Detailed Description
In order to further understand the objects, structures, features and functions of the present invention, the following embodiments are described in detail.
FIG. 1 is a diagram of a multimedia operating system 100 according to an embodiment of the invention. The multimedia operating system 100 includes a display 110, a display driver 120, a desk 130, a display control panel 140, an input/output interface driver 150, and an application processor 160. The application processor 160 is coupled to the display driver 120 and the input/output interface driver 150, and the input/output interface driver 150 is further coupled to the display control panel 140.
The application processor 160 can execute an application program to generate multimedia data, such as a video player program or a computer game program, and the multimedia data generated by executing the application program can include application screens and application sound effects related to application contents, such as movie screens, game screens, movie sound effects, and game sound effects. The application processor 160 can then control the display driver 120 to drive the display 110 to display the application frame in the multimedia data after generating the application frame in the multimedia data.
In some embodiments of the invention, the display 110 may be a Video Graphics Array (VGA) or High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) display, or a display supporting other common video interfaces. According to the interface supported by the display 110, the display driver 120 can transmit the application screen generated by the application processor 160 to the display 110 in the format supported by the display 110, and drive the display 110 to display the application screen.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the display driver 120 may be coupled to the display 110, and the display driver 120 may be disposed in the same computer case C1 as the application processor 160, or even disposed on the same motherboard as the application processor 160. In addition, the display driver 120 is not necessarily a dedicated hardware device, but may be other processors capable of executing corresponding drivers.
The desk frame 130 may be a common computer desk with a supporting plane for the display 110, or may be used to support the application processor 160 and the computer casing C1.
The display control panel 140 may be disposed on the desk frame 130 and at a position easily accessible to the user, that is, when the user is using the multimedia operating system 100, the user needs to move far away from the display 110 than the user needs to move to touch the display control panel 140, if the user can easily control the display control panel 140 when operating the keyboard keys without affecting the operation of the keyboard. In some embodiments of the present invention, the user can adjust the display characteristics, such as brightness, color parameters and/or contrast, of the display 110 through the display control panel 140 in a short time without exiting the application program and then adjusting the display characteristics, and without operating a button on the display 110 that is far away from the user.
When the user operates the display control panel 140, for example, presses a button on the display control panel 140, the display control panel 140 can output the start signal sigini. The i/o interface driver 150 has a plurality of i/o interfaces coupled to the display control panel 140, so that the i/o interface driver 150 can receive the start signal sigini and output the menu activation signal SIGmenu according to the start signal sigini. In some embodiments of the present invention, the i/o interface driver 150 may be, for example, a general purpose input/output (GPIO) driver. In this case, the i/o interface driver 150 may be coupled to the corresponding button switches on the display control panel 140 through a plurality of general-purpose i/o interfaces, and may obtain the operation status of the display control panel 140 by means of polling (polling), such as whether a button is pressed, the number of times, the length of the pressed button, and which buttons are pressed.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the I/o interface driver 150 may also be an Integrated Circuit bus (I2C) driver, in which case, the display control panel 140 may store the operation status of each button in a corresponding register, and the I/o interface driver 150 may output the clock signal and the control signal to the display control panel 140 through the corresponding interface and read the operation status of the display control panel 140. In some embodiments of the present invention, the input/output interface driver 150 may also be a driver supporting other input/output interfaces, and the input/output interface driver 150 may output the control signal in a corresponding format according to the protocol of the input/output interface to obtain the operation status of the display control panel 140.
Further, the display control panel 140 may include a plurality of buttons, the buttons may be in the form of resistive/capacitive touch buttons or mechanical buttons, and the input/output interface driver 150 may recognize what the button is pressed according to the signal output by the display control panel 140, so that when a specific button corresponding to an open menu in the display control panel 140 is pressed to output the start signal sigini, the input/output interface driver 150 may correspondingly output the menu start signal SIGmenu. However, in some embodiments, the i/o interface driver 150 may also determine whether the signal output by the display control panel 140 is the first signal within the predetermined time to be the start signal sigini, if the signal output by the display control panel 140 is determined to be the first signal within the predetermined time, the i/o interface driver 150 will determine that the signal is the start signal sigini and further output the menu start signal SIGmenu, otherwise the i/o interface driver 150 will execute other corresponding functions according to the pressed button. In other embodiments, the i/o interface driver 150 may also analyze the operation status of the display control panel 140 according to different mechanisms and accordingly determine whether to output the menu initiation signal SIGmenu or other control signals.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the i/o interface driver 150 may be disposed in the same computer casing C1 as the application processor 160, or even disposed on the same motherboard as the application processor 160. In addition, the I/O interface driver 150 is not necessarily a dedicated hardware device, but may be any other processor capable of executing the corresponding driver.
When the application processor 160 receives the menu initiation signal SIGMenu, the application processor 160 controls the display driver 120 to drive the display 110 to display the menu screen. The menu screen may present options that can be adjusted by the user, such as the display mode of the display 110 and the brightness of the display 110, or even the output parameters of other devices, such as the output volume of the sound card.
The user can select a specific option in the menu screen by operating the display control panel 140. For example, the menu screen may further include a cursor, and the control panel 140 includes buttons for controlling the cursor and control buttons for determining the selection. Therefore, the user can move the cursor through the control panel 140, and press the control button when the cursor moves to the specific option to be adjusted, and at this time, the control panel 140 can output the control signal SIGctrl to indicate that the user selects the specific option in the menu screen.
