Detailed description of the invention
Discussion below and accompanying drawing disclose various sport ball configuration and the method relevant with the manufacture of sport ball.Although sport ball is discussed about Association football and describes, the idea relevant to configuration and method can be applied to various types of type inflatable sport ball. Therefore, except Association football, the concept discussed in this article can be merged in such as basketball, football (no matter rugby or Rugby football), vollyball and water polo.Various can not inflating sport ball, such as Baseball and Softball, also can be included in the concept discussed herein.
General sport ball configuration
Depict the sport ball 10 of the general configuration with Association football in fig. 1-3.Ball 10 presents layer structure, and this layer structure has that (a) forms the shell 20 of the exterior section of ball 10, (b) is positioned at the inflatable bladder 40 that the intermediate structure 30 of shell 20 and (c) form the interior section of ball 10.When pressurized, bladder 40 causes ball 10 to present substantially spherical shape.More particularly, the pressure in bladder 40 causes bladder 40 outside power to be placed in intermediate structure 30.And then outside power is placed on shell 20 by intermediate structure 30.In order to limit the expansion of bladder 40 and the tension force also in limit shell 20, a part for intermediate structure 30 can have limited level of stretch. In other words, outside power is placed in intermediate structure 30 by bladder 40, but the tensile properties of intermediate structure 30 stops outside power to cause significant tension force in shell 20 effectively.Correspondingly, intermediate structure 30 constraint comes from the pressure of bladder 40, allows outside power to cause spherical form in shell 20 simultaneously, thus gives ball 10 with spherical shape.
Shell 20 is formed by the various plates 21 being joined together to form multiple seam 22 along adjacent side or fringe region.Although plate 21 is depicted as have 12 equilateral pentagonal shapes, but plate 21 can have other shapes various (such as, triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon, trapezoidal, circular, oval, non-geometrically) that inequilateral shape, recessed or convex edge or the mode with tessellation type (tessellation-type) combine to be formed shell 20.In some configurations, ball 10 can have 12 pentagonal panel 21 and 20 hexagonal plates 21, to give the general configuration of traditional Association football.Selected plate 21 also can form single (that is, monolithic) structure with the plate 21 adjoined, to form the bridging board of the quantity reducing seam 22.Although seam 22 is formed by the joining edge region with stitching (such as, craft or machine are sewed up) connecting plate 21, seam 22 also combines by adhesive or welds and formed.Open in the U.S. Patent Application Publication 2010/0240479 of the people such as the example Raynak of solder joint, this U.S. Patent Application Publication is incorporated to herein by reference.
Shell 20 defines outer surface 23 and relative inner surface 24.Outer surface 23 is towards outer and form the outer surface of ball 10.Inner surface 24 and outer surface 23 are relatively located and towards inner and towards intermediate structure 30.In many configurations of ball 10, inner surface 24 contacts intermediate structure 30.As Fig. 1-3 describe, multiple impression (indentation) 25 and 26 is formed in shell 20 and central area towards shell 20 extends. But impression 25 is formed in outer surface 23, impression 26 is formed in inner surface 24.Impression 25 is relatively located substantially with impression 26.Impression 25 and 26 gives ball 10 various advantage.Such as, impression 25 can have design or the profile of the aesthetic feeling promoting ball 10.In some configurations, impression 25 also can form the manufacturer of marked ball 10 or pass on the mark of the feature about ball 10.In addition, impression 25 can promote the aerodynamics of ball 10, or for individual provide such as during playing football, dribble or passing to the better control of ball 10.
Intermediate structure 30 is positioned between shell 20 and bladder 40, and can be formed to be produced as that sport ball provides one or more compressible foam foam layer of softening sensation, the restraint layer of the expansion of the energize rubber layer that returns and constraint bladder 40.The general structure of intermediate structure 30 can change significantly.Such as, restraint layer can be formed by following element: (a) line, yarn or filament, and it is repeatedly wound around around bladder 40 in all directions, to form the network structure covering most bladder 40; The fabric component of the smooth or plane of (b) multiple cardinal principle, it is sewn to together to form the structure extended around bladder 40; Or (c) webbing of the smooth or plane of multiple cardinal principle, it is placed in around in the juxtaposed configuration of bladder 40 by latex impregnation. For another example, intermediate structure 30 can be formed substantially seamless and bending (such as, hemispherical or spherical) fabric, as disclosed in the U.S. Patent Application Publication 2009/0325746 of the people such as Raynak, this U.S. Patent Application Publication is incorporated to herein by reference. In some configurations of ball 10, the part of intermediate structure 30 or intermediate structure 30 also can combined, connect or be otherwise incorporated in bladder 40, or intermediate structure 30 can not exist in ball 10.Correspondingly, the structure of intermediate structure 30 can change to comprise various configuration and material significantly.
