液晶显示装置及其驱动方法
技术领域
本发明涉及液晶显示技术领域,尤其涉及一种液晶显示装置及其驱动方法。
背景技术
液晶显示装置中包括多种不同颜色的子像素,比如包括红色子像素R、绿色子像素G和蓝色子像素B,不同颜色子像素的色坐标设置能够体现液晶显示装置的色彩表现能力,不同颜色子像素形成的混合光色度的色坐标与各子像素的的相对亮度有关,当某种子像素的相对亮度不足时,各颜色子像素形成的混合光的色坐标将发生偏差,这种偏差通常可以通过背光源的色度调整将白光的色坐标校正至标准,但是如果这种偏差较大,则很难将白光的色坐标校正至标准。
例如,不同的色域标准对应不同的色彩表现能力,对应sRGB100%色域标准的液晶显示装置已有较为成熟的方案,如表1所示,sRGB100%色域标准和adobe100%色域标准的色坐标设置如下:

从表1中可以看出,sRGB100%色域标准提升至更高的adobe100%色域标准,需要改变绿色子像素G的色坐标,但是这样会使绿色子像素G的透过率大幅降低,由于绿色子像素G的透过率的大幅降低将对混合后白光坐标有较大影响,使得更换新的绿色子像素G后,很难将白光的色坐标校正至标准。
发明内容
本发明的提供一种液晶显示装置及其驱动方法,通过提高某种颜色子像素的相对亮度,从而减小由于该种颜色子像素透过率较低而导致的白光色坐标偏差。
为解决上述技术问题,本发明的采用如下技术方案:
一方面,提供一种液晶显示装置的驱动方法,所述液晶显示装置包括P种不同颜色的子像素,P为大于1的整数,
每N帧为一幅画面的显示周期,其中N为大于或等于2的整数;
在所述每N帧中,Q种颜色的子像素均显示正常状态,Q为整数,0<Q<P;
在所述每N帧中,除所述Q种颜色外其他颜色的子像素在至少一帧中显示暗态,在除显示暗态的帧之外的其他帧中显示正常状态,其中显示正常状态的帧数至少为一。
具体地,所述液晶显示装置的扫描频率为(60×N)Hz。
具体地,所述P种不同颜色的子像素分别为红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素。
具体地,所述Q种颜色的子像素包括绿色子像素。
另一方面,提供一种液晶显示装置,包括P种不同颜色的子像素,P为大于1的整数,还包括:
液晶显示驱动装置,用于使每N帧为一幅画面的显示周期,其中N为大于或等于2的整数;
在所述每N帧中,所述液晶显示驱动装置用于使Q种颜色的子像素均显示正常状态,Q为整数,0<Q<P;
在所述每N帧中,所述液晶显示驱动装置用于使除所述Q种颜色外其他颜色的子像素在至少一帧中显示暗态,在除显示暗态的帧之外的其他帧中显示正常状态,其中显示正常状态的帧数至少为一。

