; when the user releases the knob 36 to reset back to the "off" position 36b, the power supply ceases to supply power. Alternatively, the freeze protection position 36c is a "hold" switch position, in which the control device 30 maintains power to the motor 20 for only a short period of time, such as 5 seconds; the motor 20 is then turned off or stopped. As discussed above, the clear/antifreeze operation can be accomplished by a switch 34 'that is provided separately from the main body power switch 32'. In this case, it will be appreciated that the three-position switch 36 need not be used. Instead, when the power switch 32 ' is in the "off" position 32b ', the separate antifreeze switch 34 ' will act as a hold switch or momentary switch, activating the motor 20 and operating the pump 12 for a short period of time to expel residual liquid from the pump.
Referring to FIG. 3, the pressure washer 10 further includes a frame 40. The pump 12 and the engine 20 are mounted to the frame 40. The pressure washer 10 also includes a cleaning solution inlet 42. In this embodiment, a removable and replaceable liquid storage container 50 is mounted to the frame 40. The liquid storage tank 50 is used to store cleaning liquid for use by the pressure washer 10. The liquid storage container 50 includes a liquid inlet (not numbered) with a closure member 52 (e.g., a screw cap). The cleaning liquid can be poured or poured out through the liquid inlet. The liquid storage container 50 is further provided with a one-way valve 56 at another location so as to be selectively in communication with the cleaning liquid inlet 42. In the illustrated embodiment, the liquid inlet with the closure element 52 is disposed at an upper portion of the liquid storage container 50, while the one-way valve 56 is disposed at a lower portion of the liquid storage container 50. This arrangement allows easy installation and removal of the one-way valve 56 from the cleaning fluid intake 42 when it is desired to install the fluid storage tank 50 to the frame 40 or remove the fluid storage tank 50 from the frame 40. The cleaning solution inlet 42 leads to a fluid line (not shown) which in turn communicates with the pump inlet 12a and the water source 22, whereby cleaning solution is mixed with the water entering the pump 12. When the liquid storage container 50 needs to be replaced with cleaning liquid and/or the residual liquid therein needs to be removed for different reasons, the liquid storage container 50 is simply detached from the frame 40. On the other hand, when refilling with cleaning liquid is required, the liquid storage container 50 can also be left on the frame 40, in which case the closure element 52 can simply be opened. When the liquid storage container 50 is removed from the frame 40, the one-way valve 56 should be in a closed state to prevent liquid from spilling. The fluid reservoir 50 may be of any desired shape or configuration.
Fig. 4 shows another embodiment of the present invention. A pressure washer 60 includes a frame 62 and a cleaning solution intake 64. As previously mentioned, the pressure washer 60 has the pump 12, the motor 20 mounted to the frame 62, and the hose 14, the spray gun 16, and the spray nozzle 18 (FIG. 2), the details of which are not repeated herein. A removable and replaceable liquid storage container 70 is mounted to the frame 62. The liquid storage tank 70 is used to store cleaning liquid for use by the pressure washer 60. The liquid storage container 70 includes a body (not numbered) and a spraying device 80. The body includes an inlet port 72 with a one-way valve 74. The one-way valve 74 is selectively in communication with the cleaning liquid inlet 64. The spray device 80 may be selectively mounted to the fluid inlet 72 at any location so that a user can spray the liquid (e.g., cleaning liquid) in the container directly from the container onto the surface to be rinsed. In an embodiment, injection device 80 is connected to loading port 72 by, for example, a threaded connection. It should be noted that any other means of attachment may be used to attach the spraying device 80 to the container 70 at the desired location, and that the container 70 may be of any desired shape or configuration. In various embodiments, the loading port 72 may be disposed in an upper portion of the liquid storage container 70, and the liquid storage container 70 further includes a handle 82 disposed in a lower portion thereof. The entire liquid storage container 70 may be mounted upside down at the cleaning liquid intake 64. In this position, fluid communication is enabled between the one-way valve 74 and the cleaning fluid inlet 64, thereby allowing cleaning fluid to be poured from the fluid storage tank 70 into the pressure washer 60. In this manner, cleaning solution is directed to a fluid line (not shown) of the pressure washer 60 and then to the pump inlet 12a, where it is mixed with water from the water source 22 (FIG. 2). Thus, the solution in the spray gun 16 and the spray nozzle 18 is a diluted cleaning solution. When a user desires to directly use the cleaning liquid in the concentrated state in the liquid storage container 70, the liquid storage container 70 may be removed from the frame and the spraying device 80 may be mounted to the liquid inlet 72 in an appropriate manner (e.g., by screwing). At this point, cleaning solution (e.g., detergent or other chemical) can be applied directly to the problem stain using cleaning solution storage container 70 and the spray device 80. A conventional thin tube 86 may be installed between the spraying device 80 and the liquid storage container 70 to suck the cleaning liquid out of the liquid storage container 70. It should be noted that the spray device 80 may be selectively attached to any desired location of the liquid storage container 70 so that the user sprays the liquid directly from the container. One option is to connect the injection device 80 to the liquid inlet 72. In other embodiments, the spray device 80 may alternatively be attached to other portions of the container 70, such as an upper portion of the container. The container further comprises a handle.
It should be noted that the engine referred to herein may be either an electrically driven engine or a gasoline powered engine.
The invention not only can solve the problem of protecting the pressure cleaning machine from being damaged under the conditions of low temperature and stopping use, but also provides the anti-freezing pressure cleaning machine which is convenient, quick, friendly in interface and easy to operate for users.
In summary, the pressure washer of the present invention uses the detachable cleaning liquid container, so that the operator can easily detach and replace the cleaning liquid container; still through increasing injection apparatus and check valve, the operator of being convenient for selects according to the degree of difficulty of getting rid of the spot the mode of pressure washer, convenient operation has prolonged pressure washer's life.
In addition, the above embodiments are only used for illustrating the invention and not for limiting the technical solutions described in the invention, and the understanding of the present specification should be based on the technical personnel in the field, and although the present specification has described the invention in detail by referring to the above embodiments, the ordinary skilled in the art should understand that the technical personnel in the field can still make modifications or equivalent substitutions to the present invention, and all the technical solutions and modifications thereof without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention should be covered in the claims of the present invention.
