Background
The mouthpiece, also called sealing ring, is typically found on centrifugal pumps. The split ring is divided into a front split ring (located at the impeller suction inlet) and a rear split ring (located at the impeller back). The front opening ring separates a high-pressure area from a low-pressure area in the pump, prevents liquid from flowing from the high-pressure area to the low-pressure area in a large quantity, namely prevents high-pressure fluid from flowing from the front cavity of the impeller to the suction inlet of the impeller, and plays a role in sealing. Meanwhile, the mouth ring also plays a role in wear resistance, and damage to the impeller and the pump shell is avoided. Most centrifugal pumps have a pump body collar.
For a typical centrifugal pump, the collar, which is now commonly used, is typically screwed to the pump body and impeller. The installation mode needs a certain number of screws, and the installation and the maintenance are complex; the mouth ring is positioned between the pump body and the suction inlet of the impeller, and a straight gap between the mouth ring and the suction inlet of the impeller is used for generating flow resistance, so that the effect of preventing backflow is achieved. However, this structure does not completely prevent backflow, and it can be found in real production that some fluid enters the impeller suction port through the gap, disturbs the main flow, and causes a volume loss; in addition, the general structure of the ring only has the functions of sealing and wear resistance, is positioned outside the suction inlet of the impeller, and has no effect on the balance of axial force, so that the axial force can be balanced only by other structures.

3. the sealing gap is positioned at the inner side of the suction inlet of the impeller of the centrifugal pump, and compared with a common mouth ring, the sealing gap can partially enlarge the pressure receiving area of the front cover plate of the centrifugal pump, and has a certain effect on the balance of axial force;
4. the labyrinth seal or spiral seal is arranged in the seal gap, and the resistance of the gap formed by the seal is larger than that of the straight gap, so that the reflux quantity is smaller; if the spiral seal is adopted, a pumping effect can be generated, so that sealing liquid at the gap is boosted, and the pressure drop of the sealed liquid is balanced, thereby preventing backflow and achieving a better sealing effect; the sealing gap formed by the mouth ring is at the inner side of the impeller suction inlet, so that the pressure receiving area of the front cover plate is increased by a part, and the mouth ring plays a certain role in balancing axial force.