下面将结合本发明实施例中的附图,对本发明实施例中的技术方案进行清楚、完整地描述,显然,所描述的实施例仅仅是本发明一部分实施例,而不是全部的实施例。基于本发明中的实施例,本领域普通技术人员在没有作出创造性劳动前提下所获得的所有其他实施例,都属于本发明保护的范围。
本发明提供一种液晶显示装置的驱动方法,该液晶显示装置包括P种不同颜色的子像素,P为大于1的整数,每N帧为一幅画面的显示周期,其中N为大于或等于2的整数;Q种颜色的子像素均显示正常状态,Q为整数,0<Q<P;在上述每N帧中,除上述Q种颜色外其他颜色的子像素在至少一帧中显示暗态,在除显示暗态的帧之外的其他帧中显示正常状态,其中显示正常状态的帧数至少为一。子像素显示正常状态是指子像素接收需要显示该画面时的数据信号,使液晶分子按照需要正常偏转以实现需要的灰阶显示;子像素显示暗态是指子像素接收暗态数据信号,使液晶分子按照特定的方式偏转以遮住光线。
具体地,传统的液晶显示装置通常是每一帧为一幅画面的显示周期,即每一帧数据线输出一幅画面的数据信号;而本实施例中提供的驱动方法是将每N帧结合来显示一幅画面,即在每N帧中,用于显示正常状态的子像素接收到的数据信号为同一幅画面的数据信号。在N帧中,每个子像素都至少在一帧中显示正常状态,从而形成一幅画面,其中部分子像素在所有帧中都显示正常状态,而另外一部分子像素至少在一帧中显示暗态。例如上述Q种颜色的子像素中的某一种为透过率较低的子像素,从而会影响混合后白光的色坐标,在N帧中,这种颜色的子像素显示正常状态的时间是所有颜色的子像素显示正常状态的时间中最长的,从而在一幅画面的显示过程中,提高了这种颜色的子像素的相对亮度,进而一定程度上抵消这种颜色的子像素透过率较低的问题。
本实施例中的液晶显示装置的驱动方法,通过将每N帧结合来显示一幅画面,并且使某种颜色的子像素显示正常状态的时间是所有颜色的子像素显示正常状态的时间中最长的,从而在一幅画面的显示过程中,提高了这种颜色的子像素的相对亮度,进而一定程度上抵消这种颜色子像素透过率较低的问题,从而减小由于这种颜色子像素透过率较低而导致的白光色坐标偏差。
具体地,上述液晶显示装置的扫描频率可以为(60×N)Hz,60Hz的扫描频率为液晶显示装置常用的扫描频率,如果扫描频率低于该频率,人眼会明显的感到闪烁,在本实施例中,由于是将每N帧结合来显示一幅画面,子像素在一幅画面中显示正常状态的最小时间为一帧,因此为了避免闪烁,需要较高的扫描频率,当然并不限于(60×N)Hz,例如N=2时,也可以使用150Hz或180Hz的扫描频率。
具体地,上述P种不同颜色的子像素可以分别为红色子像素R、绿色子像素G和蓝色子像素B,这是常用的不同颜色子像素的组合,当然也可以使用其他类型颜色的子像素组合,例如上述P种不同颜色的子像素可以分别为红色子像素R、绿色子像素G、蓝色子像素B和黄色子像素Y。
具体地,如果将具有子像素RGB的液晶显示装置从sRGB100%色域标准提升至更高的adobe100%色域标准,需要改变绿色子像素G的色坐标,但是这样会使绿色子像素G的透过率大幅降低,此时上述Q种颜色的子像素包括绿色子像素G,通过在每N帧中提高绿色子像素G显示正常状态的相对时间来提高其相对亮度,从而减小由于绿色子像素透过率较低而导致的白光色坐标偏差。当然上述Q种颜色的子像素并不限于包括绿色子像素,任何颜色的子像素由于其透过率降低而造成白光色坐标偏差时都可以将其作为上述Q种颜色的子像素之一来应用本实施例。
以下通过具体例子来进一步说明本实施例中的液晶显示装置的驱动方法:
液晶显示装置包括红色子像素R、绿色子像素G和蓝色子像素B,由于sRGB100%色域标准提升至更高的adobe100%色域标准,改变了绿色子像素G的色坐标,从而由于绿色子像素G的透过率降低使得混合后白光的色坐标有较大偏差。

比如在如表2所示的满足sRGB100%色域标准和Adobe100%色域标准的红绿蓝色子像素的色坐标和透过率,绿色子像素透过率的大幅降低使得白光色坐标偏大较大。
此时将每N帧结合来显示一幅画面,N=2、3或4,在每N帧中,数据线均输出同一副画面的数据信号。当液晶显示装置的扫描频率为(60×N)Hz时,通过在每N帧中子像素RGB显示正常状态的帧数组合获得如表2所示的白光色坐标特性,