The i/o interface driver 150 outputs a menu control signal SIGsel according to the control signal SIGctrl, and the application processor 160 outputs a display control signal SIGctrl to the display driver 120 according to the menu control signal SIGsel so that the display driver 120 adjusts the display characteristics of the display 110 corresponding to the selected specific option.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the specific option selected by the user may be a movie mode, in which the user may be playing a movie using the multimedia operating system 100, and the application frame of the multimedia data generated by the application processor 160 is a movie frame. When the user selects the movie mode, the application processor 160 can output the display control signal sigctrl to the display driver 120 according to the menu control signal SIGsel so that the display driver 120 can improve the color parameter or contrast of the display 110, thereby making the color of the movie more vivid.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the specific option selected by the user may be a game mode, in which the user may be playing a game using the multimedia operating system 100, and the application screen of the multimedia data generated by the application processor 160 is a game screen. When the user selects the video game mode, the application processor 160 can output the display control signal SIGDctrl to the display driver 120 according to the menu control signal SIGSEL, so that the display driver 120 can increase the brightness of the dark area in the application image of the multimedia data generated by the application processor 160. That is, when the user selects the video game mode, the application processor 160 can increase the brightness of the dark area in the game screen through the display driver 120, so that the user can more easily see the enemy, building or object in the dark area in the game screen, thereby facilitating the game of the player.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the specific option selected by the user may also be a brightness adjustment option, and the application processor 160 can output the display control signal sigctrl to the display driver 120 according to the menu control signal SIGsel so as to enable the display driver 120 to adjust the brightness of the display 110. For example, the brightness adjustment option may be a brightness enhancement option, and the application processor 160 may output the display control signal SIGdctrl to the display driver 120 to enable the display driver 120 to enhance the brightness of the display 110.
In addition, in some embodiments of the present invention, the display driver 120 may be coupled to the display 110 via an external transmission line L1, and the display driver 120 may output a control COMMAND to the display 110 via the data display channel COMMAND interface (DISPLAY DATA CHANNEL COMMAND INTERFACE, DDC/CI) of the transmission line L1 according to the display control signal SIGdctrl to adjust the display characteristics of the display 110 corresponding to the specific option. For example, the transmission line L1 may be a transmission line supporting Video Graphics Array (VGA) or High-resolution Multimedia Interface (HDMI) according to the Video Interface supported by the display 110.
In other words, after the user selects the specific option, the application processor 160 can send the corresponding display control signal SIGdctrl to the display driver 120 according to the function of the specific option, and the display driver 120 can encode the display control signal SIGdctrl into the instruction format supported by the display 110 and output the instruction to drive the display 110 through the data display channel instruction interface of the transmission line L1. Since the command interface of the data display channel is designed to transmit the control command, the present invention can enable the user to more conveniently control the display characteristics of the display 110 when using the multimedia operating system 100 without additionally adding a transmission line interface or additionally arranging a command decoding module on the display 110.
Furthermore, when the application processor 160 executes the application program, the application processor 160 may select the corresponding menu screen according to the graphic library used by the application program. For example, when the application processor 160 is executing an application program for a game, an open graphics library (OpenGL) or a direct extended interface (directX) graphics library may be used. Since different graphic libraries have different parameter settings for the display screen and may have different coordinate calculation manners for the display screen, if the application program executed by the application processor 160 utilizes the graphic library of the direct extensible interface (directX), the application processor 160 may cause the display 110 to display the menu screen suitable for the open graphic library (OpenGL), which may result in the menu screen not being displayed normally.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the application processor 160 may store a plurality of menu screens, and when receiving the menu initiation signal SIGMenu, the application processor 160 may select a corresponding menu screen from the plurality of menu screens according to the type of the graphic library corresponding to the application program. Therefore, the problem that the display 110 cannot normally display the menu screen due to the mismatch between the graphic library and the menu screen used by the application program can be avoided.

The sound driver 280 is coupled to the sound card 270 and the application processor 160. The sound driver 280 may drive the sound card 270 to output application sound of the multimedia data generated by the application processor 160. In some embodiments of the present invention, the sound card 270 and the sound driver 280 may be disposed in the same computer casing C1 as the application processor 160, or even disposed on the same motherboard as the application processor 160. However, the invention is not limited thereto, and in other embodiments of the invention, the sound card 270 may be externally connected to the computer casing C1, and the sound driver 280 is not limited to a specific hardware device, but may be other processors capable of executing corresponding drivers.
In the embodiment of FIG. 2, the user can also use the display control panel 140 to start the menu screen, and further use the control panel 140 to select the option in the menu screen to control the sound effect characteristics of the sound card 270.
In other words, the display control panel 140 can output the control signal SIGctrl to select a specific option in the menu screen according to the user's operation, at this time, the i/o interface driver 150 can output the menu control signal SIGsel according to the control signal SIGctrl, and the application processor 160 can output the sound card control signal SIGctrl to the sound driver 280 according to the menu control signal SIGsel so that the sound driver 280 can adjust the sound characteristics of the sound card 270 corresponding to the specific option.
For example, if the specific option selected by the user is a volume adjustment option, the application processor 160 outputs the sound card control signal sigctrl to the sound driver 280 according to the menu control signal SIGsel so that the sound driver 280 adjusts the output volume of the sound driver 280. In some embodiments of the present invention, the volume adjustment option may be a volume enhancement option, and the application processor 160 can output the sound card control signal SIGvctrl to the sound driver 280, and enhance the output volume of the sound card 270 through the sound driver 280.
Moreover, because the volume is controlled simply, in some embodiments of the present invention, the multimedia operating system may further include a volume control panel on the desk frame, so as to facilitate the user to control the volume more quickly.