Bladder 40 has inflatable structure and is positioned at intermediate structure 30 to provide the interior section of ball 10.Upon inflation, bladder 40 presents circle or substantially spherical shape. In order to contribute to expanding, bladder 40 can comprise the opening (description) of the band valve extending through intermediate structure 30 and shell 20, therefore bladder 40 is can be enterable from the outside of ball 10, or bladder 40 can have the valveless semi-permanently inflated.Bladder 40 can be diffused into the rubber of the outside of ball 10 by the air stoped substantially in bladder 40 or other fluid or carbon latex material is formed.Except rubber or carbon latex material, various other elastomeric material or otherwise stretchable material can be used to bladder 40.Bladder 40 also can have the structure formed by multiple connecting plate, and disclosed in the U.S. Patent Application Publication 2009/0325745 of the people such as Rapaport, this U.S. Patent application is incorporated to herein by reference.
The configuration of plate
Single plate 21 is described in figs. 4-6 and is had the layer structure comprising ground floor or outer 51, the second layer or intermediate layer 52 and third layer or internal layer 53.Outer 51 parts forming outer surfaces 23, inwardly and be adjacent to outer 51 location, and internal layer 53 inwardly and be adjacent to intermediate layer 52 and locate in intermediate layer 52.In this configuration, intermediate layer 52 is positioned between layer 51 and 53.That is, layer 51 and 53 forms the cover layer (that is, outer and internal layer) be positioned on the opposite side in intermediate layer 52 effectively.
Various material can be used to each in layer 51-53, comprises various polymeric material, polymer foams and fabric.More particularly, outer 51 can be formed with the polymeric material of durable and wear-resistant outer surface by giving ball 10.The example being suitable for the polymeric material of plate 21 comprises polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide, polyester, polypropylene and polyolefin. In some configurations, outer 51 can be formed by synthetic leather material.Intermediate layer 52 can be formed by the polymer foams of such as polyurethane or ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. In some configurations, intermediate layer 52 can comprise several layers of (such as, the three layers) polymeric material with different densities. In addition, internal layer 53 can be formed by textile material (such as, braiding or knit goods).More particularly, the textile material of internal layer 53 can be formed by polyester, cotton, nylon, staple fibre, silk, spandex or other material various.Textile material also can comprise multiple material, such as polyester and cotton mixture. In some configurations, one or more layers of 51-53 can comprise filament or the fiber of reinforcement or stiffened shell 20.
Layer 51 and 53 is separated with each other by intermediate layer 52 usually. But in the region of impression 25 and 26, layer 51 and 53 curves inwardly and combined or otherwise fastened to each other. That is, impression 25 and 26 is located relative to each otherly and is extended in plate 21 in corresponding position, and in this position, the part forming impression 25 and 26 respectively of layer 51 and 53 is mutually secured at the back.Since most outer 51 is spaced apart with internal layer 53, layer 51 and 53 extends through intermediate layer 52 with combination or otherwise fastened to each other in the region of impression 25 and 26.Similarly, intermediate layer 52 partly can form gap or additionally not exist in the region of impression 25 and 26.In some configurations, intermediate layer 52 can be compressed widely in the region of impression 25 and 26, therefore forms the polymeric layer of the part of the formation impression 25 and 26 of separating layer 51 and 53.
Impression 25 and 26 can change significantly relative to the position of plate 21.As described, multiple edges 27 that impression 25 and 26 is parallel to plate 21 extend. In this configuration, impression 25 and 26 forms from edge 27 inside isolated pentagon shaped. But in the other configuration of plate 21, impression 25 and 26 can be arranged in other region maybe can give different shapes or layout.Such as, Fig. 7 A is depicted wherein impression 25 and forms the concentric pentagonal configuration connected by radial portions. In Fig. 7 B and 7C, impression 25 has circular and leg-of-mutton configuration respectively, but also can be square, rectangle, hexagon or any other rule or irregular shape. With reference to figure 7D, impression 25 presents radial configuration. In some configurations, impression 25 can have graphical form, as in figure 7e, maybe can give information, as in figure 7f.Impression 25 also can form the shape of company logo or trade mark.As discussed above, impression 25 can have the design of aesthetic feeling that promotes ball 10 or profile, formation marked ball 10 manufacturer mark, pass on the information of the feature about ball 10, promote the aerodynamics of ball 10 or be supplied to the better control of individual to ball 10.These advantages are comprised in ball 10 by changing the shape of impression 25 and 26 and layout.
The concrete configuration of impression 25 and 26 also can change significantly. With reference to figure 6, each configuration with the substantial circular of the approximate mid points extending to plate 21 of impression 25 and 26.In another configuration, as in fig. 8 a describe, compared to impression 26, impression 25 can extend across the more thickness of plate 21.With reference to figure 8B, impression 25 extends through the thickness whole substantially of plate 21.With reference to figure 8C, impression 25 and 26 can be spaced from one another, and the part in intermediate layer 52 is extended between impression 25 and 26.In this configuration, intermediate layer 52 have the first thickness between (a) impression 25 and 26 and (b) with the second thickness in the isolated region of impression 25 and 26, the first thickness is less than the second thickness.Formed with circle and contrast, impression 25 and 26 also can present foursquare configuration, as in Fig. 8 D describe. Therefore, impression 25 and 26 can have various configuration.