表3中,Wx和Wy表示白光的色坐标,(Wx-0.313,Wy-0.329)表示白光色坐标与标准值之间的偏差,需要说明的是,表3只表示了R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数,在没有显示正常状态的帧中,子像素显示暗态,从表3中可以看出:
(1)N=1时表示传统液晶显示装置的白光色坐标特性,此时每一帧为一幅画面的显示周期,子像素RGB在所有帧中均显示正常状态,此时白光色坐标偏差为(-0.010,-0.074),这种偏差较大,很难通过背光源的色度调整将白光色坐标校正至标准;
(2)N=2时液晶显示装置采用120Hz的扫描频率,此时每两帧为一幅画面的显示周期,在每两帧中,R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数为1/2/1表示绿色子像素G在每一帧中均显示正常状态;红色子像素R和蓝色子像素B在每两帧中的一帧中显示正常状态,在另一帧中显示暗态。此时白光色坐标偏差为(-0.024,-0.005),与传统液晶显示装置的白光色坐标偏差(-0.010,-0.074)相比大大减少,这种偏差可以配合背光源的色块调整将白光色坐标校正至标准。类似的,R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数为2/2/1时,白光色坐标偏差为(0.045,-0.004),这种偏差也较小,同样可以配合背光源的色块调整将白光色坐标校正至标准。
(3)N=3时液晶显示装置采用180Hz的扫描频率,此时每三帧为一幅画面的显示周期,在每三帧中,R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数为2/3/2时,白光色坐标偏差为(-0.018,-0.037),具体地,此时只限定了红色子像素R和蓝色子像素B显示正常状态的帧数为2,对于每三帧中的哪两帧中显示正常状态没有限定;R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数为3/3/2时,白光色坐标偏差为(0.023,-0.032)。这两种偏差与传统液晶显示装置的白光色坐标偏差相比均较小,可以配合背光源的色度调整将白光色坐标校正至标准。
(4)N=4时液晶显示装置采用240Hz的扫描频率,此时每四帧为一幅画面的显示周期,在每四帧中,R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数为3/4/2时,白光色坐标偏差为(0.014,-0.004),R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数为3/4/3时,白光色坐标偏差为(-0.016,-0.048),这两种偏差与传统液晶显示装置的白光色坐标偏差相比均较小,可以配合背光源的色度调整将白光色坐标校正至标准。
需要说明的是,这里只以N=2、3和4举例进行说明,N也可以等于4以上的整数。另外,这里只以6种R/G/B显示正常状态的帧数的组合形式进行了举例,但并不限于这6种显示正常状态的帧数的组合形式。
本实施例中的液晶显示装置的驱动方法,通过将每N帧结合来显示一幅画面,并且使某种颜色的子像素显示正常状态的时间是所有颜色的子像素显示正常状态的时间中最长的,从而在一幅画面的显示过程中,提高了这种颜色的子像素的相对亮度,进而一定程度上抵消这种颜色子像素透过率较低的问题,从而减小由于这种颜色子像素透过率较低而导致的白光色坐标偏差。
本发明实施例还提供一种液晶显示装置,如图1所示,包括P种不同颜色的子像素,P为大于1的整数,还包括:液晶显示驱动装置1,用于使每N帧为一幅画面的显示周期,其中N为大于或等于2的整数;在上述每N帧中,液晶显示驱动装置1用于使Q种颜色的子像素均显示正常状态,Q为整数,0<Q<P;在上述每N帧中,液晶显示驱动装置1用于使除上述Q种颜色外其他颜色的子像素在至少一帧中显示暗态,在除显示暗态的帧之外的其他帧中显示正常状态,其中显示正常状态的帧数至少为一。
具体地,上述液晶显示装置的扫描频率可以为(60×N)Hz。
具体地,上述P种不同颜色的子像素可以分别为红色子像素R、绿色子像素G和蓝色子像素B。

Claims (8)

1.一种液晶显示装置的驱动方法,所述液晶显示装置包括P种不同颜色的子像素,P为大于1的整数,其特征在于,
每N帧为一幅画面的显示周期,其中N为大于或等于2的整数;
在所述每N帧中,Q种颜色的子像素均显示正常状态,Q为整数,0<Q<P;
在所述每N帧中,除所述Q种颜色外其他颜色的子像素在至少一帧中显示暗态,在除显示暗态的帧之外的其他帧中显示正常状态,其中显示正常状态的帧数至少为一。
2.根据权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,
所述液晶显示装置的扫描频率为(60×N)Hz。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的液晶显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,
所述P种不同颜色的子像素分别为红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素。
4.根据权利要求3所述的液晶显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,
所述Q种颜色的子像素包括绿色子像素。
5.一种液晶显示装置,包括P种不同颜色的子像素,P为大于1的整数,其特征在于,还包括:
液晶显示驱动装置,用于使每N帧为一幅画面的显示周期,其中N为大于或等于2的整数;
在所述每N帧中,所述液晶显示驱动装置用于使Q种颜色的子像素均显示正常状态,Q为整数,0<Q<P;
在所述每N帧中,所述液晶显示驱动装置用于使除所述Q种颜色外其他颜色的子像素在至少一帧中显示暗态,在除显示暗态的帧之外的其他帧中显示正常状态,其中显示正常状态的帧数至少为一。
6.根据权利要求5所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,
所述液晶显示装置的扫描频率为(60×N)Hz。
7.根据权利要求5或6所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,
所述P种不同颜色的子像素分别为红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素。
8.根据权利要求7所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,
所述Q种颜色的子像素包括绿色子像素。
