The invention relates to a setting device and a setting method of a sub-picture, wherein the setting device is used for setting the sub-picture in a display unit and comprises a control unit, an auxiliary unit and a detection unit. The auxiliary unit is positioned in the display area of the display unit; the detecting unit is coupled to the control unit, and is configured to detect first information of the auxiliary unit, where the first information includes a position of the auxiliary unit in the display area and a size occupied by the auxiliary unit, the detecting unit sends the first information to the control unit, and the control unit receives the first information and sets the position and the size of the sub-frame according to the position and the size of the first information. The invention does not need the user to select or adjust the sub-picture in the menu in the display unit, omits the complicated operation steps, and can automatically determine the position and the size of the sub-picture only by the auxiliary unit, thereby being more convenient for setting the sub-picture.

Background
With the technology of the present day changing day by day, the existing type of the traditional television has also entered the age of the flat panel liquid crystal display from the age of the large-volume image tube, but the operation mode and function of the liquid crystal display of each manufacturer often have different operation modes and functions. Thus, the setting device 100 of the present invention does not require the user to select or adjust the sub-screen from the menu in the display unit, thereby eliminating the tedious operation steps, and only requiring the auxiliary unit 120 to automatically set the position and size of the sub-screen, thereby providing more convenience and flexibility in setting the sub-screen.
