In the field of liquid crystal displays, bistable liquid crystal displays are becoming dominant due to their extremely low power consumption. After the bistable display displays the text or image, the text or image can be kept for a long time without energy support until the text or image is switched to the next content, so that the energy consumed by long-term display is greatly saved. In recent years, bistable liquid crystal displays have been studied mainly on cholesteric liquid crystal materials. Cholesteric liquid crystals themselves have several different states, including a vertical state in which the liquid crystal molecules are parallel to the electric field under an electric field, and two stable states in which no applied electric field is required: planar state and focal conic state. The cholesteric liquid crystal material has bistable characteristics, and both stable states can be kept stable under the condition of no external electric field, and respectively show a bright state or a dark state, and display information can be stored without an external power supply except for the switching process; on the other hand, the display has the characteristic of reflecting external light without a backlight source and a polaroid, so that the display is more energy-saving than a common display.
