Detailed Description
In order to make the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the embodiments of the present invention clearer and more complete, the technical solutions in the embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present invention, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are some, but not all, embodiments of the present invention, and based on the embodiments of the present invention, all other embodiments obtained by a person of ordinary skill in the art without creative efforts belong to the scope of the present invention.
As shown in fig. 1, an embodiment of the present invention provides a BIOS refresh method, applied to a server, including:
step 101, connecting at least two mainboards with the server in advance, wherein each mainboard is provided with a BMC (baseboard management controller) and a BIOS (basic input/output system) chip which are connected with each other;
102, respectively allocating an Internet Protocol (IP) address to each mainboard according to the IP address of the server, so that the server and each mainboard are located in the same network segment;
103, respectively sending a BIOS curing file to the BMCs arranged on the mainboards according to the IP addresses respectively corresponding to the mainboards, so that when each BMC receives the curing file, the BIOS connected with the BMC is refreshed according to the received BIOS curing file.
In the above embodiment of the present invention, at least two motherboards are connected to the server, each motherboard is provided with a connected BMC and a BIOS chip, and the server allocates the IP addresses of the motherboards, so that the server and the motherboards are located in the same network segment, the server can be ensured to communicate with the motherboards and the BMCs and BIOS chips disposed on the motherboards, and when the BIOS on each motherboard needs to be refreshed, the server can send a BIOS curing file to the BMCs disposed on the motherboards according to the IP addresses corresponding to the motherboards, so that the BMC can refresh the BIOS connected to the BMCs according to the received BIOS curing file. According to the technical scheme provided by the embodiment of the invention, on one hand, the BIOS arranged on the mainboard can be refreshed without installing a memory and a processor on the mainboard; on the other hand, the BIOS on the plurality of mainboards connected with the server can be refreshed simultaneously through the server; obviously, the technical scheme provided by the embodiment of the invention can improve the BIOS refreshing efficiency.
Further, since version information corresponding to each BIOS may not be consistent in some specific service scenarios, in order to implement respective refreshing of BIOS having different version information, in an embodiment of the present invention, after allocating an internet protocol IP address to each motherboard according to an IP address of the server, the method further includes:
respectively sending a refreshing instruction to the BMCs arranged on the mainboards according to the IP addresses respectively corresponding to the mainboards, so that when each BMC receives the refreshing instruction, the version information corresponding to the BIOS connected with the BMC at present is determined and sent;
receiving version information respectively sent by each BMC;
then, the sending the BIOS cured file to the BMCs installed on the respective motherboards according to the IP addresses respectively corresponding to the respective motherboards includes:
and sending a BIOS curing file corresponding to the version information to the current BMC according to the IP addresses respectively corresponding to the mainboards and the version information sent by the BMC arranged on the current mainboard.
For example, in a large computer room, in order to meet business requirements of different clients, a motherboard a needs to be provided for a client a, and a motherboard B needs to be provided for a client B, and in combination with actual business requirements and business benefits, the version of BIOS in the motherboard B provided for the client B is always higher than the version of BIOS in the motherboard a provided for the client a. Then, assuming that the version information of the BIOS in the current motherboard a is 5.1 version and the version information of the BIOS in the current motherboard B is 5.2 version, the server may obtain and store the BIOS cured file corresponding to the 5.1 version and store the BIOS cured file corresponding to the 5.2 version in advance, and when receiving that the version information sent by the BMC on the motherboard a is 5.1, the server may send the BIOS cured file corresponding to the 5.1 version to the BMC on the motherboard a, so that the BMC on the motherboard a updates the BIOS on the motherboard a from the 5.1 version to the 5.2 version; on the contrary, the server may send the BIOS firmware file corresponding to the version 5.2 to the BMC on the motherboard B, so that the BMC on the motherboard B updates the BIOS on the motherboard B from the version 5.2 to the corresponding version 5.3.
As shown in fig. 2, an embodiment of the present invention provides a BIOS refresh method, applied to BMC, including:
step 201, setting the BMC and the BIOS on a mainboard in advance, and connecting the mainboard with an external server;
step 202, receiving a BIOS solidified file sent by the external server according to the IP address allocated to the motherboard;
step 203, refreshing the BIOS according to the received BIOS curing file.
Correspondingly, because version information corresponding to each BIOS may not be consistent in some specific service scenarios, in order to implement respective refreshing of the BIOS having different version information, in an embodiment of the present invention, before receiving the BIOS solidified file sent by the external server according to the IP address allocated to the motherboard, the method further includes:
receiving refreshing instructions sent by the external server according to the IP addresses respectively corresponding to the main boards;
when the refreshing instruction is received, determining version information corresponding to the BIOS;
and sending the version information to the external server.
For more clearly explaining the technical solutions and advantages of the present invention, the following is a combination of the BIOS refresh method applied to the server side and the BIOS refresh method applied to the BMC side provided in the embodiments of the present invention, and the server and the BMC are mutually matched to simultaneously refresh the BIOS on the motherboard a and the motherboard B, for example, as shown in fig. 3, the following steps may be included:

The BIOS chip and the BMC which are arranged on the mainboard A are electrically connected through the mainboard A; the BIOS chip arranged on the mainboard B is electrically connected with the BMC through the mainboard B.
Step 302, connecting the mainboard A and the mainboard B to a server.
It should be understood that after the motherboard a and the motherboard B are connected to the server, respectively, the motherboard a, the motherboard B, and the server may be powered on.
Step 303, the server allocates a corresponding IP address to the motherboard a and the motherboard B according to its own IP address.
In the embodiment of the invention, the server can randomly generate two IP addresses which are positioned in the same network segment with the current IP address according to the IP address of the server, and the generated IP addresses are respectively distributed to the mainboard A and the mainboard B. Therefore, the server, the mainboard A and the mainboard B are located in the same network segment, and the server can be correspondingly communicated with the mainboard A and the mainboard B respectively.
And step 304, the server respectively sends refreshing instructions to the BMC arranged on the mainboard and the BMC arranged on the mainboard B according to the IP addresses respectively corresponding to the mainboard A and the mainboard B.
305, when the BMC on the mainboard A receives a refreshing instruction sent by the server according to the IP address of the mainboard A, determining the version information of the BIOS on the mainboard A; and when the BMC on the mainboard B receives a refreshing instruction sent by the server according to the IP address of the mainboard B, determining the version information of the BIOS on the mainboard B.
The embodiment of the invention takes the example of determining that the version information of the BIOS on the mainboard A is 5.1 version, the version information of the BIOS on the mainboard B is 5.2 version, and the 5.2 version is one version higher than the 5.1 version.
Step 306, the BMC on the mainboard A sends the determined version information 5.1 version to a server; and the BMC on the mainboard B sends the determined version information 5.2 version to the server.
Step 307, the server sends a BIOS curing file corresponding to the version 5.1 to the BMC on the mainboard A according to the IP address of the mainboard A; and sending a BIOS curing file corresponding to the 5.2 version to the BMC on the mainboard B according to the IP address of the mainboard B.
308, the BMC on the mainboard A refreshes the BIOS on the mainboard A to 5.2 version according to the BIOS curing file corresponding to 5.1 version sent by the server; and the BMC on the mainboard B refreshes the BIOS on the mainboard B to the version 5.3 according to the BIOS curing file corresponding to the version 5.2 sent by the server.
